යෝහනඃ 18
1 තාඃ කථාඃ කථයිත්වා යීශුඃ ශිෂ්‍යානාදාය කිද්‍රෝන්නාමකං ස්‍රෝත උත්තීර‍්‍ය්‍ය ශිෂ්‍යෛඃ සහ තත්‍රත්‍යෝද්‍යානං ප්‍රාවිශත්|
When Jesus had said these things, He went with His disciples across the Kidron ravine, where there was a garden, into which He and His disciples entered.
2 කින්තු විශ්වාසඝාතියිහූදාස්තත් ස්ථානං පරිචීයතේ යතෝ යීශුඃ ශිෂ්‍යෛඃ සාර්ද්ධං කදාචිත් තත් ස්ථානම් අගච්ඡත්|
Now Judas, who was betraying Him, also knew the place, because Jesus had often met there with His disciples.
3 තදා ස යිහූදාඃ සෛන්‍යගණං ප්‍රධානයාජකානාං ඵිරූශිනාඤ්ච පදාතිගණඤ්ච ගෘහීත්වා ප්‍රදීපාන් උල්කාන් අස්ත්‍රාණි චාදාය තස්මින් ස්ථාන උපස්ථිතවාන්|
Then Judas, leading a detachment of soldiers and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came there with lanterns, torches, and weapons.
4 ස්වං ප්‍රති යද් ඝටිෂ්‍යතේ තජ් ඥාත්වා යීශුරග්‍රේසරඃ සන් තානපෘච්ඡත් කං ගවේෂයථ?
Therefore Jesus, knowing everything that would happen to Him, went forward and asked them, “Who are you looking for?”
5 තේ ප්‍රත්‍යවදන්, නාසරතීයං යීශුං; තතෝ යීශුරවාදීද් අහමේව සඃ; තෛඃ සහ විශ්වාසඝාතී යිහූදාශ්චාතිෂ්ඨත්|
They answered, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus told them, “I AM.” Judas, who betrayed Him, also stood with them.
6 තදාහමේව ස තස්‍යෛතාං කථාං ශ්‍රුත්වෛව තේ පශ්චාදේත්‍ය භූමෞ පතිතාඃ|
Now when He told them, “I AM,” they drew back and fell to the ground.
7 තතෝ යීශුඃ පුනරපි පෘෂ්ඨවාන් කං ගවේෂයථ? තතස්තේ ප්‍රත්‍යවදන් නාසරතීයං යීශුං|
Then He asked them again, “Who are you looking for?” They said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
8 තදා යීශුඃ ප්‍රත්‍යුදිතවාන් අහමේව ස ඉමාං කථාමචකථම්; යදි මාමන්විච්ඡථ තර්හීමාන් ගන්තුං මා වාරයත|
Jesus answered, “I told you that I AM. So, if you are looking for me, let these go their way,”
9 ඉත්ථං භූතේ මහ්‍යං යාල්ලෝකාන් අදදාස්තේෂාම් ඒකමපි නාහාරයම් ඉමාං යාං කථාං ස ස්වයමකථයත් සා කථා සඵලා ජාතා|
that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “I have lost none of those who You gave me.”
10 තදා ශිමෝන්පිතරස්‍ය නිකටේ ඛඞ්ගල්ස්ථිතේඃ ස තං නිෂ්කෝෂං කෘත්වා මහායාජකස්‍ය මාල්ඛනාමානං දාසම් ආහත්‍ය තස්‍ය දක්‍ෂිණකර්ණං ඡින්නවාන්|
Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest’s servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
11 තතෝ යීශුඃ පිතරම් අවදත්, ඛඞ්ගං කෝෂේ ස්ථාපය මම පිතා මහ්‍යං පාතුං යං කංසම් අදදාත් තේනාහං කිං න පාස්‍යාමි?
So Jesus told Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath! Shouldn’t I drink the cup that my Father has given me?”
12 තදා සෛන්‍යගණඃ සේනාපති ර‍්‍යිහූදීයානාං පදාතයශ්ච යීශුං ඝෘත්වා බද්ධ්වා හානන්නාම්නඃ කියඵාඃ ශ්වශුරස්‍ය සමීපං ප්‍රථමම් අනයන්|
Then the detachment of soldiers and their commander and the officers of the Jews arrested Jesus and tied Him up.
13 ස කියඵාස්තස්මින් වත්සරේ මහායාජත්වපදේ නියුක්තඃ
They led Him away to Annas first, because he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was high priest that year.
14 සන් සාධාරණලෝකානාං මඞ්ගලාර්ථම් ඒකජනස්‍ය මරණමුචිතම් ඉති යිහූදීයෛඃ සාර්ද්ධම් අමන්ත්‍රයත්|
It was Caiaphas who advised the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 තදා ශිමෝන්පිතරෝ(අ)න්‍යෛකශිෂ්‍යශ්ච යීශෝඃ පශ්චාද් අගච්ඡතාං තස්‍යාන්‍යශිෂ්‍යස්‍ය මහායාජකේන පරිචිතත්වාත් ස යීශුනා සහ මහායාජකස්‍යාට්ටාලිකාං ප්‍රාවිශත්|
Simon Peter was following Jesus, and so was another disciple. Since the high priest knew that disciple, he entered with Jesus into the high priest’s court,
16 කින්තු පිතරෝ බහිර්ද්වාරස්‍ය සමීපේ(අ)තිෂ්ඨද් අතඒව මහායාජකේන පරිචිතඃ ස ශිෂ්‍යඃ පුනර්බහිර්ගත්වා දෞවායිකායෛ කථයිත්වා පිතරම් අභ්‍යන්තරම් ආනයත්|
but Peter was standing just outside the door. So the other disciple, who the high priest knew, went out and spoke to the woman who guarded the door, and brought Peter in.
17 තදා ස ද්වාරරක්‍ෂිකා පිතරම් අවදත් ත්වං කිං න තස්‍ය මානවස්‍ය ශිෂ්‍යඃ? තතඃ සෝවදද් අහං න භවාමි|
Then the maidservant who kept the door asked Peter, “You aren’t one of this man’s disciples, too, are you?” He said, “I am not.”
18 තතඃ පරං යත්ස්ථානේ දාසාඃ පදාතයශ්ච ශීතහේතෝරඞ්ගාරෛ ර්වහ්නිං ප්‍රජ්වාල්‍ය තාපං සේවිතවන්තස්තත්ස්ථානේ පිතරස්තිෂ්ඨන් තෛඃ සහ වහ්නිතාපං සේවිතුම් ආරභත|
Because it was cold, the servants and the officers were standing there warming themselves, having made a charcoal fire. Peter was also with them, standing and warming himself.
19 තදා ශිෂ්‍යේෂූපදේශේ ච මහායාජකේන යීශුඃ පෘෂ්ටඃ
Then the high priest asked Jesus about His disciples and His doctrine.
20 සන් ප්‍රත්‍යුක්තවාන් සර්ව්වලෝකානාං සමක්‍ෂං කථාමකථයං ගුප්තං කාමපි කථාං න කථයිත්වා යත් ස්ථානං යිහූදීයාඃ සතතං ගච්ඡන්ති තත්‍ර භජනගේහේ මන්දිරේ චාශික්‍ෂයං|
Jesus answered him, “I have spoken openly to the world. I always taught in synagogues, and in the temple, where all the Jews come together. I said nothing in secret.
21 මත්තඃ කුතඃ පෘච්ඡසි? යේ ජනා මදුපදේශම් අශෘණ්වන් තානේව පෘච්ඡ යද්‍යද් අවදං තේ තත් ජානින්ත|
Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me to tell you what I told them. They certainly know what I said.”
22 තදේත්ථං ප්‍රත්‍යුදිතත්වාත් නිකටස්ථපදාති ර‍්‍යීශුං චපේටේනාහත්‍ය ව්‍යාහරත් මහායාජකම් ඒවං ප්‍රතිවදසි?
When He had said these things, one of the officers who stood by hit Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Is that how you answer the high priest?”
23 තතෝ යීශුඃ ප්‍රතිගදිතවාන් යද්‍යයථාර්ථම් අචකථං තර්හි තස්‍යායථාර්ථස්‍ය ප්‍රමාණං දේහි, කින්තු යදි යථාර්ථං තර්හි කුතෝ හේතෝ ර්මාම් අතාඩයඃ?
Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, testify about the evil, but if I have spoken honestly, why do you hit me?”
24 පූර්ව්වං හානන් සබන්ධනං තං කියඵාමහායාජකස්‍ය සමීපං ප්‍රෛෂයත්|
Then Annas sent Him, still bound, to Caiaphas, the high priest.
25 ශිමෝන්පිතරස්තිෂ්ඨන් වහ්නිතාපං සේවතේ, ඒතස්මින් සමයේ කියන්තස්තම් අපෘච්ඡන් ත්වං කිම් ඒතස්‍ය ජනස්‍ය ශිෂ්‍යෝ න? තතඃ සෝපහ්නුත්‍යාබ්‍රවීද් අහං න භවාමි|
Now Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. Therefore they asked him, “You aren’t one of His disciples, too, are you?” He denied it, saying, “I am not!”
26 තදා මහායාජකස්‍ය යස්‍ය දාසස්‍ය පිතරඃ කර්ණමච්ඡිනත් තස්‍ය කුටුම්බඃ ප්‍රත්‍යුදිතවාන් උද්‍යානේ තේන සහ තිෂ්ඨන්තං ත්වාං කිං නාපශ්‍යං?
One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of the man whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Didn’t I see you in the garden with Him?”
27 කින්තු පිතරඃ පුනරපහ්නුත්‍ය කථිතවාන්; තදානීං කුක්කුටෝ(අ)රෞත්|
Peter then denied it again, and immediately a rooster crowed.
28 තදනන්තරං ප්‍රත්‍යූෂේ තේ කියඵාගෘහාද් අධිපතේ ර්ගෘහං යීශුම් අනයන් කින්තු යස්මින් අශුචිත්වේ ජාතේ තෛ ර්නිස්තාරෝත්සවේ න භෝක්තව්‍යං, තස්‍ය භයාද් යිහූදීයාස්තද්ගෘහං නාවිශන්|
Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas to the Praetorium. It was early morning. They themselves didn’t go into the Praetorium, so that they wouldn’t be defiled, and so that they might eat the Passover supper.
29 අපරං පීලාතෝ බහිරාගත්‍ය තාන් පෘෂ්ඨවාන් ඒතස්‍ය මනුෂ්‍යස්‍ය කං දෝෂං වදථ?
So Pilate came out to them and asked, “What charges do you bring against this man?”
30 තදා තේ පේත්‍යවදන් දුෂ්කර්ම්මකාරිණි න සති භවතඃ සමීපේ නෛනං සමාර්පයිෂ්‍යාමඃ|
They answered, “If this man wasn’t a criminal, we wouldn’t have handed him over to you.”
31 තතඃ පීලාතෝ(අ)වදද් යූයමේනං ගෘහීත්වා ස්වේෂාං ව්‍යවස්ථයා විචාරයත| තදා යිහූදීයාඃ ප්‍රත්‍යවදන් කස්‍යාපි මනුෂ්‍යස්‍ය ප්‍රාණදණ්ඩං කර්ත්තුං නාස්මාකම් අධිකාරෝ(අ)ස්ති|
Then Pilate told them, “You take Him and judge Him according to your Law.” Therefore the Jews said to him, “It’s illegal for us to put anyone to death.”
32 ඒවං සති යීශුඃ ස්වස්‍ය මෘත්‍යෞ යාං කථාං කථිතවාන් සා සඵලාභවත්|
This happened so that the words would be fulfilled which Jesus had spoken indicating the kind of death he was going to die.
33 තදනන්තරං පීලාතඃ පුනරපි තද් රාජගෘහං ගත්වා යීශුමාහූය පෘෂ්ටවාන් ත්වං කිං යිහූදීයානාං රාජා?
Then Pilate went back into the Praetorium, summoned Jesus, and asked Him, “Are You the King of the Jews?”
34 යීශුඃ ප්‍රත්‍යවදත් ත්වම් ඒතාං කථාං ස්වතඃ කථයසි කිමන්‍යඃ කශ්චින් මයි කථිතවාන්?
Jesus answered, “Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this about me?”
35 පීලාතෝ(අ)වදද් අහං කිං යිහූදීයඃ? තව ස්වදේශීයා විශේෂතඃ ප්‍රධානයාජකා මම නිකටේ ත්වාං සමාර්පයන, ත්වං කිං කෘතවාන්?
Pilate answered, “I’m not a Jew, am I? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?”
36 යීශුඃ ප්‍රත්‍යවදත් මම රාජ්‍යම් ඒතජ්ජගත්සම්බන්ධීයං න භවති යදි මම රාජ්‍යං ජගත්සම්බන්ධීයම් අභවිෂ්‍යත් තර්හි යිහූදීයානාං හස්තේෂු යථා සමර්පිතෝ නාභවං තදර්ථං මම සේවකා අයෝත්ස්‍යන් කින්තු මම රාජ්‍යම් ඓහිකං න|
Jesus answered, “My kingdom doesn’t belong to this world. If my kingdom did belong to this world, then my servants would be fighting to keep me from being delivered up to the Jews; but as it is, my kingdom isn’t from here.”
37 තදා පීලාතඃ කථිතවාන්, තර්හි ත්වං රාජා භවසි? යීශුඃ ප්‍රත්‍යුක්තවාන් ත්වං සත්‍යං කථයසි, රාජාහං භවාමි; සත්‍යතායාං සාක්‍ෂ්‍යං දාතුං ජනිං ගෘහීත්වා ජගත්‍යස්මින් අවතීර්ණවාන්, තස්මාත් සත්‍යධර්ම්මපක්‍ෂපාතිනෝ මම කථාං ශෘණ්වන්ති|
Pilate therefore asked Him, “So You are a king?” Jesus answered, “You are right in saying that I am a king. For this I have been born, and for this I have come into the world, to testify about the truth. Everyone who belongs to the truth listens to my voice.”
38 තදා සත්‍යං කිං? ඒතාං කථාං පෂ්ට්වා පීලාතඃ පුනරපි බහිර්ගත්වා යිහූදීයාන් අභාෂත, අහං තස්‍ය කමප්‍යපරාධං න ප්‍රාප්නෝමි|
“What is truth?” Pilate asked. After asking this, he went out again to the Jews and said, “I find no basis for a charge against Him,
39 නිස්තාරෝත්සවසමයේ යුෂ්මාභිරභිරුචිත ඒකෝ ජනෝ මයා මෝචයිතව්‍ය ඒෂා යුෂ්මාකං රීතිරස්ති, අතඒව යුෂ්මාකං නිකටේ යිහූදීයානාං රාජානං කිං මෝචයාමි, යුෂ්මාකම් ඉච්ඡා කා?
but you have a custom that I should release someone to you at the Passover. Therefore you decide: do you want me to release the King of the Jews to you?”
40 තදා තේ සර්ව්වේ රුවන්තෝ ව්‍යාහරන් ඒනං මානුෂං නහි බරබ්බාං මෝචය| කින්තු ස බරබ්බා දස්‍යුරාසීත්|
Then they all shouted back, saying, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
