1 อนนฺตรํ เตษุ ยิรูศาลมฺนครสฺย สมีปเวรฺตฺติโน ไชตุนนามกธราธรสฺย สมีปสฺถฺตึ ไพตฺผคิคฺรามมฺ อาคเตษุ, ยีศุ: ศิษฺยทฺวยํ เปฺรษยนฺ ชคาท,
And when they came nigh to Jerusalem, and came to Bethphage, unto the mount of the Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples,
2 ยุวำ สมฺมุขสฺถคฺรามํ คตฺวา พทฺธำ ยำ สวตฺสำ ครฺทฺทภีํ หฐาตฺ ปฺราปฺสฺยถ: , ตำ โมจยิตฺวา มทนฺติกมฺ อานยตํฯ
saying to them, 'Go on to the village over-against you, and immediately ye shall find an ass bound, and a colt with her — having loosed, bring ye to me;
3 ตตฺร ยทิ กศฺจิตฺ กิญฺจิทฺ วกฺษฺยติ, ตรฺหิ วทิษฺยถ: , เอตสฺยำ ปฺรโภ: ปฺรโยชนมาเสฺต, เตน ส ตตฺกฺษณาตฺ ปฺรเหษฺยติฯ
and if any one may say anything to you, ye shall say, that the lord hath need of them, and immediately he will send them.'
4 สีโยน: กนฺยกำ ยูยํ ภาษธฺวมิติ ภารตีํฯ ปศฺย เต นมฺรศีล: สนฺ นฺฤป อารุหฺย ครฺทภีํฯ อรฺถาทารุหฺย ตทฺวตฺสมายาสฺยติ ตฺวทนฺติกํฯ
And all this came to pass, that it might be fulfilled that was spoken through the prophet, saying,
5 ภวิษฺยทฺวาทิโนกฺตํ วจนมิทํ ตทา สผลมภูตฺฯ
'Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo, thy king doth come to thee, meek, and mounted on an ass, and a colt, a foal of a beast of burden.'
6 อนนฺตรํ เตา ศฺษฺยิ ยีโศ รฺยถานิเทศํ ตํ คฺรามํ คตฺวา
And the disciples having gone and having done as Jesus commanded them,
7 ครฺทภีํ ตทฺวตฺสญฺจ สมานีตวนฺเตา, ปศฺจาตฺ ตทุปริ สฺวียวสนานี ปาตยิตฺวา ตมาโรหยามาสตุ: ฯ
brought the ass and the colt, and did put on them their garments, and set [him] upon them;
8 ตโต พหโว โลกา นิชวสนานิ ปถิ ปฺรสารยิตุมาเรภิเร, กติปยา ชนาศฺจ ปาทปปรฺณาทิกํ ฉิตฺวา ปถิ วิสฺตารยามาสุ: ฯ
and the very great multitude spread their own garments in the way, and others were cutting branches from the trees, and were strewing in the way,
9 อคฺรคามิน: ปศฺจาทฺคามินศฺจ มนุชา อุจฺไจรฺชย ชย ทายูท: สนฺตาเนติ ชคทุ: ปรเมศฺวรสฺย นามฺนา ย อายาติ ส ธนฺย: , สรฺโวฺวปริสฺถสฺวรฺเคปิ ชยติฯ
and the multitudes who were going before, and who were following, were crying, saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David, blessed is he who is coming in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest.'
10 อิตฺถํ ตสฺมินฺ ยิรูศาลมํ ปฺรวิษฺเฏ โก'ยมิติ กถนาตฺ กฺฤตฺสฺนํ นครํ จญฺจลมภวตฺฯ
And he having entered into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, 'Who is this?'
11 ตตฺร โลโก: กถยามาสุ: , เอษ คาลีลฺปฺรเทศีย-นาสรตีย-ภวิษฺยทฺวาที ยีศุ: ฯ
And the multitudes said, 'This is Jesus the prophet, who [is] from Nazareth of Galilee.'
12 อนนฺตรํ ยีศุรีศฺวรสฺย มนฺทิรํ ปฺรวิศฺย ตนฺมธฺยาตฺ กฺรยวิกฺรยิโณ วหิศฺจการ; วณิชำ มุทฺราสนานี กโปตวิกฺรยิณาญฺจสนานี จ นฺยุวฺชยามาสฯ
And Jesus entered into the temple of God, and did cast forth all those selling and buying in the temple, and the tables of the money-changers he overturned, and the seats of those selling the doves,
13 อปรํ ตานุวาจ, เอษา ลิปิราเสฺต, "มม คฺฤหํ ปฺรารฺถนาคฺฤหมิติ วิขฺยาสฺยติ", กินฺตุ ยูยํ ตทฺ ทสฺยูนำ คหฺวรํ กฺฤตวนฺต: ฯ
and he saith to them, 'It hath been written, My house a house of prayer shall be called, but ye did make it a den of robbers.'
14 ตทนนฺตรมฺ อนฺธขญฺจโลกาสฺตสฺย สมีปมาคตา: , ส ตานฺ นิรามยานฺ กฺฤตวานฺฯ
And there came to him blind and lame men in the temple, and he healed them,
15 ยทา ปฺรธานยาชกา อธฺยาปกาศฺจ เตน กฺฤตาเนฺยตานิ จิตฺรกรฺมฺมาณิ ททฺฤศุ: , ชย ชย ทายูท: สนฺตาน, มนฺทิเร พาลกานามฺ เอตาทฺฤศมฺ อุจฺจธฺวนึ ศุศฺรุวุศฺจ, ตทา มหากฺรุทฺธา พภูว: ,
and the chief priests and the scribes having seen the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, 'Hosanna to the Son of David,' were much displeased;
16 ตํ ปปฺรจฺฉุศฺจ, อิเม ยทฺ วทนฺติ, ตตฺ กึ ตฺวํ ศฺฤโณษิ? ตโต ยีศุสฺตานฺ อโวจตฺ, สตฺยมฺ; สฺตนฺยปายิศิศูนาญฺจ พาลกานาญฺจ วกฺตฺรต: ฯ สฺวกียํ มหิมานํ ตฺวํ สํปฺรกาศยสิ สฺวยํฯ เอตทฺวากฺยํ ยูยํ กึ นาปฐต?
and they said to him, 'Hearest thou what these say?' And Jesus saith to them, 'Yes, did ye never read, that, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou didst prepare praise?'
17 ตตสฺตานฺ วิหาย ส นคราทฺ ไพถนิยาคฺรามํ คตฺวา ตตฺร รชนีํ ยาปยามาสฯ
And having left them, he went forth out of the city to Bethany, and did lodge there,
18 อนนฺตรํ ปฺรภาเต สติ ยีศุ: ปุนรปิ นครมาคจฺฉนฺ กฺษุธารฺตฺโต พภูวฯ
and in the morning turning back to the city, he hungered,
19 ตโต มารฺคปารฺศฺว อุฑุมฺพรวฺฤกฺษเมกํ วิโลกฺย ตตฺสมีปํ คตฺวา ปตฺราณิ วินา กิมปิ น ปฺราปฺย ตํ ปาทปํ โปฺรวาจ, อทฺยารภฺย กทาปิ ตฺวยิ ผลํ น ภวตุ; เตน ตตฺกฺษณาตฺ ส อุฑุมฺพรมาหีรุห: ศุษฺกตำ คต: ฯ (aiōn g165)
and having seen a certain fig-tree on the way, he came to it, and found nothing in it except leaves only, and he saith to it, 'No more from thee may fruit be — to the age;' and forthwith the fig-tree withered. (aiōn g165)
20 ตทฺ ทฺฤษฺฏฺวา ศิษฺยา อาศฺจรฺยฺยํ วิชฺญาย กถยามาสุ: , อา: , อุฑุมฺวรปาทโป'ติตูรฺณํ ศุษฺโก'ภวตฺฯ
And the disciples having seen, did wonder, saying, 'How did the fig-tree forthwith wither?'
21 ตโต ยีศุสฺตานุวาจ, ยุษฺมานหํ สตฺยํ วทามิ, ยทิ ยูยมสนฺทิคฺธา: ปฺรตีถ, ตรฺหิ ยูยมปิ เกวโลฑุมฺวรปาทปํ ปฺรตีตฺถํ กรฺตฺตุํ ศกฺษฺยถ, ตนฺน, ตฺวํ จลิตฺวา สาคเร ปเตติ วากฺยํ ยุษฺมาภิรสฺมิน ไศเล โปฺรกฺเตปิ ตไทว ตทฺ ฆฏิษฺยเตฯ
And Jesus answering said to them, 'Verily I say to you, If ye may have faith, and may not doubt, not only this of the fig-tree shall ye do, but even if to this mount ye may say, Be lifted up and be cast into the sea, it shall come to pass;
22 ตถา วิศฺวสฺย ปฺรารฺถฺย ยุษฺมาภิ รฺยทฺ ยาจิษฺยเต, ตเทว ปฺราปฺสฺยเตฯ
and all — as much as ye may ask in the prayer, believing, ye shall receive.'
23 อนนฺตรํ มนฺทิรํ ปฺรวิโศฺยปเทศนสมเย ตตฺสมีปํ ปฺรธานยาชกา: ปฺราจีนโลกาศฺจาคตฺย ปปฺรจฺฉุ: , ตฺวยา เกน สามรฺถฺยไนตานิ กรฺมฺมาณิ กฺริยนฺเต? เกน วา ตุภฺยเมตานิ สามรฺถฺยานิ ทตฺตานิ?
And he having come to the temple, there came to him when teaching the chief priests and the elders of the people, saying, 'By what authority dost thou do these things? and who gave thee this authority?'
24 ตโต ยีศุ: ปฺรตฺยวทตฺ, อหมปิ ยุษฺมานฺ วาจเมกำ ปฺฤจฺฉามิ, ยทิ ยูยํ ตทุตฺตรํ ทาตุํ ศกฺษฺยถ, ตทา เกน สามรฺเถฺยน กรฺมฺมาเณฺยตานิ กโรมิ, ตทหํ ยุษฺมานฺ วกฺษฺยามิฯ
And Jesus answering said to them, 'I will ask you — I also — one word, which if ye may tell me, I also will tell you by what authority I do these things;
25 โยหโน มชฺชนํ กสฺยาชฺญยาภวตฺ? กิมีศฺวรสฺย มนุษฺยสฺย วา? ตตเสฺต ปรสฺปรํ วิวิจฺย กถยามาสุ: , ยทีศฺวรเสฺยติ วทามสฺตรฺหิ ยูยํ ตํ กุโต น ปฺรไตฺยต? วาจเมตำ วกฺษฺยติฯ
the baptism of John, whence was it? — from heaven, or from men?' And they were reasoning with themselves, saying, 'If we should say, From heaven; he will say to us, Wherefore, then, did ye not believe him?
26 มนุษฺยเสฺยติ วกฺตุมปิ โลเกโภฺย พิภีม: , ยต: สรฺไวฺวรปิ โยหนฺ ภวิษฺยทฺวาทีติ ชฺญายเตฯ
and if we should say, From men, we fear the multitude, for all hold John as a prophet.'
27 ตสฺมาตฺ เต ยีศุํ ปฺรตฺยวทนฺ, ตทฺ วยํ น วิทฺม: ฯ ตทา ส ตานุกฺตวานฺ, ตรฺหิ เกน สามรเถฺยน กรฺมฺมาเณฺยตานฺยหํ กโรมิ, ตทปฺยหํ ยุษฺมานฺ น วกฺษฺยามิฯ
And answering Jesus they said, 'We have not known.' He said to them — he also — 'Neither do I tell you by what authority I do these things.
28 กสฺยจิชฺชนสฺย เทฺวา สุตาวาสฺตำ ส เอกสฺย สุตสฺย สมีปํ คตฺวา ชคาท, เห สุต, ตฺวมทฺย มม ทฺรากฺษากฺเษเตฺร กรฺมฺม กรฺตุํ วฺรชฯ
'And what think ye? A man had two children, and having come to the first, he said, Child, go, to-day be working in my vineyard.'
29 ตต: ส อุกฺตวานฺ, น ยาสฺยามิ, กินฺตุ เศเษ'นุตปฺย ชคามฯ
And he answering said, 'I will not,' but at last, having repented, he went.
30 อนนฺตรํ โสนฺยสุตสฺย สมีปํ คตฺวา ตไถว กถฺติวานฺ; ตต: ส ปฺรตฺยุวาจ, มเหจฺฉ ยามิ, กินฺตุ น คต: ฯ
'And having come to the second, he said in the same manner, and he answering said, I [go], sir, and went not;
31 เอตโย: ปุตฺรโย รฺมเธฺย ปิตุรภิมตํ เกน ปาลิตํ? ยุษฺมาภิ: กึ พุธฺยเต? ตตเสฺต ปฺรตฺยูจุ: , ปฺรถเมน ปุเตฺรณฯ ตทานีํ ยีศุสฺตานุวาจ, อหํ ยุษฺมานฺ ตถฺยํ วทามิ, จณฺฑาลา คณิกาศฺจ ยุษฺมากมคฺรต อีศฺวรสฺย ราชฺยํ ปฺรวิศนฺติฯ
which of the two did the will of the father?' They say to him, 'The first.' Jesus saith to them, 'Verily I say to you, that the tax-gatherers and the harlots do go before you into the reign of God,
32 ยโต ยุษฺมากํ สมีปํ โยหนิ ธรฺมฺมปเถนาคเต ยูยํ ตํ น ปฺรตีถ, กินฺตุ จณฺฑาลา คณิกาศฺจ ตํ ปฺรตฺยายนฺ, ตทฺ วิโลกฺยาปิ ยูยํ ปฺรเตฺยตุํ นาขิทฺยธฺวํฯ
for John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye did not believe him, and the tax-gatherers and the harlots did believe him, and ye, having seen, repented not at last — to believe him.
33 อปรเมกํ ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตํ ศฺฤณุต, กศฺจิทฺ คฺฤหสฺถ: เกฺษเตฺร ทฺรากฺษาลตา โรปยิตฺวา ตจฺจตุรฺทิกฺษุ วารณีํ วิธาย ตนฺมเธฺย ทฺรากฺษายนฺตฺรํ สฺถาปิตวานฺ, มาญฺจญฺจ นิรฺมฺมิตวานฺ, ตต: กฺฤษเกษุ ตตฺ เกฺษตฺรํ สมรฺปฺย สฺวยํ ทูรเทศํ ชคามฯ
'Hear ye another simile: There was a certain man, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and did put a hedge round it, and digged in it a wine-press, and built a tower, and gave it out to husbandmen, and went abroad.
34 ตทนนฺตรํ ผลสมย อุปสฺถิเต ส ผลานิ ปฺราปฺตุํ กฺฤษีวลานำ สมีปํ นิชทาสานฺ เปฺรษยามาสฯ
'And when the season of the fruits came nigh, he sent his servants unto the husbandmen, to receive the fruits of it,
35 กินฺตุ กฺฤษีวลาสฺตสฺย ตานฺ ทาเสยานฺ ธฺฤตฺวา กญฺจน ปฺรหฺฤตวนฺต: , กญฺจน ปาษาไณราหตวนฺต: , กญฺจน จ หตวนฺต: ฯ
and the husbandmen having taken his servants, one they scourged, and one they killed, and one they stoned.
36 ปุนรปิ ส ปฺรภุ: ปฺรถมโต'ธิกทาเสยานฺ เปฺรษยามาส, กินฺตุ เต ตานฺ ปฺรตฺยปิ ตไถว จกฺรุ: ฯ
'Again he sent other servants more than the first, and they did to them in the same manner.
37 อนนฺตรํ มม สุเต คเต ตํ สมาทริษฺยนฺเต, อิตฺยุกฺตฺวา เศเษ ส นิชสุตํ เตษำ สนฺนิธึ เปฺรษยามาสฯ
'And at last he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son;
38 กินฺตุ เต กฺฤษีวลา: สุตํ วีกฺษฺย ปรสฺปรมฺ อิติ มนฺตฺรยิตุมฺ อาเรภิเร, อยมุตฺตราธิการี วยเมนํ นิหตฺยาสฺยาธิการํ สฺววศีกริษฺยาม: ฯ
and the husbandmen having seen the son, said among themselves, This is the heir, come, we may kill him, and may possess his inheritance;
39 ปศฺจาตฺ เต ตํ ธฺฤตฺวา ทฺรากฺษากฺเษตฺราทฺ พหิ: ปาตยิตฺวาพธิษุ: ฯ
and having taken him, they cast [him] out of the vineyard, and killed him;
40 ยทา ส ทฺรากฺษากฺเษตฺรปติราคมิษฺยติ, ตทา ตานฺ กฺฤษีวลานฺ กึ กริษฺยติ?
whenever therefore the lord of the vineyard may come, what will he do to these husbandmen?'
41 ตตเสฺต ปฺรตฺยวทนฺ, ตานฺ กลุษิโณ ทารุณยาตนาภิราหนิษฺยติ, เย จ สมยานุกฺรมาตฺ ผลานิ ทาสฺยนฺติ, ตาทฺฤเศษุ กฺฤษีวเลษุ เกฺษตฺรํ สมรฺปยิษฺยติฯ
They say to him, 'Evil men — he will evilly destroy them, and the vineyard will give out to other husbandmen, who will give back to him the fruits in their seasons.'
42 ตทา ยีศุนา เต คทิตา: , คฺรหณํ น กฺฤตํ ยสฺย ปาษาณสฺย นิจายไก: ฯ ปฺรธานปฺรสฺตร: โกเณ เสอว สํภวิษฺยติฯ เอตตฺ ปเรศิตุ: กรฺมฺมาสฺมทฺฤษฺฏาวทฺภุตํ ภเวตฺฯ ธรฺมฺมคฺรนฺเถ ลิขิตเมตทฺวจนํ ยุษฺมาภิ: กึ นาปาฐิ?
Jesus saith to them, 'Did ye never read in the Writings, A stone that the builders disallowed, it became head of a corner; from the Lord hath this come to pass, and it is wonderful in our eyes.
43 ตสฺมาทหํ ยุษฺมานฺ วทามิ, ยุษฺมตฺต อีศฺวรียราชฺยมปนีย ผโลตฺปาทยิตฺรนฺยชาตเย ทายิษฺยเตฯ
'Because of this I say to you, that the reign of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth its fruit;
44 โย ชน เอตตฺปาษาโณปริ ปติษฺยติ, ตํ ส ภํกฺษฺยเต, กินฺตฺวยํ ปาษาโณ ยโสฺยปริ ปติษฺยติ, ตํ ส ธูลิวตฺ จูรฺณีกริษฺยติฯ
and he who is falling on this stone shall be broken, and on whomsoever it may fall it will crush him to pieces.'
45 ตทานีํ ปฺราธนยาชกา: ผิรูศินศฺจ ตเสฺยมำ ทฺฤษฺฏานฺตกถำ ศฺรุตฺวา โส'สฺมานุทฺทิศฺย กถิตวานฺ, อิติ วิชฺญาย ตํ ธรฺตฺตุํ เจษฺฏิตวนฺต: ;
And the chief priests and the Pharisees having heard his similes, knew that of them he speaketh,
46 กินฺตุ โลเกโภฺย พิภฺยุ: , ยโต โลไก: ส ภวิษฺยทฺวาทีตฺยชฺญายิฯ
and seeking to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, seeing they were holding him as a prophet.
