1 Petrova 1
1 Od Petra, apostola Isusa Hrista, izbranijem došljacima, rasijanijem po Pontu, Galatiji, Kapadokiji, Aziji i Vitiniji;
Peter, an Apostle of Jesus Christ, to the elect sojourners of the dispersion, of Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia--
2 Po proviðenju Boga oca, svetinjom Duha dovedenijem u poslušanje i kropljenje krvi Isusa Hrista: da vam se umnoži blagodat i mir.
according to the predetermination of God the Father, by a sanctification of the Spirit, in order to obedience, and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Favor and peace be multiplied to you.
3 Blagosloven Bog i otac Gospoda našega Isusa Hrista, koji nas po velikoj milosti svojoj prerodi za živ nad vaskrsenijem Isusa Hrista iz mrtvijeh,
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his great mercy, has regenerated us to a lively hope, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 Za našljedstvo nepropadljivo, koje neæe istruhnuti ni uvenuti, saèuvano na nebesima za vas,
to an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and unfading, preserved in the heavens for us;
5 Koje je sila Božija vjerom saèuvala za spasenije, pripravljeno da se javi u pošljednje vrijeme;
who, by the power of God, are guarded through faith, to the salvation prepared to be revealed in the last time.
6 Kojemu radujte se, premda ste sad malo gdje je potrebno) žalosni u razliènijem napastima,
On account of this, be exceeding glad, though now, for a little while, (since it is needful, ) you are made sorry by divers trials;
7 Da se kušanje vaše vjere mnogo vrednije od zlata propadljivoga koje se kuša ognjem naðe na hvalu i èast i slavu, kad se pokaže Isus Hristos;
that the trying of your faith, (much more precious than of gold, which perishes, though proved by fire, ) may be found to praise, and honor, and glory, at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
8 Kojega ne vidjevši ljubite, i kojega sad ne gledajuæi no vjerujuæi ga radujete se radošæu neiskazanom i proslavljenom,
whom, not having seen, you love; on whom, not now looking, but believing, you greatly rejoice, with joy unspeakable and full of glory--
9 Primajuæi kraj svoje vjere, spasenije dušama.
receiving the consummation of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
10 Koje spasenije tražiše i ispitivaše za nj proroci, koji za vašu blagodat prorekoše;
Concerning which salvation, the prophets inquired accurately, and searched diligently, who have prophesied concerning the favor bestowed on you;
11 Ispitujuæi u kakovo ili u koje vrijeme javljaše Duh Hristov u njima, naprijed svjedoèeæi za Hristove muke i za slave po tome;
searching diligently of what things, and what kind of time, the Spirit of Christ, who was in them, did signify, when he testified before the sufferings of Christ, and the glories following these--
12 Kojima se otkri da ne samijem sebi nego nama služahu ovijem što vam se sad javi po onima koji vam propovjediše jevanðelje poslanijem s neba Duhom svetijem, u koje anðeli žele zaviriti.
to whom it was revealed, that, not for themselves, but for us, they ministered these things; which have now been reported to you, by them who have declared the glad tidings to you, with the Holy Spirit sent down from heaven: into which things, angels earnestly desire to look attentively.
13 Zato, ljubazni, zapregnuvši bedra svojega uma budite trijezni, i zacijelo se nadajte blagodati koja æe vam se prinijeti kad doðe Isus Hristos.
Wherefore, having the loins of your mind girded, being vigilant, constantly hope for the gift to be brought to you, at the revelation of Jesus Christ.
14 Kao poslušna djeca, ne vladajuæi se po prvijem željama u svojemu neznanju,
As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts, in your ignorance;
15 Nego po svecu koji vas je pozvao, i vi budite sveti u svemu življenju.
but as he who has called you is holy, be you also holy;
16 Jer je pisano: budite sveti, jer sam ja svet.
for it is written, "Be you holy, because I am holy."
17 I ako zovete ocem onoga, koji ne gledajuæi ko je ko, sudi svakome po djelu, provodite vrijeme svojega življenja sa strahom,
And seeing you call on the Father, who, without respect of persons, judges according to every man's work--pass the time of your sojourning here, in fear;
18 Znajuæi da se propadljivijem srebrom ili zlatom ne iskupiste iz sujetnoga svojeg življenja, koje ste vidjeli od otaca;
knowing that, not with corruptible things, as silver and gold, you were redeemed from your foolish behavior, delivered to you by your fathers;
19 Nego skupocjenom krvlju Hrista, kao bezazlena i preèista jagnjeta;
but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish, and without spot;
20 Koji je odreðen još prije postanja svijeta, a javio se u pošljednja vremena vas radi,
predetermined, indeed, before the foundation of the world, but manifested in these last times for you;
21 Koji kroz njega vjerujete Boga koji ga podiže iz mrtvijeh, i dade mu slavu, da bi vaša vjera i nadanje bilo u Boga.
who through him, believe in God, who raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.
22 Duše svoje oèistivši u poslušanju istine Duhom za bratoljublje nedvolièno, od èista srca ljubite dobro jedan drugoga,
Wherefore, having purified your souls by obeying the truth, through the Spirit, to unfeigned brotherly love, love one another, from a pure heart, fervently:
23 Kao preroðeni ne od sjemena koje truhne, nego od onog koje ne truhne, rijeèju živoga Boga, koja ostaje dovijeka. (aiōn g165)
having been regenerated, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, through the word of the living God, which remains. (aiōn g165)
24 Jer je svako tijelo kao trava, i svaka slava èovjeèija kao cvijet travni: osuši se trava, i cvijet njezin otpade;
"For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower of it falls down; but the word of the Lord remains forever."
