1 Zovi; hoæe li ti se ko odazvati? i komu æeš se izmeðu svetijeh obratiti?
"Call now; is there any who will answer you? To which of the holy ones will you turn?
2 Doista bezumnoga ubija gnjev, i ludoga usmræuje srdnja.
For resentment kills the foolish man, and jealousy kills the simple.
3 Ja vidjeh bezumnika gdje se ukorijenio; ali odmah prokleh stan njegov.
I have seen the foolish taking root, but suddenly I cursed his habitation.
4 Sinovi su njegovi daleko od spasenja i satiru se na vratima a nema ko da izbavi.

but man is born to trouble, as the sparks fly upward.
8 Ali ja bih Boga tražio, i pred Boga bih iznio stvar svoju,
"But as for me, I would seek God. I would commit my cause to God,
9 Koji èini stvari velike i neispitljive, divne, kojima nema broja;
who does great things that can't be fathomed, marvelous things without number;
10 Koji spušta dažd na zemlju i šalje vodu na polja;
who gives rain on the earth, and sends waters on the fields;
11 Koji podiže ponižene, i žalosne uzvišuje k spasenju;
so that he sets up on high those who are low, those who mourn are exalted to safety.
12 Koji rasipa misli lukavijeh da ruke njihove ne svrše ništa;
He frustrates the devices of the crafty, So that their hands can't perform their enterprise.
13 Koji hvata mudre u njihovu lukavstvu, i namjeru opakih obara;
He traps the wise in their own craftiness, and the counsel of the cunning are brought to a quick end.
14 Danju nailaze na mrak, i u podne pipaju kao po noæi.
They meet with darkness in the day time, and grope at noonday as in the night.
15 On izbavlja ubogoga od maèa, od usta njihovijeh i od ruke silnoga.
But he saves from the sword of their mouth, even the needy from the hand of the mighty.
16 Tako ima nadanja siromahu, a zloæa zatiskuje usta svoja.
So the poor has hope, and injustice shuts her mouth.
17 Gle, blago èovjeku koga Bog kara; i zato ne odbacuj karanja svemoguæega.
"Look, happy is the man whom God corrects. Therefore do not despise the chastening of Shaddai.
18 Jer on zadaje rane, i zavija; on udara, i ruke njegove iscjeljuju.
For he wounds, and binds up. He injures, and his hands make whole.
19 Iz šest nevolja izbaviæe te; ni u sedmoj neæe te se zlo dotaæi.
He will deliver you in six troubles; yes, in seven there shall no evil touch you.
20 U gladi izbaviæe te od smrti i u ratu od maèa.
In famine he will redeem you from death; in war, from the power of the sword.
21 Kad jezik šiba, biæeš sakriven, niti æeš se bojati pustoši kad doðe.
You shall be hidden from the scourge of the tongue, neither shall you be afraid of destruction when it comes.
22 Smijaæeš se pustoši i gladi, niti æeš se bojati zvijerja zemaljskoga.
At destruction and famine you shall laugh, neither shall you be afraid of the animals of the earth.
23 Jer æeš s kamenjem poljskim biti u vjeri, i zvijerje æe poljsko biti u miru s tobom.
For you shall be in league with the stones of the field. The animals of the field shall be at peace with you.
24 I vidjeæeš da je mir u šatoru tvom, kuæiæeš kuæu svoju i neæeš se prevariti.
You shall know that your tent is in peace. You shall visit your fold, and shall miss nothing.
25 Vidjeæeš kako æe ti se umnožiti sjeme tvoje, i porod æe tvoj biti kao trava na zemlji.
You shall know also that your descendants shall be great, and your offspring as the grass of the earth.
26 Star æeš otiæi u grob kao što se žito snosi u stog u svoje vrijeme.
You shall come to your grave in a full age, like a shock of grain comes in its season.
27 Eto, razgledasmo to, tako je; poslušaj i razumij.
Look this, we have searched it, so it is. Hear it, and know it for your good."
