රෝමිණඃ 3
1 අපරඤ්ච යිහූදිනඃ කිං ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨත්වං? තථා ත්වක්ඡේදස්‍ය වා කිං ඵලං?
What then is the advantage of the Jew, or what is the profit of circumcision?
2 සර්ව්වථා බහූනි ඵලානි සන්ති, විශේෂත ඊශ්වරස්‍ය ශාස්ත්‍රං තේභ්‍යෝ(අ)දීයත|
Much, every way: chiefly, because they were intrusted with the oracles of God.
3 කෛශ්චිද් අවිශ්වසනේ කෘතේ තේෂාම් අවිශ්වසනාත් කිම් ඊශ්වරස්‍ය විශ්වාස්‍යතායා හානිරුත්පත්ස්‍යතේ?
For what if some did not believe? shall their incredulity make the faithfulness of God of no effect?
4 කේනාපි ප්‍රකාරේණ නහි| යද්‍යපි සර්ව්වේ මනුෂ්‍යා මිථ්‍යාවාදිනස්තථාපීශ්වරඃ සත්‍යවාදී| ශාස්ත්‍රේ යථා ලිඛිතමාස්තේ, අතස්ත්වන්තු ස්වවාක්‍යේන නිර්ද්දෝෂෝ හි භවිෂ්‍යසි| විචාරේ චෛව නිෂ්පාපෝ භවිෂ්‍යසි න සංශයඃ|
God forbid: yea, let God be acknowledged true, though every man be a liar; as it is written, That thou mightest be justified in thy words, and mightest overcome, when thou judgest.
5 අස්මාකම් අන්‍යායේන යදීශ්වරස්‍ය න්‍යායඃ ප්‍රකාශතේ තර්හි කිං වදිෂ්‍යාමඃ? අහං මානුෂාණාං කථාමිව කථාං කථයාමි, ඊශ්වරඃ සමුචිතං දණ්ඩං දත්ත්වා කිම් අන්‍යායී භවිෂ්‍යති?
"But if our unrighteousness confirm the righteousness of God, what shall we say? Is not God unrighteous, who inflicteth his wrath?" (I speak as a man) God forbid:
6 ඉත්ථං න භවතු, තථා සතීශ්වරඃ කථං ජගතෝ විචාරයිතා භවිෂ්‍යති?
for then how shall God judge the world?
7 මම මිථ්‍යාවාක්‍යවදනාද් යදීශ්වරස්‍ය සත්‍යත්වේන තස්‍ය මහිමා වර්ද්ධතේ තර්හි කස්මාදහං විචාරේ(අ)පරාධිත්වේන ගණ්‍යෝ භවාමි?
"But, say you, if the truth of God hath abounded unto his glory through my falshood, why yet am I also judged as a sinner?
8 මඞ්ගලාර්ථං පාපමපි කරණීයමිති වාක්‍යං ත්වයා කුතෝ නෝච්‍යතේ? කින්තු යෛරුච්‍යතේ තේ නිතාන්තං දණ්ඩස්‍ය පාත්‍රාණි භවන්ති; තථාපි තද්වාක්‍යම් අස්මාභිරප්‍යුච්‍යත ඉත්‍යස්මාකං ග්ලානිං කුර්ව්වන්තඃ කියන්තෝ ලෝකා වදන්ති|
and why may we not do evil that good may come?"---as we are injuriously charged, and as some affirm that we say; whose condemnation is just.
9 අන්‍යලෝකේභ්‍යෝ වයං කිං ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨාඃ? කදාචන නහි යතෝ යිහූදිනෝ (අ)න්‍යදේශිනශ්ච සර්ව්වඒව පාපස්‍යායත්තා ඉත්‍යස්‍ය ප්‍රමාණං වයං පූර්ව්වම් අදදාම|
"What then are we the better?" Not at all, in point of justification; for we have before proved that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin: as it is written,
10 ලිපි ර‍්‍යථාස්තේ, නෛකෝපි ධාර්ම්මිකෝ ජනඃ|
"There is none righteous, no not one;
11 තථා ඥානීශ්වරඥානී මානවඃ කෝපි නාස්ති හි|
there is none that understandeth; there is none that seeketh after God.
12 විමාර්ගගාමිනඃ සර්ව්වේ සර්ව්වේ දුෂ්කර්ම්මකාරිණඃ| ඒකෝ ජනෝපි නෝ තේෂාං සාධුකර්ම්ම කරෝති ච|
They are all gone out of the way, they are become unprofitable, there is none that practiseth goodness, no not one.
13 තථා තේෂාන්තු වෛ කණ්ඨා අනාවෘතශ්මශානවත්| ස්තුතිවාදං ප්‍රකුර්ව්වන්ති ජිහ්වාභිස්තේ තු කේවලං| තේෂාමෝෂ්ඨස්‍ය නිම්නේ තු විෂං තිෂ්ඨති සර්ප්පවත්|
Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips:
14 මුඛං තේෂාං හි ශාපේන කපටේන ච පූර‍්‍ය්‍යතේ|
whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:
15 රක්තපාතාය තේෂාං තු පදානි ක්‍ෂිප්‍රගානි ච|
their feet are swift to shed blood:
16 පථි තේෂාං මනුෂ්‍යාණාං නාශඃ ක්ලේශශ්ච කේවලඃ|
destruction and misery are in their ways:
17 තේ ජනා නහි ජානන්ති පන්ථානං සුඛදායිනං|
and the way of peace they have not known; and the fear of God is not before their eyes."
18 පරමේශාද් භයං යත්තත් තච්චක්‍ෂුෂෝරගෝචරං|
Now we know that whatsoever the law saith,
19 ව්‍යවස්ථායාං යද්‍යල්ලිඛති තද් ව්‍යවස්ථාධීනාන් ලෝකාන් උද්දිශ්‍ය ලිඛතීති වයං ජානීමඃ| තතෝ මනුෂ්‍යමාත්‍රෝ නිරුත්තරඃ සන් ඊශ්වරස්‍ය සාක්‍ෂාද් අපරාධී භවති|
it saith to those under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world obnoxious to the justice of God.
20 අතඒව ව්‍යවස්ථානුරූපෛඃ කර්ම්මභිඃ කශ්චිදපි ප්‍රාණීශ්වරස්‍ය සාක්‍ෂාත් සපුණ්‍යීකෘතෝ භවිතුං න ශක්‍ෂ්‍යති යතෝ ව්‍යවස්ථයා පාපඥානමාත්‍රං ජායතේ|
Wherefore by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before Him: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21 කින්තු ව්‍යවස්ථායාඃ පෘථග් ඊශ්වරේණ දේයං යත් පුණ්‍යං තද් ව්‍යවස්ථායා භවිෂ්‍යද්වාදිගණස්‍ය ච වචනෛඃ ප්‍රමාණීකෘතං සද් ඉදානීං ප්‍රකාශතේ|
But now, without the law, righteousness before God is manifested, being attested by the law and the prophets;
22 යීශුඛ්‍රීෂ්ටේ විශ්වාසකරණාද් ඊශ්වරේණ දත්තං තත් පුණ්‍යං සකලේෂු ප්‍රකාශිතං සත් සර්ව්වාන් විශ්වාසිනඃ ප්‍රති වර්ත්තතේ|
and this righteousness of God is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all believers; for there is no difference;
23 තේෂාං කෝපි ප්‍රභේදෝ නාස්ති, යතඃ සර්ව්වඒව පාපින ඊශ්වරීයතේජෝහීනාශ්ච ජාතාඃ|
for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God;
24 ත ඊශ්වරස්‍යානුග්‍රහාද් මූල්‍යං විනා ඛ්‍රීෂ්ටකෘතේන පරිත්‍රාණේන සපුණ්‍යීකෘතා භවන්ති|
being justified freely by his grace, because of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:
25 යස්මාත් ස්වශෝණිතේන විශ්වාසාත් පාපනාශකෝ බලී භවිතුං ස ඒව පූර්ව්වම් ඊශ්වරේණ නිශ්චිතඃ, ඉත්ථම් ඊශ්වරීයසහිෂ්ණුත්වාත් පුරාකෘතපාපානාං මාර්ජ්ජනකරණේ ස්වීයයාථාර්ථ්‍යං තේන ප්‍රකාශ්‍යතේ,
whom God hath appointed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, in the remission of past sins, according to the forbearance of God;
26 වර්ත්තමානකාලීයමපි ස්වයාථාර්ථ්‍යං තේන ප්‍රකාශ්‍යතේ, අපරං යීශෞ විශ්වාසිනං සපුණ්‍යීකුර්ව්වන්නපි ස යාථාර්ථිකස්තිෂ්ඨති|
for a demonstration, I say, of his righteousness at this time: that He might be just, and the justifier of him, that believeth in Jesus.
27 තර්හි කුත්‍රාත්මශ්ලාඝා? සා දූරීකෘතා; කයා ව්‍යවස්ථයා? කිං ක්‍රියාරූපව්‍යවස්ථයා? ඉත්ථං නහි කින්තු තත් කේවලවිශ්වාසරූපයා ව්‍යවස්ථයෛව භවති|
Where then is boasting? it is excluded: by what law? of works? no: but by the law of faith.
28 අතඒව ව්‍යවස්ථානුරූපාඃ ක්‍රියා විනා කේවලේන විශ්වාසේන මානවඃ සපුණ්‍යීකෘතෝ භවිතුං ශක්නෝතීත්‍යස්‍ය රාද්ධාන්තං දර්ශයාමඃ|
Therefore we conclude, that a man is justified by faith, without the works of the law:
29 ස කිං කේවලයිහූදිනාම් ඊශ්වරෝ භවති? භින්නදේශිනාම් ඊශ්වරෝ න භවති? භින්නදේශිනාමපි භවති;
or is He the God of the Jews only, and not also of the Gentiles?
30 යස්මාද් ඒක ඊශ්වරෝ විශ්වාසාත් ත්වක්ඡේදිනෝ විශ්වාසේනාත්වක්ඡේදිනශ්ච සපුණ්‍යීකරිෂ්‍යති|
surely of the Gentiles also: seeing it is one God who will justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision also through faith.
31 තර්හි විශ්වාසේන වයං කිං ව්‍යවස්ථාං ලුම්පාම? ඉත්ථං න භවතු වයං ව්‍යවස්ථාං සංස්ථාපයාම ඒව|
Do we then make the law of none effect through faith? God forbid: yea we establish the law.
