இப்³ரிண​: 10

1 வ்யவஸ்தா² ப⁴விஷ்யந்மங்க³லாநாம்’ சா²யாஸ்வரூபா ந ச வஸ்தூநாம்’ மூர்த்திஸ்வரூபா ததோ ஹேதோ ர்நித்யம்’ தீ³யமாநைரேகவிதை⁴ ர்வார்ஷிகப³லிபி⁴​: ஸ²ரணாக³தலோகாந் ஸித்³தா⁴ந் கர்த்தும்’ கதா³பி ந ஸ²க்நோதி|

For the Law, having a shadow of the good to come, not the very image of the things, can never with the same sacrifices year by year, which they offer continually, make perfect those who draw near.

2 யத்³யஸ²க்ஷ்யத் தர்ஹி தேஷாம்’ ப³லீநாம்’ தா³நம்’ கிம்’ ந ந்யவர்த்திஷ்யத? யத​: ஸேவாகாரிஷ்வேகக்ரு’த்வ​: பவித்ரீபூ⁴தேஷு தேஷாம்’ கோ(அ)பி பாபபோ³த⁴​: புந ர்நாப⁴விஷ்யத்|

Or else would not they have ceased to be offered, because the worshippers, having been once cleansed, would have had no more consciousness of sins?

3 கிந்து தை ர்ப³லிதா³நை​: ப்ரதிவத்ஸரம்’ பாபாநாம்’ ஸ்மாரணம்’ ஜாயதே|

But in those sacrifices there is yearly reminder of sins.

4 யதோ வ்ரு’ஷாணாம்’ சா²கா³நாம்’ வா ருதி⁴ரேண பாபமோசநம்’ ந ஸம்ப⁴வதி|

For it is impossible that the blood of bulls and goats should take away sins.

5 ஏதத்காரணாத் க்²ரீஷ்டேந ஜக³த் ப்ரவிஸ்²யேத³ம் உச்யதே, யதா², "நேஷ்ட்வா ப³லிம்’ ந நைவேத்³யம்’ தே³ஹோ மே நிர்ம்மிதஸ்த்வயா|

Therefore when he comes into the world, he says, "Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me.

6 ந ச த்வம்’ ப³லிபி⁴ ர்ஹவ்யை​: பாபக்⁴நை ர்வா ப்ரதுஷ்யஸி|

Whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you took no pleasure in.

7 அவாதி³ஷம்’ ததை³வாஹம்’ பஸ்²ய குர்வ்வே ஸமாக³மம்’| த⁴ர்ம்மக்³ரந்த²ஸ்ய ஸர்கே³ மே வித்³யதே லிகி²தா கதா²| ஈஸ² மநோ(அ)பி⁴லாஷஸ்தே மயா ஸம்பூரயிஷ்யதே| "

Then I said, 'Look, I have come. It is written about me in the scroll of a book; to do your will, God.'"

8 இத்யஸ்மிந் ப்ரத²மதோ யேஷாம்’ தா³நம்’ வ்யவஸ்தா²நுஸாராத்³ ப⁴வதி தாந்யதி⁴ தேநேத³முக்தம்’ யதா², ப³லிநைவேத்³யஹவ்யாநி பாபக்⁴நஞ்சோபசாரகம்’, நேமாநி வாஞ்ச²ஸி த்வம்’ ஹி ந சைதேஷு ப்ரதுஷ்யஸீதி|

Previously saying, "Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sin-offerings you did not desire, nor took pleasure in" (which are offered according to the Law),

9 தத​: பரம்’ தேநோக்தம்’ யதா², "பஸ்²ய மநோ(அ)பி⁴லாஷம்’ தே கர்த்தும்’ குர்வ்வே ஸமாக³மம்’;" த்³விதீயம் ஏதத்³ வாக்யம்’ ஸ்தி²ரீகர்த்தும்’ ஸ ப்ரத²மம்’ லும்பதி|

then he said, "Look, I have come to do your will." He takes away the first, that he may establish the second,

10 தேந மநோ(அ)பி⁴லாஷேண ச வயம்’ யீஸு²க்²ரீஷ்டஸ்யைகக்ரு’த்வ​: ஸ்வஸ²ரீரோத்ஸர்கா³த் பவித்ரீக்ரு’தா அப⁴வாம|

by which will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.

11 அபரம் ஏகைகோ யாஜக​: ப்ரதிதி³நம் உபாஸநாம்’ குர்வ்வந் யைஸ்²ச பாபாநி நாஸ²யிதும்’ கதா³பி ந ஸ²க்யந்தே தாத்³ரு’ஸா²ந் ஏகரூபாந் ப³லீந் புந​: புநருத்ஸ்ரு’ஜந் திஷ்ட²தி|

Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins,

12 கிந்த்வஸௌ பாபநாஸ²கம் ஏகம்’ ப³லிம்’ த³த்வாநந்தகாலார்த²ம் ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய த³க்ஷிண உபவிஸ்²ய

but this one, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God;

13 யாவத் தஸ்ய ஸ²த்ரவஸ்தஸ்ய பாத³பீட²ம்’ ந ப⁴வந்தி தாவத் ப்ரதீக்ஷமாணஸ்திஷ்ட²தி|

from that time waiting until his enemies are made the footstool of his feet.

14 யத ஏகேந ப³லிதா³நேந ஸோ(அ)நந்தகாலார்த²ம்’ பூயமாநாந் லோகாந் ஸாதி⁴தவாந்|

For by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.

15 ஏதஸ்மிந் பவித்ர ஆத்மாப்யஸ்மாகம்’ பக்ஷே ப்ரமாணயதி

The Holy Spirit also testifies to us, for after saying,

16 "யதோ ஹேதோஸ்தத்³தி³நாத் பரம் அஹம்’ தை​: ஸார்த்³த⁴ம் இமம்’ நியமம்’ ஸ்தி²ரீகரிஷ்யாமீதி ப்ரத²மத உக்த்வா பரமேஸ்²வரேணேத³ம்’ கதி²தம்’, தேஷாம்’ சித்தே மம விதீ⁴ந் ஸ்தா²பயிஷ்யாமி தேஷாம்’ மந​: ஸு ச தாந் லேகி²ஷ்யாமி ச,

"This is the covenant that I will make with them: 'After those days,' says the Lord, 'I will put my laws on their hearts, I will also write them on their minds.'"

17 அபரஞ்ச தேஷாம்’ பாபாந்யபராதா⁴ம்’ஸ்²ச புந​: கதா³பி ந ஸ்மாரிஷ்யாமி| "

"And I will remember their sins and their iniquities no more."

18 கிந்து யத்ர பாபமோசநம்’ ப⁴வதி தத்ர பாபார்த²கப³லிதா³நம்’ புந ர்ந ப⁴வதி|

Now where forgiveness of these is, there is no more offering for sin.

19 அதோ ஹே ப்⁴ராதர​: , யீஸோ² ருதி⁴ரேண பவித்ரஸ்தா²நப்ரவேஸா²யாஸ்மாகம் உத்ஸாஹோ ப⁴வதி,

Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of Jesus,

20 யத​: ஸோ(அ)ஸ்மத³ர்த²ம்’ திரஸ்கரிண்யார்த²த​: ஸ்வஸ²ரீரேண நவீநம்’ ஜீவநயுக்தஞ்சைகம்’ பந்தா²நம்’ நிர்ம்மிதவாந்,

by the way which he dedicated for us, a new and living way, through the curtain, that is to say, his flesh;

21 அபரஞ்சேஸ்²வரீயபரிவாரஸ்யாத்⁴யக்ஷ ஏகோ மஹாயாஜகோ(அ)ஸ்மாகமஸ்தி|

and having a great priest over the house of God,

22 அதோ ஹேதோரஸ்மாபி⁴​: ஸரலாந்த​: கரணை ர்த்³ரு’ட⁴விஸ்²வாஸை​: பாபபோ³தா⁴த் ப்ரக்ஷாலிதமநோபி⁴ ர்நிர்ம்மலஜலே ஸ்நாதஸ²ரீரைஸ்²சேஸ்²வரம் உபாக³த்ய ப்ரத்யாஸா²யா​: ப்ரதிஜ்ஞா நிஸ்²சலா தா⁴ரயிதவ்யா|

let us draw near with a true heart in fullness of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and having our body washed with pure water,

23 யதோ யஸ்தாம் அங்கீ³க்ரு’தவாந் ஸ விஸ்²வஸநீய​: |

let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering; for he who promised is faithful.

24 அபரம்’ ப்ரேம்நி ஸத்க்ரியாஸு சைகைகஸ்யோத்ஸாஹவ்ரு’த்³த்⁴யர்த²ம் அஸ்மாபி⁴​: பரஸ்பரம்’ மந்த்ரயிதவ்யம்’|

Let us consider how to motivate one another to love and good works,

25 அபரம்’ கதிபயலோகா யதா² குர்வ்வந்தி ததா²ஸ்மாபி⁴​: ஸபா⁴கரணம்’ ந பரித்யக்தவ்யம்’ பரஸ்பரம் உபதே³ஷ்டவ்யஞ்ச யதஸ்தத் மஹாதி³நம் உத்தரோத்தரம்’ நிகடவர்த்தி ப⁴வதீதி யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்த்³ரு’ஸ்²யதே|

not forsaking our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another; and so much the more, as you see the Day approaching.

26 ஸத்யமதஸ்ய ஜ்ஞாநப்ராப்தே​: பரம்’ யதி³ வயம்’ ஸ்வம்’ச்ச²யா பாபாசாரம்’ குர்ம்மஸ்தர்ஹி பாபாநாம்’ க்ரு’தே (அ)ந்யத் கிமபி ப³லிதா³நம்’ நாவஸி²ஷ்யதே

For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins,

27 கிந்து விசாரஸ்ய ப⁴யாநகா ப்ரதீக்ஷா ரிபுநாஸ²காநலஸ்ய தாபஸ்²சாவஸி²ஷ்யதே|

but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries.

28 ய​: கஸ்²சித் மூஸஸோ வ்யவஸ்தா²ம் அவமந்யதே ஸ த³யாம்’ விநா த்³வயோஸ்திஸ்ரு’ணாம்’ வா ஸாக்ஷிணாம்’ ப்ரமாணேந ஹந்யதே,

Anyone who disregards the Law of Moses dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses.

29 தஸ்மாத் கிம்’ பு³த்⁴யத்⁴வே யோ ஜந ஈஸ்²வரஸ்ய புத்ரம் அவஜாநாதி யேந ச பவித்ரீக்ரு’தோ (அ)ப⁴வத் தத் நியமஸ்ய ருதி⁴ரம் அபவித்ரம்’ ஜாநாதி, அநுக்³ரஹகரம் ஆத்மாநம் அபமந்யதே ச, ஸ கியந்மஹாகோ⁴ரதரத³ண்ட³ஸ்ய யோக்³யோ ப⁴விஷ்யதி?

How much worse punishment, do you think, will he be judged worthy of, who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace?

30 யத​: பரமேஸ்²வர​: கத²யதி, "தா³நம்’ ப²லஸ்ய மத்கர்ம்ம ஸூசிதம்’ ப்ரத³தா³ம்யஹம்’| " புநரபி, "ததா³ விசாரயிஷ்யந்தே பரேஸே²ந நிஜா​: ப்ரஜா​: | " இத³ம்’ ய​: கதி²தவாந் தம்’ வயம்’ ஜாநீம​: |

For we know him who said, "Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay." Again, "The Lord will judge his people."

31 அமரேஸ்²வரஸ்ய கரயோ​: பதநம்’ மஹாப⁴யாநகம்’|

It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

32 ஹே ப்⁴ராதர​: , பூர்வ்வதி³நாநி ஸ்மரத யதஸ்ததா³நீம்’ யூயம்’ தீ³ப்திம்’ ப்ராப்ய ப³ஹுது³ர்க³திரூபம்’ ஸம்’க்³ராமம்’ ஸஹமாநா ஏகதோ நிந்தா³க்லேஸை²​: கௌதுகீக்ரு’தா அப⁴வத,

But remember the former days, in which, after you were enlightened, you endured a great struggle with sufferings;

33 அந்யதஸ்²ச தத்³போ⁴கி³நாம்’ ஸமாம்’ஸி²நோ (அ)ப⁴வத|

partly, being exposed to insults and abuse in public, and sometimes you came to share with others who were treated in the same way.

34 யூயம்’ மம ப³ந்த⁴நஸ்ய து³​: கே²ந து³​: கி²நோ (அ)ப⁴வத, யுஷ்மாகம் உத்தமா நித்யா ச ஸம்பத்தி​: ஸ்வர்கே³ வித்³யத இதி ஜ்ஞாத்வா ஸாநந்த³ம்’ ஸர்வ்வஸ்வஸ்யாபஹரணம் அஸஹத்⁴வஞ்ச|

For you both had compassion on them that were in chains, and joyfully accepted the plundering of your possessions, since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and an enduring one.

35 அதஏவ மஹாபுரஸ்காரயுக்தம்’ யுஷ்மாகம் உத்ஸாஹம்’ ந பரித்யஜத|

Therefore do not throw away your boldness, which has a great reward.

36 யதோ யூயம்’ யேநேஸ்²வரஸ்யேச்சா²ம்’ பாலயித்வா ப்ரதிஜ்ஞாயா​: ப²லம்’ லப⁴த்⁴வம்’ தத³ர்த²ம்’ யுஷ்மாபி⁴ ர்தை⁴ர்ய்யாவலம்ப³நம்’ கர்த்தவ்யம்’|

For you need patient endurance so that, having done the will of God, you may receive the promise.

37 யேநாக³ந்தவ்யம்’ ஸ ஸ்வல்பகாலாத் பரம் ஆக³மிஷ்யதி ந ச விலம்பி³ஷ்யதே|

"For in just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.

38 "புண்யவாந் ஜநோ விஸ்²வாஸேந ஜீவிஷ்யதி கிந்து யதி³ நிவர்த்ததே தர்ஹி மம மநஸ்தஸ்மிந் ந தோஷம்’ யாஸ்யதி| "

But the righteous will live by faith, and if he holds back, my soul has no pleasure in him."

39 கிந்து வயம்’ விநாஸ²ஜநிகாம்’ த⁴ர்ம்மாத் நிவ்ரு’த்திம்’ ந குர்வ்வாணா ஆத்மந​: பரித்ராணாய விஸ்²வாஸம்’ குர்வ்வாமஹே|

But we are not of those who shrink back to destruction, but of those who have faith to the saving of the soul.
