யோஹந: 8
1 ப்ரத்யூஷே யீஸு²: பநர்மந்தி³ரம் ஆக³ச்ச²த்
But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.
2 தத: ஸர்வ்வேஷு லோகேஷு தஸ்ய ஸமீப ஆக³தேஷு ஸ உபவிஸ்²ய தாந் உபதே³ஷ்டும் ஆரப⁴த|
Early in the morning he again went to the temple courts. All the people came, and he sat down and taught them.
3 ததா³ அத்⁴யாபகா: பி²ரூஸி²நஞ்ச வ்யபி⁴சாரகர்ம்மணி த்⁴ரு’தம்’ ஸ்த்ரியமேகாம் ஆநிய ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யே ஸ்தா²பயித்வா வ்யாஹரந்
Then the scribes and the Pharisees brought him a woman who had been caught in adultery. Making her stand before them all,
4 ஹே கு³ரோ யோஷிதம் இமாம்’ வ்யபி⁴சாரகர்ம்ம குர்வ்வாணாம்’ லோகா த்⁴ரு’தவந்த: |
they said to Jesus, testing him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the very act of committing adultery.
5 ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²லோகா: பாஷாணாகா⁴தேந ஹந்தவ்யா இதி விதி⁴ர்மூஸாவ்யவஸ்தா²க்³ரந்தே² லிகி²தோஸ்தி கிந்து ப⁴வாந் கிமாதி³ஸ²தி?
In the law, Moses commanded us that such women should be stoned; what then do yoʋ say?”
6 தே தமபவதி³தும்’ பரீக்ஷாபி⁴ப்ராயேண வாக்யமித³ம் அப்ரு’ச்ச²ந் கிந்து ஸ ப்ரஹ்வீபூ⁴ய பூ⁴மாவங்க³ல்யா லேகி²தும் ஆரப⁴த|
(They said this to test him, so that they might have something to accuse him of.) But Jesus stooped down and wrote with his finger on the ground, taking no notice.
7 ததஸ்தை: புந: புந: ப்ரு’ஷ்ட உத்தா²ய கதி²தவாந் யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யே யோ ஜநோ நிரபராதீ⁴ ஸஏவ ப்ரத²மம் ஏநாம்’ பாஷாணேநாஹந்து|
When they continued asking him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him among you who is without sin throw the first stone at her.”
8 பஸ்²சாத் ஸ புநஸ்²ச ப்ரஹ்வீபூ⁴ய பூ⁴மௌ லேகி²தும் ஆரப⁴த|
And again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.
9 தாம்’ கத²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தே ஸ்வஸ்வமநஸி ப்ரபோ³த⁴ம்’ ப்ராப்ய ஜ்யேஷ்டா²நுக்ரமம்’ ஏகைகஸ²: ஸர்வ்வே ப³ஹிரக³ச்ச²ந் ததோ யீஸு²ரேகாகீ தயக்த்தோப⁴வத் மத்⁴யஸ்தா²நே த³ண்டா³யமாநா ஸா யோஷா ச ஸ்தி²தா|
When they heard this, they were convicted by their own consciences and began to go away one by one, starting with the older men. So Jesus was left alone, with the woman there before him.
10 தத்பஸ்²சாத்³ யீஸு²ருத்தா²ய தாம்’ வநிதாம்’ விநா கமப்யபரம்’ ந விலோக்ய ப்ரு’ஷ்டவாந் ஹே வாமே தவாபவாத³கா: குத்ர? கோபி த்வாம்’ கிம்’ ந த³ண்ட³யதி?
Then Jesus stood up and saw no one but the woman. So he said to her, “Where are yoʋr accusers? Has no one condemned yoʋ?”
11 ஸாவத³த் ஹே மஹேச்ச² கோபி ந ததா³ யீஸு²ரவோசத் நாஹமபி த³ண்ட³யாமி யாஹி புந: பாபம்’ மாகார்ஷீ: |
She said, “No one, Lord.” Jesus said, “Neither do I pass judgment on yoʋ; go and sin no more.”
12 ததோ யீஸு²: புநரபி லோகேப்⁴ய இத்த²ம்’ கத²யிதும் ஆரப⁴த ஜக³தோஹம்’ ஜ்யோதி: ஸ்வரூபோ ய: கஸ்²சிந் மத்பஸ்²சாத³ க³ச்ச²தி ஸ திமிரே ந ப்⁴ரமித்வா ஜீவநரூபாம்’ தீ³ப்திம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி|
Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will certainly not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
13 தத: பி²ரூஸி²நோ(அ)வாதி³ஷுஸ்த்வம்’ ஸ்வார்தே² ஸ்வயம்’ ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³தா³ஸி தஸ்மாத் தவ ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ க்³ராஹ்யம்’ ந ப⁴வதி|
So the Pharisees said to him, “Yoʋ are testifying about yoʋrself, so yoʋr testimony is not valid.”
14 ததா³ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யுதி³தவாந் யத்³யபி ஸ்வார்தே²(அ)ஹம்’ ஸ்வயம்’ ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³தா³மி ததா²பி மத் ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ க்³ராஹ்யம்’ யஸ்மாத்³ அஹம்’ குத ஆக³தோஸ்மி க்வ யாமி ச தத³ஹம்’ ஜாநாமி கிந்து குத ஆக³தோஸ்மி குத்ர க³ச்சா²மி ச தத்³ யூயம்’ ந ஜாநீத²|
Jesus answered them, “Even if I testify about myself, my testimony is valid, for I know where I came from and where I am going, but you do not know where I come from or where I am going.
15 யூயம்’ லௌகிகம்’ விசாரயத² நாஹம்’ கிமபி விசாரயாமி|
You judge according to the flesh, but I judge no one.
16 கிந்து யதி³ விசாரயாமி தர்ஹி மம விசாரோ க்³ரஹீதவ்யோ யதோஹம் ஏகாகீ நாஸ்மி ப்ரேரயிதா பிதா மயா ஸஹ வித்³யதே|
Yet even if I do judge, my judgment is valid; for I am not alone, but I am with the Father who sent me.
17 த்³வயோ ர்ஜநயோ: ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ க்³ரஹணீயம்’ ப⁴வதீதி யுஷ்மாகம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²க்³ரந்தே² லிகி²தமஸ்தி|
In your own law it is written that the testimony of two men is valid.
18 அஹம்’ ஸ்வார்தே² ஸ்வயம்’ ஸாக்ஷித்வம்’ த³தா³மி யஸ்²ச மம தாதோ மாம்’ ப்ரேரிதவாந் ஸோபி மத³ர்தே² ஸாக்ஷ்யம்’ த³தா³தி|
I testify about myself, and the Father who sent me also testifies about me.”
19 ததா³ தே(அ)ப்ரு’ச்ச²ந் தவ தாத: குத்ர? ததோ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த்³ யூயம்’ மாம்’ ந ஜாநீத² மத்பிதரஞ்ச ந ஜாநீத² யதி³ மாம் அக்ஷாஸ்யத தர்ஹி மம தாதமப்யக்ஷாஸ்யத|
Then they said to him, “Where is yoʋr father?” Jesus answered, “You neither know me nor my Father. If you knew me, you would know my Father as well.”
20 யீஸு² ர்மந்தி³ர உபதி³ஸ்²ய ப⁴ண்டா³கா³ரே கதா² ஏதா அகத²யத் ததா²பி தம்’ ப்ரதி கோபி கரம்’ நோத³தோலயத்|
(Jesus spoke these words in the treasury as he taught in the temple courts. But no one arrested him, because his hour had not yet come.)
21 தத: பரம்’ யீஸு²: புநருதி³தவாந் அது⁴நாஹம்’ க³ச்சா²மி யூயம்’ மாம்’ க³வேஷயிஷ்யத² கிந்து நிஜை: பாபை ர்மரிஷ்யத² யத் ஸ்தா²நம் அஹம்’ யாஸ்யாமி தத் ஸ்தா²நம் யூயம்’ யாதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யத²|
Then Jesus said to them again, “I am going away, and you will seek me, but you will die in your sin. Where I am going, you cannot come.”
22 ததா³ யிஹூதீ³யா: ப்ராவோசந் கிமயம் ஆத்மகா⁴தம்’ கரிஷ்யதி? யதோ யத் ஸ்தா²நம் அஹம்’ யாஸ்யாமி தத் ஸ்தா²நம் யூயம்’ யாதும்’ ந ஸ²க்ஷ்யத² இதி வாக்யம்’ ப்³ரவீதி|
So the Jews said, “Is he going to kill himself? Is that what he means by saying, ‘Where I am going, you cannot come’?”
23 ததோ யீஸு²ஸ்தேப்⁴ய: கதி²தவாந் யூயம் அத⁴: ஸ்தா²நீயா லோகா அஹம் ஊர்த்³வ்வஸ்தா²நீய: யூயம் ஏதஜ்ஜக³த்ஸம்ப³ந்தீ⁴யா அஹம் ஏதஜ்ஜக³த்ஸம்ப³ந்தீ⁴யோ ந|
He said to them, “You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world.
24 தஸ்மாத் கதி²தவாந் யூயம்’ நிஜை: பாபை ர்மரிஷ்யத² யதோஹம்’ ஸ புமாந் இதி யதி³ ந விஸ்²வஸித² தர்ஹி நிஜை: பாபை ர்மரிஷ்யத²|
Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins, for if you do not believe that I am he, you will die in your sins.”
25 ததா³ தே (அ)ப்ரு’ச்ச²ந் கஸ்த்வம்’? ததோ யீஸு²: கதி²தவாந் யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ யஸ்ய ப்ரஸ்தாவம் ஆ ப்ரத²மாத் கரோமி ஸஏவ புருஷோஹம்’|
They said to him, “Who are yoʋ?” Jesus said to them, “Exactly what I have been saying to you from the beginning.
26 யுஷ்மாஸு மயா ப³ஹுவாக்யம்’ வக்த்தவ்யம்’ விசாரயிதவ்யஞ்ச கிந்து மத்ப்ரேரயிதா ஸத்யவாதீ³ தஸ்ய ஸமீபே யத³ஹம்’ ஸ்²ருதவாந் ததே³வ ஜக³தே கத²யாமி|
I have many things to say about you and to judge, but he who sent me is true, and I tell the world what I have heard from him.”
27 கிந்து ஸ ஜநகே வாக்யமித³ம்’ ப்ரோக்த்தவாந் இதி தே நாபு³த்⁴யந்த|
(They did not know that he was speaking to them about the Father.)
28 ததோ யீஸு²ரகத²யத்³ யதா³ மநுஷ்யபுத்ரம் ஊர்த்³வ்வ உத்தா²பயிஷ்யத² ததா³ஹம்’ ஸ புமாந் கேவல: ஸ்வயம்’ கிமபி கர்ம்ம ந கரோமி கிந்து தாதோ யதா² ஸி²க்ஷயதி தத³நுஸாரேண வாக்யமித³ம்’ வதா³மீதி ச யூயம்’ ஜ்ஞாதும்’ ஸ²க்ஷ்யத²|
So Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own authority, but I speak these things just as my Father taught me.
29 மத்ப்ரேரயிதா பிதா மாம் ஏகாகிநம்’ ந த்யஜதி ஸ மயா ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ திஷ்ட²தி யதோஹம்’ தத³பி⁴மதம்’ கர்ம்ம ஸதா³ கரோமி|
He who sent me is with me. The Father has not left me alone, for I always do what pleases him.”
30 ததா³ தஸ்யைதாநி வாக்யாநி ஸ்²ருத்வா ப³ஹுவஸ்தாஸ்மிந் வ்யஸ்²வஸந்|
As he was saying these things, many believed in him.
31 யே யிஹூதீ³யா வ்யஸ்²வஸந் யீஸு²ஸ்தேப்⁴யோ(அ)கத²யத்
Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you abide in my word, you are truly my disciples.
32 மம வாக்யே யதி³ யூயம் ஆஸ்தா²ம்’ குருத² தர்ஹி மம ஸி²ஷ்யா பூ⁴த்வா ஸத்யத்வம்’ ஜ்ஞாஸ்யத² தத: ஸத்யதயா யுஷ்மாகம்’ மோக்ஷோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 ததா³ தே ப்ரத்யவாதி³ஷு: வயம் இப்³ராஹீமோ வம்’ஸ²: கதா³பி கஸ்யாபி தா³ஸா ந ஜாதாஸ்தர்ஹி யுஷ்மாகம்’ முக்த்தி ர்ப⁴விஷ்யதீதி வாக்யம்’ கத²ம்’ ப்³ரவீஷி?
They answered him, “We are descendants of Abraham, and we have never been enslaved to anyone. How then can yoʋ say, ‘You will be set free’?”
34 ததா³ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவத³த்³ யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²தரம்’ வதா³மி ய: பாபம்’ கரோதி ஸ பாபஸ்ய தா³ஸ: |
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who commits sin is a slave of sin.
The slave does not abide in the house forever; the son abides forever. (aiōn g165)
36 அத: புத்ரோ யதி³ யுஷ்மாந் மோசயதி தர்ஹி நிதாந்தமேவ முக்த்தா ப⁴விஷ்யத²|
So if the son sets you free, you will be free indeed.
37 யுயம் இப்³ராஹீமோ வம்’ஸ² இத்யஹம்’ ஜாநாமி கிந்து மம கதா² யுஷ்மாகம் அந்த: கரணேஷு ஸ்தா²நம்’ ந ப்ராப்நுவந்தி தஸ்மாத்³தே⁴தோ ர்மாம்’ ஹந்தும் ஈஹத்⁴வே|
I know that you are Abraham's descendants, but you are seeking to kill me because your hearts have no room for my word.
38 அஹம்’ ஸ்வபிது: ஸமீபே யத³பஸ்²யம்’ ததே³வ கத²யாமி ததா² யூயமபி ஸ்வபிது: ஸமீபே யத³பஸ்²யத ததே³வ குருத்⁴வே|
I speak of what I have seen with my Father; so you also are doing what you have seen with your father.”
39 ததா³ தே ப்ரத்யவோசந் இப்³ராஹீம் அஸ்மாகம்’ பிதா ததோ யீஸு²ரகத²யத்³ யதி³ யூயம் இப்³ராஹீம: ஸந்தாநா அப⁴விஷ்யத தர்ஹி இப்³ராஹீம ஆசாரணவத்³ ஆசரிஷ்யத|
They answered him, “Our father is Abraham.” Jesus said to them, “If you were children of Abraham, you would be doing the works of Abraham.
40 ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய முகா²த் ஸத்யம்’ வாக்யம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா யுஷ்மாந் ஜ்ஞாபயாமி யோஹம்’ தம்’ மாம்’ ஹந்தும்’ சேஷ்டத்⁴வே இப்³ராஹீம் ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ கர்ம்ம ந சகார|
But now you are seeking to kill me, a man who has spoken to you the truth I heard from God. Abraham did not do such a thing.
41 யூயம்’ ஸ்வஸ்வபிது: கர்ம்மாணி குருத² ததா³ தைருக்த்தம்’ ந வயம்’ ஜாரஜாதா அஸ்மாகம் ஏகஏவ பிதாஸ்தி ஸ ஏவேஸ்²வர:
You are doing the works of your father.” They said to him, “We were not born of fornication. We have one Father—God.”
42 ததோ யீஸு²நா கதி²தம் ஈஸ்²வரோ யதி³ யுஷ்மாகம்’ தாதோப⁴விஷ்யத் தர்ஹி யூயம்’ மயி ப்ரேமாகரிஷ்யத யதோஹம் ஈஸ்²வராந்நிர்க³த்யாக³தோஸ்மி ஸ்வதோ நாக³தோஹம்’ ஸ மாம்’ ப்ராஹிணோத்|
Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I have come here from God. I have not come of my own accord, but he sent me.
43 யூயம்’ மம வாக்யமித³ம்’ ந பு³த்⁴யத்⁴வே குத: ? யதோ யூயம்’ மமோபதே³ஸ²ம்’ ஸோடு⁴ம்’ ந ஸ²க்நுத²|
Why do you not understand what I am saying? It is because you cannot bear to accept my word.
44 யூயம்’ ஸை²தாந் பிது: ஸந்தாநா ஏதஸ்மாத்³ யுஷ்மாகம்’ பிதுரபி⁴லாஷம்’ பூரயத² ஸ ஆ ப்ரத²மாத் நரகா⁴தீ தத³ந்த: ஸத்யத்வஸ்ய லேஸோ²பி நாஸ்தி காரணாத³த: ஸ ஸத்யதாயாம்’ நாதிஷ்ட²த் ஸ யதா³ ம்ரு’ஷா கத²யதி ததா³ நிஜஸ்வபா⁴வாநுஸாரேணைவ கத²யதி யதோ ஸ ம்ரு’ஷாபா⁴ஷீ ம்ரு’ஷோத்பாத³கஸ்²ச|
You belong to your father the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks lies, he speaks from his own character, because he is a liar and the father of lies.
45 அஹம்’ தத்²யவாக்யம்’ வதா³மி காரணாத³ஸ்மாத்³ யூயம்’ மாம்’ ந ப்ரதீத²|
But because I speak the truth, you do not believe me.
46 மயி பாபமஸ்தீதி ப்ரமாணம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ கோ தா³தும்’ ஸ²க்நோதி? யத்³யஹம்’ தத்²யவாக்யம்’ வதா³மி தர்ஹி குதோ மாம்’ ந ப்ரதித²?
Which one of you convicts me of sin? If I am telling the truth, why do you not believe me?
47 ய: கஸ்²சந ஈஸ்²வரீயோ லோக: ஸ ஈஸ்²வரீயகதா²யாம்’ மநோ நித⁴த்தே யூயம் ஈஸ்²வரீயலோகா ந ப⁴வத² தந்நிதா³நாத் தத்ர ந மநாம்’ஸி நித⁴த்³வே|
Whoever belongs to God hears the words of God. The reason you do not hear them is because you do not belong to God.”
48 ததா³ யிஹூதீ³யா: ப்ரத்யவாதி³ஷு: த்வமேக: ஸோ²மிரோணீயோ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்தஸ்²ச வயம்’ கிமித³ம்’ ப⁴த்³ரம்’ நாவாதி³ஷ்ம?
The Jews answered him, “Do we not rightly say that yoʋ are a Samaritan and have a demon?”
49 ததோ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த் நாஹம்’ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்த: கிந்து நிஜதாதம்’ ஸம்மந்யே தஸ்மாத்³ யூயம்’ மாம் அபமந்யத்⁴வே|
Jesus answered, “I do not have a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me.
50 அஹம்’ ஸ்வஸுக்²யாதிம்’ ந சேஷ்டே கிந்து சேஷ்டிதா விசாரயிதா சாபர ஏக ஆஸ்தே|
I do not seek my own glory; there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.
51 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மப்⁴யம் அதீவ யதா²ர்த²ம்’ கத²யாமி யோ நரோ மதீ³யம்’ வாசம்’ மந்யதே ஸ கதா³சந நித⁴நம்’ ந த்³ரக்ஷ்யதி| (aiōn g165)
Truly, truly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word, he will certainly never see death.” (aiōn g165)
52 யிஹூதீ³யாஸ்தமவத³ந் த்வம்’ பூ⁴தக்³ரஸ்த இதீதா³நீம் அவைஷ்ம| இப்³ராஹீம் ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நஞ்ச ஸர்வ்வே ம்ரு’தா: கிந்து த்வம்’ பா⁴ஷஸே யோ நரோ மம பா⁴ரதீம்’ க்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி ஸ ஜாது நிதா⁴நாஸ்வாத³ம்’ ந லப்ஸ்யதே| (aiōn g165)
The Jews said to him, “Now we know that yoʋ have a demon. Abraham died, and so did the prophets, yet yoʋ say, ‘If anyone keeps my word, he will certainly never taste death.’ (aiōn g165)
53 தர்ஹி த்வம்’ கிம் அஸ்மாகம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷாத்³ இப்³ராஹீமோபி மஹாந்? யஸ்மாத் ஸோபி ம்ரு’த: ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நோபி ம்ரு’தா: த்வம்’ ஸ்வம்’ கம்’ புமாம்’ஸம்’ மநுஷே?
Are yoʋ greater than our father Abraham, who died? The prophets also died. Who do yoʋ make yoʋrself out to be?”
54 யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவோசத்³ யத்³யஹம்’ ஸ்வம்’ ஸ்வயம்’ ஸம்மந்யே தர்ஹி மம தத் ஸம்மநநம்’ கிமபி ந கிந்து மம தாதோ யம்’ யூயம்’ ஸ்வீயம் ஈஸ்²வரம்’ பா⁴ஷத்⁴வே ஸஏவ மாம்’ ஸம்மநுதே|
Jesus answered, “If I glorify myself, my glory is nothing. It is my Father who glorifies me, of whom you say, ‘He is our God.’
55 யூயம்’ தம்’ நாவக³ச்ச²த² கிந்த்வஹம்’ தமவக³ச்சா²மி தம்’ நாவக³ச்சா²மீதி வாக்யம்’ யதி³ வதா³மி தர்ஹி யூயமிவ ம்ரு’ஷாபா⁴ஷீ ப⁴வாமி கிந்த்வஹம்’ தமவக³ச்சா²மி ததா³க்ஷாமபி க்³ரு’ஹ்லாமி|
You do not know him, but I know him. If I were to say that I do not know him, I would be a liar like you. But I do know him, and I keep his word.
56 யுஷ்மாகம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷ இப்³ராஹீம் மம ஸமயம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும் அதீவாவாஞ்ச²த் தந்நிரீக்ஷ்யாநந்த³ச்ச|
Your father Abraham was glad that he would see my day. He saw it and rejoiced.”
57 ததா³ யிஹூதீ³யா அப்ரு’ச்ச²ந் தவ வய: பஞ்சாஸ²த்³வத்ஸரா ந த்வம்’ கிம் இப்³ராஹீமம் அத்³ராக்ஷீ: ?
Then the Jews said to him, “Yoʋ are not yet fifty years old, and yoʋ have seen Abraham?”
58 யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த்³ யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²தரம்’ வதா³மி இப்³ராஹீமோ ஜந்மந: பூர்வ்வகாலமாரப்⁴யாஹம்’ வித்³யே|
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.”
59 ததா³ தே பாஷாணாந் உத்தோல்ய தமாஹந்தும் உத³யச்ச²ந் கிந்து யீஸு² ர்கு³ப்தோ மந்திராத்³ ப³ஹிர்க³த்ய தேஷாம்’ மத்⁴யேந ப்ரஸ்தி²தவாந்|
So they picked up stones to throw at him, but Jesus hid himself and went out from the temple grounds. And passing through the crowd, he walked away.
