1 ප්‍රථමතෝ යේ සාක්‍ෂිණෝ වාක්‍යප්‍රචාරකාශ්චාසන් තේ(අ)ස්මාකං මධ්‍යේ යද්‍යත් සප්‍රමාණං වාක්‍යමර්පයන්ති ස්ම
Since many have undertaken to compile an account of the events that have been fulfilled among us,
2 තදනුසාරතෝ(අ)න්‍යේපි බහවස්තද්වෘත්තාන්තං රචයිතුං ප්‍රවෘත්තාඃ|
just as those who from the beginning were eyewitnesses and ministers of the word have delivered them to us,
3 අතඒව හේ මහාමහිමථියඵිල් ත්වං යා යාඃ කථා අශික්‍ෂ්‍යථාස්තාසාං දෘඪප්‍රමාණානි යථා ප්‍රාප්නෝෂි
it seemed good to me also, having carefully investigated all things from the beginning, to write an orderly account for yoʋ, most excellent Theophilus,
4 තදර්ථං ප්‍රථමමාරභ්‍ය තානි සර්ව්වාණි ඥාත්වාහමපි අනුක්‍රමාත් සර්ව්වවෘත්තාන්තාන් තුභ්‍යං ලේඛිතුං මතිමකාර්ෂම්|
so that yoʋ may know the certainty of the things about which yoʋ have been instructed.
5 යිහූදාදේශීයහේරෝද්නාමකේ රාජත්වං කුර්ව්වති අබීයයාජකස්‍ය පර‍්‍ය්‍යායාධිකාරී සිඛරියනාමක ඒකෝ යාජකෝ හාරෝණවංශෝද්භවා ඉලීශේවාඛ්‍යා
In the days of Herod, the king of Judea, there was a priest named Zechariah who belonged to the division of Abijah. His wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.
6 තස්‍ය ජායා ද්වාවිමෞ නිර්දෝෂෞ ප්‍රභෝඃ සර්ව්වාඥා ව්‍යවස්ථාශ්ච සංමන්‍ය ඊශ්වරදෘෂ්ටෞ ධාර්ම්මිකාවාස්තාම්|
They were both righteous before God, walking blamelessly in all the commandments and regulations of the Lord.
7 තයෝඃ සන්තාන ඒකෝපි නාසීත්, යත ඉලීශේවා බන්ධ්‍යා තෞ ද්වාවේව වෘද්ධාවභවතාම්|
But they had no children because Elizabeth was barren, and they were both advanced in their days.
8 යදා ස්වපර‍්‍ය්‍යානුක්‍රමේණ සිඛරිය ඊශ්වාස්‍ය සමක්‍ෂං යාජකීයං කර්ම්ම කරෝති
While Zechariah was serving as a priest before God when his division was on duty,
9 තදා යඥස්‍ය දිනපරිපාය්‍යා පරමේශ්වරස්‍ය මන්දිරේ ප්‍රවේශකාලේ ධූපජ්වාලනං කර්ම්ම තස්‍ය කරණීයමාසීත්|
he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood, to enter the temple of the Lord and burn incense.
10 තද්ධූපජ්වාලනකාලේ ලෝකනිවහේ ප්‍රාර්ථනාං කර්තුං බහිස්තිෂ්ඨති
At the hour of incense a great crowd was assembled outside, praying.
11 සති සිඛරියෝ යස්‍යාං වේද්‍යාං ධූපං ජ්වාලයති තද්දක්‍ෂිණපාර්ශ්වේ පරමේශ්වරස්‍ය දූත ඒක උපස්ථිතෝ දර්ශනං දදෞ|
Then an angel of the Lord appeared to Zechariah, standing at the right side of the altar of incense.
12 තං දෘෂ්ට්වා සිඛරිය උද්විවිජේ ශශඞ්කේ ච|
When Zechariah saw him, he was startled, and fear fell upon him.
13 තදා ස දූතස්තං බභාෂේ හේ සිඛරිය මා භෛස්තව ප්‍රාර්ථනා ග්‍රාහ්‍යා ජාතා තව භාර‍්‍ය්‍යා ඉලීශේවා පුත්‍රං ප්‍රසෝෂ්‍යතේ තස්‍ය නාම යෝහන් ඉති කරිෂ්‍යසි|
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for yoʋr prayer has been heard. Yoʋr wife Elizabeth will bear yoʋ a son, and yoʋ shall name him John.
14 කිඤ්ච ත්වං සානන්දඃ සහර්ෂශ්ච භවිෂ්‍යසි තස්‍ය ජන්මනි බහව ආනන්දිෂ්‍යන්ති ච|
Yoʋ will have joy and gladness, and many will rejoice at his birth,
15 යතෝ හේතෝඃ ස පරමේශ්වරස්‍ය ගෝචරේ මහාන් භවිෂ්‍යති තථා ද්‍රාක්‍ෂාරසං සුරාං වා කිමපි න පාස්‍යති, අපරං ජන්මාරභ්‍ය පවිත්‍රේණාත්මනා පරිපූර්ණඃ
for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He must never drink any wine or strong drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.
16 සන් ඉස්‍රායේල්වංශීයාන් අනේකාන් ප්‍රභෝඃ පරමේශ්වරස්‍ය මාර්ගමානේෂ්‍යති|
He will turn many of the sons of Israel to the Lord their God.
17 සන්තානාන් ප්‍රති පිතෘණාං මනාංසි ධර්ම්මඥානං ප්‍රත්‍යනාඥාග්‍රාහිණශ්ච පරාවර්ත්තයිතුං, ප්‍රභෝඃ පරමේශ්වරස්‍ය සේවාර්ථම් ඒකාං සජ්ජිතජාතිං විධාතුඤ්ච ස ඒලියරූපාත්මශක්තිප්‍රාප්තස්තස්‍යාග්‍රේ ගමිෂ්‍යති|
And he will go before the Lord in the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of fathers back to their children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the righteous, to make ready a people prepared for the Lord.”
18 තදා සිඛරියෝ දූතමවාදීත් කථමේතද් වේත්ස්‍යාමි? යතෝහං වෘද්ධෝ මම භාර‍්‍ය්‍යා ච වෘද්ධා|
Zechariah said to the angel, “How can I know this for certain? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in her days.”
19 තතෝ දූතඃ ප්‍රත්‍යුවාච පශ්‍යේශ්වරස්‍ය සාක්‍ෂාද්වර්ත්තී ජිබ්‍රායේල්නාමා දූතෝහං ත්වයා සහ කථාං ගදිතුං තුභ්‍යමිමාං ශුභවාර්ත්තාං දාතුඤ්ච ප්‍රේෂිතඃ|
The angel answered him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God and was sent to speak to yoʋ and bring yoʋ this good news.
20 කින්තු මදීයං වාක්‍යං කාලේ ඵලිෂ්‍යති තත් ත්වයා න ප්‍රතීතම් අතඃ කාරණාද් යාවදේව තානි න සේත්ස්‍යන්ති තාවත් ත්වං වක්තුංමශක්තෝ මූකෝ භව|
But behold, yoʋ will be silent and unable to speak until the day these things take place, because yoʋ did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled at their appointed time.”
21 තදානීං යේ යේ ලෝකාඃ සිඛරියමපෛක්‍ෂන්ත තේ මධ්‍යේමන්දිරං තස්‍ය බහුවිලම්බාද් ආශ්චර‍්‍ය්‍යං මේනිරේ|
Meanwhile, the people were waiting for Zechariah and wondering about his delay in the temple.
22 ස බහිරාගතෝ යදා කිමපි වාක්‍යං වක්තුමශක්තඃ සඞ්කේතං කෘත්වා නිඃශබ්දස්තස්‍යෞ තදා මධ්‍යේමන්දිරං කස්‍යචිද් දර්ශනං තේන ප්‍රාප්තම් ඉති සර්ව්වේ බුබුධිරේ|
When he came out, he was unable to speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple, because he kept making signs to them and remained unable to speak.
23 අනන්තරං තස්‍ය සේවනපර‍්‍ය්‍යායේ සම්පූර්ණේ සති ස නිජගේහං ජගාම|
And when the days of his service had come to an end, he returned to his home.
24 කතිපයදිනේෂු ගතේෂු තස්‍ය භාර‍්‍ය්‍යා ඉලීශේවා ගර්බ්භවතී බභූව
After those days his wife Elizabeth conceived and kept herself in seclusion for five months, saying,
25 පශ්චාත් සා පඤ්චමාසාන් සංගෝප්‍යාකථයත් ලෝකානාං සමක්‍ෂං මමාපමානං ඛණ්ඩයිතුං පරමේශ්වරෝ මයි දෘෂ්ටිං පාතයිත්වා කර්ම්මේදෘශං කෘතවාන්|
“The Lord has done this for me. In these days he has looked upon me with favor and taken away my reproach among the people.”
26 අපරඤ්ච තස්‍යා ගර්බ්භස්‍ය ෂෂ්ඨේ මාසේ ජාතේ ගාලීල්ප්‍රදේශීයනාසරත්පුරේ
In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town of Galilee called Nazareth,
27 දායූදෝ වංශීයාය යූෂඵ්නාම්නේ පුරුෂාය යා මරියම්නාමකුමාරී වාග්දත්තාසීත් තස්‍යාඃ සමීපං ජිබ්‍රායේල් දූත ඊශ්වරේණ ප්‍රහිතඃ|
to a virgin betrothed to a man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin's name was Mary.
28 ස ගත්වා ජගාද හේ ඊශ්වරානුගෘහීතකන්‍යේ තව ශුභං භූයාත් ප්‍රභුඃ පරමේශ්වරස්තව සහායෝස්ති නාරීණාං මධ්‍යේ ත්වමේව ධන්‍යා|
The angel came to her and said, “Greetings, O favored one, the Lord is with yoʋ! Blessed are yoʋ among women!”
29 තදානීං සා තං දෘෂ්ට්වා තස්‍ය වාක්‍යත උද්විජ්‍ය කීදෘශං භාෂණමිදම් ඉති මනසා චින්තයාමාස|
But when Mary saw him, she was greatly perplexed by his statement and began wondering what sort of greeting this could be.
30 තතෝ දූතෝ(අ)වදත් හේ මරියම් භයං මාකාර්ෂීඃ, ත්වයි පරමේශ්වරස්‍යානුග්‍රහෝස්ති|
Then the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for yoʋ have found favor with God.
31 පශ්‍ය ත්වං ගර්බ්භං ධෘත්වා පුත්‍රං ප්‍රසෝෂ්‍යසේ තස්‍ය නාම යීශුරිති කරිෂ්‍යසි|
And behold, yoʋ will conceive in yoʋr womb and give birth to a son, and yoʋ shall name him Jesus.
32 ස මහාන් භවිෂ්‍යති තථා සර්ව්වේභ්‍යඃ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨස්‍ය පුත්‍ර ඉති ඛ්‍යාස්‍යති; අපරං ප්‍රභුඃ පරමේශ්වරස්තස්‍ය පිතුර්දායූදඃ සිංහාසනං තස්මෛ දාස්‍යති;
He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David.
He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and of his kingdom there will be no end.” (aiōn g165)
34 තදා මරියම් තං දූතං බභාෂේ නාහං පුරුෂසඞ්ගං කරෝමි තර්හි කථමේතත් සම්භවිෂ්‍යති?
Mary said to the angel, “How will this be, since I am a virgin?”
35 තතෝ දූතෝ(අ)කථයත් පවිත්‍ර ආත්මා ත්වාමාශ්‍රායිෂ්‍යති තථා සර්ව්වශ්‍රේෂ්ඨස්‍ය ශක්තිස්තවෝපරි ඡායාං කරිෂ්‍යති තතෝ හේතෝස්තව ගර්බ්භාද් යඃ පවිත්‍රබාලකෝ ජනිෂ්‍යතේ ස ඊශ්වරපුත්‍ර ඉති ඛ්‍යාතිං ප්‍රාප්ස්‍යති|
The angel answered her, “The Holy Spirit will come upon yoʋ, and the power of the Most High will overshadow yoʋ; therefore the holy child that is to be born will be called the Son of God.
36 අපරඤ්ච පශ්‍ය තව ඥාතිරිලීශේවා යාං සර්ව්වේ බන්ධ්‍යාමවදන් ඉදානීං සා වාර්ද්ධක්‍යේ සන්තානමේකං ගර්බ්භේ(අ)ධාරයත් තස්‍ය ෂෂ්ඨමාසෝභූත්|
And behold, yoʋr relative Elizabeth has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren.
37 කිමපි කර්ම්ම නාසාධ්‍යම් ඊශ්වරස්‍ය|
For nothing is impossible with God.”
38 තදා මරියම් ජගාද, පශ්‍ය ප්‍රභේරහං දාසී මහ්‍යං තව වාක්‍යානුසාරේණ සර්ව්වමේතද් ඝටතාම්; අනනතරං දූතස්තස්‍යාඃ සමීපාත් ප්‍රතස්ථේ|
Then Mary said, “Behold, I am the servant of the Lord; may it happen to me according to yoʋr word.” And the angel left her.
39 අථ කතිපයදිනාත් පරං මරියම් තස්මාත් පර්ව්වතමයප්‍රදේශීයයිහූදායා නගරමේකං ශීඝ්‍රං ගත්වා
In those days Mary arose and went with haste to the hill country, to a town of Judah,
40 සිඛරියයාජකස්‍ය ගෘහං ප්‍රවිශ්‍ය තස්‍ය ජායාම් ඉලීශේවාං සම්බෝධ්‍යාවදත්|
where she entered the house of Zechariah and greeted Elizabeth.
41 තතෝ මරියමඃ සම්බෝධනවාක්‍යේ ඉලීශේවායාඃ කර්ණයෝඃ ප්‍රවිෂ්ටමාත්‍රේ සති තස්‍යා ගර්බ්භස්ථබාලකෝ නනර්ත්ත| තත ඉලීශේවා පවිත්‍රේණාත්මනා පරිපූර්ණා සතී
When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb, and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit.
42 ප්‍රෝච්චෛර්ගදිතුමාරේභේ, යෝෂිතාං මධ්‍යේ ත්වමේව ධන්‍යා, තව ගර්බ්භස්ථඃ ශිශුශ්ච ධන්‍යඃ|
Then she exclaimed with a loud voice, “Blessed are yoʋ among women, and blessed is the fruit of yoʋr womb!
43 ත්වං ප්‍රභෝර්මාතා, මම නිවේශනේ ත්වයා චරණාවර්පිතෞ, මමාද්‍ය සෞභාග්‍යමේතත්|
How has this happened to me that the mother of my Lord should come to me?
44 පශ්‍ය තව වාක්‍යේ මම කර්ණයෝඃ ප්‍රවිෂ්ටමාත්‍රේ සති මමෝදරස්ථඃ ශිශුරානන්දාන් නනර්ත්ත|
For behold, when the sound of yoʋr greeting came into my ears, the baby in my womb leaped for joy.
45 යා ස්ත්‍රී ව්‍යශ්වසීත් සා ධන්‍යා, යතෝ හේතෝස්තාං ප්‍රති පරමේශ්වරෝක්තං වාක්‍යං සර්ව්වං සිද්ධං භවිෂ්‍යති|
Blessed is she who has believed, for what the Lord has spoken to her will be fulfilled.”
46 තදානීං මරියම් ජගාද| ධන්‍යවාදං පරේශස්‍ය කරෝති මාමකං මනඃ|
Then Mary said, “My soul magnifies the Lord,
47 මමාත්මා තාරකේශේ ච සමුල්ලාසං ප්‍රගච්ඡති|
and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior,
48 අකරෝත් ස ප්‍රභු ර්දුෂ්ටිං ස්වදාස්‍යා දුර්ගතිං ප්‍රති| පශ්‍යාද්‍යාරභ්‍ය මාං ධන්‍යාං වක්‍ෂ්‍යන්ති පුරුෂාඃ සදා|
because he has looked favorably on the humble state of his servant. For behold, from now on all generations will call me blessed,
49 යඃ සර්ව්වශක්තිමාන් යස්‍ය නාමාපි ච පවිත්‍රකං| ස ඒව සුමහත්කර්ම්ම කෘතවාන් මන්නිමිත්තකං|
because the Mighty One has done great things for me; holy is his name.
50 යේ බිභ්‍යති ජනාස්තස්මාත් තේෂාං සන්තානපංක්තිෂු| අනුකම්පා තදීයා ච සර්ව්වදෛව සුතිෂ්ඨති|
From generation to generation his mercy is upon those who fear him.
51 ස්වබාහුබලතස්තේන ප්‍රාකාශ්‍යත පරාක්‍රමඃ| මනඃකුමන්ත්‍රණාසාර්ද්ධං විකීර‍්‍ය්‍යන්තේ(අ)භිමානිනඃ|
He has done a mighty deed with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the thoughts of their hearts.
52 සිංහාසනගතාල්ලෝකාන් බලිනශ්චාවරෝහ්‍ය සඃ| පදේෂූච්චේෂු ලෝකාංස්තු ක්‍ෂුද්‍රාන් සංස්ථාපයත්‍යපි|
He has brought down rulers from their thrones and exalted the lowly.
53 ක්‍ෂුධිතාන් මානවාන් ද්‍රව්‍යෛරුත්තමෛඃ පරිතර්ප්‍ය සඃ| සකලාන් ධනිනෝ ලෝකාන් විසෘජේද් රික්තහස්තකාන්|
He has filled the hungry with good things, but the rich he has sent away empty.
54 ඉබ්‍රාහීමි ච තද්වංශේ යා දයාස්ති සදෛව තාං| ස්මෘත්වා පුරා පිතෘණාං නෝ යථා සාක්‍ෂාත් ප්‍රතිශ්‍රුතං| (aiōn g165)
He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy,
55 ඉස්‍රායේල්සේවකස්තේන තථෝපක්‍රියතේ ස්වයං||
just as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and to his offspring forever.” (aiōn g165)
56 අනන්තරං මරියම් ප්‍රායේණ මාසත්‍රයම් ඉලීශේවයා සහෝෂිත්වා ව්‍යාඝුය්‍ය නිජනිවේශනං යයෞ|
And Mary remained with Elizabeth for about three months and then returned to her house.
57 තදනන්තරම් ඉලීශේවායාඃ ප්‍රසවකාල උපස්ථිතේ සති සා පුත්‍රං ප්‍රාසෝෂ්ට|
Now the time was fulfilled for Elizabeth to give birth, and she bore a son.
58 තතඃ පරමේශ්වරස්තස්‍යාං මහානුග්‍රහං කෘතවාන් ඒතත් ශ්‍රුත්වා සමීපවාසිනඃ කුටුම්බාශ්චාගත්‍ය තයා සහ මුමුදිරේ|
Then her neighbors and her relatives heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy with her, and they rejoiced with her.
59 තථාෂ්ටමේ දිනේ තේ බාලකස්‍ය ත්වචං ඡේත්තුම් ඒත්‍ය තස්‍ය පිතෘනාමානුරූපං තන්නාම සිඛරිය ඉති කර්ත්තුමීෂුඃ|
On the eighth day they came to circumcise the child, and they were going to name him Zechariah, after his father.
60 කින්තු තස්‍ය මාතාකථයත් තන්න, නාමාස්‍ය යෝහන් ඉති කර්ත්තව්‍යම්|
But the child's mother responded, “No! He is to be called John.”
61 තදා තේ ව්‍යාහරන් තව වංශමධ්‍යේ නාමේදෘශං කස්‍යාපි නාස්ති|
But they said to her, “There is no one among yoʋr relatives who has that name.”
62 තතඃ පරං තස්‍ය පිතරං සිඛරියං ප්‍රති සඞ්කේත්‍ය පප්‍රච්ඡුඃ ශිශෝඃ කිං නාම කාරිෂ්‍යතේ?
Then they began making signs to the child's father to find out what he wanted to name him.
63 තතඃ ස ඵලකමේකං යාචිත්වා ලිලේඛ තස්‍ය නාම යෝහන් භවිෂ්‍යති| තස්මාත් සර්ව්වේ ආශ්චර‍්‍ය්‍යං මේනිරේ|
So he asked for a tablet and wrote, “His name is John.” And they were all amazed.
64 තත්ක්‍ෂණං සිඛරියස්‍ය ජිහ්වාජාඩ්‍යේ(අ)පගතේ ස මුඛං ව්‍යාදාය ස්පෂ්ටවර්ණමුච්චාර‍්‍ය්‍ය ඊශ්වරස්‍ය ගුණානුවාදං චකාර|
At once Zechariah's mouth was opened and his tongue was released, and he began to speak, blessing God.
65 තස්මාච්චතුර්දික්ස්ථාඃ සමීපවාසිලෝකා භීතා ඒවමේතාඃ සර්ව්වාඃ කථා යිහූදායාඃ පර්ව්වතමයප්‍රදේශස්‍ය සර්ව්වත්‍ර ප්‍රචාරිතාඃ|
Then fear came upon all who dwelt around them, and in the entire hill country of Judea all these things were being discussed.
66 තස්මාත් ශ්‍රෝතාරෝ මනඃසු ස්ථාපයිත්වා කථයාම්බභූවුඃ කීදෘශෝයං බාලෝ භවිෂ්‍යති? අථ පරමේශ්වරස්තස්‍ය සහායෝභූත්|
All who heard about this laid it up in their hearts, saying, “What then will this child become?” And the hand of the Lord was with him.
67 තදා යෝහනඃ පිතා සිඛරියඃ පවිත්‍රේණාත්මනා පරිපූර්ණඃ සන් ඒතාදෘශං භවිෂ්‍යද්වාක්‍යං කථයාමාස|
Then Zechariah, the child's father, was filled with the Holy Spirit and prophesied:
68 ඉස්‍රායේලඃ ප්‍රභු ර‍්‍යස්තු ස ධන්‍යඃ පරමේශ්වරඃ| අනුගෘහ්‍ය නිජාල්ලෝකාන් ස ඒව පරිමෝචයේත්|
“Blessed be the Lord, the God of Israel, for he has visited his people and brought them redemption.
69 විපක්‍ෂජනහස්තේභ්‍යෝ යථා මෝච්‍යාමහේ වයං| යාවජ්ජීවඤ්ච ධර්ම්මේණ සාරල්‍යේන ච නිර්භයාඃ|
He has raised up for us a horn of salvation in the house of his servant David
70 සේවාමහෛ තමේවෛකම් ඒතත්කාරණමේව ච| ස්වකීයං සුපවිත්‍රඤ්ච සංස්මෘත්‍ය නියමං සදා|
(just as he spoke through the mouth of his holy prophets long ago), (aiōn g165)
71 කෘපයා පුරුෂාන් පූර්ව්වාන් නිකෂාර්ථාත්තු නඃ පිතුඃ| ඉබ්‍රාහීමඃ සමීපේ යං ශපථං කෘතවාන් පුරා|
salvation from our enemies and from the hand of all who hate us—
72 තමේව සඵලං කර්ත්තං තථා ශත්‍රුගණස්‍ය ච| ඍතීයාකාරිණශ්චෛව කරේභ්‍යෝ රක්‍ෂණාය නඃ|
to deal mercifully with our fathers and to remember his holy covenant,
the oath he swore to Abraham our father, to grant us
74 යථෝක්තවාන් තථා ස්වස්‍ය දායූදඃ සේවකස්‍ය තු|
that we, having been rescued from the hands of our enemies, might serve him without fear,
75 වංශේ ත්‍රාතාරමේකං ස සමුත්පාදිතවාන් ස්වයම්|
in holiness and righteousness before him all the days of our lives.
76 අතෝ හේ බාලක ත්වන්තු සර්ව්වේභ්‍යඃ ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨ ඒව යඃ| තස්‍යෛව භාවිවාදීති ප්‍රවිඛ්‍යාතෝ භවිෂ්‍යසි| අස්මාකං චරණාන් ක්‍ෂේමේ මාර්ගේ චාලයිතුං සදා| ඒවං ධ්වාන්තේ(අ)ර්ථතෝ මෘත්‍යෝශ්ඡායායාං යේ තු මානවාඃ|
And yoʋ, child, will be called a prophet of the Most High, for yoʋ will go before the presence of the Lord to prepare his ways,
77 උපවිෂ්ටාස්තු තානේව ප්‍රකාශයිතුමේව හි| කෘත්වා මහානුකම්පාං හි යාමේව පරමේශ්වරඃ|
to give his people knowledge of salvation through the remission of their sins,
78 ඌර්ද්ව්වාත් සූර‍්‍ය්‍යමුදාය්‍යෛවාස්මභ්‍යං ප්‍රාදාත්තු දර්ශනං| තයානුකම්පයා ස්වස්‍ය ලෝකානාං පාපමෝචනේ|
through the tender mercy of our God, by which the sunrise has visited us from on high,
79 පරිත්‍රාණස්‍ය තේභ්‍යෝ හි ඥානවිශ්‍රාණනාය ච| ප්‍රභෝ ර්මාර්ගං පරිෂ්කර්ත්තුං තස්‍යාග්‍රායී භවිෂ්‍යසි||
to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
80 අථ බාලකඃ ශරීරේණ බුද්ධ්‍යා ච වර්ද්ධිතුමාරේභේ; අපරඤ්ච ස ඉස්‍රායේලෝ වංශීයලෝකානාං සමීපේ යාවන්න ප්‍රකටීභූතස්තාස්තාවත් ප්‍රාන්තරේ න්‍යවසත්|
And the child grew and became strong in spirit, and he was in the wilderness until the day of his public appearance to Israel.
