1 Tada prestaše ona tri èovjeka odgovarati Jovu, jer se èinjaše da je pravedan.
So these three men ceased to respond to Job, because, he, was righteous in their eyes.
2 A Elijuj sin Varahilov od Vuza, roda Ramova, razgnjevi se na Jova što se sam graðaše pravedniji od Boga;
Then was kindled the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite of the family of Ram, —against Job, was kindled his anger, because he justified his own soul rather than God;
3 I na tri prijatelja njegova razgnjevi se što ne naðoše odgovora i opet osuðivahu Jova.
and, against his three friends, was kindled his anger, —because that they found not a response, and condemned God.
4 Jer Elijuj èekaše dokle oni govorahu s Jovom, jer bijahu stariji od njega.
But, Elihu, had waited for Job with words, because the others were older than he.
5 Pa kad vidje Elijuj da nema odgovora u ustima ona tri èovjeka, raspali se gnjev njegov.
Howbeit, when Elihu saw that there was no response in the mouth of the three men, then was kindled his anger.
6 I progovori Elijuj sin Varahilov od Vuza, i reèe: ja sam najmlaði, a vi ste starci, zato se bojah i ne smijah vam kazati što mislim.
So then Elihu, son of Barachel, the Buzite, responded and said: —Young, am I, whereas, ye, are aged, For this cause, I faltered, and feared—to shew my knowledge unto you:
7 Mišljah: neka govori starost, i mnoge godine neka objave mudrost.
I said, Days, should speak, —and, the multitude of years, should make known wisdom.
8 Ali je duh u ljudima, i duh svemoguæega urazumljuje ih.
Yet surely, there is a spirit in men, and, the inspiration of the Almighty, giveth them understanding;
9 Veliki nijesu svagda mudri, i starci ne znaju svagda šta je pravo.
Great men, may not be wise, nor, elders, understand justice.
10 Zato velim: poslušaj me da kažem i ja kako mislim.
Therefore, I said, Hearken unto me, I will show my knowledge—even I.
11 Eto, èekao sam da vi izgovorite, slušao sam razloge vaše dokle izviðaste besjedu.
Lo! I waited for your words, I kept giving ear for your reasons, until ye should search out what to say;
12 Pazio sam, ali gle, nijedan od vas ne sapre Jova, ne odgovori na njegove rijeèi.
Yea, unto you, gave I diligent heed, —But lo! there was, for Job, nothing to convince, nor could you of you answer his speeches.
13 Može biti da æete reæi: naðosmo mudrost, Bog æe ga oboriti, ne èovjek.
Lest ye should say, We have found out wisdom. GOD, must put him to flight, not man.
14 Nije na me upravio besjede, ni ja mu neæu odgovarati vašim rijeèima.
Since he directed not to me discourse, therefore, with your speeches, will I not reply to him.
15 Smeli su se, ne odgovaraju više, nestalo im je rijeèi.
They were dismayed, they responded no more, they suffered speech to forsake them;
16 Èekao sam, ali ne govore, stadoše, i više ne odgovaraju.
Though I waited, yet could they not speak, Surely they came to a stand, they responded no more.
17 Odgovoriæu i ja za se, kazaæu i ja kako mislim.
I will respond, even I—on my part, I will shew my knowledge, even I!
18 Jer sam pun rijeèi, tijesno je duhu u meni.
For I am full of discourse, The spirit in my bosom, presseth me on.
19 Gle, trbuh je moj kao vino bez oduške, i raspukao bi se kao nov mijeh.
Lo! my bosom, is like wine not opened, Like new wine-skins, it will burst.
20 Govoriæu da odahnem, otvoriæu usne svoje, i odgovoriæu.
I will speak, that I may freely breathe, I will open my lips and respond.
21 Neæu gledati ko je ko, i èovjeku æu govoriti bez laskanja.
Let me be partial to no man, and, unto no son of earth, give flattering titles,
22 Jer ne umijem laskati; odmah bi me uzeo tvorac moj.
Surely I know not how to give flattering titles, How soon might my Maker take me away!
