Књига о Јову 21
1 А Јов одговори и рече:
And Job answered and said,
2 Слушајте добро речи моје, и то ће ми бити од вас утеха.
Hear attentively my speech, and let this replace your consolations.
3 Потрпите ме да ја говорим, а кад изговорим, подсмевајте ми се.
Suffer me and I will speak; and after I have spoken, mock on!
4 Еда ли се ја човеку тужим? И како не би био жалостан дух мој?
As for me, is my complaint to a man? or wherefore should not my spirit be impatient?
5 Погледајте на ме, и дивите се, и метните руку на уста.
Mark me, and be astonished, and lay the hand upon the mouth.
6 Ја кад помислим, страх ме је, и гроза подузима тело моје.
Even when I think [thereon], I am affrighted, and trembling taketh hold of my flesh.
7 Зашто безбожници живе? Старе? И богате се?
Wherefore do the wicked live, grow old, yea, become mighty in power?
8 Семе њихово стоји тврдо пред њима заједно с њима, и натражје њихово пред њиховим очима.
Their seed is established with them in their sight, and their offspring before their eyes.
9 Куће су њихове на миру без страха, и прут Божји није над њима.
Their houses are safe from fear, neither is the rod of God upon them.
10 Бикови њихови скачу, и не промашују; краве њихове теле се, и не јалове се.
Their bull gendereth, and faileth not; their cow calveth, and casteth not her calf.
11 Испуштају као стадо децу своју, и синови њихови поскакују.
They send forth their little ones like a flock, and their children dance.
12 Подвикују уз бубањ и уз гусле, веселе се уза свиралу.
They shout to the tambour and harp, and rejoice at the sound of the pipe.
They spend their days in prosperity, and in a moment go down to Sheol. (Sheol h7585)
14 А Богу кажу: Иди од нас, јер нећемо да знамо за путеве твоје.
And they say unto God, Depart from us, for we desire not the knowledge of thy ways!
15 Шта је свемогући да му служимо? И каква нам је корист, да му се молимо?
What is the Almighty that we should serve him? and what are we profited if we pray unto him?
16 Гле, добро њихово није у њиховој руци; намера безбожничка далеко је од мене.
Behold, their prosperity is not in their hand. The counsel of the wicked be far from me!
17 Колико се пута гаси жижак безбожнички и долази им погибао, дели им муке у делу свом Бог?
How often is the lamp of the wicked put out, and cometh their calamity upon them? Doth he distribute sorrows [to them] in his anger?
18 Бивају као плева на ветру, као прах који разноси вихор?
Do they become as stubble before the wind, and as chaff that the storm carrieth away?
19 Чува ли Бог синовима његовим погибао њихову, плаћа им да осете?
God layeth up [the punishment of] his iniquity for his children; he rewardeth him, and he shall know [it]:
20 Виде ли својим очима погибао своју, и пију ли гнев Свемогућег?
His eyes shall see his destruction, and he shall drink of the fury of the Almighty.
21 Јер шта је њима стало до куће њихове након њих, кад се број месеца њихових прекрати?
For what pleasure should he have in his house after him, when the number of his months is cut off?
22 Еда ли ће Бога ко учити мудрости, који суди високима?
Can any teach God knowledge? And he it is that judgeth those that are high.
23 Један умире у потпуној сили својој, у миру и у срећи.
One dieth in his full strength, being wholly at ease and quiet;
24 Музилице су му пуне млека, и кости су му влажне од мождина.
His sides are full of fat, and the marrow of his bones is moistened;
25 А други умире ојађене душе, који није уживао добра.
And another dieth in bitterness of soul, and hath not tasted good:
26 Обојица леже у праху, и црви их покривају.
Together they lie down in the dust, and the worms cover them.
27 Ето, знам ваше мисли и судове, којима ми чините криво.
Lo, I know your thoughts, and the devices ye wrongfully imagine against me.
28 Јер говорите: Где је кућа силног, и где је шатор у коме наставају безбожници?
For ye say, Where is the house of the noble? and where the tent of the dwellings of the wicked?
29 Нисте ли никад питали путника? И шта вам казаше нећете да знате,
Have ye not asked the wayfarers? and do ye not regard their tokens:
30 Да се на дан погибли оставља задац, кад се пусти гнев.
That the wicked is reserved for the day of calamity? They are led forth to the day of wrath.
31 Ко ће га укорити у очи за живот његов? И ко ће му вратити шта је учинио?
Who shall declare his way to his face? and who shall repay him what he hath done?
32 Али се износи у гробље и остаје у гомили.
Yet is he carried to the graves, and watch is kept over the tomb.
33 Слатке су му груде од долине, и вуче за собом све људе, а онима који га претекоше нема броја.
The clods of the valley are sweet unto him; and every man followeth suit after him, as there were innumerable before him.
34 Како ме, дакле, напразно тешите кад у одговорима вашим остаје превара?
How then comfort ye me in vain? Your answers remain perfidious.
