1 Od Pavla i Timotija, slugu Isusa Hrista, svima svetima u Hristu Isusu koji su u Filibi, s vladikama i ðakonima:
Paul, and Timothy, servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus, who are in Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Blagodat vam i mir od Boga oca našega i Gospoda Isusa Hrista.
Favor to you, and peace from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.
3 Zahvaljujem Bogu svojemu kad se god opomenem vas,
I thank my God upon every remembrance of you;
4 Svagda u svakoj molitvi svojoj za sve vas s radošæu moleæi se,
always in my prayers for you all, giving thanks with joy
5 Što vi postadoste zajednièari u jevanðelju, od prvoga dana i do danas;
for your contribution for the gospel, from the first day till now:
6 Uzdajuæi se u ovo isto da æe onaj koji je poèeo dobro djelo u vama dovršiti ga tja do dana Isusa Hrista.
having this very confidence, that he who has begun a good work among you, will continue to perfect it till the day of Jesus Christ.
7 Kao što je pravo da ja ovo mislim za sve vas, jer vas imam u srcu u okovima svojima i u odgovoru i potvrðivanju jevanðelja, kao sve zajednièare sa mnom u blagodati.
As it is just for me to think this concerning you all, because you have me at heart, both in my bonds, and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel. You are all partakers of my gratitude;
8 Jer Bog mi je svjedok da vas ljubim ljubavlju Isusa Hrista,
for God is my witness how vehemently I long after you all, with the tender affections of Jesus Christ.
9 I zato se molim Bogu da ljubav vaša još više i više izobiluje u razumu i svakoj volji,
And this I pray, that your love may yet abound more and more, with knowledge and with all discretion;
10 Da kušate šta je bolje, da budete èisti i bez spoticanja na dan Hristov,
that you may approve the things that are excellent; that you may be sincere and inoffensive till the day of Christ;
11 Napunjeni plodova pravde kroz Isusa Hrista, na slavu i hvalu Božiju.
filled with the fruit of righteousness, which is through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God.
12 Hoæu pak da znate, braæo, da ovo što se radi sa mnom iziðe za napredak jevanðelja,
Now I wish you to know, brethren that the things which have befallen me, have turned out rather to the advancement of the gospel.
13 Tako da se razglasi u svoj sudnici i kod sviju ostalijeh da su moji okovi za Hrista.
So that my bonds are manifested to be on account of Christ, through the whole palace, and in all the other places.
14 I mnoga braæa u Gospodu oslobodivši se okovima mojima veæma smiju govoriti rijeè Božiju bez straha.
And the greater number of the brethren in the Lord, made confident by my bonds, have become much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Istina, jedni iz zavisti i svaðe, a jedni od dobre volje Hrista propovijedaju.
Some, indeed, preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some, also, of good will.
16 Tako ovi uz prkos Hrista objavljuju neèisto, misleæi da æe nanijeti žalost mojijem okovima;
The latter, indeed, from love; knowing that I am set for the defense of the gospel;
17 A ovi iz ljubavi, znajuæi da za obranu jevanðelja ležim u tamnici.
the former preach Christ out of contention, not sincerely, thinking to add affliction to my bonds.
18 Šta dakle? Bilo kako mu drago, dvolièenjem ili istinom, Hristos se propovijeda; i zato se radujem, a i radovaæu se;
What, then? Still in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; even in this I do rejoice; yes, and will rejoice:
19 Jer znam da æe mi se ovo zbiti na spasenije vašom molitvom i pomoæu Duha Isusa Hrista.
for I know that this will turn out to me for salvation, through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ--
20 Kao što èekam i nadam se da se ni u èemu neæu postidjeti, nego da æe se i sad kao svagda sa svakom slobodom Hristos velièati u tijelu mojemu, bilo životom ili smræu.
that agreeably to my earnest expectation and hope, in nothing I shall be ashamed; but that with all boldness, as at all times, so now, also, Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
21 Jer je meni život Hristos a smrt dobitak.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 A kad mi življenje u tijelu plod donosi, to ne znam šta æu izabrati.
But whether to live in the flesh would be to my advantage; or what to choose, I do not know:
23 A oboje mi je milo, imajuæi želju otiæi i s Hristom biti, koje bi mnogo bolje bilo;
for I am in a strait between the two, having a strong desire to depart and be with Christ, which is by far the better.
24 Ali ostati u tijelu potrebnije je vas radi.
Nevertheless, to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 I ovo znam jamaèno da æu biti i ostati kod sviju vas na vaš napredak i radost vjere,
And being firmly persuaded of this, I know that I shall live and abide some time with you all, for the advancement of the joy of your faith;
26 Da hvala vaša mnome izobiluje u Hristu Isusu kad vam opet doðem.
and that your boasting concerning me in Christ Jesus, may abound, through my coming again to you.
27 Samo živite kao što se pristoji jevanðelju Hristovu, da vas vidim kad doðem ili ako vam ne doðem da èujem za vas da stojite u jednome duhu i jednodušno borite se za vjeru jevanðelja,
Only behave in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ; that whether I shall come and see you, ot, being absent, shall hear of your affairs, that you are steadfast in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 I ni u èem da se ne plašite od protivnika; koje je njima znak pogibli a vama spasenija, i to od Boga;
and not terrified in anything by your adversaries; which is to them a demonstration of perdition; but to you of salvation, and that from God.
29 Jer se vama darova Hrista radi ne samo da ga vjerujete nego i da stradate za nj,
For to you it is graciously given, on the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
30 Imajuæi onu istu borbu kakovu u meni vidjeste i sad èujete za mene.
having the very same conflict which you saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
