As to what remains therefore, my brethren, we intreat and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received instructions from us, how ye ought to walk and to please God, ye would abound therein more and more.
2 yato vaya. m prabhuyii"sunaa kiid. r"siiraaj naa yu. smaasu samarpitavantastad yuuya. m jaaniitha|
For ye know what commandments we gave you from the Lord Jesus.
3 ii"svarasyaayam abhilaa. so yad yu. smaaka. m pavitrataa bhavet, yuuya. m vyabhicaaraad duure ti. s.thata|
For this is the will of God, even your sanctification: that ye should abstain from fornication,
4 yu. smaakam ekaiko jana. h svakiiya. m praa. naadhaara. m pavitra. m maanya nca rak. satu,
and that every one of you should possess his vessel in sanctification and honor,
5 ye ca bhinnajaatiiyaa lokaa ii"svara. m na jaananti ta iva tat kaamaabhilaa. sasyaadhiina. m na karotu|
not in the passion of lust, like the heathens who know not God.
6 etasmin vi. saye ko. apyatyaacaarii bhuutvaa svabhraatara. m na va ncayatu yato. asmaabhi. h puurvva. m yathokta. m pramaa. niik. rta nca tathaiva prabhuretaad. r"saanaa. m karmma. naa. m samucita. m phala. m daasyati|
That no one over-reach, or wrong his brother in any thing: because the Lord is an avenger of all such crimes, as we also told you before, and testified to you.
7 yasmaad ii"svaro. asmaan a"sucitaayai naahuutavaan kintu pavitratvaayaivaahuutavaan|
For God hath not called us to impurity, but to holiness.
8 ato heto rya. h ka"scid vaakyametanna g. rhlaati sa manu. syam avajaanaatiiti nahi yena svakiiyaatmaa yu. smadantare samarpitastam ii"svaram evaavajaanaati|
He therefore who rejecteth us, rejecteth not man, but God; who hath given us his holy Spirit.
9 bhraat. r.su premakara. namadhi yu. smaan prati mama likhana. m ni. sprayojana. m yato yuuya. m paraspara. m premakara. naaye"svara"sik. sitaa lokaa aadhve|
But as to brotherly love, ye need not that I write unto you; for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.
10 k. rtsne maakidaniyaade"se ca yaavanto bhraatara. h santi taan sarvvaan prati yu. smaabhistat prema prakaa"syate tathaapi he bhraatara. h, vaya. m yu. smaan vinayaamahe yuuya. m puna rbahutara. m prema prakaa"sayata|
And indeed ye do it to all the brethren, that are in all Macedonia; but we exhort you, brethren, to abound in it more and more:
11 apara. m ye bahi. hsthitaaste. saa. m d. r.s. tigocare yu. smaakam aacara. na. m yat manoramya. m bhavet kasyaapi vastuna"scaabhaavo yu. smaaka. m yanna bhavet,
and endeavour to be quiet, and mind your own affairs, and work with your own hands,
12 etadartha. m yuuyam asmatto yaad. r"sam aade"sa. m praaptavantastaad. r"sa. m nirvirodhaacaara. m karttu. m svasvakarmma. ni manaa. mmi nidhaatu. m nijakarai"sca kaaryya. m saadhayitu. m yatadhva. m|
as we gave you in charge, that ye may walk decently toward those that are without, and may have need of no one's assistance.
13 he bhraatara. h niraa"saa anye lokaa iva yuuya. m yanna "socedhva. m tadartha. m mahaanidraagataan lokaanadhi yu. smaakam aj naanataa mayaa naabhila. syate|
But I would not have you ignorant, my brethren, concerning those that are fallen asleep, that ye may not be grieved like others who have no hope:
14 yii"su rm. rtavaan punaruthitavaa. m"sceti yadi vaya. m vi"svaasamastarhi yii"sum aa"sritaan mahaanidraapraaptaan lokaanapii"svaro. ava"sya. m tena saarddham aane. syati|
for if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, so also those, that sleep in Jesus, will God bring with Him.
15 yato. aha. m prabho rvaakyena yu. smaan ida. m j naapayaami; asmaaka. m madhye ye janaa. h prabhoraagamana. m yaavat jiivanto. ava"sek. syante te mahaanidritaanaam agragaaminona na bhavi. syanti;
For this we tell you in the word of the Lord, that we who shall be living and remain to the coming of the Lord, shall not be before those that are asleep.
16 yata. h prabhu. h si. mhanaadena pradhaanasvargaduutasyoccai. h "sabdene"svariiyatuuriivaadyena ca svaya. m svargaad avarok. syati tena khrii. s.taa"sritaa m. rtalokaa. h prathamam utthaasyaanti|
For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first;
17 aparam asmaaka. m madhye ye jiivanto. ava"sek. syante ta aakaa"se prabho. h saak. saatkara. naartha. m tai. h saarddha. m meghavaahanena hari. syante; ittha nca vaya. m sarvvadaa prabhunaa saarddha. m sthaasyaama. h|
then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord.
18 ato yuuyam etaabhi. h kathaabhi. h paraspara. m saantvayata|
Therefore comfort one another with these words.
