యోహనః 4
1 యీశుః స్వయం నామజ్జయత్ కేవలం తస్య శిష్యా అమజ్జయత్ కిన్తు యోహనోఽధికశిష్యాన్ స కరోతి మజ్జయతి చ,
Thus when the Lord knew when the Pharisees heard that Jesus is making and baptizing more disciples than John
2 ఫిరూశిన ఇమాం వార్త్తామశృణ్వన్ ఇతి ప్రభురవగత్య
(truly Jesus himself was not baptizing, but His disciples),
3 యిహూదీయదేశం విహాయ పున ర్గాలీలమ్ ఆగత్|
He left Judea and came again into Galilee.
4 తతః శోమిరోణప్రదేశస్య మద్యేన తేన గన్తవ్యే సతి
And it behooved Him to go through Samaria.
5 యాకూబ్ నిజపుత్రాయ యూషఫే యాం భూమిమ్ అదదాత్ తత్సమీపస్థాయి శోమిరోణప్రదేశస్య సుఖార్ నామ్నా విఖ్యాతస్య నగరస్య సన్నిధావుపాస్థాత్|
Then He comes into a city of Samaria, called Sychar, near the place which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 తత్ర యాకూబః ప్రహిరాసీత్; తదా ద్వితీయయామవేలాయాం జాతాయాం స మార్గే శ్రమాపన్నస్తస్య ప్రహేః పార్శ్వే ఉపావిశత్|
And the well of Jacob was there. Then Jesus having become weary from the journey, was sitting thus by the well: it was about the sixth hour.
7 ఏతర్హి కాచిత్ శోమిరోణీయా యోషిత్ తోయోత్తోలనార్థమ్ తత్రాగమత్
A woman comes from Samaria to draw water. Jesus says to her, Give me to drink.
8 తదా శిష్యాః ఖాద్యద్రవ్యాణి క్రేతుం నగరమ్ అగచ్ఛన్|
For His disciples had gone into the city, that they might purchase food.
9 యీశుః శోమిరోణీయాం తాం యోషితమ్ వ్యాహార్షీత్ మహ్యం కిఞ్చిత్ పానీయం పాతుం దేహి| కిన్తు శోమిరోణీయైః సాకం యిహూదీయలోకా న వ్యవాహరన్ తస్మాద్ధేతోః సాకథయత్ శోమిరోణీయా యోషితదహం త్వం యిహూదీయోసి కథం మత్తః పానీయం పాతుమ్ ఇచ్ఛసి?
A Samaritan woman says to Him, How do you, being a Jew, ask to drink from me, being a Samaritan woman?
10 తతో యీశురవదద్ ఈశ్వరస్య యద్దానం తత్కీదృక్ పానీయం పాతుం మహ్యం దేహి య ఇత్థం త్వాం యాచతే స వా క ఇతి చేదజ్ఞాస్యథాస్తర్హి తమయాచిష్యథాః స చ తుభ్యమమృతం తోయమదాస్యత్|
And Jesus responded and said to her, If you knew the gift of God, and the one who is speaking to you, Give me to drink; you would have asked him, and he would have given you living water.
11 తదా సా సీమన్తినీ భాషితవతి, హే మహేచ్ఛ ప్రహిర్గమ్భీరో భవతో నీరోత్తోలనపాత్రం నాస్తీ చ తస్మాత్ తదమృతం కీలాలం కుతః ప్రాప్స్యసి?
The woman says to Him, Sir, thou hast no windlass, and the well is deep: whence hast thou living water?
12 యోస్మభ్యమ్ ఇమమన్ధూం దదౌ, యస్య చ పరిజనా గోమేషాదయశ్చ సర్వ్వేఽస్య ప్రహేః పానీయం పపురేతాదృశో యోస్మాకం పూర్వ్వపురుషో యాకూబ్ తస్మాదపి భవాన్ మహాన్ కిం?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and himself and his sons, and his herds, drank of it?
13 తతో యీశురకథయద్ ఇదం పానీయం సః పివతి స పునస్తృషార్త్తో భవిష్యతి,
Jesus responded and said to her, Every one drinking of this water shall thirst again:
15 తదా సా వనితాకథయత్ హే మహేచ్ఛ తర్హి మమ పునః పీపాసా యథా న జాయతే తోయోత్తోలనాయ యథాత్రాగమనం న భవతి చ తదర్థం మహ్యం తత్తోయం దేహీ|
Then the woman says to Him, Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come hither to draw.
16 తతో యీశూరవదద్యాహి తవ పతిమాహూయ స్థానేఽత్రాగచ్ఛ|
He says to her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 సా వామావదత్ మమ పతిర్నాస్తి| యీశురవదత్ మమ పతిర్నాస్తీతి వాక్యం భద్రమవోచః|
The woman responded and said, I have no husband. Jesus says to her, Well didst thou say, I have no husband:
18 యతస్తవ పఞ్చ పతయోభవన్ అధునా తు త్వయా సార్ద్ధం యస్తిష్ఠతి స తవ భర్త్తా న వాక్యమిదం సత్యమవాదిః|
for thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: thou hast spoken this truly.
19 తదా సా మహిలా గదితవతి హే మహేచ్ఛ భవాన్ ఏకో భవిష్యద్వాదీతి బుద్ధం మయా|
The woman says to Him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 అస్మాకం పితృలోకా ఏతస్మిన్ శిలోచ్చయేఽభజన్త, కిన్తు భవద్భిరుచ్యతే యిరూశాలమ్ నగరే భజనయోగ్యం స్థానమాస్తే|
Our fathers worshiped in this mountain; and you say, that in Jerusalem is the place where it behooveth to worship.
21 యీశురవోచత్ హే యోషిత్ మమ వాక్యే విశ్వసిహి యదా యూయం కేవలశైలేఽస్మిన్ వా యిరూశాలమ్ నగరే పితుర్భజనం న కరిష్యధ్వే కాల ఏతాదృశ ఆయాతి|
Jesus says to her, Believe me, woman, that the hour cometh, you will worship the Father neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem.
22 యూయం యం భజధ్వే తం న జానీథ, కిన్తు వయం యం భజామహే తం జానీమహే, యతో యిహూదీయలోకానాం మధ్యాత్ పరిత్రాణం జాయతే|
You worship, you know not what: we worship that which we know: because salvation is of the Jews.
23 కిన్తు యదా సత్యభక్తా ఆత్మనా సత్యరూపేణ చ పితుర్భజనం కరిష్యన్తే సమయ ఏతాదృశ ఆయాతి, వరమ్ ఇదానీమపి విద్యతే; యత ఏతాదృశో భత్కాన్ పితా చేష్టతే|
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such worshiping Him.
24 ఈశ్వర ఆత్మా; తతస్తస్య యే భక్తాస్తైః స ఆత్మనా సత్యరూపేణ చ భజనీయః|
God is a Spirit, and it behooveth those who worship Him to worship in spirit and in truth.
25 తదా సా మహిలావాదీత్ ఖ్రీష్టనామ్నా విఖ్యాతోఽభిషిక్తః పురుష ఆగమిష్యతీతి జానామి స చ సర్వ్వాః కథా అస్మాన్ జ్ఞాపయిష్యతి|
The woman says to Him, I know that Messiah cometh (who is called Christ): when He may come, He will proclaim to us all things.
26 తతో యీశురవదత్ త్వయా సార్ద్ధం కథనం కరోమి యోఽహమ్ అహమేవ స పురుషః|
Jesus says to her, I who speak to thee am He.
27 ఏతస్మిన్ సమయే శిష్యా ఆగత్య తథా స్త్రియా సార్ద్ధం తస్య కథోపకథనే మహాశ్చర్య్యమ్ అమన్యన్త తథాపి భవాన్ కిమిచ్ఛతి? యద్వా కిమర్థమ్ ఏతయా సార్ద్ధం కథాం కథయతి? ఇతి కోపి నాపృచ్ఛత్|
And at this time His disciples came, and were wondering because He was speaking with the woman; no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why do you speak with her?
28 తతః పరం సా నారీ కలశం స్థాపయిత్వా నగరమధ్యం గత్వా లోకేభ్యోకథాయద్
Then the woman left her waterpot, and went away into the city, and says to the men,
29 అహం యద్యత్ కర్మ్మాకరవం తత్సర్వ్వం మహ్యమకథయద్ ఏతాదృశం మానవమేకమ్ ఆగత్య పశ్యత రు కిమ్ అభిషిక్తో న భవతి?
Come hither, see the man who told me all things which I did: Is not He the Christ?
30 తతస్తే నగరాద్ బహిరాగత్య తాతస్య సమీపమ్ ఆయన్|
They came out from the city, and came to Him.
31 ఏతర్హి శిష్యాః సాధయిత్వా తం వ్యాహార్షుః హే గురో భవాన్ కిఞ్చిద్ భూక్తాం|
Meanwhile His disciples were asking Him, saying, Master eat.
32 తతః సోవదద్ యుష్మాభిర్యన్న జ్ఞాయతే తాదృశం భక్ష్యం మమాస్తే|
He said to them, I have meat to eat, which you know not.
33 తదా శిష్యాః పరస్పరం ప్రష్టుమ్ ఆరమ్భన్త, కిమస్మై కోపి కిమపి భక్ష్యమానీయ దత్తవాన్?
Then His disciples were speaking to one another, Whether has any one brought Him something to eat?
34 యీశురవోచత్ మత్ప్రేరకస్యాభిమతానురూపకరణం తస్యైవ కర్మ్మసిద్ధికారణఞ్చ మమ భక్ష్యం|
Jesus says to them, My food is that I may do the will of Him that sent me, and finish His work.
35 మాసచతుష్టయే జాతే శస్యకర్త్తనసమయో భవిష్యతీతి వాక్యం యుష్మాభిః కిం నోద్యతే? కిన్త్వహం వదామి, శిర ఉత్తోల్య క్షేత్రాణి ప్రతి నిరీక్ష్య పశ్యత, ఇదానీం కర్త్తనయోగ్యాని శుక్లవర్ణాన్యభవన్|
Do you not say, That it is yet four months, and the harvest cometh? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and see the fields, because they are white unto the harvest
36 యశ్ఛినత్తి స వేతనం లభతే అనన్తాయుఃస్వరూపం శస్యం స గృహ్లాతి చ, తేనైవ వప్తా ఛేత్తా చ యుగపద్ ఆనన్దతః| (aiōnios g166)
already. He that reapeth receiveth reward, and gathereth fruit unto eternal life; in order that both the sower and the reaper may rejoice together. (aiōnios g166)
37 ఇత్థం సతి వపత్యేకశ్ఛినత్యన్య ఇతి వచనం సిద్ధ్యతి|
For in this the word is true, that there is one sowing, and another reaping.
38 యత్ర యూయం న పర్య్యశ్రామ్యత తాదృశం శస్యం ఛేత్తుం యుష్మాన్ ప్రైరయమ్ అన్యే జనాఃపర్య్యశ్రామ్యన్ యూయం తేషాం శ్రగస్య ఫలమ్ అలభధ్వమ్|
I have sent you to reap that upon which you have never labored: others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.
39 యస్మిన్ కాలే యద్యత్ కర్మ్మాకార్షం తత్సర్వ్వం స మహ్యమ్ అకథయత్ తస్యా వనితాయా ఇదం సాక్ష్యవాక్యం శ్రుత్వా తన్నగరనివాసినో బహవః శోమిరోణీయలోకా వ్యశ్వసన్|
But many of the Samaritans from that city believed on Him through the word of the woman, testifying that, He told me all things which I did. Then when the Samaritans came to Him they asked Him to abide with them:
40 తథా చ తస్యాన్తికే సముపస్థాయ స్వేషాం సన్నిధౌ కతిచిద్ దినాని స్థాతుం తస్మిన్ వినయమ్ అకుర్వ్వాన తస్మాత్ స దినద్వయం తత్స్థానే న్యవష్టత్
and He remained there two days:
41 తతస్తస్యోపదేశేన బహవోఽపరే విశ్వస్య
and many more believed on Him through His word;
42 తాం యోషామవదన్ కేవలం తవ వాక్యేన ప్రతీమ ఇతి న, కిన్తు స జగతోఽభిషిక్తస్త్రాతేతి తస్య కథాం శ్రుత్వా వయం స్వయమేవాజ్ఞాసమహి|
and they continued to say to the woman, We no longer believe through your talk; for we have heard and we know that He is truly the Savior of the world.
43 స్వదేశే భవిష్యద్వక్తుః సత్కారో నాస్తీతి యద్యపి యీశుః ప్రమాణం దత్వాకథయత్
And after two days He departed thence into Galilee.
44 తథాపి దివసద్వయాత్ పరం స తస్మాత్ స్థానాద్ గాలీలం గతవాన్|
And Jesus Himself witnessed, that a prophet has no honor in his own country.
45 అనన్తరం యే గాలీలీ లియలోకా ఉత్సవే గతా ఉత్సవసమయే యిరూశలమ్ నగరే తస్య సర్వ్వాః క్రియా అపశ్యన్ తే గాలీలమ్ ఆగతం తమ్ ఆగృహ్లన్|
And when He came into Galilee, Galileans received Him, having seen all things which He did in Jerusalem at the feast: for they also came to the feast.
46 తతః పరమ్ యీశు ర్యస్మిన్ కాన్నానగరే జలం ద్రాక్షారసమ్ ఆకరోత్ తత్ స్థానం పునరగాత్| తస్మిన్నేవ సమయే కస్యచిద్ రాజసభాస్తారస్య పుత్రః కఫర్నాహూమపురీ రోగగ్రస్త ఆసీత్|
Then He came again into Cana of Galilee, where He turned the water into wine. And there was a certain royalist, whose son was sick in Capernaum;
47 స యేహూదీయదేశాద్ యీశో ర్గాలీలాగమనవార్త్తాం నిశమ్య తస్య సమీపం గత్వా ప్రార్థ్య వ్యాహృతవాన్ మమ పుత్రస్య ప్రాయేణ కాల ఆసన్నః భవాన్ ఆగత్య తం స్వస్థం కరోతు|
he having heard that Jesus has come out of Judea into Galilee, came away to Him, and continued to ask Him that He may come down and heal his son; for He was about to die.
48 తదా యీశురకథయద్ ఆశ్చర్య్యం కర్మ్మ చిత్రం చిహ్నం చ న దృష్టా యూయం న ప్రత్యేష్యథ|
Then Jesus said to him, Unless you may see signs and wonders, you can not believe.
49 తతః స సభాసదవదత్ హే మహేచ్ఛ మమ పుత్రే న మృతే భవానాగచ్ఛతు|
The nobleman says to Him, Lord, come down before my little child dies.
50 యీశుస్తమవదద్ గచ్ఛ తవ పుత్రోఽజీవీత్ తదా యీశునోక్తవాక్యే స విశ్వస్య గతవాన్|
Jesus says to him, Go; thy son liveth. The man believed the word which Jesus spoke to him, and departed.
51 గమనకాలే మార్గమధ్యే దాసాస్తం సాక్షాత్ప్రాప్యావదన్ భవతః పుత్రోఽజీవీత్|
And he already coming down, the servants met him, and reported, that the child lives.
52 తతః కం కాలమారభ్య రోగప్రతీకారారమ్భో జాతా ఇతి పృష్టే తైరుక్తం హ్యః సార్ద్ధదణ్డద్వయాధికద్వితీయయామే తస్య జ్వరత్యాగోఽభవత్|
Then he inquired the hour at which he began to improve; and they said to him, The fever left him at the seventh hour yesterday.
53 తదా యీశుస్తస్మిన్ క్షణే ప్రోక్తవాన్ తవ పుత్రోఽజీవీత్ పితా తద్బుద్ధ్వా సపరివారో వ్యశ్వసీత్|
Then the father knew that it was at that hour at which Jesus said to him, Thy son liveth: and he and all his house believed.
54 యిహూదీయదేశాద్ ఆగత్య గాలీలి యీశురేతద్ ద్వితీయమ్ ఆశ్చర్య్యకర్మ్మాకరోత్|
Jesus, having again come out of Judea into Galilee, wrought this second miracle.
