மதி²: 27
1 ப்ரபா⁴தே ஜாதே ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகலோகப்ராசீநா யீஸு²ம்’ ஹந்தும்’ தத்ப்ரதிகூலம்’ மந்த்ரயித்வா
And when it was morning, all the chief priests and the elders of the people consulted together against Jesus, to put him to death.
2 தம்’ ப³த்³வ்வா நீத்வா பந்தீயபீலாதாக்²யாதி⁴பே ஸமர்பயாமாஸு: |
And having bound him, they led him away, and delivered him up to Pilate the governor.
3 ததோ யீஸோ²: பரகரேவ்வர்பயிதா யிஹூதா³ஸ்தத்ப்ராணாத³ண்டா³ஜ்ஞாம்’ விதி³த்வா ஸந்தப்தமநா: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகலோகப்ராசீநாநாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ தாஸ்த்ரீம்’ஸ²ந்முத்³ரா: ப்ரதிதா³யாவாதீ³த்,
Then Judas, who betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented, and brought back the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders,
4 ஏதந்நிராகோ³நரப்ராணபரகரார்பணாத் கலுஷம்’ க்ரு’தவாநஹம்’| ததா³ த உதி³தவந்த: , தேநாஸ்மாகம்’ கிம்’? த்வயா தத்³ பு³த்⁴யதாம்|
saying, I sinned in betraying innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? See thou to it.
5 ததோ யிஹூதா³ மந்தி³ரமத்⁴யே தா முத்³ரா நிக்ஷிப்ய ப்ரஸ்தி²தவாந் இத்வா ச ஸ்வயமாத்மாநமுத்³ப³ப³ந்த⁴|
And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and withdrew; and went away and hanged himself.
6 பஸ்²சாத் ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாஸ்தா முத்³ரா ஆதா³ய கதி²தவந்த: , ஏதா முத்³ரா: ஸோ²ணிதமூல்யம்’ தஸ்மாத்³ பா⁴ண்டா³கா³ரே ந நிதா⁴தவ்யா: |
And the chief priests took the pieces of silver, and said, It is not lawful to put them into the treasury, since they are the price of blood.
7 அநந்தரம்’ தே மந்த்ரயித்வா விதே³ஸி²நாம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நஸ்தா²நாய தாபி⁴: குலாலஸ்ய க்ஷேத்ரமக்ரீணந்|
And they consulted together, and bought with them the potter's field, for a burial-place for strangers.
8 அதோ(அ)த்³யாபி தத்ஸ்தா²நம்’ ரக்தக்ஷேத்ரம்’ வத³ந்தி|
Wherefore that field hath been called, The Field of Blood, unto this day.
9 இத்த²ம்’ ஸதி இஸ்ராயேலீயஸந்தாநை ர்யஸ்ய மூல்யம்’ நிருபிதம்’, தஸ்ய த்ரிம்’ஸ²ந்முத்³ராமாநம்’ மூல்யம்’
Then was fulfilled that which was spoken through Jeremiah the prophet, saying, “And they took the thirty pieces of silver, the price of him that was priced, whom they of the sons of Israel priced,
10 மாம்’ ப்ரதி பரமேஸ்²வரஸ்யாதே³ஸா²த் தேப்⁴ய ஆதீ³யத, தேந ச குலாலஸ்ய க்ஷேத்ரம்’ க்ரீதமிதி யத்³வசநம்’ யிரிமியப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நா ப்ரோக்தம்’ தத் ததா³ஸித்⁴யத்|
and gave them for the potter's field; as the Lord commanded me.”
11 அநந்தரம்’ யீஸௌ² தத³தி⁴பதே: ஸம்முக² உபதிஷ்ட²தி ஸ தம்’ பப்ரச்ச², த்வம்’ கிம்’ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜா? ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தமவத³த், த்வம்’ ஸத்யமுக்தவாந்|
And Jesus stood before the governor; and the governor questioned him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? And Jesus said, I am.
12 கிந்து ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகப்ராசீநைரபி⁴யுக்தேந தேந கிமபி ந ப்ரத்யவாதி³|
And when he was accused by the chief priests and elders, he made no answer.
13 தத: பீலாதேந ஸ உதி³த: , இமே த்வத்ப்ரதிகூலத: கதி கதி ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³த³தி, தத் த்வம்’ ந ஸ்²ரு’ணோஷி?
Then saith Pilate to him, Dost thou not hear what things they are testifying against thee?
14 ததா²பி ஸ தேஷாமேகஸ்யாபி வசஸ உத்தரம்’ நோதி³தவாந்; தேந ஸோ(அ)தி⁴பதி ர்மஹாசித்ரம்’ விதா³மாஸ|
And he made him no answer, not even to one word; so that the governor greatly wondered.
15 அந்யச்ச தந்மஹகாலே(அ)தி⁴பதேரேதாத்³ரு’ஸீ² ராதிராஸீத், ப்ரஜா யம்’ கஞ்சந ப³ந்தி⁴நம்’ யாசந்தே, தமேவ ஸ மோசயதீதி|
Now at the feast the governor was wont to release to the multitude one prisoner, whom they would.
16 ததா³நீம்’ ப³ரப்³பா³நாமா கஸ்²சித் க்²யாதப³ந்த்⁴யாஸீத்|
And they had then a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas.
17 தத: பீலாதஸ்தத்ர மிலிதாந் லோகாந் அப்ரு’ச்ச²த், ஏஷ ப³ரப்³பா³ ப³ந்தீ⁴ க்²ரீஷ்டவிக்²யாதோ யீஸு²ஸ்²சைதயோ: கம்’ மோசயிஷ்யாமி? யுஷ்மாகம்’ கிமீப்ஸிதம்’?
When therefore they were assembled, Pilate said to them, Whom will ye that I release to you? Barabbas, or Jesus, who is called Christ?
18 தைரீர்ஷ்யயா ஸ ஸமர்பித இதி ஸ ஜ்ஞாதவாந்|
For he knew that for envy they had delivered him up.
19 அபரம்’ விசாராஸநோபவேஸ²நகாலே பீலாதஸ்ய பத்நீ ப்⁴ரு’த்யம்’ ப்ரஹித்ய தஸ்மை கத²யாமாஸ, தம்’ தா⁴ர்ம்மிகமநுஜம்’ ப்ரதி த்வயா கிமபி ந கர்த்தவ்யம்’; யஸ்மாத் தத்க்ரு’தே(அ)த்³யாஹம்’ ஸ்வப்நே ப்ரபூ⁴தகஷ்டமலபே⁴|
And while he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife sent to him, saying, Have nothing to do with that righteous man; for I have suffered much this day in a dream because of him.
20 அநந்தரம்’ ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகப்ராசீநா ப³ரப்³பா³ம்’ யாசித்வாதா³தும்’ யீஸு²ஞ்ச ஹந்தும்’ ஸகலலோகாந் ப்ராவர்த்தயந்|
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the multitudes to ask for Barabbas, and to destroy Jesus.
21 ததோ(அ)தி⁴பதிஸ்தாந் ப்ரு’ஷ்டவாந், ஏதயோ: கமஹம்’ மோசயிஷ்யாமி? யுஷ்மாகம்’ கேச்சா²? தே ப்ரோசு ர்ப³ரப்³பா³ம்’|
And the governor answering said to them, Which of the two will ye that I release to you? And they said, Barabbas.
22 ததா³ பீலாத: பப்ரச்ச², தர்ஹி யம்’ க்²ரீஷ்டம்’ வத³ந்தி, தம்’ யீஸு²ம்’ கிம்’ கரிஷ்யாமி? ஸர்வ்வே கத²யாமாஸு: , ஸ க்ருஸே²ந வித்⁴யதாம்’|
Pilate saith to them, What then shall I do with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified.
23 ததோ(அ)தி⁴பதிரவாதீ³த், குத: ? கிம்’ தேநாபராத்³த⁴ம்’? கிந்து தே புநருசை ர்ஜக³து³: , ஸ க்ருஸே²ந வித்⁴யதாம்’|
And he said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified.
24 ததா³ நிஜவாக்யமக்³ராஹ்யமபூ⁴த், கலஹஸ்²சாப்யபூ⁴த், பீலாத இதி விலோக்ய லோகாநாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம்’ தோயமாதா³ய கரௌ ப்ரக்ஷால்யாவோசத், ஏதஸ்ய தா⁴ர்ம்மிகமநுஷ்யஸ்ய ஸோ²ணிதபாதே நிர்தோ³ஷோ(அ)ஹம்’, யுஷ்மாபி⁴ரேவ தத்³ பு³த்⁴யதாம்’|
And when Pilate saw that it availed nothing, but that rather a tumult was arising, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of this blood; see ye to it.
25 ததா³ ஸர்வ்வா: ப்ரஜா: ப்ரத்யவோசந், தஸ்ய ஸோ²ணிதபாதாபராதோ⁴(அ)ஸ்மாகம் அஸ்மத்ஸந்தாநாநாஞ்சோபரி ப⁴வது|
And all the people answering said, His blood be on us, and on our children.
26 தத: ஸ தேஷாம்’ ஸமீபே ப³ரப்³பா³ம்’ மோசயாமாஸ யீஸு²ந்து கஷாபி⁴ராஹத்ய க்ருஸே²ந வேதி⁴தும்’ ஸமர்பயாமாஸ|
Then he released Barabbas to them, and having scourged Jesus, he delivered him up to be crucified.
27 அநந்தரம் அதி⁴பதே: ஸேநா அதி⁴பதே ர்க்³ரு’ஹம்’ யீஸு²மாநீய தஸ்ய ஸமீபே ஸேநாஸமூஹம்’ ஸம்’ஜக்³ரு’ஹு: |
Then the soldiers of the governor took Jesus into the governor's palace, and gathered to him the whole band.
28 ததஸ்தே தஸ்ய வஸநம்’ மோசயித்வா க்ரு’ஷ்ணலோஹிதவர்ணவஸநம்’ பரிதா⁴பயாமாஸு:
And they stripped him, and put on him a scarlet robe.
29 கண்டகாநாம்’ முகுடம்’ நிர்ம்மாய தச்சி²ரஸி த³து³: , தஸ்ய த³க்ஷிணகரே வேத்ரமேகம்’ த³த்த்வா தஸ்ய ஸம்முகே² ஜாநூநி பாதயித்வா, ஹே யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜந், துப்⁴யம்’ நம இத்யுக்த்வா தம்’ திரஸ்²சக்ரு: ,
And having platted a crown of thorns, they put it on his head, and a reed in his right hand; and bowing the knee before him, they mocked him, saying, Hail, king of the Jews!
30 ததஸ்தஸ்ய கா³த்ரே நிஷ்டீ²வம்’ த³த்வா தேந வேத்ரேண ஸி²ர ஆஜக்⁴நு: |
And they spit upon him, and took the reed and struck him on the head.
31 இத்த²ம்’ தம்’ திரஸ்க்ரு’த்ய தத்³ வஸநம்’ மோசயித்வா புநர்நிஜவஸநம்’ பரிதா⁴பயாஞ்சக்ரு: , தம்’ க்ருஸே²ந வேதி⁴தும்’ நீதவந்த: |
And after they had made sport of him, they took off the robe from him, and put on him his own garments, and led him away to crucify him.
32 பஸ்²சாத்தே ப³ஹிர்பூ⁴ய குரீணீயம்’ ஸி²மோந்நாமகமேகம்’ விலோக்ய க்ருஸ²ம்’ வோடு⁴ம்’ தமாத³தி³ரே|
And as they were going out, they found a man of Cyrene, Simon by name, whom they compelled to carry his cross.
33 அநந்தரம்’ கு³ல்க³ல்தாம் அர்தா²த் ஸி²ரஸ்கபாலநாமகஸ்தா²நமு பஸ்தா²ய தே யீஸ²வே பித்தமிஸ்²ரிதாம்லரஸம்’ பாதும்’ த³து³: ,
And having come to a place called Golgotha, that is, Place of a Skull,
34 கிந்து ஸ தமாஸ்வாத்³ய ந பபௌ|
they gave him wine to drink mingled with gall; and when he had tasted it, he refused to drink.
35 ததா³நீம்’ தே தம்’ க்ருஸே²ந ஸம்’வித்⁴ய தஸ்ய வஸநாநி கு³டிகாபாதேந விப⁴ஜ்ய ஜக்³ரு’ஹு: , தஸ்மாத், விப⁴ஜந்தே(அ)த⁴ரீயம்’ மே தே மநுஷ்யா: பரஸ்பரம்’| மது³த்தரீயவஸ்த்ரார்த²ம்’ கு³டிகாம்’ பாதயந்தி ச|| யதே³தத்³வசநம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³பி⁴ருக்தமாஸீத், ததா³ தத்³ அஸித்⁴யத்,
And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them, casting lots.
36 பஸ்²சாத் தே தத்ரோபவிஸ்²ய தத்³ரக்ஷணகர்வ்வணி நியுக்தாஸ்தஸ்து²: |
And sitting down, they watched him there.
37 அபரம் ஏஷ யிஹூதீ³யாநாம்’ ராஜா யீஸு²ரித்யபவாத³லிபிபத்ரம்’ தச்சி²ரஸ ஊர்த்³வ்வே யோஜயாமாஸு: |
And they set up over his head the charge against him in writing: “This is Jesus the king of the Jews.”
38 ததஸ்தஸ்ய வாமே த³க்ஷிணே ச த்³வௌ சைரௌ தேந ஸாகம்’ க்ருஸே²ந விவிது⁴: |
Then are crucified with him two robbers, one on the right hand, and one on the left.
39 ததா³ பாந்தா² நிஜஸி²ரோ லாட³யித்வா தம்’ நிந்த³ந்தோ ஜக³து³: ,
And they who passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
40 ஹே ஈஸ்²வரமந்தி³ரப⁴ஞ்ஜக தி³நத்ரயே தந்நிர்ம்மாத: ஸ்வம்’ ரக்ஷ, சேத்த்வமீஸ்²வரஸுதஸ்தர்ஹி க்ருஸா²த³வரோஹ|
and saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it up in three days, save thyself, if thou art the Son of God, and come down from the cross.
41 ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாத்⁴யாபகப்ராசீநாஸ்²ச ததா² திரஸ்க்ரு’த்ய ஜக³து³: ,
So also the chief priests, mocking, with the scribes and elders, said,
42 ஸோ(அ)ந்யஜநாநாவத், கிந்து ஸ்வமவிதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோதி| யதீ³ஸ்ராயேலோ ராஜா ப⁴வேத், தர்ஹீதா³நீமேவ க்ருஸா²த³வரோஹது, தேந தம்’ வயம்’ ப்ரத்யேஷ்யாம: |
He saved others, cannot he save himself? He is the king of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe in him.
43 ஸ ஈஸ்²வரே ப்ரத்யாஸா²மகரோத், யதீ³ஸ்²வரஸ்தஸ்மிந் ஸந்துஷ்டஸ்தர்ஹீதா³நீமேவ தமவேத், யத: ஸ உக்தவாந் அஹமீஸ்²வரஸுத: |
He trusteth in God; let him now deliver him, if he desireth him; for he said, I am the Son of God.
44 யௌ ஸ்தேநௌ ஸாகம்’ தேந க்ருஸே²ந வித்³தௌ⁴ தௌ தத்³வதே³வ தம்’ நிநிந்த³து: |
The robbers also, who were crucified with him, reviled him in the same manner.
45 ததா³ த்³விதீயயாமாத் த்ரு’தீயயாமம்’ யாவத் ஸர்வ்வதே³ஸே² தமிரம்’ ப³பூ⁴வ,
And from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land, until the ninth hour.
46 த்ரு’தீயயாமே "ஏலீ ஏலீ லாமா ஸி²வக்தநீ", அர்தா²த் மதீ³ஸ்²வர மதீ³ஸ்²வர குதோ மாமத்யாக்ஷீ: ? யீஸு²ருச்சைரிதி ஜகா³த³|
And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 ததா³ தத்ர ஸ்தி²தா: கேசித் தத் ஸ்²ருத்வா ப³பா⁴ஷிரே, அயம் ஏலியமாஹூயதி|
Some of those standing there, when they heard this, said, This man is calling for Elijah.
48 தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யாத்³ ஏக: ஸீ²க்⁴ரம்’ க³த்வா ஸ்பஞ்ஜம்’ க்³ரு’ஹீத்வா தத்ராம்லரஸம்’ த³த்த்வா நலேந பாதும்’ தஸ்மை த³தௌ³|
And one of them immediately ran and took a sponge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave it to him to drink.
49 இதரே(அ)கத²யந் திஷ்ட²த, தம்’ ரக்ஷிதும் ஏலிய ஆயாதி நவேதி பஸ்²யாம: |
But the rest said, Hold! let us see whether Elijah will come to save him.
50 யீஸு²: புநருசைராஹூய ப்ராணாந் ஜஹௌ|
And Jesus, crying out again with a loud voice, yielded up his spirit.
51 ததோ மந்தி³ரஸ்ய விச்சே²த³வஸநம் ஊர்த்³வ்வாத³தோ⁴ யாவத் சி²த்³யமாநம்’ த்³விதா⁴ப⁴வத்,
And, lo! the veil of the temple was rent in two from the top to the bottom; and the earth, quaked, and the rocks were rent,
52 பூ⁴மிஸ்²சகம்பே பூ⁴த⁴ரோவ்யதீ³ர்ய்யத ச| ஸ்²மஸா²நே முக்தே பூ⁴ரிபுண்யவதாம்’ ஸுப்ததே³ஹா உத³திஷ்ட²ந்,
and the tombs were opened; and many bodies of holy men that slept, arose,
53 ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ வஹிர்பூ⁴ய தது³த்தா²நாத் பரம்’ புண்யபுரம்’ க³த்வா ப³ஹுஜநாந் த³ர்ஸ²யாமாஸு: |
and coming out of the tombs after his resurrection went into the holy city and appeared to many.
54 யீஸு²ரக்ஷணாய நியுக்த: ஸ²தஸேநாபதிஸ்தத்ஸங்கி³நஸ்²ச தாத்³ரு’ஸீ²ம்’ பூ⁴கம்பாதி³க⁴டநாம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா பீ⁴தா அவத³ந், ஏஷ ஈஸ்²வரபுத்ரோ ப⁴வதி|
And the centurion and they who with him were watching Jesus, when they saw the earthquake, and what was taking place, were exceedingly afraid, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.
55 யா ப³ஹுயோஷிதோ யீஸு²ம்’ ஸேவமாநா கா³லீலஸ்தத்பஸ்²சாதா³க³தாஸ்தாஸாம்’ மத்⁴யே
And many women were there, looking on from a distance, who had followed Jesus from Galilee, rendering services to him;
56 மக்³த³லீநீ மரியம் யாகூப்³யோஸ்²யோ ர்மாதா யா மரியம் ஸிப³தி³யபுத்ரயோ ர்மாதா ச யோஷித ஏதா தூ³ரே திஷ்ட²ந்த்யோ த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: |
among whom was Mary the Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Joseph, and the mother of the sons of Zebedee.
57 ஸந்த்⁴யாயாம்’ ஸத்யம் அரிமதி²யாநக³ரஸ்ய யூஷப்²நாமா த⁴நீ மநுஜோ யீஸோ²: ஸி²ஷ்யத்வாத்
And at evening there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who was himself also a disciple of Jesus.
58 பீலாதஸ்ய ஸமீபம்’ க³த்வா யீஸோ²: காயம்’ யயாசே, தேந பீலாத: காயம்’ தா³தும் ஆதி³தே³ஸ²|
This man went to Pilate, and asked for the body of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be given him.
59 யூஷப்² தத்காயம்’ நீத்வா ஸு²சிவஸ்த்ரேணாச்சா²த்³ய
And Joseph took the body, and wrapped it in a clean linen cloth,
60 ஸ்வார்த²ம்’ ஸை²லே யத் ஸ்²மஸா²நம்’ சகா²ந, தந்மத்⁴யே தத்காயம்’ நிதா⁴ய தஸ்ய த்³வாரி வ்ரு’ஹத்பாஷாணம்’ த³தௌ³|
and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock, and having rolled a great stone to the door of the tomb, went away.
61 கிந்து மக்³த³லீநீ மரியம் அந்யமரியம் ஏதே ஸ்த்ரியௌ தத்ர ஸ்²மஸா²நஸம்முக² உபவிவிஸ²து: |
And Mary the Magdalene was there, and the other Mary, sitting over against the sepulchre.
62 தத³நந்தரம்’ நிஸ்தாரோத்ஸவஸ்யாயோஜநதி³நாத் பரே(அ)ஹநி ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகா: பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்²ச மிலித்வா பீலாதமுபாக³த்யாகத²யந்,
And on the next day, that following the day of the preparation, the chief priests and the Pharisees came together to Pilate,
63 ஹே மஹேச்ச² ஸ ப்ரதாரகோ ஜீவந அகத²யத், தி³நத்ரயாத் பரம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நாது³த்தா²ஸ்யாமி தத்³வாக்யம்’ ஸ்மராமோ வயம்’;
saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I rise.
64 தஸ்மாத் த்ரு’தீயதி³நம்’ யாவத் தத் ஸ்²மஸா²நம்’ ரக்ஷிதுமாதி³ஸ²து, நோசேத் தச்சி²ஷ்யா யாமிந்யாமாக³த்ய தம்’ ஹ்ரு’த்வா லோகாந் வதி³ஷ்யந்தி, ஸ ஸ்²மஸா²நாது³த³திஷ்ட²த், ததா² ஸதி ப்ரத²மப்⁴ராந்தே: ஸே²ஷீயப்⁴ராந்தி ர்மஹதீ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
Command therefore that the sepulchre be made secure until the third day, lest his disciples come and steal him away, and say to the people, He hath risen from the dead; and the last error will be worse than the first.
65 ததா³ பீலாத அவாதீ³த், யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸமீபே ரக்ஷிக³ண ஆஸ்தே, யூயம்’ க³த்வா யதா² ஸாத்⁴யம்’ ரக்ஷயத|
Pilate said to them, Ye have a guard; go, make it as secure as ye know how.
66 ததஸ்தே க³த்வா தத்³தூ³ரபாஷாணம்’ முத்³ராங்கிதம்’ க்ரு’த்வா ரக்ஷிக³ணம்’ நியோஜ்ய ஸ்²மஸா²நம்’ ரக்ஷயாமாஸு: |
And they went, and made the sepulchre secure, sealing the stone, and setting the guard.
