යාකූබඃ 2
1 හේ මම භ්‍රාතරඃ, යූයම් අස්මාකං තේජස්විනඃ ප්‍රභෝ ර‍්‍යීශුඛ්‍රීෂ්ටස්‍ය ධර්ම්මං මුඛාපේක්‍ෂයා න ධාරයත|
My brothers, practice your faith in our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, without showing partiality.
2 යතෝ යුෂ්මාකං සභායාං ස්වර්ණාඞ්ගුරීයකයුක්තේ භ්‍රාජිෂ්ණුපරිච්ඡදේ පුරුෂේ ප්‍රවිෂ්ටේ මලිනවස්ත්‍රේ කස්මිංශ්චිද් දරිද්‍රේ(අ)පි ප්‍රවිෂ්ටේ
Suppose a man in fine clothing comes into your assembly wearing a gold ring, and a poor man in filthy clothing also comes in.
3 යූයං යදි තං භ්‍රාජිෂ්ණුපරිච්ඡදවසානං ජනං නිරීක්‍ෂ්‍ය වදේත භවාන් අත්‍රෝත්තමස්ථාන උපවිශත්විති කිඤ්ච තං දරිද්‍රං යදි වදේත ත්වම් අමුස්මින් ස්ථානේ තිෂ්ඨ යද්වාත්‍ර මම පාදපීඨ උපවිශේති,
If you pay attention to the man who is wearing fine clothing and say to him, “Yoʋ sit here in a good place,” but you say to the poor man, “Yoʋ stand there, or sit here under my footstool,”
4 තර්හි මනඃසු විශේෂ්‍ය යූයං කිං කුතර්කෛඃ කුවිචාරකා න භවථ?
have you not made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?
5 හේ මම ප්‍රියභ්‍රාතරඃ, ශෘණුත, සංසාරේ යේ දරිද්‍රාස්තාන් ඊශ්වරෝ විශ්වාසේන ධනිනඃ ස්වප්‍රේමකාරිභ්‍යශ්ච ප්‍රතිශ්‍රුතස්‍ය රාජ්‍යස්‍යාධිකාරිණඃ කර්ත්තුං කිං න වරීතවාන්? කින්තු දරිද්‍රෝ යුෂ්මාභිරවඥායතේ|
Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen the poor of the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that he has promised to those who love him?
6 ධනවන්ත ඒව කිං යුෂ්මාන් නෝපද්‍රවන්ති බලාච්ච විචාරාසනානාං සමීපං න නයන්ති?
But you have dishonored the poor man. Is it not the rich who oppress you? Are they not the ones who drag you into court?
7 යුෂ්මදුපරි පරිකීර්ත්තිතං පරමං නාම කිං තෛරේව න නින්ද්‍යතේ?
Do they not blaspheme the good name by which you are called?
8 කිඤ්ච ත්වං ස්වසමීපවාසිනි ස්වාත්මවත් ප්‍රීයස්ව, ඒතච්ඡාස්ත්‍රීයවචනානුසාරතෝ යදි යූයං රාජකීයව්‍යවස්ථාං පාලයථ තර්හි භද්‍රං කුරුථ|
If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “Yoʋ shall love yoʋr neighbor as yoʋrself,” you do well.
9 යදි ච මුඛාපේක්‍ෂාං කුරුථ තර්හි පාපම් ආචරථ ව්‍යවස්ථයා චාඥාලඞ්ඝින ඉව දූෂ්‍යධ්වේ|
But if you show partiality, you commit sin and are convicted by the law as transgressors.
10 යතෝ යඃ කශ්චිත් කෘත්ස්නාං ව්‍යවස්ථාං පාලයති ස යද්‍යේකස්මින් විධෞ ස්ඛලති තර්හි සර්ව්වේෂාම් අපරාධී භවති|
For whoever keeps the entire law but stumbles in one point has become guilty of it all.
11 යතෝ හේතෝස්ත්වං පරදාරාන් මා ගච්ඡේති යඃ කථිතවාන් ස ඒව නරහත්‍යාං මා කුර‍්‍ය්‍යා ඉත්‍යපි කථිතවාන් තස්මාත් ත්වං පරදාරාන් න ගත්වා යදි නරහත්‍යාං කරෝෂි තර්හි ව්‍යවස්ථාලඞ්ඝී භවසි|
For he who said, “Yoʋ shall not commit adultery,” also said, “Yoʋ shall not murder.” Now if yoʋ do not commit adultery but do commit murder, yoʋ have become a transgressor of the law.
12 මුක්තේ ර්ව්‍යවස්ථාතෝ යේෂාං විචාරේණ භවිතව්‍යං තාදෘශා ලෝකා ඉව යූයං කථාං කථයත කර්ම්ම කුරුත ච|
Speak and act as those who will be judged by the law of liberty.
13 යෝ දයාං නාචරති තස්‍ය විචාරෝ නිර්ද්දයේන කාරිෂ්‍යතේ, කින්තු දයා විචාරම් අභිභවිෂ්‍යති|
For judgment is without mercy to anyone who has not shown mercy; mercy triumphs over judgment.
14 හේ මම භ්‍රාතරඃ, මම ප්‍රත්‍යයෝ(අ)ස්තීති යඃ කථයති තස්‍ය කර්ම්මාණි යදි න විද්‍යන්ත තර්හි තේන කිං ඵලං? තේන ප්‍රත්‍යයේන කිං තස්‍ය පරිත්‍රාණං භවිතුං ශක්නෝති?
What is the benefit, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him?
15 කේෂුචිද් භ්‍රාතෘෂු භගිනීෂු වා වසනහීනේෂු ප්‍රාත්‍යහිකාහාරහීනේෂු ච සත්සු යුෂ්මාකං කෝ(අ)පි තේභ්‍යඃ ශරීරාර්ථං ප්‍රයෝජනීයානි ද්‍රව්‍යාණි න දත්වා යදි තාන් වදේත්,
If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacks daily food,
16 යූයං සකුශලං ගත්වෝෂ්ණගාත්‍රා භවත තෘප්‍යත චේති තර්හ්‍යේතේන කිං ඵලං?
and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them anything to address their physical needs, what is the benefit?
17 තද්වත් ප්‍රත්‍යයෝ යදි කර්ම්මභි ර‍්‍යුක්තෝ න භවේත් තර්හ්‍යේකාකිත්වාත් මෘත ඒවාස්තේ|
In the same way faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.
18 කිඤ්ච කශ්චිද් ඉදං වදිෂ්‍යති තව ප්‍රත්‍යයෝ විද්‍යතේ මම ච කර්ම්මාණි විද්‍යන්තේ, ත්වං කර්ම්මහීනං ස්වප්‍රත්‍යයං මාං දර්ශය තර්හ්‍යහමපි මත්කර්ම්මභ්‍යඃ ස්වප්‍රත්‍යයං ත්වාං දර්ශයිෂ්‍යාමි|
But someone will say, “Yoʋ have faith, and I have works.” Show me yoʋr faith by yoʋr works, and I, by my works, will show yoʋ my faith.
19 ඒක ඊශ්වරෝ (අ)ස්තීති ත්වං ප්‍රත්‍යේෂි| භද්‍රං කරෝෂි| භූතා අපි තත් ප්‍රතියන්ති කම්පන්තේ ච|
Yoʋ believe that God is one; yoʋ do well. Even the demons believe—and shudder!
20 කින්තු හේ නිර්බ්බෝධමානව, කර්ම්මහීනඃ ප්‍රත්‍යයෝ මෘත ඒවාස්ත්‍යේතද් අවගන්තුං කිම් ඉච්ඡසි?
Do yoʋ want to be shown, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead?
21 අස්මාකං පූර්ව්වපුරුෂෝ ය ඉබ්‍රාහීම් ස්වපුත්‍රම් ඉස්හාකං යඥවේද්‍යාම් උත්සෘෂ්ටවාන් ස කිං කර්ම්මභ්‍යෝ න සපුණ්‍යීකෘතඃ?
Was not our father Abraham justified by works when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
22 ප්‍රත්‍යයේ තස්‍ය කර්ම්මණාං සහකාරිණි ජාතේ කර්ම්මභිඃ ප්‍රත්‍යයඃ සිද්ධෝ (අ)භවත් තත් කිං පශ්‍යසි?
Do yoʋ see how faith was active along with his works, and by works his faith was brought to completion?
23 ඉත්ථඤ්චේදං ශාස්ත්‍රීයවචනං සඵලම් අභවත්, ඉබ්‍රාහීම් පරමේශ්වරේ විශ්වසිතවාන් තච්ච තස්‍ය පුණ්‍යායාගණ්‍යත ස චේශ්වරස්‍ය මිත්‍ර ඉති නාම ලබ්ධවාන්|
And the Scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness,” and he was called a friend of God.
24 පශ්‍යත මානවඃ කර්ම්මභ්‍යඃ සපුණ්‍යීක්‍රියතේ න චෛකාකිනා ප්‍රත්‍යයේන|
You see then that a person is justified by works, and not by faith alone.
25 තද්වද් යා රාහබ්නාමිකා වාරාඞ්ගනා චාරාන් අනුගෘහ්‍යාපරේණ මාර්ගේණ විසසර්ජ සාපි කිං කර්ම්මභ්‍යෝ න සපුණ්‍යීකෘතා?
In the same way, was not Rahab the prostitute also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out by another way?
26 අතඒවාත්මහීනෝ දේහෝ යථා මෘතෝ(අ)ස්ති තථෛව කර්ම්මහීනඃ ප්‍රත්‍යයෝ(අ)පි මෘතෝ(අ)ස්ති|
For just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is also dead.
