Postanak 11
1 A bijaše na cijeloj zemlji jedan jezik i jednake rijeèi.
So it came to pass that, all the earth, was of one manner of speech, —and of one stock of words.
2 A kad otidoše od istoka, naðoše ravnicu u zemlji Senarskoj, i naseliše se ondje.
And it came to pass as they brake away onwards, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar, and dwelt there.
3 Pa rekoše meðu sobom: hajde da pravimo ploèe i da ih u vatri peèemo. I bjehu im opeke mjesto kamena i smola zemljana mjesto kreèa.
Then said they, each man to his friend, Come on! let us make bricks, and burn them thoroughly, —So the bricks, served them for stone, and bitumen, served them for mortar,
4 Poslije rekoše: hajde da sazidamo grad i kulu, kojoj æe vrh biti do neba, da steèemo sebi ime, da se ne bismo rasijali po zemlji.
And they said Come on! let us build for ourselves a city, and a tower with its head in the heavens, so let us make for ourselves a name, —lest we be scattered abroad over the face of all the earth.
5 A Gospod siðe da vidi grad i kulu, što zidahu sinovi èovjeèiji.
And Yahweh came down, to behold the city, and the tower, —which the sons of men had built.
6 I reèe Gospod: gle, narod jedan, i jedan jezik u svijeh, i to poèeše raditi, i neæe im smetati ništa da ne urade što su naumili.
Then said Yahweh: Lo! one people and one manner of speech, have they all, this, then is what they have begun to do, —now, therefore, nothing will be withholden from them which they may plan to do.
7 Hajde da siðemo, i da im pometemo jezik, da ne razumiju jedan drugoga što govore.
Come on! let us go down, and there confuse their speech, —that they may not understand, each man the speech of his friend.
8 Tako ih Gospod rasu odande po svoj zemlji, te ne sazidaše grada.
So Yahweh scattered them from thence over the face of all the earth, —and so they left off building the city.
9 Zato se prozva Vavilon, jer ondje pomete Gospod jezik cijele zemlje, i odande ih rasu Gospod po svoj zemlji.
For this cause, was the name thereof called Babel ["Confusion"]; because there, did Yahweh confuse the speech of all the earth, —and, from thence, did Yahweh scatter them abroad, over the face of all the earth.
10 Ovo je pleme Simovo: bijaše Simu sto godina, kad rodi Arfaksada, druge godine poslije potopa.
These, are the genealogies of Shem, Shem was a hundred years old when he begat Arpachshad, two years after the flood
11 A rodiv Arfaksada poživje Sim pet stotina godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Shem lived after he begat Arpachshad, five hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters.
12 A Arfaksad poživje trideset i pet godina, i rodi Salu;
And, Arpachshad, lived thirty-five years, —and begat Shelah;
13 A rodiv Salu poživje Arfaksad èetiri stotine i tri godine, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Arpachshad lived after he begat Shelah, four hundred and three years, —and begat sons and daughters.
14 A Sala poživje trideset godina, i rodi Evera;
And, Shelah, lived thirty years, —and begat Eber;
15 A rodiv Evera poživje Sala èetiri stotine i tri godine, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Shelah lived, after he begat Eber, four hundred and three years, —and begat sons and daughters.
16 A Ever poživje trideset i èetiri godine, i rodi Faleka;
And Eber lived thirty-four years, —and begat Peleg;
17 A rodiv Faleka poživje Ever èetiri stotine i trideset godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Eber lived after he begat Peleg, four hundred and thirty years, —and begat sons and daughters.
18 A Falek poživje trideset godina i rodi Ragava;
And Peleg lived thirty years, and begat Reu:
19 A rodiv Ragava poživje Falek dvjesta i devet godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Peleg lived after he begat Reu, two hundred and nine years, —and begat sons and daughters.
20 A Ragav poživje trideset i dvije godine i rodi Seruha;
And Reu lived thirty-two years—and begat Serug;
21 A rodiv Seruha poživje Ragav dvjesta i sedam godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Reu lived after he begat Serug, two hundred and seven years, —and begat sons and daughters.
22 A Seruh poživje trideset godina, i rodi Nahora;
And Serug lived thirty years, —and begat Nahor;
23 A rodiv Nahora poživje Seruh dvjesta godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Serug lived after he begat Nahor, two hundred years, —and begat sons and daughters.
24 A Nahor poživje dvadeset i devet godina, i rodi Taru;
And Nahor lived twenty-nine years, —and begat Terah;
25 A rodiv Taru poživje Nahor sto i devetnaest godina, raðajuæi sinove i kæeri.
and Nahor lived, after he begat Terah, a hundred and nineteen years, —and begat sons and daughters.
26 A Tara poživje sedamdeset godina, i rodi Avrama, Nahora i Arana.
And Terah lived seventy years, —and begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran.
27 A ovo je pleme Tarino: Tara rodi Avrama, Nahora i Arana; a Aran rodi Lota.
These, then are the generations of Terah, Terah begat Abram, Nahor, and Haran, —and, Haran, begat Lot;
28 I umrije Aran prije Tare oca svojega na postojbini svojoj, u Uru Haldejskom.
and Haran died, in the presence of Terah his father, —in the land of his birth, in Ur of the Chaldees.
29 I oženi se Avram i Nahor, i ženi Avramovoj bješe ime Sara a ženi Nahorovoj ime Melha, kæi Arama oca Melhe i Jeshe.
And Abram and Nahor took to themselves wives; the name of Abram’s wife, was Sarai; and, the name of Nahor’s wife, Milcah, daughter of Haran father of Milcah, and father of Iscah.
30 A Sara bješe nerotkinja, i ne imaše poroda.
And, Sarai, remained barren, —she had no child,
31 I uze Tara sina svojega Avrama i Lota sina Aranova, unuka svojega, i Saru snahu svoju, ženu Avrama sina svojega; i poðoše zajedno iz Ura Haldejskoga da idu u zemlju Hanansku, i doðoše do Harana, i ondje se nastaniše.
And Terah took Abram his son and Lot son of Haran his son’s son, and Sarai his daughter-in-law, wife of Abram his son, —and came forth with them out of Ur of the Chaldees, that they might go their way towards the land of Canaan, and they came in as far as Haran and dwelt there.
32 I poživje Tara svega dvjesta i pet godina; i umrije Tara u Haranu.
And the days of Terah were two hundred and five years, —and Terah died in Haran.
