ਗਾਲਾਤਿਨਃ 4
1 ਅਹੰ ਵਦਾਮਿ ਸਮ੍ਪਦਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਯਾਵਦ੍ ਬਾਲਸ੍ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤਿ ਤਾਵਤ੍ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਸ੍ਵਸ੍ਯਾਧਿਪਤਿਃ ਸੰਨਪਿ ਸ ਦਾਸਾਤ੍ ਕੇਨਾਪਿ ਵਿਸ਼਼ਯੇਣ ਨ ਵਿਸ਼ਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇ
But I say that so long as the heir is a child, he is no different from a slave, though he is lord of all;
2 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਪਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਨਿਰੂਪਿਤੰ ਸਮਯੰ ਯਾਵਤ੍ ਪਾਲਕਾਨਾਂ ਧਨਾਧ੍ਯਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਣਾਞ੍ਚ ਨਿਘ੍ਨਸ੍ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤਿ|
but is under guardians and stewards until the day appointed by the father.
3 ਤਦ੍ਵਦ੍ ਵਯਮਪਿ ਬਾਲ੍ਯਕਾਲੇ ਦਾਸਾ ਇਵ ਸੰਸਾਰਸ੍ਯਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਰਮਾਲਾਯਾ ਅਧੀਨਾ ਆਸ੍ਮਹੇ|
So we also, when we were children, were held in bondage under the elemental principles of the world.
4 ਅਨਨ੍ਤਰੰ ਸਮਯੇ ਸਮ੍ਪੂਰ੍ਣਤਾਂ ਗਤਵਤਿ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਧੀਨਾਨਾਂ ਮੋਚਨਾਰ੍ਥਮ੍
But when the fullness of the time came, God sent out his Son, born to a woman, born under the law,
5 ਅਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਤ੍ਵਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤ੍ਯਰ੍ਥਞ੍ਚੇਸ਼੍ਵਰਃ ਸ੍ਤ੍ਰਿਯਾ ਜਾਤੰ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯਾ ਅਧਿਨੀਭੂਤਞ੍ਚ ਸ੍ਵਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਪ੍ਰੇਸ਼਼ਿਤਵਾਨ੍|
that he might redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive the adoption as sons.
6 ਯੂਯੰ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਾ ਅਭਵਤ ਤਤ੍ਕਾਰਣਾਦ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਃ ਸ੍ਵਪੁਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯਾਤ੍ਮਾਨਾਂ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕਮ੍ ਅਨ੍ਤਃਕਰਣਾਨਿ ਪ੍ਰਹਿਤਵਾਨ੍ ਸ ਚਾਤ੍ਮਾ ਪਿਤਃ ਪਿਤਰਿਤ੍ਯਾਹ੍ਵਾਨੰ ਕਾਰਯਤਿ|
And because you are sons, God sent out the Spirit of his Son into our hearts, crying, "Abba, Father."
7 ਅਤ ਇਦਾਨੀਂ ਯੂਯੰ ਨ ਦਾਸਾਃ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਾ ਏਵ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਤ੍ਵਾੱਚ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੇਨੇਸ਼੍ਵਰੀਯਸਮ੍ਪਦਧਿਕਾਰਿਣੋ(ਅ)ਪ੍ਯਾਧ੍ਵੇ|
So you are no longer a slave, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God.
8 ਅਪਰਞ੍ਚ ਪੂਰ੍ੱਵੰ ਯੂਯਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੰ ਨ ਜ੍ਞਾਤ੍ਵਾ ਯੇ ਸ੍ਵਭਾਵਤੋ(ਅ)ਨੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਸ੍ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਦਾਸਤ੍ਵੇ(ਅ)ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਤ|
However at that time, not knowing God, you were slaves to those who by nature are not gods.
9 ਇਦਾਨੀਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੰ ਜ੍ਞਾਤ੍ਵਾ ਯਦਿ ਵੇਸ਼੍ਵਰੇਣ ਜ੍ਞਾਤਾ ਯੂਯੰ ਕਥੰ ਪੁਨਸ੍ਤਾਨਿ ਵਿਫਲਾਨਿ ਤੁੱਛਾਨਿ ਚਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਰਾਣਿ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਪਰਾਵਰ੍ੱਤਿਤੁੰ ਸ਼ਕ੍ਨੁਥ? ਯੂਯੰ ਕਿੰ ਪੁਨਸ੍ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਦਾਸਾ ਭਵਿਤੁਮਿੱਛਥ?
But now that you have come to know God, or rather to be known by God, why do you turn back again to the weak and miserable elemental principles, to which you desire to be enslaved all over again?
10 ਯੂਯੰ ਦਿਵਸਾਨ੍ ਮਾਸਾਨ੍ ਤਿਥੀਨ੍ ਸੰਵਤ੍ਸਰਾਂਸ਼੍ਚ ਸੰਮਨ੍ਯਧ੍ਵੇ|
You observe days, months, seasons, and years.
11 ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਮਯਾ ਯਃ ਪਰਿਸ਼੍ਰਮੋ(ਅ)ਕਾਰਿ ਸ ਵਿਫਲੋ ਜਾਤ ਇਤਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਧ੍ਯਹੰ ਬਿਭੇਮਿ|
I am afraid for you, that I might have wasted my labor for you.
12 ਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰਃ, ਅਹੰ ਯਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਿ ਯੂਯਮਪਿ ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ਾ ਭਵਤੇਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਾਰ੍ਥਯੇ ਯਤੋ(ਅ)ਹਮਪਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮੱਤੁਲ੍ਯੋ(ਅ)ਭਵੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਭਿ ਰ੍ਮਮ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਨਾਪਰਾੱਧੰ|
I beg you, brothers, become as I am, for I also have become as you are. You did me no wrong,
13 ਪੂਰ੍ੱਵਮਹੰ ਕਲੇਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਦੌਰ੍ੱਬਲ੍ਯੇਨ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਸੁਸੰਵਾਦਮ੍ ਅਜ੍ਞਾਪਯਮਿਤਿ ਯੂਯੰ ਜਾਨੀਥ|
but you know that in physical weakness I preached the gospel to you the first time;
14 ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਮਮ ਪਰੀਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਕੰ ਸ਼ਾਰੀਰਕ੍ਲੇਸ਼ੰ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟ੍ਵਾ ਯੂਯੰ ਮਾਮ੍ ਅਵਜ੍ਞਾਯ ਰੁʼਤੀਯਿਤਵਨ੍ਤਸ੍ਤੰਨਹਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਦੂਤਮਿਵ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਾਤ੍ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਮਿਵ ਵਾ ਮਾਂ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹੀਤਵਨ੍ਤਃ|
and though my condition was a trial to you, you did not despise nor reject; but you received me as an angel of God, even as Messiah Jesus.
15 ਅਤਸ੍ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਯਾ ਧਨ੍ਯਤਾਭਵਤ੍ ਸਾ ੱਕ ਗਤਾ? ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਯੂਯੰ ਯਦਿ ਸ੍ਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਨਯਨਾਨ੍ਯੁਤ੍ਪਾਟ੍ਯ ਮਹ੍ਯੰ ਦਾਤੁਮ੍ ਅਸ਼ਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਤ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਤਦਪ੍ਯਕਰਿਸ਼਼੍ਯਤੇਤਿ ਪ੍ਰਮਾਣਮ੍ ਅਹੰ ਦਦਾਮਿ|
Where was the blessing you enjoyed? For I testify to you that, if possible, you would have plucked out your eyes and given them to me.
16 ਸਾਮ੍ਪ੍ਰਤਮਹੰ ਸਤ੍ਯਵਾਦਿਤ੍ਵਾਤ੍ ਕਿੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਰਿਪੁ ਰ੍ਜਾਤੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਿ?
So then, have I become your enemy by telling you the truth?
17 ਤੇ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਤ੍ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤੇ ਸ੍ਪਰ੍ੱਧਨ੍ਤੇ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸਾ ਸ੍ਪਰ੍ੱਧਾ ਕੁਤ੍ਸਿਤਾ ਯਤੋ ਯੂਯੰ ਤਾਨਧਿ ਯਤ੍ ਸ੍ਪਰ੍ੱਧਧ੍ਵੰ ਤਦਰ੍ਥੰ ਤੇ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰੁʼਥਕ੍ ਕਰ੍ੱਤੁਮ੍ ਇੱਛਨ੍ਤਿ|
They zealously seek you, but for no good purpose; they desire to alienate you, that you may be zealous for them.
18 ਕੇਵਲੰ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਤ੍ਸਮੀਪੇ ਮਮੋਪਸ੍ਥਿਤਿਸਮਯੇ ਤੰਨਹਿ, ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਦੈਵ ਭਦ੍ਰਮਧਿ ਸ੍ਪਰ੍ੱਧਨੰ ਭਦ੍ਰੰ|
But it is always good to be zealous in a good cause, and not only when I am present with you.
19 ਹੇ ਮਮ ਬਾਲਕਾਃ, ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਦਨ੍ਤ ਰ੍ਯਾਵਤ੍ ਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੋ ਮੂਰ੍ਤਿਮਾਨ੍ ਨ ਭਵਤਿ ਤਾਵਦ੍ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਤ੍ਕਾਰਣਾਤ੍ ਪੁਨਃ ਪ੍ਰਸਵਵੇਦਨੇਵ ਮਮ ਵੇਦਨਾ ਜਾਯਤੇ|
My children, of whom I am again in travail until Messiah is formed in you—
20 ਅਹਮਿਦਾਨੀਂ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਕੰ ਸੰਨਿਧਿੰ ਗਤ੍ਵਾ ਸ੍ਵਰਾਨ੍ਤਰੇਣ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਸਮ੍ਭਾਸ਼਼ਿਤੁੰ ਕਾਮਯੇ ਯਤੋ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨਧਿ ਵ੍ਯਾਕੁਲੋ(ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਿ|
but I could wish to be present with you now, and to change my tone, for I am perplexed about you.
21 ਹੇ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਧੀਨਤਾਕਾਙ੍ਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਣਃ ਯੂਯੰ ਕਿੰ ਵ੍ਯਵਸ੍ਥਾਯਾ ਵਚਨੰ ਨ ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹ੍ਲੀਥ?
Tell me, you that desire to be under the law, do you not listen to the law?
22 ਤਨ੍ਮਾਂ ਵਦਤ| ਲਿਖਿਤਮਾਸ੍ਤੇ, ਇਬ੍ਰਾਹੀਮੋ ਦ੍ਵੌ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਾਵਾਸਾਤੇ ਤਯੋਰੇਕੋ ਦਾਸ੍ਯਾਂ ਦ੍ਵਿਤੀਯਸ਼੍ਚ ਪਤ੍ਨ੍ਯਾਂ ਜਾਤਃ|
For it is written that Abraham had two sons, one by the slave woman, and one by the free woman.
23 ਤਯੋ ਰ੍ਯੋ ਦਾਸ੍ਯਾਂ ਜਾਤਃ ਸ ਸ਼ਾਰੀਰਿਕਨਿਯਮੇਨ ਜਜ੍ਞੇ ਯਸ਼੍ਚ ਪਤ੍ਨ੍ਯਾਂ ਜਾਤਃ ਸ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਜ੍ਞਯਾ ਜਜ੍ਞੇ|
However, the son by the slave woman was born according to the flesh, but the son by the free woman was born through promise.
24 ਇਦਮਾਖ੍ਯਾਨੰ ਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼਼੍ਟਨ੍ਤਸ੍ਵਰੂਪੰ| ਤੇ ਦ੍ਵੇ ਯੋਸ਼਼ਿਤਾਵੀਸ਼੍ਵਰੀਯਸਨ੍ਧੀ ਤਯੋਰੇਕਾ ਸੀਨਯਪਰ੍ੱਵਤਾਦ੍ ਉਤ੍ਪੰਨਾ ਦਾਸਜਨਯਿਤ੍ਰੀ ਚ ਸਾ ਤੁ ਹਾਜਿਰਾ|
These things contain an allegory, for these are two covenants. One is from Mount Sinai, bearing children to slavery, which is Hagar.
25 ਯਸ੍ਮਾਦ੍ ਹਾਜਿਰਾਸ਼ਬ੍ਦੇਨਾਰਵਦੇਸ਼ਸ੍ਥਸੀਨਯਪਰ੍ੱਵਤੋ ਬੋਧ੍ਯਤੇ, ਸਾ ਚ ਵਰ੍ੱਤਮਾਨਾਯਾ ਯਿਰੂਸ਼ਾਲਮ੍ਪੁਰ੍ੱਯਾਃ ਸਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੀ| ਯਤਃ ਸ੍ਵਬਾਲੈਃ ਸਹਿਤਾ ਸਾ ਦਾਸਤ੍ਵ ਆਸ੍ਤੇ|
For this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and represents Jerusalem that exists now, for she is in slavery with her children.
26 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗੀਯਾ ਯਿਰੂਸ਼ਾਲਮ੍ਪੁਰੀ ਪਤ੍ਨੀ ਸਰ੍ੱਵੇਸ਼਼ਾਮ੍ ਅਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਮਾਤਾ ਚਾਸ੍ਤੇ|
But the Jerusalem that is above is free, and she is our mother.
27 ਯਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੰ ਲਿਖਿਤਮ੍ ਆਸ੍ਤੇ, "ਵਨ੍ਧ੍ਯੇ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਹੀਨੇ ਤ੍ਵੰ ਸ੍ਵਰੰ ਜਯਜਯੰ ਕੁਰੁ| ਅਪ੍ਰਸੂਤੇ ਤ੍ਵਯੋੱਲਾਸੋ ਜਯਾਸ਼ਬ੍ਦਸ਼੍ਚ ਗੀਯਤਾਂ| ਯਤ ਏਵ ਸਨਾਥਾਯਾ ਯੋਸ਼਼ਿਤਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਤੇ ਰ੍ਗਣਾਤ੍| ਅਨਾਥਾ ਯਾ ਭਵੇੰਨਾਰੀ ਤਦਪਤ੍ਯਾਨਿ ਭੂਰਿਸ਼ਃ|| "
For it is written, "Rejoice, you barren who do not bear. Break forth and shout, you that do not travail. For more are the children of the desolate than of her who has a husband."
28 ਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਾਤ੍ਰੁʼਗਣ, ਇਮ੍ਹਾਕ੍ ਇਵ ਵਯੰ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਜ੍ਞਯਾ ਜਾਤਾਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਾਃ|
Now you, brothers, as Isaac was, are children of promise.
29 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਤਦਾਨੀਂ ਸ਼ਾਰੀਰਿਕਨਿਯਮੇਨ ਜਾਤਃ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੋ ਯਦ੍ਵਦ੍ ਆਤ੍ਮਿਕਨਿਯਮੇਨ ਜਾਤੰ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਮ੍ ਉਪਾਦ੍ਰਵਤ੍ ਤਥਾਧੁਨਾਪਿ|
But as then, he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
30 ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸ਼ਾਸ੍ਤ੍ਰੇ ਕਿੰ ਲਿਖਿਤੰ? "ਤ੍ਵਮ੍ ਇਮਾਂ ਦਾਸੀਂ ਤਸ੍ਯਾਃ ਪੁਤ੍ਰਞ੍ਚਾਪਸਾਰਯ ਯਤ ਏਸ਼਼ ਦਾਸੀਪੁਤ੍ਰਃ ਪਤ੍ਨੀਪੁਤ੍ਰੇਣ ਸਮੰ ਨੋੱਤਰਾਧਿਕਾਰੀ ਭਵਿੱਯਤੀਤਿ| "
However what does the Scripture say? "Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman will not inherit with the son of the free woman."
31 ਅਤਏਵ ਹੇ ਭ੍ਰਾਤਰਃ, ਵਯੰ ਦਾਸ੍ਯਾਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਾ ਨ ਭੂਤ੍ਵਾ ਪਾਤ੍ਨ੍ਯਾਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨਾ ਭਵਾਮਃ|
So then, brothers, we are not children of a handmaid, but of the free woman.
