੧ ਯੋਹਨਃ 5

1 ਯੀਸ਼ੁਰਭਿਸ਼਼ਿਕ੍ਤਸ੍ਤ੍ਰਾਤੇਤਿ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਦ੍ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਾਸਿਤਿ ਸ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤਃ; ਅਪਰੰ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਤ੍ ਜਨਯਿਤਰਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਯਤੇ ਸ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤੇ ਜਨੇ (ਅ)ਪਿ ਪ੍ਰੀਯਤੇ|

Whoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ hath been born of God; and every one that loveth him that begat, loveth also him that hath been begotten of him.

2 ਵਯਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਸਨ੍ਤਾਨੇਸ਼਼ੁ ਪ੍ਰੀਯਾਮਹੇ ਤਦ੍ ਅਨੇਨ ਜਾਨੀਮੋ ਯਦ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੇ ਪ੍ਰੀਯਾਮਹੇ ਤਸ੍ਯਾਜ੍ਞਾਃ ਪਾਲਯਾਮਸ਼੍ਚ|

By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and do his commandments.

3 ਯਤ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੇ ਯਤ੍ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਤਤ੍ ਤਦੀਯਾਜ੍ਞਾਪਾਲਨੇਨਾਸ੍ਮਾਭਿਃ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਯਿਤਵ੍ਯੰ, ਤਸ੍ਯਾਜ੍ਞਾਸ਼੍ਚ ਕਠੋਰਾ ਨ ਭਵਨ੍ਤਿ|

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not burdensome,

4 ਯਤੋ ਯਃ ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਦ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤਃ ਸ ਸੰਸਾਰੰ ਜਯਤਿ ਕਿਞ੍ਚਾਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਯੋ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਾਸਃ ਸ ਏਵਾਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਸੰਸਾਰਜਯਿਜਯਃ|

because whatever is born of God overcometh the world; and this is the victory that hath overcome the world, even our faith.

5 ਯੀਸ਼ੁਰੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਇਤਿ ਯੋ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਸਿਤਿ ਤੰ ਵਿਨਾ ਕੋ(ਅ)ਪਰਃ ਸੰਸਾਰੰ ਜਯਤਿ?

Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?

6 ਸੋ(ਅ)ਭਿਸ਼਼ਿਕ੍ਤਸ੍ਤ੍ਰਾਤਾ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਸ੍ਤੋਯਰੁਧਿਰਾਭ੍ਯਾਮ੍ ਆਗਤਃ ਕੇਵਲੰ ਤੋਯੇਨ ਨਹਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਤੋਯਰੁਧਿਰਾਭ੍ਯਾਮ੍, ਆਤ੍ਮਾ ਚ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ੀ ਭਵਤਿ ਯਤ ਆਤ੍ਮਾ ਸਤ੍ਯਤਾਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਃ|

This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ; not in the water only, but in the water and in the blood; and the Spirit is that which beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.

7 ਯਤੋ ਹੇਤੋਃ ਸ੍ਵਰ੍ਗੇ ਪਿਤਾ ਵਾਦਃ ਪਵਿਤ੍ਰ ਆਤ੍ਮਾ ਚ ਤ੍ਰਯ ਇਮੇ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਿਣਃ ਸਨ੍ਤਿ, ਤ੍ਰਯ ਇਮੇ ਚੈਕੋ ਭਵਨ੍ਤਿ|

8 ਤਥਾ ਪ੍ਰੁʼਥਿਵ੍ਯਾਮ੍ ਆਤ੍ਮਾ ਤੋਯੰ ਰੁਧਿਰਞ੍ਚ ਤ੍ਰੀਣ੍ਯੇਤਾਨਿ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਦਦਾਤਿ ਤੇਸ਼਼ਾਂ ਤ੍ਰਯਾਣਾਮ੍ ਏਕਤ੍ਵੰ ਭਵਤਿ ਚ|

For there are three that bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood; and these three agree in one.

9 ਮਾਨਵਾਨਾਂ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਯਦ੍ਯਸ੍ਮਾਭਿ ਰ੍ਗ੍ਰੁʼਹ੍ਯਤੇ ਤਰ੍ਹੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦਪਿ ਸ਼੍ਰੇਸ਼਼੍ਠੰ ਯਤਃ ਸ੍ਵਪੁਤ੍ਰਮਧੀਸ਼੍ਵਰੇਣ ਦੱਤੰ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਮਿਦੰ|

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; for this is the witness of God, that he hath borne witness concerning his Son.

10 ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੇ ਯੋ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਾਸਿਤਿ ਸ ਨਿਜਾਨ੍ਤਰੇ ਤਤ੍ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਧਾਰਯਤਿ; ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੇ ਯੋ ਨ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਸਿਤਿ ਸ ਤਮ੍ ਅਨ੍ਰੁʼਤਵਾਦਿਨੰ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਯਤ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਃ ਸ੍ਵਪੁਤ੍ਰਮਧਿ ਯਤ੍ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯੰ ਦੱਤਵਾਨ੍ ਤਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਸ ਨ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਸਿਤਿ|

He that believeth in the Son of God hath the witness within him; he that believeth not God hath made him a liar, because he hath not believed in the witness which God hath borne concerning his Son.

11 ਤੱਚ ਸਾਕ੍ਸ਼਼੍ਯਮਿਦੰ ਯਦ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੋ (ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਭ੍ਯਮ੍ ਅਨਨ੍ਤਜੀਵਨੰ ਦੱਤਵਾਨ੍ ਤੱਚ ਜੀਵਨੰ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੇ ਵਿਦ੍ਯਤੇ| (aiōnios g166)

And this is the witness, that God gave to us everlasting life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)

12 ਯਃ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਧਾਰਯਤਿ ਸ ਜੀਵਨੰ ਧਾਰਿਯਤਿ, ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੰ ਯੋ ਨ ਧਾਰਯਤਿ ਸ ਜੀਵਨੰ ਨ ਧਾਰਯਤਿ|

He that hath the Son hath the life; he that hath not the Son of God hath not the life.

13 ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਪੁਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯ ਨਾਮ੍ਨਿ ਯੁਸ਼਼੍ਮਾਨ੍ ਪ੍ਰਤ੍ਯੇਤਾਨਿ ਮਯਾ ਲਿਖਿਤਾਨਿ ਤਸ੍ਯਾਭਿਪ੍ਰਾਯੋ (ਅ)ਯੰ ਯਦ੍ ਯੂਯਮ੍ ਅਨਨ੍ਤਜੀਵਨਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਤਾ ਇਤਿ ਜਾਨੀਯਾਤ ਤਸ੍ਯੇਸ਼੍ਵਰਪੁਤ੍ਰਸ੍ਯ ਨਾਮ੍ਨਿ ਵਿਸ਼੍ਵਸੇਤ ਚ| (aiōnios g166)

These things have I written to you, that ye may know that ye who believe in the name of the Son of God have everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)

14 ਤਸ੍ਯਾਨ੍ਤਿਕੇ (ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਯਾ ਪ੍ਰਤਿਭਾ ਭਵਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਯਾਃ ਕਾਰਣਮਿਦੰ ਯਦ੍ ਵਯੰ ਯਦਿ ਤਸ੍ਯਾਭਿਮਤੰ ਕਿਮਪਿ ਤੰ ਯਾਚਾਮਹੇ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਸੋ (ਅ)ਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਵਾਕ੍ਯੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੁʼਣੋਤਿ|

And this is the confidence which we have toward him, that, if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us;

15 ਸ ਚਾਸ੍ਮਾਕੰ ਯਤ੍ ਕਿਞ੍ਚਨ ਯਾਚਨੰ ਸ਼੍ਰੁʼਣੋਤੀਤਿ ਯਦਿ ਜਾਨੀਮਸ੍ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਦ੍ ਯਾਚਿਤਾ ਵਰਾ ਅਸ੍ਮਾਭਿਃ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਯਨ੍ਤੇ ਤਦਪਿ ਜਾਨੀਮਃ|

and if we know that he heareth us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests which we have asked of him.

16 ਕਸ਼੍ਚਿਦ੍ ਯਦਿ ਸ੍ਵਭ੍ਰਾਤਰਮ੍ ਅਮ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯੁਜਨਕੰ ਪਾਪੰ ਕੁਰ੍ੱਵਨ੍ਤੰ ਪਸ਼੍ਯਤਿ ਤਰ੍ਹਿ ਸ ਪ੍ਰਾਰ੍ਥਨਾਂ ਕਰੋਤੁ ਤੇਨੇਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਤਸ੍ਮੈ ਜੀਵਨੰ ਦਾਸ੍ਯਤਿ, ਅਰ੍ਥਤੋ ਮ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯੁਜਨਕੰ ਪਾਪੰ ਯੇਨ ਨਾਕਾਰਿਤਸ੍ਮੈ| ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਮ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯੁਜਨਕਮ੍ ਏਕੰ ਪਾਪਮ੍ ਆਸ੍ਤੇ ਤਦਧਿ ਤੇਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਰ੍ਥਨਾ ਕ੍ਰਿਯਤਾਮਿਤ੍ਯਹੰ ਨ ਵਦਾਮਿ|

If any one see his brother sin a sin not unto death, he shall ask, and shall give him life, —to those who sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death; for that I do not say that he shall pray.

17 ਸਰ੍ੱਵ ਏਵਾਧਰ੍ੰਮਃ ਪਾਪੰ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਸਰ੍ੱਵਪਾਂਪ ਮ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਯੁਜਨਕੰ ਨਹਿ|

All unrighteousness is sin; and there is a sin not unto death.

18 ਯ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤਃ ਸ ਪਾਪਾਚਾਰੰ ਨ ਕਰੋਤਿ ਕਿਨ੍ਤ੍ਵੀਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤੋ ਜਨਃ ਸ੍ਵੰ ਰਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਤਿ ਤਸ੍ਮਾਤ੍ ਸ ਪਾਪਾਤ੍ਮਾ ਤੰ ਨ ਸ੍ਪ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ਤੀਤਿ ਵਯੰ ਜਾਨੀਮਃ|

We know that whoever hath been born of God sinneth not; but he that is born of God keepeth himself, and the Evil One toucheth him not.

19 ਵਯਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਾਤ੍ ਜਾਤਾਃ ਕਿਨ੍ਤੁ ਕ੍ਰੁʼਤ੍ਸ੍ਨਃ ਸੰਸਾਰਃ ਪਾਪਾਤ੍ਮਨੋ ਵਸ਼ੰ ਗਤੋ (ਅ)ਸ੍ਤੀਤਿ ਜਾਨੀਮਃ|

We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth under the dominion of the Evil One.

20 ਅਪਰਮ੍ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰ ਆਗਤਵਾਨ੍ ਵਯਞ੍ਚ ਯਯਾ ਤਸ੍ਯ ਸਤ੍ਯਮਯਸ੍ਯ ਜ੍ਞਾਨੰ ਪ੍ਰਾਪ੍ਨੁਯਾਮਸ੍ਤਾਦ੍ਰੁʼਸ਼ੀਂ ਧਿਯਮ੍ ਅਸ੍ਮਭ੍ਯੰ ਦੱਤਵਾਨ੍ ਇਤਿ ਜਾਨੀਮਸ੍ਤਸ੍ਮਿਨ੍ ਸਤ੍ਯਮਯੇ (ਅ)ਰ੍ਥਤਸ੍ਤਸ੍ਯ ਪੁਤ੍ਰੇ ਯੀਸ਼ੁਖ੍ਰੀਸ਼਼੍ਟੇ ਤਿਸ਼਼੍ਠਾਮਸ਼੍ਚ; ਸ ਏਵ ਸਤ੍ਯਮਯ ਈਸ਼੍ਵਰੋ (ਅ)ਨਨ੍ਤਜੀਵਨਸ੍ਵਰੂਪਸ਼੍ਚਾਸ੍ਤਿ| (aiōnios g166)

And we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given us understanding, that we may know the True One; and we are in the True One, in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and everlasting life. (aiōnios g166)

21 ਹੇ ਪ੍ਰਿਯਬਾਲਕਾਃ, ਯੂਯੰ ਦੇਵਮੂਰ੍ੱਤਿਭ੍ਯਃ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ੍ ਰਕ੍ਸ਼਼ਤ| ਆਮੇਨ੍|

My children, keep yourselves from idols.
