யோஹந: 12
1 நிஸ்தாரோத்ஸவாத் பூர்வ்வம்’ தி³நஷட்கே ஸ்தி²தே யீஸு² ர்யம்’ ப்ரமீதம் இலியாஸரம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ உத³ஸ்தா²பரத் தஸ்ய நிவாஸஸ்தா²நம்’ பை³த²நியாக்³ராமம் ஆக³ச்ச²த்|
Then, six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany, where Lazarus was (the deceased whom He raised from the dead).
2 தத்ர தத³ர்த²ம்’ ரஜந்யாம்’ போ⁴ஜ்யே க்ரு’தே மர்தா² பர்ய்யவேஷயத்³ இலியாஸர் ச தஸ்ய ஸங்கி³பி⁴: ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ போ⁴ஜநாஸந உபாவிஸ²த்|
So they gave a dinner for Him there—Martha was serving, while Lazarus was one of those reclining at the table with Him.
3 ததா³ மரியம் அர்த்³த⁴ஸேடகம்’ ப³ஹுமூல்யம்’ ஜடாமாம்’ஸீயம்’ தைலம் ஆநீய யீஸோ²ஸ்²சரணயோ ர்மர்த்³த³யித்வா நிஜகேஸ² ர்மார்ஷ்டும் ஆரப⁴த; ததா³ தைலஸ்ய பரிமலேந க்³ரு’ஹம் ஆமோதி³தம் அப⁴வத்|
Then Mary, bringing a pound of pure oil of nard, very costly, anointed Jesus' feet, and wiped His feet with her hair! And the house was filled with the fragrance of the oil.
4 ய: ஸி²மோந: புத்ர ரிஷ்கரியோதீயோ யிஹூதா³நாமா யீஸு²ம்’ பரகரேஷு ஸமர்பயிஷ்யதி ஸ ஸி²ஷ்யஸ்ததா³ கதி²தவாந்,
Then one of His disciples, Judas Iscariot, Simon's son (who was about to betray Him), said,
5 ஏதத்தைலம்’ த்ரிபி⁴: ஸ²தை ர்முத்³ராபதை³ ர்விக்ரீதம்’ ஸத்³ த³ரித்³ரேப்⁴ய: குதோ நாதீ³யத?
“Why wasn't this oil sold for 300 denarii and given to the poor?”
6 ஸ த³ரித்³ரலோகார்த²ம் அசிந்தயத்³ இதி ந, கிந்து ஸ சௌர ஏவம்’ தந்நிகடே முத்³ராஸம்புடகஸ்தி²த்யா தந்மத்⁴யே யத³திஷ்ட²த் தத³பாஹரத் தஸ்மாத் காரணாத்³ இமாம்’ கதா²மகத²யத்|
(Now he did not say this because the poor mattered to him, but because he was a thief and had the money box; and used to pilfer what was put in it.)
7 ததா³ யீஸு²ரகத²யத்³ ஏநாம்’ மா வாரய ஸா மம ஸ்²மஸா²நஸ்தா²பநதி³நார்த²ம்’ தத³ரக்ஷயத்|
So Jesus said: “Let her be; she has performed this with a view to my burial.
8 த³ரித்³ரா யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ஸர்வ்வதா³ திஷ்ட²ந்தி கிந்த்வஹம்’ ஸர்வ்வதா³ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸந்நிதௌ⁴ ந திஷ்டா²மி|
For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
9 தத: பரம்’ யீஸு²ஸ்தத்ராஸ்தீதி வார்த்தாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா ப³ஹவோ யிஹூதீ³யாஸ்தம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நாது³த்தா²பிதம் இலியாஸரஞ்ச த்³ரஷ்டும்’ தத் ஸ்தா²நம் ஆக³ச்ச²ந|
Then a large crowd of the Jews learned that He was there; and they came, not only because of Jesus but also to see Lazarus, whom He had raised from the dead.
10 ததா³ ப்ரதா⁴நயாஜகாஸ்தம் இலியாஸரமபி ஸம்’ஹர்த்தும் அமந்த்ரயந்;
So the chief priests decided to kill Lazarus as well,
11 யதஸ்தேந ப³ஹவோ யிஹூதீ³யா க³த்வா யீஸௌ² வ்யஸ்²வஸந்|
in that because of him many of the Jews were defecting and believing into Jesus.
12 அநந்தரம்’ யீஸு² ர்யிரூஸா²லம் நக³ரம் ஆக³ச்ச²தீதி வார்த்தாம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா பரே(அ)ஹநி உத்ஸவாக³தா ப³ஹவோ லோகா:
The next day a large crowd that had come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming into Jerusalem,
13 க²ர்ஜ்ஜூரபத்ராத்³யாநீய தம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் கர்த்தும்’ ப³ஹிராக³த்ய ஜய ஜயேதி வாசம்’ ப்ரோச்சை ர்வக்தும் ஆரப⁴ந்த, இஸ்ராயேலோ யோ ராஜா பரமேஸ்²வரஸ்ய நாம்நாக³ச்ச²தி ஸ த⁴ந்ய: |
took branches from palm trees and went out to meet Him. And they started shouting: “Hosanna!” “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!” “King of Israel!”
14 ததா³ "ஹே ஸியோந: கந்யே மா பை⁴ஷீ: பஸ்²யாயம்’ தவ ராஜா க³ர்த்³த³ப⁴ஸா²வகம் ஆருஹ்யாக³ச்ச²தி"
And finding a young donkey Jesus sat on it; just as it is written:
15 இதி ஸா²ஸ்த்ரீயவசநாநுஸாரேண யீஸு²ரேகம்’ யுவக³ர்த்³த³ப⁴ம்’ ப்ராப்ய தது³பர்ய்யாரோஹத்|
“Fear no more, daughter of Zion. Look, your King is coming, sitting on a donkey's colt!”
16 அஸ்யா: க⁴டநாயாஸ்தாத்பர்ய்யம்’ ஸி²ஷ்யா: ப்ரத²மம்’ நாபு³த்⁴யந்த, கிந்து யீஸௌ² மஹிமாநம்’ ப்ராப்தே ஸதி வாக்யமித³ம்’ தஸ்மிந அகத்²யத லோகாஸ்²ச தம்ப்ரதீத்த²ம் அகுர்வ்வந் இதி தே ஸ்ம்ரு’தவந்த: |
(Now His disciples did not understand these things at first; but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written about Him, and they had done them to Him.)
17 ஸ இலியாஸரம்’ ஸ்²மஸா²நாத்³ ஆக³ந்தும் ஆஹ்வதவாந் ஸ்²மஸா²நாஞ்ச உத³ஸ்தா²பயத்³ யே யே லோகாஸ்தத்கர்ம்ய ஸாக்ஷாத்³ அபஸ்²யந் தே ப்ரமாணம்’ தா³தும் ஆரப⁴ந்த|
So the crowd that had been with Him when He called Lazarus out of the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to testify.
18 ஸ ஏதாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம் அத்³பு⁴தம்’ கர்ம்மகரோத் தஸ்ய ஜநஸ்²ருதே ர்லோகாஸ்தம்’ ஸாக்ஷாத் கர்த்தும் ஆக³ச்ச²ந்|
That is also why the crowd met Him, because they heard that He had performed this sign.
19 தத: பி²ரூஸி²ந: பரஸ்பரம்’ வக்தும் ஆரப⁴ந்த யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸர்வ்வாஸ்²சேஷ்டா வ்ரு’தா² ஜாதா: , இதி கிம்’ யூயம்’ ந பு³த்⁴யத்⁴வே? பஸ்²யத ஸர்வ்வே லோகாஸ்தஸ்ய பஸ்²சாத்³வர்த்திநோப⁴வந்|
So the Pharisees said among themselves: “You can see that you are not making any difference! Just look, the world has gone off after Him!”
20 ப⁴ஜநம்’ கர்த்தும் உத்ஸவாக³தாநாம்’ லோகாநாம்’ கதிபயா ஜநா அந்யதே³ஸீ²யா ஆஸந்,
Now there were some Greeks among those who went up to worship at the feast.
21 தே கா³லீலீயபை³த்ஸைதா³நிவாஸிந: பி²லிபஸ்ய ஸமீபம் ஆக³த்ய வ்யாஹரந் ஹே மஹேச்ச² வயம்’ யீஸு²ம்’ த்³ரஷ்டும் இச்சா²ம: |
So these men approached Philip, who was from Bethsaida in Galilee, and requested of him saying, “Sir, we want to see Jesus.”
22 தத: பி²லிபோ க³த்வா ஆந்த்³ரியம் அவத³த் பஸ்²சாத்³ ஆந்த்³ரியபி²லிபௌ யீஸ²வே வார்த்தாம் அகத²யதாம்’|
Philip goes and tells Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip tell Jesus.
23 ததா³ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யுதி³தவாந் மாநவஸுதஸ்ய மஹிமப்ராப்திஸமய உபஸ்தி²த: |
But Jesus answered them saying: “The hour has come for the Son of the Man to be glorified.
24 அஹம்’ யுஷ்மாநதியதா²ர்த²ம்’ வதா³மி, தா⁴ந்யபீ³ஜம்’ ம்ரு’த்திகாயாம்’ பதித்வா யதி³ ந ம்ரு’யதே தர்ஹ்யேகாகீ திஷ்ட²தி கிந்து யதி³ ம்ரு’யதே தர்ஹி ப³ஹுகு³ணம்’ ப²லம்’ ப²லதி|
Most assuredly I say to you, if a grain of wheat, having fallen into the ground, does not die, it remains alone; but if it dies it bears a lot of fruit.
25 யோ ஜநே நிஜப்ராணாந் ப்ரியாந் ஜாநாதி ஸ தாந் ஹாரயிஷ்யதி கிந்து யே ஜந இஹலோகே நிஜப்ராணாந் அப்ரியாந் ஜாநாதி ஸேநந்தாயு: ப்ராப்தும்’ தாந் ரக்ஷிஷ்யதி| (aiōnios g166)
The one ‘loving’ his life will waste it, and the one ‘hating’ his life, in this world, will preserve it into eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
26 கஸ்²சித்³ யதி³ மம ஸேவகோ ப⁴விதும்’ வாஞ்ச²தி தர்ஹி ஸ மம பஸ்²சாத்³கா³மீ ப⁴வது, தஸ்மாத்³ அஹம்’ யத்ர திஷ்டா²மி மம ஸேவகேபி தத்ர ஸ்தா²ஸ்யதி; யோ ஜநோ மாம்’ ஸேவதே மம பிதாபி தம்’ ஸம்மம்’ஸ்யதே|
If anyone would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, my servant will be too. Further, if anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
27 ஸாம்ப்ரதம்’ மம ப்ராணா வ்யாகுலா ப⁴வந்தி, தஸ்மாத்³ ஹே பிதர ஏதஸ்மாத் ஸமயாந் மாம்’ ரக்ஷ, இத்யஹம்’ கிம்’ ப்ரார்த²யிஷ்யே? கிந்த்வஹம் ஏதத்ஸமயார்த²ம் அவதீர்ணவாந்|
“Now my soul is distressed, and what should I say—‘Father, rescue me from this hour’? But this is why I came to this hour—
28 ஹே பித: ஸ்வநாம்நோ மஹிமாநம்’ ப்ரகாஸ²ய; தநைவ ஸ்வநாம்நோ மஹிமாநம் அஹம்’ ப்ராகாஸ²யம்’ புநரபி ப்ரகாஸ²யிஷ்யாமி, ஏஷா க³க³ணீயா வாணீ தஸ்மிந் ஸமயே(அ)ஜாயத|
‘Father, glorify your name!’” Then a Voice came out of Heaven, “I have both glorified it and will glorify it again!”
29 தச்ஸ்²ருத்வா ஸமீபஸ்த²லோகாநாம்’ கேசித்³ அவத³ந் மேகோ⁴(அ)க³ர்ஜீத், கேசித்³ அவத³ந் ஸ்வர்கீ³யதூ³தோ(அ)நேந ஸஹ கதா²மசகத²த்|
So the crowd that was standing by and listening said that it had thundered. Others said, “An angel has spoken to Him.”
30 ததா³ யீஸு²: ப்ரத்யவாதீ³த், மத³ர்த²ம்’ ஸ²ப்³தோ³யம்’ நாபூ⁴த் யுஷ்மத³ர்த²மேவாபூ⁴த்|
Jesus answered and said: “It was not for my sake that this Voice came, but for your sakes.
31 அது⁴நா ஜக³தோஸ்ய விசார: ஸம்பத்ஸ்யதே, அது⁴நாஸ்ய ஜக³த: பதீ ராஜ்யாத் ச்யோஷ்யதி|
Now is the judgment of this world; now the ruler of this world will be thrown out.
32 யத்³யஈ ப்ரு’தி²வ்யா ஊர்த்³வ்வே ப்ரோத்தா²பிதோஸ்மி தர்ஹி ஸர்வ்வாந் மாநவாந் ஸ்வஸமீபம் ஆகர்ஷிஷ்யாமி|
While I, if I be lifted up from the earth, I will draw all people to myself.”
33 கத²ம்’ தஸ்ய ம்ரு’தி ர்ப⁴விஷ்யதி, ஏதத்³ போ³த⁴யிதும்’ ஸ இமாம்’ கதா²ம் அகத²யத்|
(Now He said this to indicate by what kind of death He was about to die.)
34 ததா³ லோகா அகத²யந் ஸோபி⁴ஷிக்த: ஸர்வ்வதா³ திஷ்ட²தீதி வ்யவஸ்தா²க்³ரந்தே² ஸ்²ருதம் அஸ்மாபி⁴: , தர்ஹி மநுஷ்யபுத்ர: ப்ரோத்தா²பிதோ ப⁴விஷ்யதீதி வாக்யம்’ கத²ம்’ வத³ஸி? மநுஷ்யபுத்ரோயம்’ க: ? (aiōn g165)
The people answered Him: “We have heard from the Law that the Messiah remains forever; and so how can you say, ‘The Son of the Man must be lifted up’? Who is this ‘the Son of the Man’?” (aiōn g165)
35 ததா³ யீஸு²ரகதா²யத்³ யுஷ்மாபி⁴: ஸார்த்³த⁴ம் அல்பதி³நாநி ஜ்யோதிராஸ்தே, யதா² யுஷ்மாந் அந்த⁴காரோ நாச்சா²த³யதி தத³ர்த²ம்’ யாவத்காலம்’ யுஷ்மாபி⁴: ஸார்த்³த⁴ம்’ ஜ்யோதிஸ்திஷ்ட²தி தாவத்காலம்’ க³ச்ச²த; யோ ஜநோ(அ)ந்த⁴காரே க³ச்ச²தி ஸ குத்ர யாதீதி ந ஜாநாதி|
Then Jesus said to them: “The Light will be with you just a little longer. Walk while you have the light, so that darkness does not overtake you; the one who walks in the darkness does not know where he is going.
36 அதஏவ யாவத்காலம்’ யுஷ்மாகம்’ நிகடே ஜ்யோதிராஸ்தே தாவத்காலம்’ ஜ்யோதீரூபஸந்தாநா ப⁴விதும்’ ஜ்யோதிஷி விஸ்²வஸித; இமாம்’ கதா²ம்’ கத²யித்வா யீஸு²: ப்ரஸ்தா²ய தேப்⁴ய: ஸ்வம்’ கு³ப்தவாந்|
While you have the Light, believe into the Light, so that you may become sons of light.” Jesus said these things, and going away He was hidden from them.
37 யத்³யபி யீஸு²ஸ்தேஷாம்’ ஸமக்ஷம் ஏதாவதா³ஸ்²சர்ய்யகர்ம்மாணி க்ரு’தவாந் ததா²பி தே தஸ்மிந் ந வ்யஸ்²வஸந்|
Although He had performed so many signs in their presence, they were not believing into Him;
38 அதஏவ க: ப்ரத்யேதி ஸுஸம்’வாத³ம்’ பரேஸா²ஸ்மத் ப்ரசாரிதம்’? ப்ரகாஸ²தே பரேஸ²ஸ்ய ஹஸ்த: கஸ்ய ச ஸந்நிதௌ⁴? யிஸ²யியப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³நா யதே³தத்³ வாக்யமுக்தம்’ தத் ஸப²லம் அப⁴வத்|
so that the word spoken by Isaiah the prophet should be fulfilled: “Lord, who has believed what we heard? And to whom has the arm of the Lord really been revealed?”
39 தே ப்ரத்யேதும்’ நாஸ²ந்குவந் தஸ்மிந் யிஸ²யியப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாதி³ புநரவாதீ³த்³,
Therefore they were unable to believe, in that Isaiah said again:
40 யதா³, "தே நயநை ர்ந பஸ்²யந்தி பு³த்³தி⁴பி⁴ஸ்²ச ந பு³த்⁴யந்தே தை ர்மந: ஸு பரிவர்த்திதேஷு ச தாநஹம்’ யதா² ஸ்வஸ்தா²ந் ந கரோமி ததா² ஸ தேஷாம்’ லோசநாந்யந்தா⁴நி க்ரு’த்வா தேஷாமந்த: கரணாநி கா³டா⁴நி கரிஷ்யதி| "
“He has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, lest they should see with their eyes and understand with their hearts and should turn around, and I would heal them.”
41 யிஸ²யியோ யதா³ யீஸோ² ர்மஹிமாநம்’ விலோக்ய தஸ்மிந் கதா²மகத²யத் ததா³ ப⁴விஷ்யத்³வாக்யம் ஈத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ப்ரகாஸ²யத்|
Isaiah said these things when he saw His glory and spoke concerning Him.
42 ததா²ப்யதி⁴பதிநாம்’ ப³ஹவஸ்தஸ்மிந் ப்ரத்யாயந்| கிந்து பி²ரூஸி²நஸ்தாந் ப⁴ஜநக்³ரு’ஹாத்³ தூ³ரீகுர்வ்வந்தீதி ப⁴யாத் தே தம்’ ந ஸ்வீக்ரு’தவந்த: |
Nevertheless, even among the rulers many believed into Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not confess Him, so they would not be expelled from the synagogue;
43 யத ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ப்ரஸ²ம்’ஸாதோ மாநவாநாம்’ ப்ரஸ²ம்’ஸாயாம்’ தே(அ)ப்ரியந்த|
for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God.
44 ததா³ யீஸு²ருச்சை: காரம் அகத²யத்³ யோ ஜநோ மயி விஸ்²வஸிதி ஸ கேவலே மயி விஸ்²வஸிதீதி ந, ஸ மத்ப்ரேரகே(அ)பி விஸ்²வஸிதி|
Jesus called out and said: “The one believing into me believes not into me but into Him who sent me.
45 யோ ஜநோ மாம்’ பஸ்²யதி ஸ மத்ப்ரேரகமபி பஸ்²யதி|
And the one seeing me sees Him who sent me.
46 யோ ஜநோ மாம்’ ப்ரத்யேதி ஸ யதா²ந்த⁴காரே ந திஷ்ட²தி தத³ர்த²ம் அஹம்’ ஜ்யோதி: ஸ்வரூபோ பூ⁴த்வா ஜக³த்யஸ்மிந் அவதீர்ணவாந்|
I, Light, have come into the world so that everyone who believes into me will not remain in the darkness.
47 மம கதா²ம்’ ஸ்²ருத்வா யதி³ கஸ்²சிந் ந விஸ்²வஸிதி தர்ஹி தமஹம்’ தோ³ஷிணம்’ ந கரோமி, யதோ ஹேதோ ர்ஜக³தோ ஜநாநாம்’ தோ³ஷாந் நிஸ்²சிதாந் கர்த்தும்’ நாக³த்ய தாந் பரிசாதும் ஆக³தோஸ்மி|
Also, if someone hears my words and does not believe, I do not judge him; because I did not come to judge the world but to save the world.
48 ய: கஸ்²சிந் மாம்’ ந ஸ்²ரத்³தா⁴ய மம கத²ம்’ ந க்³ரு’ஹ்லாதி, அந்யஸ்தம்’ தோ³ஷிணம்’ கரிஷ்யதி வஸ்துதஸ்து யாம்’ கதா²மஹம் அசகத²ம்’ ஸா கதா² சரமே(அ)ந்ஹி தம்’ தோ³ஷிணம்’ கரிஷ்யதி|
The one who rejects me and does not receive my sayings has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken, that is what will judge him on the last day;
49 யதோ ஹேதோரஹம்’ ஸ்வத: கிமபி ந கத²யாமி, கிம்’ கிம்’ மயா கத²யிதவ்யம்’ கிம்’ ஸமுபதே³ஷ்டவ்யஞ்ச இதி மத்ப்ரேரயிதா பிதா மாமாஜ்ஞாபயத்|
because I have not spoken on my own, but the Father who sent me, He gave me a command, what I should say and what I should speak.
