1 ஈஸ்²வரபுத்ரஸ்ய யீஸு²க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்ய ஸுஸம்’வாதா³ரம்ப⁴: |
The beginning of the Good News of Jesus Christ the Son of God.
2 ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நாம்’ க்³ரந்தே²ஷு லிபிரித்த²மாஸ்தே, பஸ்²ய ஸ்வகீயதூ³தந்து தவாக்³ரே ப்ரேஷயாம்யஹம்| க³த்வா த்வதீ³யபந்தா²நம்’ ஸ ஹி பரிஷ்கரிஷ்யதி|
As it is written in Isaiah the Prophet, "See, I am sending My messenger before Thee, Who will prepare Thy way";
3 "பரமேஸ²ஸ்ய பந்தா²நம்’ பரிஷ்குருத ஸர்வ்வத: | தஸ்ய ராஜபத²ஞ்சைவ ஸமாநம்’ குருதாது⁴நா| " இத்யேதத் ப்ராந்தரே வாக்யம்’ வத³த: கஸ்யசித்³ரவ: ||
"The voice of one crying aloud: 'In the Desert prepare a road for the Lord: Make His highways straight.'"
4 ஸஏவ யோஹந் ப்ராந்தரே மஜ்ஜிதவாந் ததா² பாபமார்ஜநநிமித்தம்’ மநோவ்யாவர்த்தகமஜ்ஜநஸ்ய கதா²ஞ்ச ப்ரசாரிதவாந்|
So John the Baptizer came, and was in the Desert proclaiming a baptism of the penitent for forgiveness of sins.
5 ததோ யிஹூதா³தே³ஸ²யிரூஸா²லம்நக³ரநிவாஸிந: ஸர்வ்வே லோகா ப³ஹி ர்பூ⁴த்வா தஸ்ய ஸமீபமாக³த்ய ஸ்வாநி ஸ்வாநி பாபாந்யங்கீ³க்ரு’த்ய யர்த்³த³நநத்³யாம்’ தேந மஜ்ஜிதா ப³பூ⁴வு: |
There went out to him people of all classes from Judaea, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem of all ranks, and were baptized by him in the river Jordan, making open confession of their sins.
6 அஸ்ய யோஹந: பரிதே⁴யாநி க்ரமேலகலோமஜாநி, தஸ்ய கடிப³ந்த⁴நம்’ சர்ம்மஜாதம், தஸ்ய ப⁴க்ஷ்யாணி ச ஸூ²ககீடா வந்யமதூ⁴நி சாஸந்|
As for John, his garment was of camel's hair, and he wore a loincloth of leather; and his food was locusts and wild honey.
7 ஸ ப்ரசாரயந் கத²யாஞ்சக்ரே, அஹம்’ நம்ரீபூ⁴ய யஸ்ய பாது³காப³ந்த⁴நம்’ மோசயிதுமபி ந யோக்³யோஸ்மி, தாத்³ரு’ஸோ² மத்தோ கு³ருதர ஏக: புருஷோ மத்பஸ்²சாதா³க³ச்ச²தி|
His announcement was, "There is One coming after me mightier than I--One whose sandal-strap I am unworthy to stoop down and unfasten.
8 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் ஜலே மஜ்ஜிதவாந் கிந்து ஸ பவித்ர ஆத்மாநி ஸம்’மஜ்ஜயிஷ்யதி|
I have baptized you with water, but He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."
9 அபரஞ்ச தஸ்மிந்நேவ காலே கா³லீல்ப்ரதே³ஸ²ஸ்ய நாஸரத்³க்³ராமாத்³ யீஸு²ராக³த்ய யோஹநா யர்த்³த³நநத்³யாம்’ மஜ்ஜிதோ(அ)பூ⁴த்|
At that time Jesus came from Nazareth in Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan;
10 ஸ ஜலாது³த்தி²தமாத்ரோ மேக⁴த்³வாரம்’ முக்தம்’ கபோதவத் ஸ்வஸ்யோபரி அவரோஹந்தமாத்மாநஞ்ச த்³ரு’ஷ்டவாந்|
and immediately on His coming up out of the water He saw an opening in the sky, and the Spirit like a dove coming down to Him;
11 த்வம்’ மம ப்ரிய: புத்ரஸ்த்வய்யேவ மமமஹாஸந்தோஷ இயமாகாஸீ²யா வாணீ ப³பூ⁴வ|
and a voice came from the sky, saying, "Thou art My Son dearly loved: in Thee is My delight."
12 தஸ்மிந் காலே ஆத்மா தம்’ ப்ராந்தரமத்⁴யம்’ நிநாய|
At once the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the Desert,
13 அத² ஸ சத்வாரிம்’ஸ²த்³தி³நாநி தஸ்மிந் ஸ்தா²நே வந்யபஸு²பி⁴: ஸஹ திஷ்ட²ந் ஸை²தாநா பரீக்ஷித: ; பஸ்²சாத் ஸ்வர்கீ³யதூ³தாஸ்தம்’ ஸிஷேவிரே|
where He remained for forty days, tempted by Satan; and He was among the wild beasts, but the angels waited upon Him.
14 அநந்தரம்’ யோஹநி ப³ந்த⁴நாலயே ப³த்³தே⁴ ஸதி யீஸு² ர்கா³லீல்ப்ரதே³ஸ²மாக³த்ய ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யஸ்ய ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ ப்ரசாரயந் கத²யாமாஸ,
Then, after John had been thrown into prison, Jesus came into Galilee proclaiming God's Good News.
15 கால: ஸம்பூர்ண ஈஸ்²வரராஜ்யஞ்ச ஸமீபமாக³தம்’; அதோஹேதோ ர்யூயம்’ மநாம்’ஸி வ்யாவர்த்தயத்⁴வம்’ ஸுஸம்’வாதே³ ச விஸ்²வாஸித|
"The time has fully come," He said, "and the Kingdom of God is close at hand: repent, and believe this Good News.
16 தத³நந்தரம்’ ஸ கா³லீலீயஸமுத்³ரஸ்ய தீரே க³ச்ச²ந் ஸி²மோந் தஸ்ய ப்⁴ராதா அந்த்³ரியநாமா ச இமௌ த்³வௌ ஜநௌ மத்ஸ்யதா⁴ரிணௌ ஸாக³ரமத்⁴யே ஜாலம்’ ப்ரக்ஷிபந்தௌ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா தாவவத³த்,
One day, passing along the shore of the Lake of Galilee, He saw Simon and Andrew, Simon's brother, throwing their nets in the Lake; for they were fisherman.
17 யுவாம்’ மம பஸ்²சாதா³க³ச்ச²தம்’, யுவாமஹம்’ மநுஷ்யதா⁴ரிணௌ கரிஷ்யாமி|
"Come and follow me," said Jesus, "and I will make you fishers for men."
18 ததஸ்தௌ தத்க்ஷணமேவ ஜாலாநி பரித்யஜ்ய தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத் ஜக்³மது: |
At once they left their nets and followed Him.
19 தத: பரம்’ தத்ஸ்தா²நாத் கிஞ்சித்³ தூ³ரம்’ க³த்வா ஸ ஸிவதீ³புத்ரயாகூப்³ தத்³ப்⁴ராத்ரு’யோஹந் ச இமௌ நௌகாயாம்’ ஜாலாநாம்’ ஜீர்ணமுத்³தா⁴ரயந்தௌ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா தாவாஹூயத்|
Going on a little further He saw James the son of Zabdi and his brother John: they also were in the boat mending the nets, and He immediately called them.
20 ததஸ்தௌ நௌகாயாம்’ வேதநபு⁴க்³பி⁴: ஸஹிதம்’ ஸ்வபிதரம்’ விஹாய தத்பஸ்²சாதீ³யது: |
They therefore left their father Zabdi in the boat with the hired men, and went and followed Him.
21 தத: பரம்’ கப²ர்நாஹூம்நாமகம்’ நக³ரமுபஸ்தா²ய ஸ விஸ்²ராமதி³வஸே ப⁴ஜநக்³ரஹம்’ ப்ரவிஸ்²ய ஸமுபதி³தே³ஸ²|
So they came to Capernaum, and on the next Sabbath He went to the synagogue and began to teach.
22 தஸ்யோபதே³ஸா²ல்லோகா ஆஸ்²சர்ய்யம்’ மேநிரே யத: ஸோத்⁴யாபகாஇவ நோபதி³ஸ²ந் ப்ரபா⁴வவாநிவ ப்ரோபதி³தே³ஸ²|
The people listened with amazement to His teaching--for there was authority about it: it was very different from that of the Scribes--
23 அபரஞ்ச தஸ்மிந் ப⁴ஜநக்³ரு’ஹே அபவித்ரபூ⁴தேந க்³ரஸ்த ஏகோ மாநுஷ ஆஸீத்| ஸ சீத்ஸ²ப்³த³ம்’ க்ரு’த்வா கத²யாஞ்சகே
when all at once, there in their synagogue, a man under the power of a foul spirit screamed out:
24 போ⁴ நாஸரதீய யீஸோ² த்வமஸ்மாந் த்யஜ, த்வயா ஸஹாஸ்மாகம்’ க: ஸம்ப³ந்த⁴: ? த்வம்’ கிமஸ்மாந் நாஸ²யிதும்’ ஸமாக³த: ? த்வமீஸ்²வரஸ்ய பவித்ரலோக இத்யஹம்’ ஜாநாமி|
"What have you to do with us, Jesus the Nazarene? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are--God's Holy One."
25 ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தம்’ தர்ஜயித்வா ஜகா³த³ தூஷ்ணீம்’ ப⁴வ இதோ ப³ஹிர்ப⁴வ ச|
But Jesus reprimanded him, saying, "Silence! come out of him."
26 தத: ஸோ(அ)பவித்ரபூ⁴தஸ்தம்’ ஸம்பீட்³ய அத்யுசைஸ்²சீத்க்ரு’த்ய நிர்ஜகா³ம|
So the foul spirit, after throwing the man into convulsions, came out of him with a loud cry.
27 தேநைவ ஸர்வ்வே சமத்க்ரு’த்ய பரஸ்பரம்’ கத²யாஞ்சக்ரிரே, அஹோ கிமித³ம்’? கீத்³ரு’ஸோ²(அ)யம்’ நவ்ய உபதே³ஸ²: ? அநேந ப்ரபா⁴வேநாபவித்ரபூ⁴தேஷ்வாஜ்ஞாபிதேஷு தே ததா³ஜ்ஞாநுவர்த்திநோ ப⁴வந்தி|
And all were amazed and awe-struck, so they began to ask one another, "What does this mean? Here is a new sort of teaching--and a tone of authority! And even to foul spirits he issues orders and they obey him!"
28 ததா³ தஸ்ய யஸோ² கா³லீலஸ்²சதுர்தி³க்ஸ்த²ஸர்வ்வதே³ஸா²ந் வ்யாப்நோத்|
And His fame spread at once everywhere in all that part of Galilee.
29 அபரஞ்ச தே ப⁴ஜநக்³ரு’ஹாத்³ ப³ஹி ர்பூ⁴த்வா யாகூப்³யோஹந்ப்⁴யாம்’ ஸஹ ஸி²மோந ஆந்த்³ரியஸ்ய ச நிவேஸ²நம்’ ப்ரவிவிஸு²: |
Then on leaving the synagogue they came at once, with James and John, to the house of Simon and Andrew.
30 ததா³ பிதரஸ்ய ஸ்²வஸ்²ரூர்ஜ்வரபீடி³தா ஸ²ய்யாயாமாஸ்த இதி தே தம்’ ஜ²டிதி விஜ்ஞாபயாஞ்சக்ரு: |
Now Simon's mother-in-law was ill in bed with a fever, and without delay they informed Him about her.
31 தத: ஸ ஆக³த்ய தஸ்யா ஹஸ்தம்’ த்⁴ரு’த்வா தாமுத³ஸ்தா²பயத்; ததை³வ தாம்’ ஜ்வரோ(அ)த்யாக்ஷீத் தத: பரம்’ ஸா தாந் ஸிஷேவே|
So He went to her, and taking her hand He raised her to her feet: the fever left her, and she began to wait upon them.
32 அதா²ஸ்தம்’ க³தே ரவௌ ஸந்த்⁴யாகாலே ஸதி லோகாஸ்தத்ஸமீபம்’ ஸர்வ்வாந் ரோகி³ணோ பூ⁴தத்⁴ரு’தாம்’ஸ்²ச ஸமாநிந்யு: |
When it was evening, after sunset people came bringing Him all who were sick and the demoniacs;
33 ஸர்வ்வே நாக³ரிகா லோகா த்³வாரி ஸம்’மிலிதாஸ்²ச|
and the whole town was assembled at the door.
34 தத: ஸ நாநாவித⁴ரோகி³ணோ ப³ஹூந் மநுஜாநரோகி³ணஸ்²சகார ததா² ப³ஹூந் பூ⁴தாந் த்யாஜயாஞ்சகார தாந் பூ⁴தாந் கிமபி வாக்யம்’ வக்தும்’ நிஷிஷேத⁴ ச யதோஹேதோஸ்தே தமஜாநந்|
Then He cured numbers of people who were ill with various diseases, and He drove out many demons; not allowing the demons to speak, because they knew who He was.
35 அபரஞ்ச ஸோ(அ)திப்ரத்யூஷே வஸ்துதஸ்து ராத்ரிஸே²ஷே ஸமுத்தா²ய ப³ஹிர்பூ⁴ய நிர்ஜநம்’ ஸ்தா²நம்’ க³த்வா தத்ர ப்ரார்த²யாஞ்சக்ரே|
In the morning He rose early, while it was still quite dark, and leaving the house He went away to a solitary place and there prayed.
36 அநந்தரம்’ ஸி²மோந் தத்ஸங்கி³நஸ்²ச தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத்³ க³தவந்த: |
And Simon and the others searched everywhere for Him.
37 தது³த்³தே³ஸ²ம்’ ப்ராப்ய தமவத³ந் ஸர்வ்வே லோகாஸ்த்வாம்’ ம்ரு’க³யந்தே|
When they found Him they said, "Every one is looking for you."
38 ததா³ ஸோ(அ)கத²யத் ஆக³ச்ச²த வயம்’ ஸமீபஸ்தா²நி நக³ராணி யாம: , யதோ(அ)ஹம்’ தத்ர கதா²ம்’ ப்ரசாரயிதும்’ ப³ஹிராக³மம்|
"Let us go elsewhere, to the neighbouring country towns," He replied, "that I may proclaim my Message there also; because for that purpose I came from God."
39 அத² ஸ தேஷாம்’ கா³லீல்ப்ரதே³ஸ²ஸ்ய ஸர்வ்வேஷு ப⁴ஜநக்³ரு’ஹேஷு கதா²: ப்ரசாரயாஞ்சக்ரே பூ⁴தாநத்யாஜயஞ்ச|
And He went through all Galilee, preaching in the synagogues and expelling the demons.
40 அநந்தரமேக: குஷ்டீ² ஸமாக³த்ய தத்ஸம்முகே² ஜாநுபாதம்’ விநயஞ்ச க்ரு’த்வா கதி²தவாந் யதி³ ப⁴வாந் இச்ச²தி தர்ஹி மாம்’ பரிஷ்கர்த்தும்’ ஸ²க்நோதி|
One day there came a leper to Jesus entreating Him, and pleading on his knees. "If you are willing," he said, "you are able to cleanse me."
41 தத: க்ரு’பாலு ர்யீஸு²: கரௌ ப்ரஸார்ய்ய தம்’ ஸ்பஷ்ட்வா கத²யாமாஸ
Moved with pity Jesus reached out His hand and touched him. "I am willing," He said; "be cleansed."
42 மமேச்சா² வித்³யதே த்வம்’ பரிஷ்க்ரு’தோ ப⁴வ| ஏதத்கதா²யா: கத²நமாத்ராத் ஸ குஷ்டீ² ரோகா³ந்முக்த: பரிஷ்க்ரு’தோ(அ)ப⁴வத்|
The leprosy at once left him, and he was cleansed.
43 ததா³ ஸ தம்’ விஸ்ரு’ஜந் கா³ட⁴மாதி³ஸ்²ய ஜகா³த³
Jesus at once sent him away, strictly charging him,
44 ஸாவதா⁴நோ ப⁴வ கதா²மிமாம்’ கமபி மா வத³; ஸ்வாத்மாநம்’ யாஜகம்’ த³ர்ஸ²ய, லோகேப்⁴ய: ஸ்வபரிஷ்க்ரு’தே: ப்ரமாணதா³நாய மூஸாநிர்ணீதம்’ யத்³தா³நம்’ தது³த்ஸ்ரு’ஜஸ்வ ச|
and saying, "Be careful not to tell any one, but go and show yourself to the Priest, and for your purification present the offerings that Moses appointed as evidence for them."
45 கிந்து ஸ க³த்வா தத் கர்ம்ம இத்த²ம்’ விஸ்தார்ய்ய ப்ரசாரயிதும்’ ப்ராரேபே⁴ தேநைவ யீஸு²: புந: ஸப்ரகாஸ²ம்’ நக³ரம்’ ப்ரவேஷ்டும்’ நாஸ²க்நோத் ததோஹேதோர்ப³ஹி: காநநஸ்தா²நே தஸ்யௌ; ததா²பி சதுர்த்³தி³க்³ப்⁴யோ லோகாஸ்தஸ்ய ஸமீபமாயயு: |
But the man, when he went out, began to tell every one and to publish the matter abroad, so that it was no longer possible for Jesus to go openly into any town; but He had to remain outside in unfrequented places, where people came to Him from all parts.
