Paul, called an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and brother Sosthenes,

to the church of God being in Corinth, to the sanctified in Christ Jesus, to the called saints, along with all who call upon the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, theirs and ours:

Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

4 ii"svaro yii"sukhrii. s.tena yu. smaan prati prasaada. m prakaa"sitavaan, tasmaadaha. m yu. smannimitta. m sarvvadaa madiiye"svara. m dhanya. m vadaami|

I give thanks to my God always in your behalf, for the grace of God given unto you in Christ Jesus;

5 khrii. s.tasambandhiiya. m saak. sya. m yu. smaaka. m madhye yena prakaare. na sapramaa. nam abhavat

because in everything you are enriched in him, in all speech and in all knowledge;

6 tena yuuya. m khrii. s.taat sarvvavidhavakt. rtaaj naanaadiini sarvvadhanaani labdhavanta. h|

as the testimony of Christ is confirmed in you;

7 tato. asmatprabho ryii"sukhrii. s.tasya punaraagamana. m pratiik. samaa. naanaa. m yu. smaaka. m kasyaapi varasyaabhaavo na bhavati|

so that you are deficient in no spiritual gift; awaiting the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ;

8 aparam asmaaka. m prabho ryii"sukhrii. s.tasya divase yuuya. m yannirddo. saa bhaveta tadartha. m saeva yaavadanta. m yu. smaan susthiraan kari. syati|

who will also establish you unblamable unto the end in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 ya ii"svara. h svaputrasyaasmatprabho ryii"sukhrii. s.tasyaa. m"sina. h karttu. m yu. smaan aahuutavaan sa vi"svasaniiya. h|

God is faithful, through whom you have been called unto the fellowship of His Son our Lord Jesus Christ.

10 he bhraatara. h, asmaaka. m prabhuyii"sukhrii. s.tasya naamnaa yu. smaan vinaye. aha. m sarvvai ryu. smaabhirekaruupaa. ni vaakyaani kathyantaa. m yu. smanmadhye bhinnasa"nghaataa na bhavantu manovicaarayoraikyena yu. smaaka. m siddhatva. m bhavatu|

But I exhort you, brethren, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you may all speak the same things, and that there may be no schisms among you; but you may be perfected in the same mind and in the same disposition.

11 he mama bhraataro yu. smanmadhye vivaadaa jaataa iti vaarttaamaha. m kloyyaa. h parijanai rj naapita. h|

For it has been revealed to me concerning you, my brethren, by those who are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.

12 mamaabhipretamida. m yu. smaaka. m ka"scit ka"scid vadati paulasya "si. syo. aham aapallo. h "si. syo. aha. m kaiphaa. h "si. syo. aha. m khrii. s.tasya "si. syo. ahamiti ca|

And I say this, that each one says, I indeed am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.

13 khrii. s.tasya ki. m vibheda. h k. rta. h? paula. h ki. m yu. smatk. rte kru"se hata. h? paulasya naamnaa vaa yuuya. m ki. m majjitaa. h?

Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?

14 kri. spagaayau vinaa yu. smaaka. m madhye. anya. h ko. api mayaa na majjita iti hetoraham ii"svara. m dhanya. m vadaami|

I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius;

15 etena mama naamnaa maanavaa mayaa majjitaa iti vaktu. m kenaapi na "sakyate|

in order that no one may say that you are baptized in my name.

16 apara. m stiphaanasya parijanaa mayaa majjitaastadanya. h ka"scid yanmayaa majjitastadaha. m na vedmi|

But I baptized also the family of Stephanas: besides, I know not if I baptized any other.

17 khrii. s.tenaaha. m majjanaartha. m na prerita. h kintu susa. mvaadasya pracaaraarthameva; so. api vaakpa. tutayaa mayaa na pracaaritavya. h, yatastathaa pracaarite khrii. s.tasya kru"se m. rtyu. h phalahiino bhavi. syati|

For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with the wisdom of speech, in order that the cross of Christ may not be made of none effect.

18 yato heto rye vina"syanti te taa. m kru"sasya vaarttaa. m pralaapamiva manyante ki nca paritraa. na. m labhamaane. svasmaasu saa ii"svariiya"saktisvaruupaa|

For the word of the cross is foolishness indeed to those who are lost; but to those who are saved it is the power of God.

19 tasmaadittha. m likhitamaaste, j naanavataantu yat j naana. m tanmayaa naa"sayi. syate| vilopayi. syate tadvad buddhi rbaddhimataa. m mayaa||

For it has been written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and bring to nought the understanding of the intelligent.

20 j naanii kutra? "saastrii vaa kutra? ihalokasya vicaaratatparo vaa kutra? ihalokasya j naana. m kimii"svare. na mohiik. rta. m nahi? (aiōn g165)

Where is the wise man? where is the scribe? where is the investigator of this age? has not God rendered the wisdom of the world foolishness? (aiōn g165)

21 ii"svarasya j naanaad ihalokasya maanavaa. h svaj naanene"svarasya tattvabodha. m na praaptavantastasmaad ii"svara. h pracaararuupi. naa pralaapena vi"svaasina. h paritraatu. m rocitavaan|

For since in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, God was pleased through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.

22 yihuudiiyalokaa lak. sa. naani did. rk. santi bhinnade"siiyalokaastu vidyaa. m m. rgayante,

Since indeed the Jews ask for miracles, and the Greeks seek after wisdom;

23 vaya nca kru"se hata. m khrii. s.ta. m pracaarayaama. h| tasya pracaaro yihuudiiyai rvighna iva bhinnade"siiyai"sca pralaapa iva manyate,

but we preach Christ having been crucified, to the Jews indeed a stumbling block, and to the Gentiles foolishness;

24 kintu yihuudiiyaanaa. m bhinnade"siiyaanaa nca madhye ye aahuutaaste. su sa khrii. s.ta ii"svariiya"saktirive"svariiyaj naanamiva ca prakaa"sate|

but to you who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

25 yata ii"svare ya. h pralaapa aaropyate sa maanavaatirikta. m j naanameva yacca daurbbalyam ii"svara aaropyate tat maanavaatirikta. m balameva|

Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men, and the weakness of God is stronger than men.

26 he bhraatara. h, aahuutayu. smadga. no ya. smaabhiraalokyataa. m tanmadhye saa. msaarikaj naanena j naanavanta. h paraakrami. no vaa kuliinaa vaa bahavo na vidyante|

For you see your calling, brethren, that there are not many wise according to the flesh, not many influential, not many high-born:

27 yata ii"svaro j naanavatastrapayitu. m muurkhalokaan rocitavaan balaani ca trapayitum ii"svaro durbbalaan rocitavaan|

but God has chosen the foolish things of the world, that he may confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world, that he may confound the strong;

28 tathaa varttamaanalokaan sa. msthitibhra. s.taan karttum ii"svaro jagato. apak. r.s. taan heyaan avarttamaanaa. m"scaabhirocitavaan|

and God has chosen the base-born of the world, and those of no reputation, the things which are not, that He may set at nought the things which are,

29 tata ii"svarasya saak. saat kenaapyaatma"slaaghaa na karttavyaa|

in order that no flesh can boast in the sight of God.

30 yuuya nca tasmaat khrii. s.te yii"sau sa. msthiti. m praaptavanta. h sa ii"svaraad yu. smaaka. m j naana. m pu. nya. m pavitratva. m mukti"sca jaataa|

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God was made unto us wisdom, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption:

31 ataeva yadvad likhitamaaste tadvat, ya. h ka"scit "slaaghamaana. h syaat "slaaghataa. m prabhunaa sa hi|

in order that, as it has been written, Let him that glorieth glory in the Lord.
