1 อิตฺถํ ยีศุ: สฺวทฺวาทศศิษฺยาณามาชฺญาปนํ สมาปฺย ปุเร ปุร อุปเทษฺฏุํ สุสํวาทํ ปฺรจารยิตุํ ตตฺสฺถานาตฺ ปฺรตเสฺถฯ
And when Jesus had ended the instructions to his twelve disciples, he went from there, to teach and to proclaim in their cities.
2 อนนฺตรํ โยหนฺ การายำ ติษฺฐนฺ ขฺริษฺฏสฺย กรฺมฺมณำ วารฺตฺตํ ปฺราปฺย ยสฺยาคมนวารฺตฺตาสีตฺ เสอว กึ ตฺวํ? วา วยมนฺยมฺ อเปกฺษิษฺยามเห?
Now when John, in the house of prisoners, heard of the works of Messiah, he sent by the hand of his disciples,
3 เอตตฺ ปฺรษฺฏุํ นิเชา เทฺวา ศิเษฺยา ปฺราหิโณตฺฯ
and said to him: Art thou he that cometh, or are we to expect another?
4 ยีศุ: ปฺรตฺยโวจตฺ, อนฺธา เนตฺราณิ ลภนฺเต, ขญฺจา คจฺฉนฺติ, กุษฺฐิน: สฺวสฺถา ภวนฺติ, พธิรา: ศฺฤณฺวนฺติ, มฺฤตา ชีวนฺต อุตฺติษฺฐนฺติ, ทริทฺราณำ สมีเป สุสํวาท: ปฺรจารฺยฺยต,
Jesus answered, and said to them: Go, tell John the things that ye hear and see:
5 เอตานิ ยทฺยทฺ ยุวำ ศฺฤณุถ: ปศฺยถศฺจ คตฺวา ตทฺวารฺตฺตำ โยหนํ คทตํฯ
the blind see, and the lame walk, and the leprous are cleansed, and the deaf hear, and the dead rise up, and the needy hear good tidings:
6 ยสฺยาหํ น วิฆฺนีภวามิ, เสอว ธนฺย: ฯ
and happy is he, who shall not be stumbled at me.
7 อนนฺตรํ ตโย: ปฺรสฺถิตโย รฺยีศุ โรฺยหนมฺ อุทฺทิศฺย ชนานฺ ชคาท, ยูยํ กึ ทฺรษฺฏุํ วหิรฺมเธฺยปฺรานฺตรมฺ อคจฺฉต? กึ วาเตน กมฺปิตํ นลํ?
And when they were gone, Jesus began to say to the multitudes, concerning John: What went ye into the wilderness to see? A reed that waved in the wind?
8 วา กึ วีกฺษิตุํ วหิรฺคตวนฺต: ? กึ ปริหิตสูกฺษฺมวสนํ มนุชเมกํ? ปศฺยต, เย สูกฺษฺมวสนานิ ปริทธติ, เต ราชธานฺยำ ติษฺฐนฺติฯ
And if not; what went ye out to see? A man clothed in delicate robes? Lo, they that are clothed in delicate robes, are in the dwelling of kings.
9 ตรฺหิ ยูยํ กึ ทฺรษฺฏุํ พหิรคมต, กิเมกํ ภวิษฺยทฺวาทินํ? ตเทว สตฺยํฯ ยุษฺมานหํ วทามิ, ส ภวิษฺยทฺวาทิโนปิ มหานฺ;
And if not; what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yes, say I to you, and more than a prophet.
10 ยต: , ปศฺย สฺวกียทูโตยํ ตฺวทเคฺร เปฺรษฺยเต มยาฯ ส คตฺวา ตว ปนฺถานํ สฺมยกฺ ปริษฺกริษฺยติ๚ เอตทฺวจนํ ยมธิ ลิขิตมาเสฺต โส'ยํ โยหนฺฯ
For this is he of whom it is written: Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, that he may prepare the way before thee.
11 อปรํ ยุษฺมานหํ ตถฺยํ พฺรวีมิ, มชฺชยิตุ โรฺยหน: เศฺรษฺฐ: โกปิ นารีโต นาชายต; ตถาปิ สฺวรฺคราชฺยมเธฺย สรฺเวฺวโภฺย ย: กฺษุทฺร: ส โยหน: เศฺรษฺฐ: ฯ
Verily I say to you, Among those born of women, there hath not arisen a greater than John the Baptizer: yet the small one in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he.
12 อปรญฺจ อา โยหโน'ทฺย ยาวตฺ สฺวรฺคราชฺยํ พลาทากฺรานฺตํ ภวติ อากฺรมินศฺจ ชนา พเลน ตทธิกุรฺวฺวนฺติฯ
And from the days of John the Baptizer, until now, the kingdom of heaven is assailed by force, and the violent seize it.
13 ยโต โยหนํ ยาวตฺ สรฺวฺวภวิษฺยทฺวาทิภิ รฺวฺยวสฺถยา จ อุปเทศ: ปฺรากาศฺยตฯ
For all the prophets and the law prophesied, until the time of John.
14 ยทิ ยูยมิทํ วากฺยํ คฺรหีตุํ ศกฺนุถ, ตรฺหิ เศฺรย: , ยสฺยาคมนสฺย วจนมาเสฺต โส'ยมฺ เอลิย: ฯ
And, if ye are willing, receive ye, that this is he who was to come.
15 ยสฺย โศฺรตุํ กรฺเณา สฺต: ส ศฺฤโณตุฯ
He that hath ears to hear, let him hear!
16 เอเต วิทฺยมานชนา: ไก รฺมโยปมียนฺเต? เย พาลกา หฏฺฏ อุปวิศฺย สฺวํ สฺวํ พนฺธุมาหูย วทนฺติ,
But to what shall I compare this generation? It is like to children, that sit in the marketplace and call to their associates,
17 วยํ ยุษฺมากํ สมีเป วํศีรวาทยาม, กินฺตุ ยูยํ นานฺฤตฺยต; ยุษฺมากํ สมีเป จ วยมโรทิม, กินฺตุ ยูยํ น วฺยลปต, ตาทฺฤไศ รฺพาลไกสฺต อุปมายิษฺยนฺเตฯ
and say: We have sung to you, and ye did not dance: we have wailed to you, and ye did not lament.
18 ยโต โยหนฺ อาคตฺย น ภุกฺตวานฺ น ปีตวำศฺจ, เตน โลกา วทนฺติ, ส ภูตคฺรสฺต อิติฯ
For John came, not eating and not drinking; and they said, He hath a demon.
19 มนุชสุต อาคตฺย ภุกฺตวานฺ ปีตวำศฺจ, เตน โลกา วทนฺติ, ปศฺยต เอษ โภกฺตา มทฺยปาตา จณฺฑาลปาปินำ พนฺธศฺจ, กินฺตุ ชฺญานิโน ชฺญานวฺยวหารํ นิรฺโทษํ ชานนฺติฯ
The Son of man came, eating and drinking; and they say: Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine drinker, and a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified by her works.
20 ส ยตฺร ยตฺร ปุเร พหฺวาศฺจรฺยฺยํ กรฺมฺม กฺฤตวานฺ, ตนฺนิวาสินำ มน: ปราวฺฤตฺตฺยภาวาตฺ ตานิ นคราณิ ปฺรติ หนฺเตตฺยุกฺตา กถิตวานฺ,
Then began Jesus to reproach the cities, in which his many deeds of power were wrought, yet they repented not.
21 หา โกราสีนฺ, หา ไพตฺไสเท, ยุษฺมนฺมเธฺย ยทฺยทาศฺจรฺยฺยํ กรฺมฺม กฺฤตํ ยทิ ตตฺ โสรสีโทนฺนคร อการิษฺยต, ตรฺหิ ปูรฺวฺวเมว ตนฺนิวาสิน: ศาณวสเน ภสฺมนิ โจปวิศนฺโต มนำสิ ปราวรฺตฺติษฺยนฺตฯ
And he said: Woe to thee, Chorazin! Woe to thee, Bethsaida! For if the deeds of power done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, doubtless, they would long ago have repented in sackcloth and ashes.
22 ตสฺมาทหํ ยุษฺมานฺ วทามิ, วิจารทิเน ยุษฺมากํ ทศาต: โสรสีโทโน รฺทศา สหฺยตรา ภวิษฺยติฯ
But I say to you, It will be comfortable for Tyre and Sidon, in the day of judgment, rather than for you.
23 อปรญฺจ พต กผรฺนาหูมฺ, ตฺวํ สฺวรฺคํ ยาวทุนฺนโตสิ, กินฺตุ นรเก นิกฺเษปฺสฺยเส, ยสฺมาตฺ ตฺวยิ ยานฺยาศฺจรฺยฺยาณิ กรฺมฺมณฺยการิษต, ยทิ ตานิ สิโทมฺนคร อการิษฺยนฺต, ตรฺหิ ตททฺย ยาวทสฺถาสฺยตฺฯ (Hadēs g86)
And thou, Capernaum, which hast been lifted up to heaven, shalt be brought down to the grave. For if those deeds of power which were done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have stood to this day. (Hadēs g86)
24 กินฺตฺวหํ ยุษฺมานฺ วทามิ, วิจารทิเน ตว ทณฺฑต: สิโทโม ทณฺโฑ สหฺยตโร ภวิษฺยติฯ
But I say to thee, It will be comfortable for the land of Sodom, in the day of judgment, rather than for thee.
25 เอตสฺมินฺเนว สมเย ยีศุ: ปุนรุวาจ, เห สฺวรฺคปฺฤถิโวฺยเรกาธิปเต ปิตสฺตฺวํ ชฺญานวโต วิทุษศฺจ โลกานฺ ปฺรเตฺยตานิ น ปฺรกาศฺย พาลกานฺ ปฺรติ ปฺรกาศิตวานฺ, อิติ เหโตสฺตฺวำ ธนฺยํ วทามิฯ
At that time Jesus answered and said: I praise thee, O my Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and knowing, and hast revealed them to little children.
26 เห ปิต: , อิตฺถํ ภเวตฺ ยต อิทํ ตฺวทฺฤษฺฏาวุตฺตมํฯ
Yes, my Father; for so it seemed good before thee.
27 ปิตฺรา มยิ สรฺวฺวาณิ สมรฺปิตานิ, ปิตรํ วินา โกปิ ปุตฺรํ น ชานาติ, ยานฺ ปฺรติ ปุเตฺรณ ปิตา ปฺรกาศฺยเต ตานฺ วินา ปุตฺราทฺ อนฺย: โกปิ ปิตรํ น ชานาติฯ
Every thing is given up by my Father to me. And no one knoweth the Son, except the Father. Also, no one knoweth the Father, except the Son, and he to whom the Son is pleased to reveal him.
28 เห ปริศฺรานฺตา ภารากฺรานฺตาศฺจ โลกา ยูยํ มตฺสนฺนิธิมฺ อาคจฺฉต, อหํ ยุษฺมานฺ วิศฺรมยิษฺยามิฯ
Come unto me, all ye wearied and heavily burdened, and I will ease you.
29 อหํ กฺษมณศีโล นมฺรมนาศฺจ, ตสฺมาตฺ มม ยุคํ เสฺวษามุปริ ธารยต มตฺต: ศิกฺษธฺวญฺจ, เตน ยูยํ เสฺว เสฺว มนสิ วิศฺรามํ ลปฺสฺยทฺเหฺพฯ
Take my yoke upon you; and learn from me, that I am gentle and subdued in my heart: and ye will find rest for your souls:
30 ยโต มม ยุคมฺ อนายาสํ มม ภารศฺจ ลฆุ: ฯ
for my yoke is pleasant, and my burden is light.
