மதி²: 22
1 அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²: புநரபி த்³ரு’ஷ்டாந்தேந தாந் அவாதீ³த்,
And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said,
2 ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யம் ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²ஸ்ய ந்ரு’பதே: ஸமம்’, யோ நிஜ புத்ரம்’ விவாஹயந் ஸர்வ்வாந் நிமந்த்ரிதாந் ஆநேதும்’ தா³ஸேயாந் ப்ரஹிதவாந்,
The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son,
3 கிந்து தே ஸமாக³ந்தும்’ நேஷ்டவந்த: |
And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come.
4 ததோ ராஜா புநரபி தா³ஸாநந்யாந் இத்யுக்த்வா ப்ரேஷயாமாஸ, நிமந்த்ரிதாந் வத³த, பஸ்²யத, மம பே⁴ஜ்யமாஸாதி³தமாஸ்தே, நிஜவ்டஷாதி³புஷ்டஜந்தூந் மாரயித்வா ஸர்வ்வம்’ கா²த்³யத்³ரவ்யமாஸாதி³தவாந், யூயம்’ விவாஹமாக³ச்ச²த|
Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.
5 தத²பி தே துச்சீ²க்ரு’த்ய கேசித் நிஜக்ஷேத்ரம்’ கேசித்³ வாணிஜ்யம்’ ப்ரதி ஸ்வஸ்வமார்கே³ண சலிதவந்த: |
But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise:
6 அந்யே லோகாஸ்தஸ்ய தா³ஸேயாந் த்⁴ரு’த்வா தௌ³ராத்ம்யம்’ வ்யவஹ்ரு’த்ய தாநவதி⁴ஷு: |
And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them.
7 அநந்தரம்’ ஸ ந்ரு’பதிஸ்தாம்’ வார்த்தாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா க்ருத்⁴யந் ஸைந்யாநி ப்ரஹித்ய தாந் கா⁴தகாந் ஹத்வா தேஷாம்’ நக³ரம்’ தா³ஹயாமாஸ|
But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city.
8 தத: ஸ நிஜதா³ஸேயாந் ப³பா⁴ஷே, விவாஹீயம்’ போ⁴ஜ்யமாஸாதி³தமாஸ்தே, கிந்து நிமந்த்ரிதா ஜநா அயோக்³யா: |
Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy.
9 தஸ்மாத்³ யூயம்’ ராஜமார்க³ம்’ க³த்வா யாவதோ மநுஜாந் பஸ்²யத, தாவதஏவ விவாஹீயபோ⁴ஜ்யாய நிமந்த்ரயத|
Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage.
10 ததா³ தே தா³ஸேயா ராஜமார்க³ம்’ க³த்வா ப⁴த்³ராந் அப⁴த்³ராந் வா யாவதோ ஜநாந் த³த்³ரு’ஸு²: , தாவதஏவ ஸம்’க்³ரு’ஹ்யாநயந்; ததோ(அ)ப்⁴யாக³தமநுஜை ர்விவாஹக்³ரு’ஹம் அபூர்ய்யத|
So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests.
11 ததா³நீம்’ ஸ ராஜா ஸர்வ்வாநப்⁴யாக³தாந் த்³ரஷ்டும் அப்⁴யந்தரமாக³தவாந்; ததா³ தத்ர விவாஹீயவஸநஹீநமேகம்’ ஜநம்’ வீக்ஷ்ய தம்’ ஜகா³த்³,
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment:
12 ஹே மித்ர, த்வம்’ விவாஹீயவஸநம்’ விநா கத²மத்ர ப்ரவிஷ்டவாந்? தேந ஸ நிருத்தரோ ப³பூ⁴வ|
And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.
13 ததா³ ராஜா நிஜாநுசராந் அவத³த், ஏதஸ்ய கரசரணாந் ப³த்³தா⁴ யத்ர ரோத³நம்’ த³ந்தைர்த³ந்தக⁴ர்ஷணஞ்ச ப⁴வதி, தத்ர வஹிர்பூ⁴ததமிஸ்ரே தம்’ நிக்ஷிபத|
Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
14 இத்த²ம்’ ப³ஹவ ஆஹூதா அல்பே மநோபி⁴மதா: |
For many are called, but few are chosen.
15 அநந்தரம்’ பி²ரூஸி²ந: ப்ரக³த்ய யதா² ஸம்’லாபேந தம் உந்மாதே² பாதயேயுஸ்ததா² மந்த்ரயித்வா
Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in his talk.
16 ஹேரோதீ³யமநுஜை: ஸாகம்’ நிஜஸி²ஷ்யக³ணேந தம்’ ப்ரதி கத²யாமாஸு: , ஹே கு³ரோ, ப⁴வாந் ஸத்ய: ஸத்யமீஸ்²வரீயமார்க³முபதி³ஸ²தி, கமபி மாநுஷம்’ நாநுருத்⁴யதே, கமபி நாபேக்ஷதே ச, தத்³ வயம்’ ஜாநீம: |
And they sent out unto him their disciples with the Herodians, saying, Master, we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.
17 அத: கைஸரபூ⁴பாய கரோ(அ)ஸ்மாகம்’ தா³தவ்யோ ந வா? அத்ர ப⁴வதா கிம்’ பு³த்⁴யதே? தத்³ அஸ்மாந் வத³து|
Tell us therefore, What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Caesar, or not?
18 ததோ யீஸு²ஸ்தேஷாம்’ க²லதாம்’ விஜ்ஞாய கதி²தவாந், ரே கபடிந: யுயம்’ குதோ மாம்’ பரிக்ஷத்⁴வே?
But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?
19 தத்கரதா³நஸ்ய முத்³ராம்’ மாம்’ த³ர்ஸ²யத| ததா³நீம்’ தைஸ்தஸ்ய ஸமீபம்’ முத்³ராசதுர்த²பா⁴க³ ஆநீதே
Shew me the tribute money. And they brought unto him a penny.
20 ஸ தாந் பப்ரச்ச², அத்ர கஸ்யேயம்’ மூர்த்தி ர்நாம சாஸ்தே? தே ஜக³து³: , கைஸரபூ⁴பஸ்ய|
And he saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription?
21 தத: ஸ உக்தவாந, கைஸரஸ்ய யத் தத் கைஸராய த³த்த, ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய யத் தத்³ ஈஸ்²வராய த³த்த|
They say unto him, Cæsar’s. Then saith he unto them, Render therefore unto Cæsar the things which are Cæsar’s; and unto God the things that are God’s.
22 இதி வாக்யம்’ நிஸ²ம்ய தே விஸ்மயம்’ விஜ்ஞாய தம்’ விஹாய சலிதவந்த: |
When they had heard these words, they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.
23 தஸ்மிந்நஹநி ஸிதூ³கிநோ(அ)ர்தா²த் ஸ்²மஸா²நாத் நோத்தா²ஸ்யந்தீதி வாக்யம்’ யே வத³ந்தி, தே யீஸே²ரந்திகம் ஆக³த்ய பப்ரச்சு²: ,
The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say that there is no resurrection, and asked him,
24 ஹே கு³ரோ, கஸ்²சிந்மநுஜஸ்²சேத் நி: ஸந்தாந: ஸந் ப்ராணாந் த்யஜதி, தர்ஹி தஸ்ய ப்⁴ராதா தஸ்ய ஜாயாம்’ வ்யுஹ்ய ப்⁴ராது: ஸந்தாநம் உத்பாத³யிஷ்யதீதி மூஸா ஆதி³ஷ்டவாந்|
Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, his brother shall marry his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.
25 கிந்த்வஸ்மாகமத்ர கே(அ)பி ஜநா: ஸப்தஸஹோத³ரா ஆஸந், தேஷாம்’ ஜ்யேஷ்ட² ஏகாம்’ கந்யாம்’ வ்யவஹாத், அபரம்’ ப்ராணத்யாக³காலே ஸ்வயம்’ நி: ஸந்தாந: ஸந் தாம்’ ஸ்த்ரியம்’ ஸ்வப்⁴ராதரி ஸமர்பிதவாந்,
Now there were with us seven brethren: and the first, when he had married a wife, deceased, and, having no issue, left his wife unto his brother:
26 ததோ த்³விதீயாதி³ஸப்தமாந்தாஸ்²ச ததை²வ சக்ரு: |
Likewise the second also, and the third, unto the seventh.
27 ஸே²ஷே ஸாபீ நாரீ மமார|
And last of all the woman died also.
28 ம்ரு’தாநாம் உத்தா²நஸமயே தேஷாம்’ ஸப்தாநாம்’ மத்⁴யே ஸா நாரீ கஸ்ய பா⁴ர்ய்யா ப⁴விஷ்யதி? யஸ்மாத் ஸர்வ்வஏவ தாம்’ வ்யவஹந்|
Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her.
29 ததோ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த், யூயம்’ த⁴ர்ம்மபுஸ்தகம் ஈஸ்²வரீயாம்’ ஸ²க்திஞ்ச ந விஜ்ஞாய ப்⁴ராந்திமந்த: |
Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.
30 உத்தா²நப்ராப்தா லோகா ந விவஹந்தி, ந ச வாசா தீ³யந்தே, கிந்த்வீஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்த²தூ³தாநாம்’ ஸத்³ரு’ஸா² ப⁴வந்தி|
For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
31 அபரம்’ ம்ரு’தாநாமுத்தா²நமதி⁴ யுஷ்மாந் ப்ரதீயமீஸ்²வரோக்தி: ,
But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,
32 "அஹமிப்³ராஹீம ஈஸ்²வர இஸ்ஹாக ஈஸ்²வரோ யாகூப³ ஈஸ்²வர" இதி கிம்’ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்நாபாடி²? கிந்த்வீஸ்²வரோ ஜீவதாம் ஈஸ்²வர: , ஸ ம்ரு’தாநாமீஸ்²வரோ நஹி|
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.
33 இதி ஸ்²ருத்வா ஸர்வ்வே லோகாஸ்தஸ்யோபதே³ஸா²த்³ விஸ்மயம்’ க³தா: |
And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.
34 அநந்தரம்’ ஸிதூ³கிநாம் நிருத்தரத்வவார்தாம்’ நிஸ²ம்ய பி²ரூஸி²ந ஏகத்ர மிலிதவந்த: ,
But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered together.
35 தேஷாமேகோ வ்யவஸ்தா²பகோ யீஸு²ம்’ பரீக்ஷிதும்’ பபச்ச²,
Then one of them, which was a lawyer, asked him a question, tempting him, and saying,
36 ஹே கு³ரோ வ்யவஸ்தா²ஸா²ஸ்த்ரமத்⁴யே காஜ்ஞா ஸ்²ரேஷ்டா²?
Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
37 ததோ யீஸு²ருவாச, த்வம்’ ஸர்வ்வாந்த: கரணை: ஸர்வ்வப்ராணை: ஸர்வ்வசித்தைஸ்²ச ஸாகம்’ ப்ரபௌ⁴ பரமேஸ்²வரே ப்ரீயஸ்வ,
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
38 ஏஷா ப்ரத²மமஹாஜ்ஞா| தஸ்யா: ஸத்³ரு’ஸீ² த்³விதீயாஜ்ஞைஷா,
This is the first and great commandment.
39 தவ ஸமீபவாஸிநி ஸ்வாத்மநீவ ப்ரேம குரு|
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
40 அநயோ ர்த்³வயோராஜ்ஞயோ: க்ரு’த்ஸ்நவ்யவஸ்தா²யா ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வக்த்ரு’க்³ரந்த²ஸ்ய ச பா⁴ரஸ்திஷ்ட²தி|
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
41 அநந்தரம்’ பி²ரூஸி²நாம் ஏகத்ர ஸ்தி²திகாலே யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் பப்ரச்ச²,
While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them,
42 க்²ரீஷ்டமதி⁴ யுஷ்மாகம்’ கீத்³ரு’க்³போ³தோ⁴ ஜாயதே? ஸ கஸ்ய ஸந்தாந: ? ததஸ்தே ப்ரத்யவத³ந், தா³யூத³: ஸந்தாந: |
Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, The Son of David.
43 ததா³ ஸ உக்தவாந், தர்ஹி தா³யூத்³ கத²ம் ஆத்மாதி⁴ஷ்டா²நேந தம்’ ப்ரபு⁴ம்’ வத³தி?
He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying,
44 யதா² மம ப்ரபு⁴மித³ம்’ வாக்யமவத³த் பரமேஸ்²வர: | தவாரீந் பாத³பீட²ம்’ தே யாவந்நஹி கரோம்யஹம்’| தாவத் காலம்’ மதீ³யே த்வம்’ த³க்ஷபார்ஸ்²வ உபாவிஸ²| அதோ யதி³ தா³யூத்³ தம்’ ப்ரபு⁴ம்’ வத³தி, ர்திஹ ஸ கத²ம்’ தஸ்ய ஸந்தாநோ ப⁴வதி?
The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool?
45 ததா³நீம்’ தேஷாம்’ கோபி தத்³வாக்யஸ்ய கிமப்யுத்தரம்’ தா³தும்’ நாஸ²க்நோத்;
If David then call him Lord, how is he his son?
46 தத்³தி³நமாரப்⁴ய தம்’ கிமபி வாக்யம்’ ப்ரஷ்டும்’ கஸ்யாபி ஸாஹஸோ நாப⁴வத்|
And no man was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that day forth ask him any more questions.
