1 anantara. m yii"su rdvaada"sa"si. syaan aahuuyaamedhyabhuutaan tyaajayitu. m sarvvaprakaararogaan pii. daa"sca "samayitu. m tebhya. h saamarthyamadaat|
And having called His twelve disciples to Himself, He gave to them power over unclean spirits, so as to be casting them out, and to be healing every disease and every sickness.
2 te. saa. m dvaada"sapre. syaa. naa. m naamaanyetaani| prathama. m "simon ya. m pitara. m vadanti, tata. h para. m tasya sahaja aandriya. h, sivadiyasya putro yaakuub
And of the twelve apostles the names are these: first, Simon, who is called Peter, and his brother Andrew; James of Zebedee, and his brother John;
3 tasya sahajo yohan; philip barthalamay thomaa. h karasa. mgraahii mathi. h, aalpheyaputro yaakuub,
Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the tax collector; James of Alpheus, and Lebbeus who was surnamed Thaddeus;
4 kinaaniiya. h "simon, ya ii. skariyotiiyayihuudaa. h khrii. s.ta. m parakare. arpayat|
Simon the Zealot, and Judas Iscariot, who also delivered Him up.
5 etaan dvaada"sa"si. syaan yii"su. h pre. sayan ityaaj naapayat, yuuyam anyade"siiyaanaa. m padavii. m "semiro. niiyaanaa. m kimapi nagara nca na pravi"sye
These twelve Jesus sent forth, having given command to them, saying, “Do not go away to the way of the nations, and do not go into a city of the Samaritans,
6 israayelgotrasya haaritaa ye ye me. saaste. saameva samiipa. m yaata|
and be going rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
7 gatvaa gatvaa svargasya raajatva. m savidhamabhavat, etaa. m kathaa. m pracaarayata|
And going on, proclaim, saying that the kingdom of the heavens has come near;
8 aamayagrastaan svasthaan kuruta, ku. s.thina. h pari. skuruta, m. rtalokaan jiivayata, bhuutaan tyaajayata, vinaa muulya. m yuuyam alabhadhva. m vinaiva muulya. m vi"sraa. nayata|
be healing [those] ailing, raising the dead, cleansing lepers, casting out demons—freely you received, freely give.
9 kintu sve. saa. m ka. tibandhe. su svar. naruupyataamraa. naa. m kimapi na g. rhliita|
Do not provide gold, nor silver, nor brass in your girdles,
10 anyacca yaatraayai celasampu. ta. m vaa dvitiiyavasana. m vaa paaduke vaa ya. s.ti. h, etaan maa g. rhliita, yata. h kaaryyak. rt bharttu. m yogyo bhavati|
nor leather pouch for the way, nor two coats, nor sandals, nor staff—for the workman is worthy of his nourishment.
11 apara. m yuuya. m yat pura. m ya nca graama. m pravi"satha, tatra yo jano yogyapaatra. m tamavagatya yaanakaala. m yaavat tatra ti. s.thata|
And into whatever city or village you may enter, inquire who in it is worthy, and abide there, until you may go forth.
12 yadaa yuuya. m tadgeha. m pravi"satha, tadaa tamaa"si. sa. m vadata|
And coming into the house greet it,
13 yadi sa yogyapaatra. m bhavati, tarhi tatkalyaa. na. m tasmai bhavi. syati, nocet saa"siiryu. smabhyameva bhavi. syati|
and if indeed the house is worthy, let your peace come on it; and if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
14 kintu ye janaa yu. smaakamaatithya. m na vidadhati yu. smaaka. m kathaa nca na "s. r.nvanti te. saa. m gehaat puraadvaa prasthaanakaale svapaduulii. h paatayata|
And whoever may not receive you nor hear your words, coming forth from that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet,
15 yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vacmi vicaaradine tatpurasya da"saata. h sidomamoraapurayorda"saa sahyataraa bhavi. syati|
truly I say to you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city.
16 pa"syata, v. rkayuuthamadhye me. sa. h yathaavistathaa yu. smaana prahi. nomi, tasmaad yuuyam ahiriva satarkaa. h kapotaaivaahi. msakaa bhavata|
Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves, therefore be wise as the serpents, and pure as the doves.
17 n. rbhya. h saavadhaanaa bhavata; yatastai ryuuya. m raajasa. msadi samarpi. syadhve te. saa. m bhajanagehe prahaari. syadhve|
And take heed of men, for they will give you up to Sanhedrins, and in their synagogues they will scourge you,
18 yuuya. m mannaamaheto. h "saast. r.naa. m raaj naa nca samak. sa. m taananyade"sina"scaadhi saak. sitvaarthamaane. syadhve|
and before governors and kings you will be brought for My sake, for a testimony to them and to the nations.
19 kintvittha. m samarpitaa yuuya. m katha. m kimuttara. m vak. syatha tatra maa cintayata, yatastadaa yu. smaabhi ryad vaktavya. m tat tadda. n.de yu. smanmana. h su samupasthaasyati|
And whenever they may deliver you up, do not be anxious how or what you may speak, for it will be given you in that hour what you will speak;
20 yasmaat tadaa yo vak. syati sa na yuuya. m kintu yu. smaakamantarastha. h pitraatmaa|
for you are not the speakers, but the Spirit of your Father that is speaking in you.
21 sahaja. h sahaja. m taata. h suta nca m. rtau samarpayi. syati, apatyaagi svasvapitro rvipak. siibhuuya tau ghaatayi. syanti|
And brother will deliver up brother to death, and father child, and children will rise up against parents, and will put them to death,
22 mannamaheto. h sarvve janaa yu. smaan. rtiiyi. syante, kintu ya. h "se. sa. m yaavad dhairyya. m gh. rtvaa sthaasyati, sa traayi. syate|
and you will be hated by all because of My Name, but he who has endured to the end, he will be saved.
23 tai ryadaa yuuyamekapure taa. di. syadhve, tadaa yuuyamanyapura. m palaayadhva. m yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vacmi yaavanmanujasuto naiti taavad israayelde"siiyasarvvanagarabhrama. na. m samaapayitu. m na "sak. syatha|
And whenever they may persecute you in this city, flee to the other, for truly I say to you, you may not have finished [going through] the cities of Israel until the Son of Man may come.
24 guro. h "si. syo na mahaan, prabhordaaso na mahaan|
A disciple is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his lord;
25 yadi "si. syo nijaguro rdaasa"sca svaprabho. h samaano bhavati tarhi tad yathe. s.ta. m| cettairg. rhapatirbhuutaraaja ucyate, tarhi parivaaraa. h ki. m tathaa na vak. syante?
sufficient to the disciple that he may be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord; if the master of the house they called Beelzebul, how much more those of his household?
26 kintu tebhyo yuuya. m maa bibhiita, yato yanna prakaa"si. syate, taad. rk chaadita. m kimapi naasti, yacca na vya nci. syate, taad. rg gupta. m kimapi naasti|
You may not, therefore, fear them, for there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, and hid that will not be known;
27 yadaha. m yu. smaan tamasi vacmi tad yu. smaabhirdiiptau kathyataa. m; kar. naabhyaa. m yat "sruuyate tad gehopari pracaaryyataa. m|
that which I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light, and that which you hear at the ear, proclaim on the housetops.
28 ye kaaya. m hantu. m "saknuvanti naatmaana. m, tebhyo maa bhai. s.ta; ya. h kaayaatmaanau niraye naa"sayitu. m, "saknoti, tato bibhiita| (Geenna g1067)
And do not be afraid of those killing the body, and are not able to kill the soul, but rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in Gehenna. (Geenna g1067)
29 dvau ca. takau kimekataamramudrayaa na vikriiyete? tathaapi yu. smattaataanumati. m vinaa te. saamekopi bhuvi na patati|
Are not two sparrows sold for an assarion? And one of them will not fall on the ground without your Father;
30 yu.smacchirasaa.m sarvvakacaa ga.nitaa.m.h santi|
and of you—even the hairs of the head are all numbered;
31 ato maa bibhiita, yuuya. m bahuca. takebhyo bahumuulyaa. h|
therefore, do not be afraid, you are better than many sparrows.
32 yo manujasaak. saanmaama"ngiikurute tamaha. m svargasthataatasaak. saada"ngiikari. sye|
Everyone, therefore, who will confess in Me before men, I also will confess in him before My Father who is in the heavens;
33 p. rthvyaamaha. m "saanti. m daatumaagataiti maanubhavata, "saanti. m daatu. m na kintvasi. m|
and whoever will deny Me before men, I also will deny him before My Father who is in the heavens.
34 pit. rmaat. r"sca"sruubhi. h saaka. m sutasutaabadhuu rvirodhayitu ncaagatesmi|
You may not suppose that I came to put peace on the earth; I did not come to put peace, but a sword;
35 tata. h svasvaparivaaraeva n. r"satru rbhavitaa|
for I came to set a man at variance against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law,
36 ya. h pitari maatari vaa mattodhika. m priiyate, sa na madarha. h;
and the enemies of a man are those of his household.
37 ya"sca sute sutaayaa. m vaa mattodhika. m priiyate, sepi na madarha. h|
He who is cherishing father or mother above Me, is not worthy of Me, and he who is cherishing son or daughter above Me, is not worthy of Me,
38 ya. h svakru"sa. m g. rhlan matpa"scaannaiti, sepi na madarha. h|
and whoever does not receive his cross and follow after Me, is not worthy of Me.
39 ya. h svapraa. naanavati, sa taan haarayi. syate, yastu matk. rte svapraa. naan haarayati, sa taanavati|
He who found his life will lose it, and he who lost his life for My sake will find it.
40 yo yu. smaakamaatithya. m vidadhaati, sa mamaatithya. m vidadhaati, ya"sca mamaatithya. m vidadhaati, sa matprerakasyaatithya. m vidadhaati|
He who is receiving you receives Me, and he who is receiving Me receives Him who sent Me;
41 yo bhavi. syadvaadiiti j naatvaa tasyaatithya. m vidhatte, sa bhavi. syadvaadina. h phala. m lapsyate, ya"sca dhaarmmika iti viditvaa tasyaatithya. m vidhatte sa dhaarmmikamaanavasya phala. m praapsyati|
he who is receiving a prophet in the name of a prophet, will receive a prophet’s reward, and he who is receiving a righteous man in the name of a righteous man, will receive a righteous man’s reward,
42 ya"sca ka"scit ete. saa. m k. sudranaraa. naam ya. m ka ncanaika. m "si. sya iti viditvaa ka. msaika. m "siitalasalila. m tasmai datte, yu. smaanaha. m tathya. m vadaami, sa kenaapi prakaare. na phalena na va nci. syate|
and whoever may give to drink to one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, truly I say to you, he may not lose his reward.”
