ཡོཧནཿ 4
1 ཡཱིཤུཿ སྭཡཾ ནཱམཛྫཡཏ྄ ཀེཝལཾ ཏསྱ ཤིཥྱཱ ཨམཛྫཡཏ྄ ཀིནྟུ ཡོཧནོ྅དྷིཀཤིཥྱཱན྄ ས ཀརོཏི མཛྫཡཏི ཙ,
When Jesus realized that the Pharisees were aware He was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John
2 ཕིརཱུཤིན ཨིམཱཾ ཝཱརྟྟཱམཤྲྀཎྭན྄ ཨིཏི པྲབྷུརཝགཏྱ
(although it was not Jesus who baptized, but His disciples),
3 ཡིཧཱུདཱིཡདེཤཾ ཝིཧཱཡ པུན རྒཱལཱིལམ྄ ཨཱགཏ྄།
He left Judea and returned to Galilee.
4 ཏཏཿ ཤོམིརོཎཔྲདེཤསྱ མདྱེན ཏེན གནྟཝྱེ སཏི
Now He had to pass through Samaria.
5 ཡཱཀཱུབ྄ ནིཛཔུཏྲཱཡ ཡཱུཥཕེ ཡཱཾ བྷཱུམིམ྄ ཨདདཱཏ྄ ཏཏྶམཱིཔསྠཱཡི ཤོམིརོཎཔྲདེཤསྱ སུཁཱར྄ ནཱམྣཱ ཝིཁྱཱཏསྱ ནགརསྱ སནྣིདྷཱཝུཔཱསྠཱཏ྄།
So He came to a town of Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob had given to his son Joseph.
6 ཏཏྲ ཡཱཀཱུབཿ པྲཧིརཱསཱིཏ྄; ཏདཱ དྭིཏཱིཡཡཱམཝེལཱཡཱཾ ཛཱཏཱཡཱཾ ས མཱརྒེ ཤྲམཱཔནྣསྟསྱ པྲཧེཿ པཱརྴྭེ ཨུཔཱཝིཤཏ྄།
Since Jacob’s well was there, Jesus, weary from His journey, sat down by the well. It was about the sixth hour.
7 ཨེཏརྷི ཀཱཙིཏ྄ ཤོམིརོཎཱིཡཱ ཡོཥིཏ྄ ཏོཡོཏྟོལནཱརྠམ྄ ཏཏྲཱགམཏ྄
When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Give Me a drink.”
8 ཏདཱ ཤིཥྱཱཿ ཁཱདྱདྲཝྱཱཎི ཀྲེཏུཾ ནགརམ྄ ཨགཙྪན྄།
(His disciples had gone into the town to buy food.)
9 ཡཱིཤུཿ ཤོམིརོཎཱིཡཱཾ ཏཱཾ ཡོཥིཏམ྄ ཝྱཱཧཱརྵཱིཏ྄ མཧྱཾ ཀིཉྩིཏ྄ པཱནཱིཡཾ པཱཏུཾ དེཧི། ཀིནྟུ ཤོམིརོཎཱིཡཻཿ སཱཀཾ ཡིཧཱུདཱིཡལོཀཱ ན ཝྱཝཱཧརན྄ ཏསྨཱདྡྷེཏོཿ སཱཀཐཡཏ྄ ཤོམིརོཎཱིཡཱ ཡོཥིཏདཧཾ ཏྭཾ ཡིཧཱུདཱིཡོསི ཀཐཾ མཏྟཿ པཱནཱིཡཾ པཱཏུམ྄ ཨིཙྪསི?
“You are a Jew,” said the woman. “How can You ask for a drink from me, a Samaritan woman?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.)
10 ཏཏོ ཡཱིཤུརཝདད྄ ཨཱིཤྭརསྱ ཡདྡཱནཾ ཏཏྐཱིདྲྀཀ྄ པཱནཱིཡཾ པཱཏུཾ མཧྱཾ དེཧི ཡ ཨིཏྠཾ ཏྭཱཾ ཡཱཙཏེ ས ཝཱ ཀ ཨིཏི ཙེདཛྙཱསྱཐཱསྟརྷི ཏམཡཱཙིཥྱཐཱཿ ས ཙ ཏུབྷྱམམྲྀཏཾ ཏོཡམདཱསྱཏ྄།
Jesus answered, “If you knew the gift of God and who is asking you for a drink, you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”
11 ཏདཱ སཱ སཱིམནྟིནཱི བྷཱཥིཏཝཏི, ཧེ མཧེཙྪ པྲཧིརྒམྦྷཱིརོ བྷཝཏོ ནཱིརོཏྟོལནཔཱཏྲཾ ནཱསྟཱི ཙ ཏསྨཱཏ྄ ཏདམྲྀཏཾ ཀཱིལཱལཾ ཀུཏཿ པྲཱཔྶྱསི?
“Sir,” the woman replied, “You have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where then will You get this living water?
12 ཡོསྨབྷྱམ྄ ཨིམམནྡྷཱུཾ དདཽ, ཡསྱ ཙ པརིཛནཱ གོམེཥཱདཡཤྩ སཪྻྭེ྅སྱ པྲཧེཿ པཱནཱིཡཾ པཔུརེཏཱདྲྀཤོ ཡོསྨཱཀཾ པཱུཪྻྭཔུརུཥོ ཡཱཀཱུབ྄ ཏསྨཱདཔི བྷཝཱན྄ མཧཱན྄ ཀིཾ?
Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well and drank from it himself, as did his sons and his livestock?”
13 ཏཏོ ཡཱིཤུརཀཐཡད྄ ཨིདཾ པཱནཱིཡཾ སཿ པིཝཏི ས པུནསྟྲྀཥཱརྟྟོ བྷཝིཥྱཏི,
Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again.
15 ཏདཱ སཱ ཝནིཏཱཀཐཡཏ྄ ཧེ མཧེཙྪ ཏརྷི མམ པུནཿ པཱིཔཱསཱ ཡཐཱ ན ཛཱཡཏེ ཏོཡོཏྟོལནཱཡ ཡཐཱཏྲཱགམནཾ ན བྷཝཏི ཙ ཏདརྠཾ མཧྱཾ ཏཏྟོཡཾ དེཧཱི།
The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water so that I will not get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
16 ཏཏོ ཡཱིཤཱུརཝདདྱཱཧི ཏཝ པཏིམཱཧཱུཡ སྠཱནེ྅ཏྲཱགཙྪ།
Jesus told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
17 སཱ ཝཱམཱཝདཏ྄ མམ པཏིརྣཱསྟི། ཡཱིཤུརཝདཏ྄ མམ པཏིརྣཱསྟཱིཏི ཝཱཀྱཾ བྷདྲམཝོཙཿ།
“I have no husband,” the woman replied. Jesus said to her, “You are correct to say that you have no husband.
18 ཡཏསྟཝ པཉྩ པཏཡོབྷཝན྄ ཨདྷུནཱ ཏུ ཏྭཡཱ སཱརྡྡྷཾ ཡསྟིཥྛཏི ས ཏཝ བྷརྟྟཱ ན ཝཱཀྱམིདཾ སཏྱམཝཱདིཿ།
In fact, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. You have spoken truthfully.”
19 ཏདཱ སཱ མཧིལཱ གདིཏཝཏི ཧེ མཧེཙྪ བྷཝཱན྄ ཨེཀོ བྷཝིཥྱདྭཱདཱིཏི བུདྡྷཾ མཡཱ།
“Sir,” the woman said, “I see that You are a prophet.
20 ཨསྨཱཀཾ པིཏྲྀལོཀཱ ཨེཏསྨིན྄ ཤིལོཙྩཡེ྅བྷཛནྟ, ཀིནྟུ བྷཝདྦྷིརུཙྱཏེ ཡིརཱུཤཱལམ྄ ནགརེ བྷཛནཡོགྱཾ སྠཱནམཱསྟེ།
Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one must worship is in Jerusalem.”
21 ཡཱིཤུརཝོཙཏ྄ ཧེ ཡོཥིཏ྄ མམ ཝཱཀྱེ ཝིཤྭསིཧི ཡདཱ ཡཱུཡཾ ཀེཝལཤཻལེ྅སྨིན྄ ཝཱ ཡིརཱུཤཱལམ྄ ནགརེ པིཏུརྦྷཛནཾ ན ཀརིཥྱདྷྭེ ཀཱལ ཨེཏཱདྲྀཤ ཨཱཡཱཏི།
“Believe Me, woman,” Jesus replied, “a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.
22 ཡཱུཡཾ ཡཾ བྷཛདྷྭེ ཏཾ ན ཛཱནཱིཐ, ཀིནྟུ ཝཡཾ ཡཾ བྷཛཱམཧེ ཏཾ ཛཱནཱིམཧེ, ཡཏོ ཡིཧཱུདཱིཡལོཀཱནཱཾ མདྷྱཱཏ྄ པརིཏྲཱཎཾ ཛཱཡཏེ།
You worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.
23 ཀིནྟུ ཡདཱ སཏྱབྷཀྟཱ ཨཱཏྨནཱ སཏྱརཱུཔེཎ ཙ པིཏུརྦྷཛནཾ ཀརིཥྱནྟེ སམཡ ཨེཏཱདྲྀཤ ཨཱཡཱཏི, ཝརམ྄ ཨིདཱནཱིམཔི ཝིདྱཏེ; ཡཏ ཨེཏཱདྲྀཤོ བྷཏྐཱན྄ པིཏཱ ཙེཥྚཏེ།
But a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father is seeking such as these to worship Him.
24 ཨཱིཤྭར ཨཱཏྨཱ; ཏཏསྟསྱ ཡེ བྷཀྟཱསྟཻཿ ས ཨཱཏྨནཱ སཏྱརཱུཔེཎ ཙ བྷཛནཱིཡཿ།
God is Spirit, and His worshipers must worship Him in spirit and in truth.”
25 ཏདཱ སཱ མཧིལཱཝཱདཱིཏ྄ ཁྲཱིཥྚནཱམྣཱ ཝིཁྱཱཏོ྅བྷིཥིཀྟཿ པུརུཥ ཨཱགམིཥྱཏཱིཏི ཛཱནཱམི ས ཙ སཪྻྭཱཿ ཀཐཱ ཨསྨཱན྄ ཛྙཱཔཡིཥྱཏི།
The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ) “is coming. When He comes, He will explain everything to us.”
26 ཏཏོ ཡཱིཤུརཝདཏ྄ ཏྭཡཱ སཱརྡྡྷཾ ཀཐནཾ ཀརོམི ཡོ྅ཧམ྄ ཨཧམེཝ ས པུརུཥཿ།
Jesus answered, “I who speak to you am He.”
27 ཨེཏསྨིན྄ སམཡེ ཤིཥྱཱ ཨཱགཏྱ ཏཐཱ སྟྲིཡཱ སཱརྡྡྷཾ ཏསྱ ཀཐོཔཀཐནེ མཧཱཤྩཪྻྱམ྄ ཨམནྱནྟ ཏཐཱཔི བྷཝཱན྄ ཀིམིཙྪཏི? ཡདྭཱ ཀིམརྠམ྄ ཨེཏཡཱ སཱརྡྡྷཾ ཀཐཱཾ ཀཐཡཏི? ཨིཏི ཀོཔི ནཱཔྲྀཙྪཏ྄།
Just then His disciples returned and were surprised that He was speaking with a woman. But no one asked Him, “What do You want from her?” or “Why are You talking with her?”
28 ཏཏཿ པརཾ སཱ ནཱརཱི ཀལཤཾ སྠཱཔཡིཏྭཱ ནགརམདྷྱཾ གཏྭཱ ལོཀེབྷྱོཀཐཱཡད྄
Then the woman left her water jar, went back into the town, and said to the people,
29 ཨཧཾ ཡདྱཏ྄ ཀརྨྨཱཀརཝཾ ཏཏྶཪྻྭཾ མཧྱམཀཐཡད྄ ཨེཏཱདྲྀཤཾ མཱནཝམེཀམ྄ ཨཱགཏྱ པཤྱཏ རུ ཀིམ྄ ཨབྷིཥིཀྟོ ན བྷཝཏི?
“Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did. Could this be the Christ?”
30 ཏཏསྟེ ནགརཱད྄ བཧིརཱགཏྱ ཏཱཏསྱ སམཱིཔམ྄ ཨཱཡན྄།
So they left the town and made their way toward Jesus.
31 ཨེཏརྷི ཤིཥྱཱཿ སཱདྷཡིཏྭཱ ཏཾ ཝྱཱཧཱརྵུཿ ཧེ གུརོ བྷཝཱན྄ ཀིཉྩིད྄ བྷཱུཀྟཱཾ།
Meanwhile the disciples urged Him, “Rabbi, eat something.”
32 ཏཏཿ སོཝདད྄ ཡུཥྨཱབྷིཪྻནྣ ཛྙཱཡཏེ ཏཱདྲྀཤཾ བྷཀྵྱཾ མམཱསྟེ།
But He told them, “I have food to eat that you know nothing about.”
33 ཏདཱ ཤིཥྱཱཿ པརསྤརཾ པྲཥྚུམ྄ ཨཱརམྦྷནྟ, ཀིམསྨཻ ཀོཔི ཀིམཔི བྷཀྵྱམཱནཱིཡ དཏྟཝཱན྄?
So the disciples asked one another, “Could someone have brought Him food?”
34 ཡཱིཤུརཝོཙཏ྄ མཏྤྲེརཀསྱཱབྷིམཏཱནུརཱུཔཀརཎཾ ཏསྱཻཝ ཀརྨྨསིདྡྷིཀཱརཎཉྩ མམ བྷཀྵྱཾ།
Jesus explained, “My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to finish His work.
35 མཱསཙཏུཥྚཡེ ཛཱཏེ ཤསྱཀརྟྟནསམཡོ བྷཝིཥྱཏཱིཏི ཝཱཀྱཾ ཡུཥྨཱབྷིཿ ཀིཾ ནོདྱཏེ? ཀིནྟྭཧཾ ཝདཱམི, ཤིར ཨུཏྟོལྱ ཀྵེཏྲཱཎི པྲཏི ནིརཱིཀྵྱ པཤྱཏ, ཨིདཱནཱིཾ ཀརྟྟནཡོགྱཱནི ཤུཀླཝརྞཱནྱབྷཝན྄།
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months until the harvest’? I tell you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are ripe for harvest.
36 ཡཤྪིནཏྟི ས ཝེཏནཾ ལབྷཏེ ཨནནྟཱཡུཿསྭརཱུཔཾ ཤསྱཾ ས གྲྀཧླཱཏི ཙ, ཏེནཻཝ ཝཔྟཱ ཚེཏྟཱ ཙ ཡུགཔད྄ ཨཱནནྡཏཿ། (aiōnios g166)
Already the reaper draws his wages and gathers a crop for eternal life, so that the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
37 ཨིཏྠཾ སཏི ཝཔཏྱེཀཤྪིནཏྱནྱ ཨིཏི ཝཙནཾ སིདྡྷྱཏི།
For in this case the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’ is true.
38 ཡཏྲ ཡཱུཡཾ ན པཪྻྱཤྲཱམྱཏ ཏཱདྲྀཤཾ ཤསྱཾ ཚེཏྟུཾ ཡུཥྨཱན྄ པྲཻརཡམ྄ ཨནྱེ ཛནཱཿཔཪྻྱཤྲཱམྱན྄ ཡཱུཡཾ ཏེཥཱཾ ཤྲགསྱ ཕལམ྄ ཨལབྷདྷྭམ྄།
I sent you to reap what you have not worked for; others have done the hard work, and now you have taken up their labor.”
39 ཡསྨིན྄ ཀཱལེ ཡདྱཏ྄ ཀརྨྨཱཀཱརྵཾ ཏཏྶཪྻྭཾ ས མཧྱམ྄ ཨཀཐཡཏ྄ ཏསྱཱ ཝནིཏཱཡཱ ཨིདཾ སཱཀྵྱཝཱཀྱཾ ཤྲུཏྭཱ ཏནྣགརནིཝཱསིནོ བཧཝཿ ཤོམིརོཎཱིཡལོཀཱ ཝྱཤྭསན྄།
Many of the Samaritans from that town believed in Jesus because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”
40 ཏཐཱ ཙ ཏསྱཱནྟིཀེ སམུཔསྠཱཡ སྭེཥཱཾ སནྣིདྷཽ ཀཏིཙིད྄ དིནཱནི སྠཱཏུཾ ཏསྨིན྄ ཝིནཡམ྄ ཨཀུཪྻྭཱན ཏསྨཱཏ྄ ས དིནདྭཡཾ ཏཏྶྠཱནེ ནྱཝཥྚཏ྄
So when the Samaritans came to Him, they asked Him to stay with them, and He stayed two days.
41 ཏཏསྟསྱོཔདེཤེན བཧཝོ྅པརེ ཝིཤྭསྱ
And many more believed because of His message.
42 ཏཱཾ ཡོཥཱམཝདན྄ ཀེཝལཾ ཏཝ ཝཱཀྱེན པྲཏཱིམ ཨིཏི ན, ཀིནྟུ ས ཛགཏོ྅བྷིཥིཀྟསྟྲཱཏེཏི ཏསྱ ཀཐཱཾ ཤྲུཏྭཱ ཝཡཾ སྭཡམེཝཱཛྙཱསམཧི།
They said to the woman, “We now believe not only because of your words; we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man truly is the Savior of the world.”
43 སྭདེཤེ བྷཝིཥྱདྭཀྟུཿ སཏྐཱརོ ནཱསྟཱིཏི ཡདྱཔི ཡཱིཤུཿ པྲམཱཎཾ དཏྭཱཀཐཡཏ྄
After two days, Jesus left for Galilee.
44 ཏཐཱཔི དིཝསདྭཡཱཏ྄ པརཾ ས ཏསྨཱཏ྄ སྠཱནཱད྄ གཱལཱིལཾ གཏཝཱན྄།
Now He Himself had testified that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.
45 ཨནནྟརཾ ཡེ གཱལཱིལཱི ལིཡལོཀཱ ཨུཏྶཝེ གཏཱ ཨུཏྶཝསམཡེ ཡིརཱུཤལམ྄ ནགརེ ཏསྱ སཪྻྭཱཿ ཀྲིཡཱ ཨཔཤྱན྄ ཏེ གཱལཱིལམ྄ ཨཱགཏཾ ཏམ྄ ཨཱགྲྀཧླན྄།
Yet when He arrived, the Galileans welcomed Him. They had seen all the great things He had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had gone there as well.
46 ཏཏཿ པརམ྄ ཡཱིཤུ ཪྻསྨིན྄ ཀཱནྣཱནགརེ ཛལཾ དྲཱཀྵཱརསམ྄ ཨཱཀརོཏ྄ ཏཏ྄ སྠཱནཾ པུནརགཱཏ྄། ཏསྨིནྣེཝ སམཡེ ཀསྱཙིད྄ རཱཛསབྷཱསྟཱརསྱ པུཏྲཿ ཀཕརྣཱཧཱུམཔུརཱི རོགགྲསྟ ཨཱསཱིཏ྄།
So once again He came to Cana in Galilee, where He had turned the water into wine. And there was a royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum.
47 ས ཡེཧཱུདཱིཡདེཤཱད྄ ཡཱིཤོ རྒཱལཱིལཱགམནཝཱརྟྟཱཾ ནིཤམྱ ཏསྱ སམཱིཔཾ གཏྭཱ པྲཱརྠྱ ཝྱཱཧྲྀཏཝཱན྄ མམ པུཏྲསྱ པྲཱཡེཎ ཀཱལ ཨཱསནྣཿ བྷཝཱན྄ ཨཱགཏྱ ཏཾ སྭསྠཾ ཀརོཏུ།
When he heard that Jesus had come from Judea to Galilee, he went and begged Him to come down and heal his son, who was about to die.
48 ཏདཱ ཡཱིཤུརཀཐཡད྄ ཨཱཤྩཪྻྱཾ ཀརྨྨ ཙིཏྲཾ ཙིཧྣཾ ཙ ན དྲྀཥྚཱ ཡཱུཡཾ ན པྲཏྱེཥྱཐ།
Jesus said to him, “Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will never believe.”
49 ཏཏཿ ས སབྷཱསདཝདཏ྄ ཧེ མཧེཙྪ མམ པུཏྲེ ན མྲྀཏེ བྷཝཱནཱགཙྪཏུ།
“Sir,” the official said, “come down before my child dies.”
50 ཡཱིཤུསྟམཝདད྄ གཙྪ ཏཝ པུཏྲོ྅ཛཱིཝཱིཏ྄ ཏདཱ ཡཱིཤུནོཀྟཝཱཀྱེ ས ཝིཤྭསྱ གཏཝཱན྄།
“Go,” said Jesus. “Your son will live.” The man took Jesus at His word and departed.
51 གམནཀཱལེ མཱརྒམདྷྱེ དཱསཱསྟཾ སཱཀྵཱཏྤྲཱཔྱཱཝདན྄ བྷཝཏཿ པུཏྲོ྅ཛཱིཝཱིཏ྄།
And while he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was alive.
52 ཏཏཿ ཀཾ ཀཱལམཱརབྷྱ རོགཔྲཏཱིཀཱརཱརམྦྷོ ཛཱཏཱ ཨིཏི པྲྀཥྚེ ཏཻརུཀྟཾ ཧྱཿ སཱརྡྡྷདཎྜདྭཡཱདྷིཀདྭིཏཱིཡཡཱམེ ཏསྱ ཛྭརཏྱཱགོ྅བྷཝཏ྄།
So he inquired as to the hour when his son had recovered, and they told him, “The fever left him yesterday at the seventh hour.”
53 ཏདཱ ཡཱིཤུསྟསྨིན྄ ཀྵཎེ པྲོཀྟཝཱན྄ ཏཝ པུཏྲོ྅ཛཱིཝཱིཏ྄ པིཏཱ ཏདྦུདྡྷྭཱ སཔརིཝཱརོ ཝྱཤྭསཱིཏ྄།
Then the father realized that this was the very hour in which Jesus had told him, “Your son will live.” And he and all his household believed.
54 ཡིཧཱུདཱིཡདེཤཱད྄ ཨཱགཏྱ གཱལཱིལི ཡཱིཤུརེཏད྄ དྭིཏཱིཡམ྄ ཨཱཤྩཪྻྱཀརྨྨཱཀརོཏ྄།
This was now the second sign that Jesus performed after coming from Judea into Galilee.
