Poslovice 2
1 Sine moj, ako primiš rijeèi moje, i zapovijesti moje sahraniš kod sebe,
My son, if thou wilt receive my sayings, and, my commandments, wilt treasure up by thee;
2 Da pazi uho tvoje na mudrost, i prigneš srce svoje k razumu,
So that thou direct, unto wisdom, thine ear, bend thy heart, unto understanding;
3 Ako prizoveš mudrost, i k razumu podigneš glas svoj,
Yea if, for understanding, thou cry aloud, for knowledge, utter thy voice;
4 Ako ga ustražiš kao srebro, i kao sakriveno blago ako dobro ustražiš;
If thou seek her as silver, and, like hid treasure, thou search for her,
5 Tada æeš razumjeti strah Gospodnji, i poznanje Božije naæi æeš.
Then, shalt thou understand the reverence of Yahweh, and, the knowledge of God, shalt thou find.
6 Jer Gospod daje mudrost, iz njegovijeh usta dolazi znanje i razum.
For, Yahweh, giveth wisdom, out of his mouth, knowledge and understanding;
7 Èuva pravima što doista jest, štit je onima koji hode u bezazlenosti,
Yea he treasureth, for the upright, safety, A shield [is he] to them who walk in integrity,
8 Da bi se držali staza pravijeh, a on èuva put svetaca svojih.
To him that observeth the paths of justice, yea, the way of his men of lovingkindness, he doth guard.
9 Tada æeš razumjeti pravdu i sud i što je pravo, i svaki dobri put.
Then, shalt thou understand righteousness and justice, and equity—every noble course.
10 Kad doðe mudrost u srce tvoje, i znanje omili duši tvojoj,
When wisdom entereth thy heart, and, knowledge, to thy soul, is sweet,
11 Pomnjivost æe paziti na te, razum æe te èuvati,
Discretion, shall watch over thee, understanding, shall preserve thee: —
12 Izbavljajuæi te od zla puta, od ljudi koji govore opake stvari,
To rescue thee from the way of the wrongful, from the man that speaketh perverse things;
13 Koji ostavljaju prave pute da idu putovima mraènijem,
From them who forsake the paths of rectitude, to walk in the ways of darkness;
14 Koji se raduju zlo èineæi, i igraju u zlijem opaèinama;
Who rejoice to do wrong, exult in the perversities of the wrongful;
15 Kojih su putovi krivi, i sami su opaki na stazama svojim;
Whose paths, are twisted, and they are tortuous in their tracks:
16 Izbavljajuæi te od žene tuðe, od tuðinke, koja laska svojim rijeèima,
To rescue thee, from the woman that is a stranger, from the female unknown, who with her speeches seduceth;
17 Koja ostavlja voða mladosti svoje, i zaboravlja zavjet Boga svojega.
Who forsaketh the friend of her youth, and, the covenant of her God, hath forgotten;
18 Jer k smrti vodi dom njezin, i k mrtvima staze njezine.
For she hath appointed, unto death, her house, and unto the shades, her courses;
19 Ko god uðe k njoj ne vraæa se, niti izlazi na put životni.
None who go in unto her, come back, neither attain they unto the paths of life:
20 Zato hodi putem dobrijeh, i drži se staza pravednièkih.
To the end that thou walk in the way of good men, and, the paths of the righteous, that thou observe.
21 Jer æe pravednici nastavati na zemlji, i bezazleni æe ostati na njoj.
For, the upright, shall abide on the earth, —and, the men of integrity, shall remain therein;
22 A bezbožni æe se istrijebiti sa zemlje, i bezakonici æe se išèupati iz nje.
But, the lawless, out of the earth, shall be cut off, and, traitors, shall they tear away therefrom.
