1 U to vrijeme razbolje se Avija sin Jerovoamov.

At that time, fell sick, Abijah son of Jeroboam.

2 I Jerovoam reèe ženi svojoj: ustani i preobuci se da te ne poznadu da si žena Jerovoamova; pak idi u Silom. Eto, ondje je Ahija prorok, koji mi je kazao da æu biti car nad ovijem narodom.

Then said Jeroboam to his wife—Arise, I pray thee, and feign thyself another, that it be not known, that, thou, art the wife of Jeroboam, —and thou shalt go thy way to Shiloh, lo! there, is Ahijah the prophet, who promised I should be king over this people;

3 I ponesi deset hljebova i kolaèa i žban meda, pa otidi k njemu; on æe ti kazati šta æe biti od djeteta.

and thou shall take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a bottle of honey, and shalt go unto him, —he, will tell thee what shall befall the young man.

4 I uèini tako žena Jerovoamova, i ustavši otide u Silom i uðe u kuæu Ahijinu. Ahija pak ne mogaše vidjeti, jer mu oèi bijahu potamnjele od starosti.

And the wife of Jeroboam, did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and entered the house of Ahijah, —now, Ahijah, could not see, for his eyes were fixed, by reason of his old age.

5 Ali Gospod reèe Ahiji: eto ide žena Jerovoamova da te pita za sina svojega, jer je bolestan; ti joj kaži to i to; a ona kad doðe uèiniæe se da je druga.

But, Yahweh, had said unto Ahijah—Lo! the wife of Jeroboam, coming to enquire something of thee, concerning her son, for he is sick, thus and so, shalt thou speak unto her, —though, when she cometh in, she feign to be a stranger-woman.

6 I Ahija èuvši šuštanje nogu njezinijeh kad uðe na vrata, reèe: hodi, ženo Jerovoamova; što se èiniš da si druga? Ja sam poslan k tebi da ti zlo kažem.

So it came to pass, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she entered the doorway, that he said—Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam, —wherefore, is it that thou art feigning to be a stranger-woman, seeing that, I, am sent unto thee, with something hard to bear?

7 Idi, reci Jerovoamu: ovako veli Gospod Bog Izrailjev: što sam te podigao izmeðu naroda i postavio te voðem narodu svojemu Izrailju,

Go, say to Jeroboam—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the midst of the people, —and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel;

8 I otrgav carstvo od doma Davidova dadoh tebi, a ti ne bi kao sluga moj David, koji je držao zapovijesti moje i hodio za mnom svijem srcem svojim èineæi samo što je pravo preda mnom;

and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to thee, —and yet thou hast not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me, with all his heart, to do only that which was right in mine eyes;

9 Nego si radio gore od svijeh koji biše prije tebe, i otišao si i naèinio sebi druge bogove i likove livene da bi me dražio, pa si me bacio za leða svoja;

but hast made wicked thy doings beyond any who were before thee, —and hast gone and made thee ether gods, even molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast, me, behind thy back,

10 Zato, evo, ja æu pustiti zlo na dom Jerovoamov, i istrijebiæu Jerovoamu i ono što mokri uza zid, i uhvaæenoga i ostavljenoga u Izrailju, i dom æu Jerovoamov omesti kao što se mete kao, da ga ne ostane ništa.

therefore, behold me! bringing misfortune against the house of Jeroboam, and I will cut off the meanest pertaining to Jeroboam, whether shut up or left at large, in Israel, —and will consume after the house of Jeroboam, as one consumeth dung, till it be all gone:

11 Ko Jerovoamov pogine u gradu, izješæe ga psi, a ko pogine u polju, izješæe ga ptice nebeske; jer Gospod reèe.

Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat, —For, Yahweh, hath spoken.

12 A ti ustani, idi kuæi svojoj; i kad stupiš nogama svojim u grad, odmah æe umrijeti dijete.

Thou, therefore, arise, go to thine own house, —as thy feet are entering the city, the young man shall die.

13 I sav æe Izrailj plakati za njim, i pogrepšæe ga; jer æe on sam od doma Jerovoamova doæi u grob, jer se na njemu samom u domu Jerovoamovu naðe nešto dobra pred Gospodom Bogom Izrailjevijem.

Then shall all Israel lament for him, and bury him, for, this one, pertaining to Jeroboam, shall reach a burying-place, —because there hath been found in him something good toward Yahweh, God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.

14 A Gospod æe podignuti sebi cara nad Izrailjem, koji æe istrijebiti dom Jerovoamov u onaj dan; da, šta? sad veæ.

Therefore will Yahweh raise up for himself a king over Israel, who will cut off the house of Jeroboam, this day, but why, even now?

15 I udariæe Gospod Izrailja da æe se zaljuljati kao što se ljulja trska u vodi, i išèupaæe Izrailja iz ove dobre zemlje, koju je dao ocima njihovijem, i razasuæe ih daleko preko rijeke zato što naèiniše sebi lugove gnjeveæi Gospoda.

Therefore will Yahweh smite Israel, as a reed shaketh in water, and will root out Israel, from off this goodly soil, which he gave unto their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River (Euphrates), —because they have made their Sacred Stems, provoking Yahweh to anger:

16 I napustiæe Izrailja za grijehe Jerovoamove, kojima je griješio i na grijeh naveo Izrailja.

That he may deliver up Israel, —on account of the sin of Jeroboam, which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit.

17 Tada usta žena Jerovoamova, i otide i doðe u Tersu; i kad stupi na prag kuæni umrije dijete.

Then arose the wife of Jeroboam, and went her way and entered Tirzah, —as, she, was coming into the entrance hall, the young man died.

18 I pogreboše ga, i sav Izrailj plaka za njim po rijeèi Gospodnjoj, koju reèe preko sluge svojega Ahije proroka.

And, when they buried him, all Israel lamented him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through his servant Ahijah the prophet.

19 A ostala djela Jerovoamova, kako je vojevao i kako je carovao, eno zapisana su u dnevniku careva Izrailjevijeh.

Now, the rest of the story of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold them! written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.

20 A carova Jerovoam dvadeset i dvije godine; i poèinu kod otaca svojih, a Nadav sin njegov zacari se na njegovo mjesto.

And, the days which Jeroboam reigned, were twenty-two years, —and he slept with his fathers, and, Nadab his son, reigned, in his stead.

21 A Rovoam sin Solomunov carovaše nad Judom; bješe Rovoamu èetrdeset i jedna godina kad poèe carovati, i carova sedamnaest godina u Jerusalimu gradu, koji izabra Gospod izmeðu svijeh plemena Izrailjevijeh da ondje namjesti ime svoje. Materi njegovoj bješe ime Nama Amonka.

And, Rehoboam, son of Solomon, reigned in Judah, —forty-one years old, was Rehoboam when he began to reign, and seventeen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen to put his Name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and, his mother’s name, was Naamah, the Ammonitess.

22 I Juda èinjaše što je zlo pred Gospodom; i grijesima svojim kojim griješahu dražiše ga veæma nego oci njihovi svijem što èiniše.

And Judah did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and provoked him to jealousy, above all that their fathers had done, with their sins which they committed.

23 Jer i oni naèiniše sebi visine i stupove i lugove na svakom visokom humu i pod svakim zelenim drvetom.

And, they also, built for themselves high places and pillars, and Sacred Stems, —upon every high hill, and under every green tree.

24 A bijaše i adžuvana u zemlji, i èinjahu sve gadove naroda koje bješe istjerao Gospod ispred sinova Izrailjevijeh.

Moreover also, there were, male devotees, in the land, —they did according to all the abominable practices of the nations, which Yahweh dispossessed from before the sons of Israel.

25 A pete godine carovanja Rovoamova doðe Sisak car Misirski na Jerusalim.

And it came to pass, in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem;

26 I uze blago iz doma Gospodnjega i blago iz doma careva, sve to uze; i uze sve štitove zlatne koje naèini Solomun.

and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, yea, the whole, took he away, —and took away all the bucklers of gold, which, Solomon, had made.

27 I na njihovo mjesto naèini car Rovoam štitove od mjedi, i predade ih starješinama nad stražarima, koji èuvahu vrata doma careva.

So King Rehoboam made, in their stead, bucklers of bronze, —and committed them unto the hand of the captains of the runners, who kept guard at the entrance of the house of the king.

28 I kad car iðaše u dom Gospodnji, nošahu ih stražari, a poslije ih opet ostavljahu u riznicu svoju.

And so it was, whensoever the king went into the house of Yahweh, the runners bare them, and then brought them back into the chamber of the runners.

29 A ostala djela Rovoamova, i sve što je èinio, nije li zapisano u dnevniku careva Judinijeh?

Now, the rest of the story of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?

30 A bijaše rat izmeðu Rovoama i Jerovoama jednako.

And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, continually.

31 I poèinu Rovoam kod otaca svojih, i bi pogreben kod otaca svojih u gradu Davidovu. A ime materi njegovoj bješe Nama Amonka. A na mjesto njegovo zacari se Avijam sin njegov.

So then Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and, the name of his mother, was Naamah the Ammonitess, —and, Abijah his son, reigned, in his stead.
