மதி²: 16
1 ததா³நீம்’ பி²ரூஸி²ந: ஸிதூ³கிநஸ்²சாக³த்ய தம்’ பரீக்ஷிதும்’ நப⁴மீயம்’ கிஞ்சந லக்ஷ்ம த³ர்ஸ²யிதும்’ தஸ்மை நிவேத³யாமாஸு: |
And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming to [him], asked him, tempting [him], to shew them a sign out of heaven.
2 தத: ஸ உக்தவாந், ஸந்த்⁴யாயாம்’ நப⁴ஸோ ரக்தத்வாத்³ யூயம்’ வத³த², ஸ்²வோ நிர்ம்மலம்’ தி³நம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி;
But he answering said to them, When evening is come, ye say, Fine weather, for the sky is red;
3 ப்ராத: காலே ச நப⁴ஸோ ரக்தத்வாத் மலிநத்வாஞ்ச வத³த², ஜ²ஞ்ப்⁴ஸ²த்³ய ப⁴விஷ்யதி| ஹே கபடிநோ யதி³ யூயம் அந்தரீக்ஷஸ்ய லக்ஷ்ம போ³த்³து⁴ம்’ ஸ²க்நுத², தர்ஹி காலஸ்யைதஸ்ய லக்ஷ்ம கத²ம்’ போ³த்³து⁴ம்’ ந ஸ²க்நுத²?
and in the morning, A storm to-day, for the sky is red [and] lowering; ye know [how] to discern the face of the sky, but ye cannot the signs of the times.
4 ஏதத்காலஸ்ய து³ஷ்டோ வ்யபி⁴சாரீ ச வம்’ஸோ² லக்ஷ்ம க³வேஷயதி, கிந்து யூநஸோ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோ லக்ஷ்ம விநாந்யத் கிமபி லக்ஷ்ம தாந் ந த³ர்ஸ²யிய்யதே| ததா³நீம்’ ஸ தாந் விஹாய ப்ரதஸ்தே²|
A wicked and adulterous generation seeks after a sign, and a sign shall not be given to it save the sign of Jonas. And he left them and went away.
5 அநந்தரமந்யபாரக³மநகாலே தஸ்ய ஸி²ஷ்யா: பூபமாநேதும்’ விஸ்ம்ரு’தவந்த: |
And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
6 யீஸு²ஸ்தாநவாதீ³த், யூயம்’ பி²ரூஸி²நாம்’ ஸிதூ³கிநாஞ்ச கிண்வம்’ ப்ரதி ஸாவதா⁴நா: ஸதர்காஸ்²ச ப⁴வத|
And Jesus said to them, See and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
7 தேந தே பரஸ்பரம்’ விவிச்ய கத²யிதுமாரேபி⁴ரே, வயம்’ பூபாநாநேதும்’ விஸ்ம்ரு’தவந்த ஏதத்காரணாத்³ இதி கத²யதி|
And they reasoned among themselves, saying, Because we have taken no bread.
8 கிந்து யீஸு²ஸ்தத்³விஜ்ஞாய தாநவோசத், ஹே ஸ்தோகவிஸ்²வாஸிநோ யூயம்’ பூபாநாநயநமதி⁴ குத: பரஸ்பரமேதத்³ விவிம்’க்ய?
And Jesus knowing [it], said, Why reason ye among yourselves, O ye of little faith, because ye have taken no bread?
9 யுஷ்மாபி⁴: கிமத்³யாபி ந ஜ்ஞாயதே? பஞ்சபி⁴: பூபை: பஞ்சஸஹஸ்ரபுருஷேஷு போ⁴ஜிதேஷு ப⁴க்ஷ்யோச்சி²ஷ்டபூர்ணாந் கதி ட³லகாந் ஸமக்³ரு’ஹ்லீதம்’;
Do ye not yet understand nor remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many hand-baskets ye took [up]?
10 ததா² ஸப்தபி⁴: பூபைஸ்²சது: ஸஹஸ்ரபுருஷேஷு பே⁴ஜிதேஷு கதி ட³லகாந் ஸமக்³ரு’ஹ்லீத, தத் கிம்’ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ர்ந ஸ்மர்ய்யதே?
nor the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took [up]?
11 தஸ்மாத் பி²ரூஸி²நாம்’ ஸிதூ³கிநாஞ்ச கிண்வம்’ ப்ரதி ஸாவதா⁴நாஸ்திஷ்ட²த, கதா²மிமாம் அஹம்’ பூபாநதி⁴ நாகத²யம்’, ஏதத்³ யூயம்’ குதோ ந பு³த்⁴யத்⁴வே?
How do ye not understand that [it was] not concerning bread I said to you, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and Sadducees?
12 ததா³நீம்’ பூபகிண்வம்’ ப்ரதி ஸாவதா⁴நாஸ்திஷ்ட²தேதி நோக்த்வா பி²ரூஸி²நாம்’ ஸிதூ³கிநாஞ்ச உபதே³ஸ²ம்’ ப்ரதி ஸாவதா⁴நாஸ்திஷ்ட²தேதி கதி²தவாந், இதி தைரபோ³தி⁴|
Then they comprehended that he did not speak of being beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and Sadducees.
13 அபரஞ்ச யீஸு²: கைஸரியா-பி²லிபிப்ரதே³ஸ²மாக³த்ய ஸி²ஷ்யாந் அப்ரு’ச்ச²த், யோ(அ)ஹம்’ மநுஜஸுத: ஸோ(அ)ஹம்’ க: ? லோகைரஹம்’ கிமுச்யே?
But when Jesus was come into the parts of Caesarea-Philippi, he demanded of his disciples, saying, Who do men say that I the Son of man am?
14 ததா³நீம்’ தே கதி²தவந்த: , கேசித்³ வத³ந்தி த்வம்’ மஜ்ஜயிதா யோஹந், கேசித்³வத³ந்தி, த்வம் ஏலிய: , கேசிச்ச வத³ந்தி, த்வம்’ யிரிமியோ வா கஸ்²சித்³ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதீ³தி|
And they said, Some, John the baptist; and others, Elias; and others again, Jeremias or one of the prophets.
15 பஸ்²சாத் ஸ தாந் பப்ரச்ச², யூயம்’ மாம்’ கம்’ வத³த²? தத: ஸி²மோந் பிதர உவாச,
He says to them, But ye, who do ye say that I am?
16 த்வமமரேஸ்²வரஸ்யாபி⁴ஷிக்தபுத்ர: |
And Simon Peter answering said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.
17 ததோ யீஸு²: கதி²தவாந், ஹே யூநஸ: புத்ர ஸி²மோந் த்வம்’ த⁴ந்ய: ; யத: கோபி அநுஜஸ்த்வய்யேதஜ்ஜ்ஞாநம்’ நோத³பாத³யத், கிந்து மம ஸ்வர்க³ஸ்ய: பிதோத³பாத³யத்|
And Jesus answering said to him, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona, for flesh and blood has not revealed [it] to thee, but my Father who is in the heavens.
18 அதோ(அ)ஹம்’ த்வாம்’ வதா³மி, த்வம்’ பிதர: (ப்ரஸ்தர: ) அஹஞ்ச தஸ்ய ப்ரஸ்தரஸ்யோபரி ஸ்வமண்ட³லீம்’ நிர்ம்மாஸ்யாமி, தேந நிரயோ ப³லாத் தாம்’ பராஜேதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யதி| (Hadēs g86)
And I also, I say unto thee that thou art Peter, and on this rock I will build my assembly, and hades' gates shall not prevail against it. (Hadēs g86)
19 அஹம்’ துப்⁴யம்’ ஸ்வர்கீ³யராஜ்யஸ்ய குஞ்ஜிகாம்’ தா³ஸ்யாமி, தேந யத் கிஞ்சந த்வம்’ ப்ரு’தி²வ்யாம்’ ப⁴ம்’த்ஸ்யஸி தத்ஸ்வர்கே³ ப⁴ம்’த்ஸ்யதே, யச்ச கிஞ்சந மஹ்யாம்’ மோக்ஷ்யஸி தத் ஸ்வர்கே³ மோக்ஷ்யதே|
And I will give to thee the keys of the kingdom of the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest bind upon the earth shall be bound in the heavens; and whatsoever thou mayest loose on the earth shall be loosed in the heavens.
20 பஸ்²சாத் ஸ ஸி²ஷ்யாநாதி³ஸ²த், அஹமபி⁴ஷிக்தோ யீஸு²ரிதி கதா²ம்’ கஸ்மைசித³பி யூயம்’ மா கத²யத|
Then he enjoined on his disciples that they should say to no man that he was the Christ.
21 அந்யஞ்ச யிரூஸா²லம்நக³ரம்’ க³த்வா ப்ராசீநலோகேப்⁴ய: ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகேப்⁴ய உபாத்⁴யாயேப்⁴யஸ்²ச ப³ஹுது³: க²போ⁴க³ஸ்தை ர்ஹதத்வம்’ த்ரு’தீயதி³நே புநருத்தா²நஞ்ச மமாவஸ்²யகம் ஏதா: கதா² யீஸு²ஸ்தத்காலமாரப்⁴ய ஸி²ஷ்யாந் ஜ்ஞாபயிதும் ஆரப்³த⁴வாந்|
From that time Jesus began to shew to his disciples that he must go away to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and the third day be raised.
22 ததா³நீம்’ பிதரஸ்தஸ்ய கரம்’ க்⁴ரு’த்வா தர்ஜயித்வா கத²யிதுமாரப்³த⁴வாந், ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴, தத் த்வத்தோ தூ³ரம்’ யாது, த்வாம்’ ப்ரதி கதா³பி ந க⁴டிஷ்யதே|
And Peter taking him to [him] began to rebuke him, saying, [God] be favourable to thee, Lord; this shall in no wise be unto thee.
23 கிந்து ஸ வத³நம்’ பராவர்த்ய பிதரம்’ ஜகா³த³, ஹே விக்⁴நகாரிந், மத்ஸம்முகா²த்³ தூ³ரீப⁴வ, த்வம்’ மாம்’ பா³த⁴ஸே, ஈஸ்²வரீயகார்ய்யாத் மாநுஷீயகார்ய்யம்’ துப்⁴யம்’ ரோசதே|
But turning round, he said to Peter, Get away behind me, Satan; thou art an offence to me, for thy mind is not on the things that are of God, but on the things that are of men.
24 அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு²: ஸ்வீயஸி²ஷ்யாந் உக்தவாந் ய: கஸ்²சித் மம பஸ்²சாத்³கா³மீ ப⁴விதும் இச்ச²தி, ஸ ஸ்வம்’ தா³ம்யது, ததா² ஸ்வக்ருஸ²ம்’ க்³ரு’ஹ்லந் மத்பஸ்²சாதா³யாது|
Then Jesus said to his disciples, If any one desires to come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
25 யதோ ய: ப்ராணாந் ரக்ஷிதுமிச்ச²தி, ஸ தாந் ஹாரயிஷ்யதி, கிந்து யோ மத³ர்த²ம்’ நிஜப்ராணாந் ஹாரயதி, ஸ தாந் ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி|
For whosoever shall desire to save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake shall find it.
26 மாநுஷோ யதி³ ஸர்வ்வம்’ ஜக³த் லப⁴தே நிஜப்ரணாந் ஹாரயதி, தர்ஹி தஸ்ய கோ லாப⁴: ? மநுஜோ நிஜப்ராணாநாம்’ விநிமயேந வா கிம்’ தா³தும்’ ஸ²க்நோதி?
For what does a man profit, if he should gain the whole world and suffer the loss of his soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
27 மநுஜஸுத: ஸ்வதூ³தை: ஸாகம்’ பிது: ப்ரபா⁴வேணாக³மிஷ்யதி; ததா³ ப்ரதிமநுஜம்’ ஸ்வஸ்வகர்ம்மாநுஸாராத் ப²லம்’ தா³ஸ்யதி|
For the Son of man is about to come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then he will render to each according to his doings.
28 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் தத்²யம்’ வச்மி, ஸராஜ்யம்’ மநுஜஸுதம் ஆக³தம்’ ந பஸ்²யந்தோ ம்ரு’த்யும்’ ந ஸ்வாதி³ஷ்யந்தி, ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸா²: கதிபயஜநா அத்ராபி த³ண்டா³யமாநா: ஸந்தி|
Verily I say unto you, There are some of those standing here that shall not taste of death at all until they shall have seen the Son of man coming in his kingdom.
