1 puraa yuuyam aparaadhai. h paapai"sca m. rtaa. h santastaanyaacaranta ihalokasya sa. msaaraanusaare. naakaa"saraajyasyaadhipatim (aiōn g165)

And as for you, you were dead in your trespasses and sins.

2 arthata. h saampratam aaj naala"nghiva. m"se. su karmmakaari. nam aatmaanam anvavrajata|

It was in these trespasses and sins that you once lived according to the ways of this world. You were living according to the ruler of the authorities of the air, the spirit that is working in the sons of disobedience. (aiōn g165)

3 te. saa. m madhye sarvve vayamapi puurvva. m "sariirasya manaskaamanaayaa ncehaa. m saadhayanta. h sva"sariirasyaabhilaa. saan aacaraama sarvve. anya iva ca svabhaavata. h krodhabhajanaanyabhavaama|

Once we all lived among these people, fulfilling the evil desires of our sinful nature, and carrying out the desires of the body and of the mind. We were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of humanity.

4 kintu karu. naanidhirii"svaro yena mahaapremnaasmaan dayitavaan

But God is rich in mercy because of his great love with which he loved us.

5 tasya svapremno baahulyaad aparaadhai rm. rtaanapyasmaan khrii. s.tena saha jiivitavaan yato. anugrahaad yuuya. m paritraa. na. m praaptaa. h|

While we were dead in trespasses, he made us alive together in Christ—by grace you have been saved.

6 sa ca khrii. s.tena yii"sunaasmaan tena saarddham utthaapitavaan svarga upave"sitavaa. m"sca|

God raised us up together with Christ, and God made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,

7 ittha. m sa khrii. s.tena yii"sunaasmaan prati svahitai. sitayaa bhaaviyuge. su svakiiyaanugrahasyaanupama. m nidhi. m prakaa"sayitum icchati| (aiōn g165)

so that in the ages to come he might show to us the immeasurably great riches of his grace expressed in his kindness toward us in Christ Jesus. (aiōn g165)

8 yuuyam anugrahaad vi"svaasena paritraa. na. m praaptaa. h, tacca yu. smanmuulaka. m nahi kintvii"svarasyaiva daana. m,

For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this did not come from you, it is the gift of God,

9 tat karmma. naa. m phalam api nahi, ata. h kenaapi na "slaaghitavya. m|

not from works and so no one may boast.

10 yato vaya. m tasya kaaryya. m praag ii"svare. na niruupitaabhi. h satkriyaabhi. h kaalayaapanaaya khrii. s.te yii"sau tena m. r.s. taa"sca|

For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good deeds that God planned long ago for us, so that we would walk in them.

11 puraa janmanaa bhinnajaatiiyaa hastak. rta. m tvakcheda. m praaptai rlokai"scaacchinnatvaca itinaamnaa khyaataa ye yuuya. m tai ryu. smaabhirida. m smarttavya. m

Therefore remember that once you were Gentiles in the flesh. You are called “uncircumcision” by what is called the “circumcision” in the flesh made by human hands.

12 yat tasmin samaye yuuya. m khrii. s.taad bhinnaa israayelalokaanaa. m sahavaasaad duurasthaa. h pratij naasambalitaniyamaanaa. m bahi. h sthitaa. h santo niraa"saa nirii"svaraa"sca jagatyaadhvam iti|

For at that time you were separated from Christ, foreigners to the people of Israel, strangers to the covenants of the promise, having no hope and without God in the world.

13 kintvadhunaa khrii. s.te yii"saavaa"sraya. m praapya puraa duuravarttino yuuya. m khrii. s.tasya "so. nitena nika. tavarttino. abhavata|

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far away from God have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

14 yata. h sa evaasmaaka. m sandhi. h sa dvayam ekiik. rtavaan "satrutaaruupi. nii. m madhyavarttinii. m prabhedakabhitti. m bhagnavaan da. n.daaj naayukta. m vidhi"saastra. m sva"sariire. na luptavaa. m"sca|

For he is our peace. He made the two one. By his flesh he destroyed the wall of hostility that divided us.

15 yata. h sa sandhi. m vidhaaya tau dvau svasmin eka. m nutana. m maanava. m karttu. m

That is, he abolished the law of commandments and regulations so that he might create one new man in himself, and so making peace.

16 svakiiyakru"se "satrutaa. m nihatya tenaivaikasmin "sariire tayo rdvayorii"svare. na sandhi. m kaarayitu. m ni"scatavaan|

Christ reconciles both peoples into one body to God through the cross, putting to death the hostility.

17 sa caagatya duuravarttino yu. smaan nika. tavarttino. asmaa. m"sca sandhe rma"ngalavaarttaa. m j naapitavaan|

Jesus came and proclaimed peace to you who were far away and peace to those who were near.

18 yatastasmaad ubhayapak. siiyaa vayam ekenaatmanaa pitu. h samiipa. m gamanaaya saamarthya. m praaptavanta. h|

For through Jesus we both have access in one Spirit to the Father.

19 ata idaanii. m yuuyam asamparkiiyaa vide"sina"sca na ti. s.thanata. h pavitralokai. h sahavaasina ii"svarasya ve"smavaasina"scaadhve|

So then, now you Gentiles are no longer strangers and foreigners. Instead you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of God's household.

20 apara. m preritaa bhavi. syadvaadina"sca yatra bhittimuulasvaruupaastatra yuuya. m tasmin muule niciiyadhve tatra ca svaya. m yii"su. h khrii. s.ta. h pradhaana. h ko. nasthaprastara. h|

You have been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, and Christ Jesus himself was the cornerstone.

21 tena k. rtsnaa nirmmiti. h sa. mgrathyamaanaa prabho. h pavitra. m mandira. m bhavitu. m varddhate|

In him the whole building fits together and grows as a temple in the Lord.

22 yuuyamapi tatra sa. mgrathyamaanaa aatmane"svarasya vaasasthaana. m bhavatha|

It is in him that you also are being built together as a dwelling place for God in the Spirit.
