Ponovljeni Zakon 8
1 Držite i tvorite sve zapovijesti koje vam ja zapovijedam danas, da biste živi bili i umnožili se, i da biste ušli u zemlju za koju se Gospod zakleo ocima vašim, i da biste je naslijedili.
All the commandment which I am commanding thee to-day, shalt thou, observe, to do, —that ye may, live, and multiply, and enter in and possess the land, which Yahweh sware unto your fathers.
2 I opominji se svega puta kojim te je vodio Gospod Bog tvoj èetrdeset godina po pustinji, da bi te namuèio i iskušao, da se zna šta ti je u srcu, hoæeš li držati zapovijesti njegove ili neæeš.
So then, thou shalt remember all the way in which Yahweh thy God caused thee to journey these forty years in the desert, —that he might humble thee to put thee to the proof to know what was in thy heart, —whether thou wouldest keep his commandments or not.
3 I muèio te je, i glaðu te morio; ali te je opet hranio manom, za koju ti nijesi znao ni oci tvoji, da bi ti pokazao da èovjek ne živi o samom hljebu nego o svemu što izlazi iz usta Gospodnjih.
So he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna which thou hadst not known, neither had thy fathers known, —that he might lead thee to consider that not on bread alone, shall the son of earth live, but on whatsoever cometh from the bidding of Yahweh, shall the son of earth live.
4 Odijelo tvoje ne ovetša na tebi niti noga tvoja oteèe za ovijeh èetrdeset godina;
Thy mantle, hath not fallen with age from off thee, and, thy foot, hath not become swollen, —these forty years.
5 Zato poznaj u srcu svom da te Gospod Bog tvoj gaji kao što èovjek gaji svoje dijete.
Thou must consider, then with thy heart, —that as a man chasteneth his son, Yahweh thy God, hath been chastening thee.
6 I drži zapovijesti Gospoda Boga svojega hodeæi putovima njegovijem i bojeæi se njega.
Thou shalt therefore keep the commandments of Yahweh thy God, —to walk in his ways and to revere him.
7 Jer Gospod Bog tvoj uvešæe te sada u dobru zemlju, u zemlju u kojoj ima dosta potoka i izvora i jezera, što izviru po dolinama i po brdima;
For, Yahweh thy God, is bringing thee into a good land; a land of ravines of water, of fountains and depths, coming forth in valley, and in mountain:
8 U zemlju izobilnu pšenicom i jeèmom i vinovom lozom i smokvama i šipcima, zemlju izobilnu maslinom, od koje biva ulje, i medom;
a land of wheat and barley, and vine and fig-tree, and pomegranate, —a land of olive oil, and honey:
9 U zemlju, gdje neæeš sirotinjski jesti hljeba, gdje ti neæe ništa nedostajati; u zemlju, gdje je kamenje gvožðe i gdje æeš iz brda njezinijeh sjeæi mjed.
a land wherein not in scarcity, shalt thou eat food, thou shalt lack nothing therein, —a land whose stones are iron, and out of whose hills thou mayest hew copper.
10 Ješæeš i biæeš sit, pa blagosiljaj Gospoda Boga svojega za dobru zemlju koju ti da.
So then thou shalt eat and be satisfied, —and bless Yahweh thy God, for the good land which he hath given unto thee.
11 I èuvaj se da ne zaboraviš Gospoda Boga svojega bacivši u nemar zapovijesti njegove i zakone njegove i uredbe njegove, koje ti ja zapovijedam danas.
Take heed to thyself, lest thou forget Yahweh thy God, —so as not to keep his commandments and his regulations and his statutes, which I am commanding thee to-day;
12 I kad uzjedeš i nasitiš se, i dobre kuæe naèiniš i u njima staneš živjeti,
lest thou eat, and be satisfied, —and goodly houses, thou build and inhabit;
13 I kad se goveda tvoja i ovce tvoje naplode, i kad ti se namnoži srebro i zlato, i što god imaš kad ti se namnoži,
and thy herd and thy flock, increase, and silver and gold, increase unto thee, —and all that thou hast, increase;
14 Nemoj da se ponese srce tvoje i zaboraviš Gospoda Boga svojega, koji te je izveo iz zemlje Misirske, iz kuæe ropske;
and so thy heart be lifted up, —and thou forget Yahweh thy God, who brought thee forth out of the land of Egypt out of the house of servants;
15 Koji te je vodio preko one pustinje velike i strašne gdje žive zmije vatrene i skorpije, gdje je suša a nema vode; koji ti je izveo vodu iz tvrdoga kamena;
who caused thee to journey through the great and terrible desert, of fiery serpents and scorpions, and thirsty wastes where was no water, —who brought forth for thee water out of the flinty rock;
16 Koji te je hranio u pustinji manom, za koju ne znaše oci tvoji, da bi te namuèio i iskušao te, i najposlije da bi ti dobro uèinio.
who fed thee with manna in the desert, which thy fathers had not known, —that he might humble thee, and that he might put thee to the proof, to do thee good in thy hereafter,
17 Niti govori u srcu svojem: moja snaga, i sila moje ruke dobavila mi je ovo blago.
and lest thou shouldest say in thy heart, —Mine own strength and the might of mine own hand, have gotten me this wealth.
18 Nego se opominji Gospoda Boga svojega; jer ti on daje snagu da dobavljaš blago, da bi potvrdio zavjet svoj, za koji se zakleo ocima tvojim, kao što se vidi danas.
But thou shalt remember Yahweh thy God, that it was, he, who had been giving thee strength to get wealth, —that so he might establish his covenant which he sware to thy fathers (as at this day).
19 Ako li zaboraviš Gospoda Boga svojega, i poðeš za drugim bogovima i njima staneš služiti i klanjati se, svjedoèim vam danas da æete zacijelo propasti,
But it shall be if thou forget, Yahweh thy God, and go after ether gods, and serve them, and bow thyself down to them, I testify against you to-day, that ye shall perish:
20 Propašæete kao narodi koje Gospod potire ispred vas, jer ne poslušaste glasa Gospoda Boga svojega.
like the nations which, Yahweh, is causing to perish from before you, so, shall ye perish, because ye would not hearken unto the voice of Yahweh your God.
