1 asmaaka. m vinimayena khrii. s.ta. h "sariirasambandhe da. n.da. m bhuktavaan ato heto. h "sariirasambandhe yo da. n.da. m bhuktavaan sa paapaat mukta

Since, then, Christ suffered in the flesh, do you also ever arm yourselves with the same mind (because he who has suffered in the flesh has done with sin),

2 itibhaavena yuuyamapi susajjiibhuuya dehavaasasyaava"si. s.ta. m samaya. m punarmaanavaanaam icchaasaadhanaartha. m nahi kintvii"svarasyecchaasaadhanaartha. m yaapayata|

so that in future you may not spend your life in the flesh according to men’s desires, but in the will of God.

3 aayu. so ya. h samayo vyatiitastasmin yu. smaabhi ryad devapuujakaanaam icchaasaadhana. m kaamakutsitaabhilaa. samadyapaanara"ngarasamattataagh. r.naarhadevapuujaacara. na ncaakaari tena baahulya. m|

For the time past of life may suffice us to have worked the will of the Gentiles, when we spent our life in lasciviousness, lusts, hard drinking, revelry, banqueting, and abominable idol worship.

4 yuuya. m tai. h saha tasmin sarvvanaa"sapa"nke majjitu. m na dhaavatha, ityanenaa"scaryya. m vij naaya te yu. smaan nindanti|

They are astonished at this, that you do not run into the same excesses of profligacy as they do; and they speak evil of you.

5 kintu yo jiivataa. m m. rtaanaa nca vicaara. m karttum udyato. asti tasmai tairuttara. m daayi. syate|

But they must render account to Him who stands ready to judge the living and the dead.

6 yato heto rye m. rtaaste. saa. m yat maanavodde"sya. h "saariirikavicaara. h kintvii"svarodde"syam aatmikajiivana. m bhavat tadartha. m te. saamapi sannidhau susamaacaara. h prakaa"sito. abhavat|

The gospel was preached for this cause to those who were dead also, that they might be judged according to men in flesh, but live according to God in spirit.

7 sarvve. saam antimakaala upasthitastasmaad yuuya. m subuddhaya. h praarthanaartha. m jaagrata"sca bhavata|

But the end of all things is close at hand; so be sober, watch and pray.

8 vi"se. sata. h paraspara. m gaa. dha. m prema kuruta, yata. h, paapaanaamapi baahulya. m premnaivaacchaadayi. syate|

Above everything have fervent love to one another; for love veils a multitude of sins.

9 kaatarokti. m vinaa parasparam aatithya. m k. rruta|

Be hospitable to one another, without grudging.

10 yena yo varo labdhastenaiva sa param upakarot. r, ittha. m yuuyam ii"svarasya bahuvidhaprasaadasyottamaa bhaa. n.daagaaraadhipaa bhavata|

Whatever the gifts which each has received, use them for one another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.

11 yo vaakya. m kathayati sa ii"svarasya vaakyamiva kathayatu ya"sca param upakaroti sa ii"svaradattasaamarthyaadivopakarotu| sarvvavi. saye yii"sukhrii. s.tene"svarasya gaurava. m prakaa"syataa. m tasyaiva gaurava. m paraakrama"sca sarvvadaa bhuuyaat| aamena| (aiōn g165)

If any one preaches, let him always preach as one who utters God’s truth; if any one serves another, let it be with the strength which God supplies; so that in every way God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory and dominion for ever and ever, Amen. (aiōn g165)

12 he priyatamaa. h, yu. smaaka. m pariik. saartha. m yastaapo yu. smaasu varttate tam asambhavagha. tita. m matvaa naa"scaryya. m jaaniita,

Do not think it strange, beloved, that a fiery ordeal has come to test you, as though some surprising thing had befallen you.

13 kintu khrii. s.tena kle"saanaa. m sahabhaagitvaad aanandata tena tasya prataapaprakaa"se. apyaananandena praphullaa bhavi. syatha|

But be glad in the degree in which you share in the sufferings of Christ; so that when his glory shall be revealed, you too may be glad with triumphant gladness.

14 yadi khrii. s.tasya naamahetunaa yu. smaaka. m nindaa bhavati tarhi yuuya. m dhanyaa yato gauravadaayaka ii"svarasyaatmaa yu. smaasvadhiti. s.thati te. saa. m madhye sa nindyate kintu yu. smanmadhye pra"sa. msyate|

If you are being reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, for the spirit of glory and of God is resting upon you.

15 kintu yu. smaaka. m ko. api hantaa vaa cairo vaa du. skarmmak. rd vaa paraadhikaaracarccaka iva da. n.da. m na bhu"nktaa. m|

But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or as a thief, or as an evil-doer, or as a spy upon other people’s business.

16 yadi ca khrii. s.tiiyaana iva da. n.da. m bhu"nkte tarhi sa na lajjamaanastatkaara. naad ii"svara. m pra"sa. msatu|

But if any man is suffering as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him ever glorify God in this Name.

17 yato vicaarasyaarambhasamaye ii"svarasya mandire yujyate yadi caasmatsvaarabhate tarhii"svariiyasusa. mvaadaagraahi. naa. m "se. sada"saa kaa bhavi. syati?

It is time for judgment to begin with the household of God; and if it first begin with us, what shall be the end of those who are disobedient to the gospel?

18 dhaarmmikenaapi cet traa. nam atik. rcchre. na gamyate| tarhyadhaarmmikapaapibhyaam aa"sraya. h kutra lapsyate|

If the righteous man is scarcely saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?

19 ata ii"svarecchaato ye du. hkha. m bhu njate te sadaacaare. na svaatmaano vi"svaasyasra. s.turii"svasya karaabhyaa. m nidadhataa. m|

So let those who are suffering according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well-doing, as unto a faithful Creator.
