யோஹந: 6
1 தத: பரம்’ யீஸு² ர்கா³லீல் ப்ரதே³ஸீ²யஸ்ய திவிரியாநாம்ந: ஸிந்தோ⁴: பாரம்’ க³தவாந்|
After this Jesus went away to the other side of the Sea of Galilee (that is, the Sea of Tiberias).
2 ததோ வ்யாதி⁴மல்லோகஸ்வாஸ்த்²யகரணரூபாணி தஸ்யாஸ்²சர்ய்யாணி கர்ம்மாணி த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ப³ஹவோ ஜநாஸ்தத்பஸ்²சாத்³ அக³ச்ச²ந்|
A large crowd was following him because they saw the miraculous signs he was performing on the sick.
3 ததோ யீஸு²: பர்வ்வதமாருஹ்ய தத்ர ஸி²ஷ்யை: ஸாகம்|
So Jesus went up on the mountain and sat there with his disciples.
4 தஸ்மிந் ஸமய நிஸ்தாரோத்ஸவநாம்நி யிஹூதீ³யாநாம உத்ஸவ உபஸ்தி²தே
(Now the Jewish feast of the Passover was near.)
5 யீஸு² ர்நேத்ரே உத்தோல்ய ப³ஹுலோகாந் ஸ்வஸமீபாக³தாந் விலோக்ய பி²லிபம்’ ப்ரு’ஷ்டவாந் ஏதேஷாம்’ போ⁴ஜநாய போ⁴ஜத்³ரவ்யாணி வயம்’ குத்ர க்ரேதும்’ ஸ²க்ரும: ?
When Jesus lifted up his eyes and saw that a large crowd was coming to him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread so that these people may eat?”
6 வாக்யமித³ம்’ தஸ்ய பரீக்ஷார்த²ம் அவாதீ³த் கிந்து யத் கரிஷ்யதி தத் ஸ்வயம் அஜாநாத்|
(He said this to test him, for he himself knew what he was about to do.)
7 பி²லிப: ப்ரத்யவோசத் ஏதேஷாம் ஏகைகோ யத்³யல்பம் அல்பம்’ ப்ராப்நோதி தர்ஹி முத்³ராபாத³த்³விஸ²தேந க்ரீதபூபா அபி ந்யூநா ப⁴விஷ்யந்தி|
Philip answered him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread would not be sufficient for each of them to receive a little portion.”
8 ஸி²மோந் பிதரஸ்ய ப்⁴ராதா ஆந்த்³ரியாக்²ய: ஸி²ஷ்யாணாமேகோ வ்யாஹ்ரு’தவாந்
Then one of his disciples, Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, said to him,
9 அத்ர கஸ்யசித்³ பா³லகஸ்ய ஸமீபே பஞ்ச யாவபூபா: க்ஷுத்³ரமத்ஸ்யத்³வயஞ்ச ஸந்தி கிந்து லோகாநாம்’ ஏதாவாதாம்’ மத்⁴யே தை: கிம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி?
“There is a little boy here who has five barley loaves and two fish, but what good are they for so many people?”
10 பஸ்²சாத்³ யீஸு²ரவத³த் லோகாநுபவேஸ²யத தத்ர ப³ஹுயவஸஸத்த்வாத் பஞ்சஸஹஸ்த்ரேப்⁴யோ ந்யூநா அதி⁴கா வா புருஷா பூ⁴ம்யாம் உபாவிஸ²ந்|
Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” (Now there was a lot of grass in that place.) So the men sat down, about five thousand in number.
11 ததோ யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் பூபாநாதா³ய ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய கு³ணாந் கீர்த்தயித்வா ஸி²ஷ்யேஷு ஸமார்பயத் ததஸ்தே தேப்⁴ய உபவிஷ்டலோகேப்⁴ய: பூபாந் யதே²ஷ்டமத்ஸ்யஞ்ச ப்ராது³: |
Then Jesus took the loaves, and after giving thanks, he distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples distributed them to those who were seated. He did the same with the fish, and the people ate as much as they wanted.
12 தேஷு த்ரு’ப்தேஷு ஸ தாநவோசத்³ ஏதேஷாம்’ கிஞ்சித³பி யதா² நாபசீயதே ததா² ஸர்வ்வாண்யவஸி²ஷ்டாநி ஸம்’க்³ரு’ஹ்லீத|
When they were full, Jesus said to his disciples, “Gather together the pieces that are left over so that nothing is wasted.”
13 தத: ஸர்வ்வேஷாம்’ போ⁴ஜநாத் பரம்’ தே தேஷாம்’ பஞ்சாநாம்’ யாவபூபாநாம்’ அவஸி²ஷ்டாந்யகி²லாநி ஸம்’க்³ரு’ஹ்ய த்³வாத³ஸ²ட³ல்லகாந் அபூரயந்|
So they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the broken pieces from the five barley loaves that were left over by those who had eaten.
14 அபரம்’ யீஸோ²ரேதாத்³ரு’ஸீ²ம் ஆஸ்²சர்ய்யக்ரியாம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா லோகா மிதோ² வக்துமாரேபி⁴ரே ஜக³தி யஸ்யாக³மநம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி ஸ ஏவாயம் அவஸ்²யம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வக்த்தா|
When the people saw the sign that Jesus had done, they said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
15 அதஏவ லோகா ஆக³த்ய தமாக்ரம்ய ராஜாநம்’ கரிஷ்யந்தி யீஸு²ஸ்தேஷாம் ஈத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ மாநஸம்’ விஜ்ஞாய புநஸ்²ச பர்வ்வதம் ஏகாகீ க³தவாந்|
So Jesus, knowing that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, withdrew to the mountain by himself.
16 ஸாயம்’கால உபஸ்தி²தே ஸி²ஷ்யா ஜலதி⁴தடம்’ வ்ரஜித்வா நாவமாருஹ்ய நக³ரதி³ஸி² ஸிந்தௌ⁴ வாஹயித்வாக³மந்|
When evening came, his disciples went down to the sea,
17 தஸ்மிந் ஸமயே திமிர உபாதிஷ்ட²த் கிந்து யீஷுஸ்தேஷாம்’ ஸமீபம்’ நாக³ச்ச²த்|
and after getting into the boat, they started going across the sea to Capernaum. Darkness had already set in, but Jesus had not come to them.
18 ததா³ ப்ரப³லபவநவஹநாத் ஸாக³ரே மஹாதரங்கோ³ ப⁴விதும் ஆரேபே⁴|
Then the sea became rough because a strong wind was blowing.
19 ததஸ்தே வாஹயித்வா த்³வித்ராந் க்ரோஸா²ந் க³தா: பஸ்²சாத்³ யீஸு²ம்’ ஜலதே⁴ருபரி பத்³ப்⁴யாம்’ வ்ரஜந்தம்’ நௌகாந்திகம் ஆக³ச்ச²ந்தம்’ விலோக்ய த்ராஸயுக்தா அப⁴வந்
When they had rowed about three or four miles, they saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the sea, and they were afraid.
20 கிந்து ஸ தாநுக்த்தவாந் அயமஹம்’ மா பை⁴ஷ்ட|
But he said to them, “It is I; do not be afraid.”
21 ததா³ தே தம்’ ஸ்வைரம்’ நாவி க்³ரு’ஹீதவந்த: ததா³ தத்க்ஷணாத்³ உத்³தி³ஷ்டஸ்தா²நே நௌருபாஸ்தா²த்|
Then they were willing to receive him into the boat, and immediately the boat reached the land where they were heading.
22 யயா நாவா ஸி²ஷ்யா அக³ச்ச²ந் தத³ந்யா காபி நௌகா தஸ்மிந் ஸ்தா²நே நாஸீத் ததோ யீஸு²: ஸி²ஷ்யை: ஸாகம்’ நாக³மத் கேவலா: ஸி²ஷ்யா அக³மந் ஏதத் பாரஸ்தா² லோகா ஜ்ஞாதவந்த: |
On the next day the crowd that had stayed on the other side of the sea realized that there had been no other boat there except the one Jesus' disciples had gotten into, and that Jesus himself had not gotten into the boat with his disciples, but that his disciples had gone away alone.
23 கிந்து தத: பரம்’ ப்ரபு⁴ ர்யத்ர ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய கு³ணாந் அநுகீர்த்த்ய லோகாந் பூபாந் அபோ⁴ஜயத் தத்ஸ்தா²நஸ்ய ஸமீபஸ்த²திவிரியாயா அபராஸ்தரணய ஆக³மந்|
Then other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.
24 யீஸு²ஸ்தத்ர நாஸ்தி ஸி²ஷ்யா அபி தத்ர நா ஸந்தி லோகா இதி விஜ்ஞாய யீஸு²ம்’ க³வேஷயிதும்’ தரணிபி⁴: கப²ர்நாஹூம் புரம்’ க³தா: |
So when the crowd saw that neither Jesus nor his disciples were there, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 ததஸ்தே ஸரித்பதே: பாரே தம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் ப்ராப்ய ப்ராவோசந் ஹே கு³ரோ ப⁴வாந் அத்ர ஸ்தா²நே கதா³க³மத்?
When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did yoʋ get here?”
26 ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த்³ யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²தரம்’ வதா³மி ஆஸ்²சர்ய்யகர்ம்மத³ர்ஸ²நாத்³தே⁴தோ ர்ந கிந்து பூபபோ⁴ஜநாத் தேந த்ரு’ப்தத்வாஞ்ச மாம்’ க³வேஷயத²|
Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me not because you saw signs, but because you ate the loaves and were filled.
27 க்ஷயணீயப⁴க்ஷ்யார்த²ம்’ மா ஸ்²ராமிஷ்ட கிந்த்வந்தாயுர்ப⁴க்ஷ்யார்த²ம்’ ஸ்²ராம்யத, தஸ்மாத் தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ மநுஜபுத்ரோ யுஷ்மாப்⁴யம்’ தா³ஸ்யதி; தஸ்மிந் தாத ஈஸ்²வர: ப்ரமாணம்’ ப்ராதா³த்| (aiōnios g166)
Do not work for food that perishes, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” (aiōnios g166)
28 ததா³ தே(அ)ப்ரு’ச்ச²ந் ஈஸ்²வராபி⁴மதம்’ கர்ம்ம கர்த்தும் அஸ்மாபி⁴: கிம்’ கர்த்தவ்யம்’?
Then they said to him, “What must we do to do the works of God?”
29 ததோ யீஸு²ரவத³த்³ ஈஸ்²வரோ யம்’ ப்ரைரயத் தஸ்மிந் விஸ்²வஸநம் ஈஸ்²வராபி⁴மதம்’ கர்ம்ம|
Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in the one he has sent.”
30 ததா³ தே வ்யாஹரந் ப⁴வதா கிம்’ லக்ஷணம்’ த³ர்ஸி²தம்’ யத்³த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வா ப⁴வதி விஸ்²வஸிஷ்யாம: ? த்வயா கிம்’ கர்ம்ம க்ரு’தம்’?
So they said to him, “What sign then are yoʋ going to perform so that we may see it and believe yoʋ? What will yoʋ do?
31 அஸ்மாகம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷா மஹாப்ராந்தரே மாந்நாம்’ போ⁴க்த்தும்’ ப்ராபு: யதா² லிபிராஸ்தே| ஸ்வர்கீ³யாணி து ப⁴க்ஷ்யாணி ப்ரத³தௌ³ பரமேஸ்²வர: |
Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’”
32 ததா³ யீஸு²ரவத³த்³ அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாநதியதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி மூஸா யுஷ்மாப்⁴யம்’ ஸ்வர்கீ³யம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ நாதா³த் கிந்து மம பிதா யுஷ்மாப்⁴யம்’ ஸ்வர்கீ³யம்’ பரமம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ த³தா³தி|
Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
33 ய: ஸ்வர்கா³த³வருஹ்ய ஜக³தே ஜீவநம்’ த³தா³தி ஸ ஈஸ்²வரத³த்தப⁴க்ஷ்யரூப: |
For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.”
34 ததா³ தே ப்ராவோசந் ஹே ப்ரபோ⁴ ப⁴க்ஷ்யமித³ம்’ நித்யமஸ்மப்⁴யம்’ த³தா³து|
So they said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
35 யீஸு²ரவத³த்³ அஹமேவ ஜீவநரூபம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ யோ ஜநோ மம ஸந்நிதி⁴ம் ஆக³ச்ச²தி ஸ ஜாது க்ஷுதா⁴ர்த்தோ ந ப⁴விஷ்யதி, ததா² யோ ஜநோ மாம்’ ப்ரத்யேதி ஸ ஜாது த்ரு’ஷார்த்தோ ந ப⁴விஷ்யதி|
Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; he who comes to me will never hunger, and he who believes in me will never thirst.
36 மாம்’ த்³ரு’ஷ்ட்வாபி யூயம்’ ந விஸ்²வஸித² யுஷ்மாநஹம் இத்யவோசம்’|
But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.
37 பிதா மஹ்யம்’ யாவதோ லோகாநத³தா³த் தே ஸர்வ்வ ஏவ மமாந்திகம் ஆக³மிஷ்யந்தி ய: கஸ்²சிச்ச மம ஸந்நிதி⁴ம் ஆயாஸ்யதி தம்’ கேநாபி ப்ரகாரேண ந தூ³ரீகரிஷ்யாமி|
Everyone the Father gives me will come to me, and I will never cast out anyone who comes to me.
38 நிஜாபி⁴மதம்’ ஸாத⁴யிதும்’ ந ஹி கிந்து ப்ரேரயிதுரபி⁴மதம்’ ஸாத⁴யிதும்’ ஸ்வர்கா³த்³ ஆக³தோஸ்மி|
For I have come down from heaven not to do my own will, but the will of him who sent me.
39 ஸ யாந் யாந் லோகாந் மஹ்யமத³தா³த் தேஷாமேகமபி ந ஹாரயித்வா ஸே²ஷதி³நே ஸர்வ்வாநஹம் உத்தா²பயாமி இத³ம்’ மத்ப்ரேரயிது: பிதுரபி⁴மதம்’|
And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that I should lose none of those he has given me, but should raise them up on the last day.
40 ய: கஸ்²சிந் மாநவஸுதம்’ விலோக்ய விஸ்²வஸிதி ஸ ஸே²ஷதி³நே மயோத்தா²பித: ஸந் அநந்தாயு: ப்ராப்ஸ்யதி இதி மத்ப்ரேரகஸ்யாபி⁴மதம்’| (aiōnios g166)
And this is the will of him who sent me, that anyone who looks to the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.” (aiōnios g166)
41 ததா³ ஸ்வர்கா³த்³ யத்³ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம் அவாரோஹத் தத்³ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம் அஹமேவ யிஹூதீ³யலோகாஸ்தஸ்யைதத்³ வாக்யே விவத³மாநா வக்த்துமாரேபி⁴ரே
Then the Jews began to grumble about him because he said, “I am the bread that came down from heaven.”
42 யூஷப²: புத்ரோ யீஸு² ர்யஸ்ய மாதாபிதரௌ வயம்’ ஜாநீம ஏஷ கிம்’ ஸஏவ ந? தர்ஹி ஸ்வர்கா³த்³ அவாரோஹம் இதி வாக்யம்’ கத²ம்’ வக்த்தி?
They said, “Is this not Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? How then can he say, ‘I have come down from heaven’?”
43 ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் ப்ரத்யவத³த் பரஸ்பரம்’ மா விவத³த்⁴வம்’
Jesus answered them, “Do not grumble among yourselves.
44 மத்ப்ரேரகேண பித்ரா நாக்ரு’ஷ்ட: கோபி ஜநோ மமாந்திகம் ஆயாதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோதி கிந்த்வாக³தம்’ ஜநம்’ சரமே(அ)ஹ்நி ப்ரோத்தா²பயிஷ்யாமி|
No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws him, and I will raise him up on the last day.
45 தே ஸர்வ்வ ஈஸ்²வரேண ஸி²க்ஷிதா ப⁴விஷ்யந்தி ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நாம்’ க்³ரந்தே²ஷு லிபிரித்த²மாஸ்தே அதோ ய: கஸ்²சித் பிது: ஸகாஸா²த் ஸ்²ருத்வா ஸி²க்ஷதே ஸ ஏவ மம ஸமீபம் ஆக³மிஷ்யதி|
It is written in the Prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God.’ Everyone therefore who has heard and learned from the Father comes to me—
46 ய ஈஸ்²வராத்³ அஜாயத தம்’ விநா கோபி மநுஷ்யோ ஜநகம்’ நாத³ர்ஸ²த் கேவல: ஸஏவ தாதம் அத்³ராக்ஷீத்|
not that anyone has seen the Father, except he who is from God; he has seen the Father.
47 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாந் யதா²ர்த²தரம்’ வதா³மி யோ ஜநோ மயி விஸ்²வாஸம்’ கரோதி ஸோநந்தாயு: ப்ராப்நோதி| (aiōnios g166)
Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever believes in me has eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
48 அஹமேவ தஜ்ஜீவநப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’|
I am the bread of life.
49 யுஷ்மாகம்’ பூர்வ்வபுருஷா மஹாப்ராந்தரே மந்நாப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ பூ⁴க்த்தாபி ம்ரு’தா:
Your fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, and died.
50 கிந்து யத்³ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ ஸ்வர்கா³தா³க³ச்ச²த் தத்³ யதி³ கஸ்²சித்³ பு⁴ங்க்த்தே தர்ஹி ஸ ந ம்ரியதே|
This is the bread that comes down from heaven, so that anyone may eat of it and not die.
51 யஜ்ஜீவநப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ ஸ்வர்கா³தா³க³ச்ச²த் ஸோஹமேவ இத³ம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ யோ ஜநோ பு⁴ங்க்த்தே ஸ நித்யஜீவீ ப⁴விஷ்யதி| புநஸ்²ச ஜக³தோ ஜீவநார்த²மஹம்’ யத் ஸ்வகீயபிஸி²தம்’ தா³ஸ்யாமி ததே³வ மயா விதரிதம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்| (aiōn g165)
I am the living bread that has come down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. And the bread that I will give for the life of the world is my flesh.” (aiōn g165)
52 தஸ்மாத்³ யிஹூதீ³யா: பரஸ்பரம்’ விவத³மாநா வக்த்துமாரேபி⁴ரே ஏஷ போ⁴ஜநார்த²ம்’ ஸ்வீயம்’ பலலம்’ கத²ம் அஸ்மப்⁴யம்’ தா³ஸ்யதி?
Then the Jews began to quarrel with one another, saying, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 ததா³ யீஸு²ஸ்தாந் ஆவோசத்³ யுஷ்மாநஹம்’ யதா²ர்த²தரம்’ வதா³மி மநுஷ்யபுத்ரஸ்யாமிஷே யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்ந பு⁴க்த்தே தஸ்ய ருதி⁴ரே ச ந பீதே ஜீவநேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸம்ப³ந்தோ⁴ நாஸ்தி|
So Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, if you do not eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in yourselves.
54 யோ மமாமிஷம்’ ஸ்வாத³தி மம ஸுதி⁴ரஞ்ச பிவதி ஸோநந்தாயு: ப்ராப்நோதி தத: ஸே²ஷே(அ)ஹ்நி தமஹம் உத்தா²பயிஷ்யாமி| (aiōnios g166)
Anyone who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day. (aiōnios g166)
55 யதோ மதீ³யமாமிஷம்’ பரமம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ ததா² மதீ³யம்’ ஸோ²ணிதம்’ பரமம்’ பேயம்’|
For my flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
56 யோ ஜநோ மதீ³யம்’ பலலம்’ ஸ்வாத³தி மதீ³யம்’ ருதி⁴ரஞ்ச பிவதி ஸ மயி வஸதி தஸ்மிந்நஹஞ்ச வஸாமி|
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood abides in me, and I in him.
57 மத்ப்ரேரயித்ரா ஜீவதா தாதேந யதா²ஹம்’ ஜீவாமி தத்³வத்³ ய: கஸ்²சிந் மாமத்தி ஸோபி மயா ஜீவிஷ்யதி|
Just as the living Father sent me, and I live because of the Father, so whoever feeds on me will also live because of me.
58 யத்³ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ ஸ்வர்கா³தா³க³ச்ச²த் ததி³த³ம்’ யந்மாந்நாம்’ ஸ்வாதி³த்வா யுஷ்மாகம்’ பிதரோ(அ)ம்ரியந்த தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம் இத³ம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ ந ப⁴வதி இத³ம்’ ப⁴க்ஷ்யம்’ யோ ப⁴க்ஷதி ஸ நித்யம்’ ஜீவிஷ்யதி| (aiōn g165)
This is the bread that came down from heaven, not as your fathers ate the manna, and died. Whoever eats this bread will live forever.” (aiōn g165)
59 யதா³ கப²ர்நாஹூம் புர்ய்யாம்’ ப⁴ஜநகே³ஹே உபாதி³ஸ²த் ததா³ கதா² ஏதா அகத²யத்|
He said these things in a synagogue while teaching in Capernaum.
60 ததே³த்த²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா தஸ்ய ஸி²ஷ்யாணாம் அநேகே பரஸ்பரம் அகத²யந் இத³ம்’ கா³ட⁴ம்’ வாக்யம்’ வாக்யமீத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ க: ஸ்²ரோதும்’ ஸ²க்ருயாத்?
After hearing this, many of his disciples said, “This teaching is difficult; who can accept it?”
61 கிந்து யீஸு²: ஸி²ஷ்யாணாம் இத்த²ம்’ விவாத³ம்’ ஸ்வசித்தே விஜ்ஞாய கதி²தவாந் இத³ம்’ வாக்யம்’ கிம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ விக்⁴நம்’ ஜநயதி?
But Jesus, aware that his disciples were grumbling about this, said to them, “Does this offend you?
62 யதி³ மநுஜஸுதம்’ பூர்வ்வவாஸஸ்தா²நம் ஊர்த்³வ்வம்’ க³ச்ச²ந்தம்’ பஸ்²யத² தர்ஹி கிம்’ ப⁴விஷ்யதி?
Then what if you see the Son of Man ascending to where he was before?
63 ஆத்மைவ ஜீவநதா³யக: வபு ர்நிஷ்ப²லம்’ யுஷ்மப்⁴யமஹம்’ யாநி வசாம்’ஸி கத²யாமி தாந்யாத்மா ஜீவநஞ்ச|
It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is of no benefit. The words I speak to you are spirit and life.
64 கிந்து யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யே கேசந அவிஸ்²வாஸிந: ஸந்தி கே கே ந விஸ்²வஸந்தி கோ வா தம்’ பரகரேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதி தாந் யீஸு²ராப்ரத²மாத்³ வேத்தி|
But there are some among you who do not believe.” (For Jesus knew from the beginning which of them did not believe and who it was that would betray him.)
65 அபரமபி கதி²தவாந் அஸ்மாத் காரணாத்³ அகத²யம்’ பிது: ஸகாஸா²த் ஸ²க்த்திமப்ராப்ய கோபி மமாந்திகம் ஆக³ந்தும்’ ந ஸ²க்நோதி|
Then he said, “That is why I told you that no one can come to me unless it has been granted to him by my Father.”
66 தத்காலே(அ)நேகே ஸி²ஷ்யா வ்யாகு⁴ட்ய தேந ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ புந ர்நாக³ச்ச²ந்|
At that point many of his disciples went back and no longer walked with him.
67 ததா³ யீஸு² ர்த்³வாத³ஸ²ஸி²ஷ்யாந் உக்த்தவாந் யூயமபி கிம்’ யாஸ்யத²?
So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you also want to go away?”
Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? Yoʋ have the words of eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
69 அநந்தஜீவநதா³யிந்யோ யா: கதா²ஸ்தாஸ்தவைவ| ப⁴வாந் அமரேஸ்²வரஸ்யாபி⁴ஷிக்த்தபுத்ர இதி விஸ்²வஸ்ய நிஸ்²சிதம்’ ஜாநீம: |
And we have come to believe and to know that yoʋ are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
70 ததா³ யீஸு²ரவத³த் கிமஹம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ த்³வாத³ஸ²ஜநாந் மநோநீதாந் ந க்ரு’தவாந்? கிந்து யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யேபி கஸ்²சிதே³கோ விக்⁴நகாரீ வித்³யதே|
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve? And yet one of you is a devil.”
71 இமாம்’ கத²ம்’ ஸ ஸி²மோந: புத்ரம் ஈஷ்கரீயோதீயம்’ யிஹூதா³ம் உத்³தி³ஸ்²ய கதி²தவாந் யதோ த்³வாத³ஸா²நாம்’ மத்⁴யே க³ணித: ஸ தம்’ பரகரேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதி|
(Now he was speaking about Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, who was one of the twelve and would later betray him.)
