1 தத: பரம்’ யீஸு²: ப்ரதாரகேண பரீக்ஷிதோ ப⁴விதும் ஆத்மநா ப்ராந்தரம் ஆக்ரு’ஷ்ட:
At that time Jesus was led up by the Spirit into the Desert in order to be tempted by the Devil.
2 ஸந் சத்வாரிம்’ஸ²த³ஹோராத்ராந் அநாஹாரஸ்திஷ்ட²ந் க்ஷுதி⁴தோ ப³பூ⁴வ|
There He fasted for forty days and nights; and after that He suffered from hunger.
3 ததா³நீம்’ பரீக்ஷிதா தத்ஸமீபம் ஆக³த்ய வ்யாஹ்ரு’தவாந், யதி³ த்வமீஸ்²வராத்மஜோ ப⁴வேஸ்தர்ஹ்யாஜ்ஞயா பாஷாணாநேதாந் பூபாந் விதே⁴ஹி|
So the Tempter came and said, "If you are the Son of God, command these stones to turn into loaves."
4 தத: ஸ ப்ரத்யப்³ரவீத், இத்த²ம்’ லிகி²தமாஸ்தே, "மநுஜ: கேவலபூபேந ந ஜீவிஷ்யதி, கிந்த்வீஸ்²வரஸ்ய வத³நாத்³ யாநி யாநி வசாம்’ஸி நி: ஸரந்தி தைரேவ ஜீவிஷ்யதி| "
"It is written," replied Jesus, "'It is not on bread alone that a man shall live, but on whatsoever God shall appoint.'"
5 ததா³ ப்ரதாரகஸ்தம்’ புண்யநக³ரம்’ நீத்வா மந்தி³ரஸ்ய சூடோ³பரி நிதா⁴ய க³தி³தவாந்,
Then the Devil took Him to the Holy City and caused Him to stand on the roof of the Temple,
6 த்வம்’ யதி³ஸ்²வரஸ்ய தநயோ ப⁴வேஸ்தர்ஹீதோ(அ)த⁴: பத, யத இத்த²ம்’ லிகி²தமாஸ்தே, ஆதே³க்ஷ்யதி நிஜாந் தூ³தாந் ரக்ஷிதும்’ த்வாம்’ பரமேஸ்²வர: | யதா² ஸர்வ்வேஷு மார்கே³ஷு த்வதீ³யசரணத்³வயே| ந லகே³த் ப்ரஸ்தராகா⁴தஸ்த்வாம்’ க⁴ரிஷ்யந்தி தே கரை: ||
and said, "If you are God's Son, throw yourself down; for it is written, "'To His angels He will give orders concerning thee, and on their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any moment thou shouldst strike thy foot against a stone.'"
7 ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தஸ்மை கதி²தவாந் ஏதத³பி லிகி²தமாஸ்தே, "த்வம்’ நிஜப்ரபு⁴ம்’ பரமேஸ்²வரம்’ மா பரீக்ஷஸ்வ| "
"Again it is written," replied Jesus, "'Thou shalt not put the Lord thy God to the proof.'"
8 அநந்தரம்’ ப்ரதாரக: புநரபி தம் அத்யுஞ்சத⁴ராத⁴ரோபரி நீத்வா ஜக³த: ஸகலராஜ்யாநி ததை³ஸ்²வர்ய்யாணி ச த³ர்ஸ²யாஸ்²சகார கத²யாஞ்சகார ச,
Then the Devil took Him to the top of an exceedingly lofty mountain, from which he caused Him to see all the Kingdoms of the world and their splendour,
9 யதி³ த்வம்’ த³ண்ட³வத்³ ப⁴வந் மாம்’ ப்ரணமேஸ்தர்ஹ்யஹம் ஏதாநி துப்⁴யம்’ ப்ரதா³ஸ்யாமி|
and said to Him, "All this I will give you, if you will kneel down and do me homage."
10 ததா³நீம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தமவோசத், தூ³ரீப⁴வ ப்ரதாரக, லிகி²தமித³ம் ஆஸ்தே, "த்வயா நிஜ: ப்ரபு⁴: பரமேஸ்²வர: ப்ரணம்ய: கேவல: ஸ ஸேவ்யஸ்²ச| "
"Begone, Satan!" Jesus replied; "for it is written, 'To the Lord thy God thou shalt do homage, and to Him alone shalt thou render worship.'"
11 தத: ப்ரதாரகேண ஸ பர்ய்யத்யாஜி, ததா³ ஸ்வர்கீ³யதூ³தைராக³த்ய ஸ ஸிஷேவே|
Thereupon the Devil left Him, and angels at once came and ministered to Him.
12 தத³நந்தரம்’ யோஹந் காராயாம்’ ப³ப³ந்தே⁴, தத்³வார்த்தாம்’ நிஸ²ம்ய யீஸு²நா கா³லீல் ப்ராஸ்தீ²யத|
Now when Jesus heard that John was thrown into prison, He withdrew into Galilee,
13 தத: பரம்’ ஸ நாஸரந்நக³ரம்’ விஹாய ஜலகே⁴ஸ்தடே ஸிபூ³லூந்நப்தாலீ ஏதயோருவப⁴யோ: ப்ரதே³ஸ²யோ: ஸீம்நோர்மத்⁴யவர்த்தீ ய: கப²ர்நாஹூம் தந்நக³ரம் இத்வா ந்யவஸத்|
and leaving Nazareth He went and settled at Capernaum, a town by the Lake on the frontiers of Zebulun and Naphtali,
14 தஸ்மாத், அந்யாதே³ஸீ²யகா³லீலி யர்த்³த³ந்பாரே(அ)ப்³தி⁴ரோத⁴ஸி| நப்தாலிஸிபூ³லூந்தே³ஸௌ² யத்ர ஸ்தா²நே ஸ்தி²தௌ புரா|
in order that these words, spoken through the Prophet Isaiah, might be fulfilled,
15 தத்ரத்யா மநுஜா யே யே பர்ய்யப்⁴ராம்யந் தமிஸ்ரகே| தைர்ஜநைர்ப்³ரு’ஹதா³லோக: பரித³ர்ஸி²ஷ்யதே ததா³| அவஸந் யே ஜநா தே³ஸே² ம்ரு’த்யுச்சா²யாஸ்வரூபகே| தேஷாமுபரி லோகாநாமாலோக: ஸம்’ப்ரகாஸி²த: ||
"Zebulun's land and Naphtali's land; the road by the Lake; the country beyond the Jordan; Galilee of the Nations!
16 யதே³தத்³வசநம்’ யிஸ²யியப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நா ப்ரோக்தம்’, தத் ததா³ ஸப²லம் அபூ⁴த்|
The people who were dwelling in darkness have seen a brilliant light; and on those who were dwelling in the region of the shadow of death, on them light has dawned."
17 அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²: ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ ப்ரசாரயந் ஏதாம்’ கதா²ம்’ கத²யிதும் ஆரேபே⁴, மநாம்’ஸி பராவர்த்தயத, ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜத்வம்’ ஸவித⁴மப⁴வத்|
From that time Jesus began to preach. "Repent," He said, "for the Kingdom of the Heavens is now close at hand."
18 தத: பரம்’ யீஸு² ர்கா³லீலோ ஜலதே⁴ஸ்தடேந க³ச்ச²ந் க³ச்ச²ந் ஆந்த்³ரியஸ்தஸ்ய ப்⁴ராதா ஸி²மோந் அர்த²தோ யம்’ பிதரம்’ வத³ந்தி ஏதாவுபௌ⁴ ஜலகௌ⁴ ஜாலம்’ க்ஷிபந்தௌ த³த³ர்ஸ², யதஸ்தௌ மீநதா⁴ரிணாவாஸ்தாம்|
And walking along the shore of the Lake of Galilee He saw two brothers--Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew--throwing a drag-net into the Lake; for they were fishers.
19 ததா³ ஸ தாவாஹூய வ்யாஜஹார, யுவாம்’ மம பஸ்²சாத்³ ஆக³ச்ச²தம்’, யுவாமஹம்’ மநுஜதா⁴ரிணௌ கரிஷ்யாமி|
And He said to them, "Come and follow me, and I will make you fishers of men."
20 தேநைவ தௌ ஜாலம்’ விஹாய தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத் ஆக³ச்ச²தாம்|
So they immediately left their nets and followed Him. As He went further on,
21 அநந்தரம்’ தஸ்மாத் ஸ்தா²நாத் வ்ரஜந் வ்ரஜந் ஸிவதி³யஸ்ய ஸுதௌ யாகூப்³ யோஹந்நாமாநௌ த்³வௌ ஸஹஜௌ தாதேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ நௌகோபரி ஜாலஸ்ய ஜீர்ணோத்³தா⁴ரம்’ குர்வ்வந்தௌ வீக்ஷ்ய தாவாஹூதவாந்|
He saw two other brothers, James the son of Zabdi and his brother John, in the boat with their father Zabdi mending their nets; and He called them.
22 தத்க்ஷணாத் தௌ நாவம்’ ஸ்வதாதஞ்ச விஹாய தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத்³கா³மிநௌ ப³பூ⁴வது: |
And they at once left the boat and their father, and followed Him.
23 அநந்தரம்’ ப⁴ஜநப⁴வநே ஸமுபதி³ஸ²ந் ராஜ்யஸ்ய ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ ப்ரசாரயந் மநுஜாநாம்’ ஸர்வ்வப்ரகாராந் ரோகா³ந் ஸர்வ்வப்ரகாரபீடா³ஸ்²ச ஸ²மயந் யீஸு²: க்ரு’த்ஸ்நம்’ கா³லீல்தே³ஸ²ம்’ ப்⁴ரமிதும் ஆரப⁴த|
Then Jesus travelled through all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom, and curing every kind of disease and infirmity among the people.
24 தேந க்ரு’த்ஸ்நஸுரியாதே³ஸ²ஸ்ய மத்⁴யம்’ தஸ்ய யஸோ² வ்யாப்நோத், அபரம்’ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தா அபஸ்மாரர்கீ³ண: பக்ஷாதா⁴திப்ரப்⁴ரு’தயஸ்²ச யாவந்தோ மநுஜா நாநாவித⁴வ்யாதி⁴பி⁴: க்லிஷ்டா ஆஸந், தேஷு ஸர்வ்வேஷு தஸ்ய ஸமீபம் ஆநீதேஷு ஸ தாந் ஸ்வஸ்தா²ந் சகார|
Thus His fame spread through all Syria; and they brought all the sick to Him, the people who were suffering from various diseases and pains--demoniacs, epileptics, paralytics; and He cured them.
25 ஏதேந கா³லீல்-தி³காபநி-யிரூஸா²லம்-யிஹூதீ³யதே³ஸே²ப்⁴யோ யர்த்³த³ந: பாராஞ்ச ப³ஹவோ மநுஜாஸ்தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத்³ ஆக³ச்ச²ந்|
And great crowds followed Him, coming from Galilee, from the Ten Towns, from Jerusalem, and from beyond the district on the other side of the Jordan.
