யாகூப³: 4
1 யுஷ்மாகம்’ மத்⁴யே ஸமரா ரணஸ்²ச குத உத்பத்³யந்தே? யுஷ்மத³ங்க³ஸி²பி³ராஸ்²ரிதாப்⁴ய: ஸுகே²ச்சா²ப்⁴ய: கிம்’ நோத்பத்³யந்தே?
Whence wars and fightings among you? Do they not come hence, even from your lusts, which war in your members?
2 யூயம்’ வாஞ்ச²த² கிந்து நாப்நுத², யூயம்’ நரஹத்யாம் ஈர்ஷ்யாஞ்ச குருத² கிந்து க்ரு’தார்தா² ப⁴விதும்’ ந ஸ²க்நுத², யூயம்’ யுத்⁴யத² ரணம்’ குருத² ச கிந்த்வப்ராப்தாஸ்திஷ்ட²த², யதோ ஹேதோ: ப்ரார்த²நாம்’ ந குருத²|
You strongly desire, and have not; you kill, and are zealous, and can not obtain. You fight and war, but have not, because you ask not.
3 யூயம்’ ப்ரார்த²யத்⁴வே கிந்து ந லப⁴த்⁴வே யதோ ஹேதோ: ஸ்வஸுக²போ⁴கே³ஷு வ்யயார்த²ம்’ கு ப்ரார்த²யத்⁴வே|
You ask, and do not receive, because you ask wickedly, that you may spend upon your lusts.
4 ஹே வ்யபி⁴சாரிணோ வ்யபி⁴சாரிண்யஸ்²ச, ஸம்’ஸாரஸ்ய யத் மைத்ர்யம்’ தத்³ ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸா²த்ரவமிதி யூயம்’ கிம்’ ந ஜாநீத²? அத ஏவ ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸம்’ஸாரஸ்ய மித்ரம்’ ப⁴விதும் அபி⁴லஷதி ஸ ஏவேஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸ²த்ரு ர்ப⁴வதி|
Adulterers, and adulteresses, do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity against God? Whosoever, therefore, will be a friend of the world, is counted an enemy of God.
5 யூயம்’ கிம்’ மந்யத்⁴வே? ஸா²ஸ்த்ரஸ்ய வாக்யம்’ கிம்’ ப²லஹீநம்’ ப⁴வேத்? அஸ்மத³ந்தர்வாஸீ ய ஆத்மா ஸ வா கிம் ஈர்ஷ்யார்த²ம்’ ப்ரேம கரோதி?
Do you think that the scripture speaks in vain? And does the spirit, who dwells in us, strongly incline to envy?
6 தந்நஹி கிந்து ஸ ப்ரதுலம்’ வரம்’ விதரதி தஸ்மாத்³ உக்தமாஸ்தே யதா², ஆத்மாபி⁴மாநலோகாநாம்’ விபக்ஷோ ப⁴வதீஸ்²வர: | கிந்து தேநைவ நம்ரேப்⁴ய: ப்ரஸாதா³த்³ தீ³யதே வர: ||
But he gives greater favor. For it says, "God resists the proud, but gives favor to the humble."
7 அதஏவ யூயம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய வஸ்²யா ப⁴வத ஸ²யதாநம்’ ஸம்’ருந்த⁴ தேந ஸ யுஷ்மத்த: பலாயிஷ்யதே|
Therefore, be subject to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.
8 ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய ஸமீபவர்த்திநோ ப⁴வத தேந ஸ யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஸமீபவர்த்தீ ப⁴விஷ்யதி| ஹே பாபிந: , யூயம்’ ஸ்வகராந் பரிஷ்குருத்⁴வம்’| ஹே த்³விமநோலோகா: , யூயம்’ ஸ்வாந்த: கரணாநி ஸு²சீநி குருத்⁴வம்’|
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you men of two minds.
9 யூயம் உத்³விஜத்⁴வம்’ ஸோ²சத விலபத ச, யுஷ்மாகம்’ ஹாஸ: ஸோ²காய, ஆநந்த³ஸ்²ச காதரதாயை பரிவர்த்தேதாம்’|
Be exceedingly afflicted, and mourn, and weep; and let your laughter be turned into mourning, and your joy into sadness.
10 ப்ரபோ⁴: ஸமக்ஷம்’ நம்ரா ப⁴வத தஸ்மாத் ஸ யுஷ்மாந் உச்சீகரிஷ்யதி|
Be humble in the presence of the Lord, and he will lift you up.
11 ஹே ப்⁴ராதர: , யூயம்’ பரஸ்பரம்’ மா தூ³ஷயத| ய: கஸ்²சித்³ ப்⁴ராதரம்’ தூ³ஷயதி ப்⁴ராது ர்விசாரஞ்ச கரோதி ஸ வ்யவஸ்தா²ம்’ தூ³ஷயதி வ்யவஸ்தா²யாஸ்²ச விசாரம்’ கரோதி| த்வம்’ யதி³ வ்யவஸ்தா²யா விசாரம்’ கரோஷி தர்ஹி வ்யவஸ்தா²பாலயிதா ந ப⁴வஸி கிந்து விசாரயிதா ப⁴வஸி|
He who speaks against his brother, and condemns his brother, speaks against the law, and condemns the law. But if you condemn the law, you are not a doer of the law, but a judge.
12 அத்³விதீயோ வ்யவஸ்தா²பகோ விசாரயிதா ச ஸ ஏவாஸ்தே யோ ரக்ஷிதும்’ நாஸ²யிதுஞ்ச பாரயதி| கிந்து கஸ்த்வம்’ யத் பரஸ்ய விசாரம்’ கரோஷி?
There is one lawgiver, who is able to save, and to destroy. Who are you, that condemn another?
13 அத்³ய ஸ்²வோ வா வயம் அமுகநக³ரம்’ க³த்வா தத்ர வர்ஷமேகம்’ யாபயந்தோ வாணிஜ்யம்’ கரிஷ்யாம: லாப⁴ம்’ ப்ராப்ஸ்யாமஸ்²சேதி கதா²ம்’ பா⁴ஷமாணா யூயம் இதா³நீம்’ ஸ்²ரு’ணுத|
Come, now, you who say, To-day, or to-morrow, we will go to such a city, and will abide there one year, and traffic in merchandise, and get gain;
14 ஸ்²வ: கிம்’ க⁴டிஷ்யதே தத்³ யூயம்’ ந ஜாநீத² யதோ ஜீவநம்’ வோ ப⁴வேத் கீத்³ரு’க் தத்து பா³ஷ்பஸ்வரூபகம்’, க்ஷணமாத்ரம்’ ப⁴வேத்³ த்³ரு’ஸ்²யம்’ லுப்யதே ச தத: பரம்’|
who do not know what shall be to-morrow. For what is your life? It is, indeed, a smoke, which appears for a little while, and then vanishes away.
15 தத³நுக்த்வா யுஷ்மாகம் இத³ம்’ கத²நீயம்’ ப்ரபோ⁴ரிச்சா²தோ வயம்’ யதி³ ஜீவாமஸ்தர்ஹ்யேதத் கர்ம்ம தத் கர்ம்ம வா கரிஷ்யாம இதி|
Instead of which, you ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.
16 கிந்த்விதா³நீம்’ யூயம்’ க³ர்வ்வவாக்யை: ஸ்²லாக⁴நம்’ குருத்⁴வே தாத்³ரு’ஸ²ம்’ ஸர்வ்வம்’ ஸ்²லாக⁴நம்’ குத்ஸிதமேவ|
But now you boast in your proud speeches: all such boasting is evil.
17 அதோ ய: கஸ்²சித் ஸத்கர்ம்ம கர்த்தம்’ விதி³த்வா தந்ந கரோதி தஸ்ய பாபம்’ ஜாயதே|
Wherefore, to him who know how to do good, and does it not, to him it is sin.
