മഥിഃ 21
1 അനന്തരം തേഷു യിരൂശാലമ്നഗരസ്യ സമീപവേർത്തിനോ ജൈതുനനാമകധരാധരസ്യ സമീപസ്ഥ്തിം ബൈത്ഫഗിഗ്രാമമ് ആഗതേഷു, യീശുഃ ശിഷ്യദ്വയം പ്രേഷയൻ ജഗാദ,
And, when they drew near unto Jerusalem, and came unto Bethphage, unto the Mount of Olives, then, Jesus sent forth two disciples;
2 യുവാം സമ്മുഖസ്ഥഗ്രാമം ഗത്വാ ബദ്ധാം യാം സവത്സാം ഗർദ്ദഭീം ഹഠാത് പ്രാപ്സ്യഥഃ, താം മോചയിത്വാ മദന്തികമ് ആനയതം|
saying unto them—Be going into the village that is over against you, and, straightway, ye shall find an ass, bound, and a colt with her, —loose them, and lead them unto me.
3 തത്ര യദി കശ്ചിത് കിഞ്ചിദ് വക്ഷ്യതി, തർഹി വദിഷ്യഥഃ, ഏതസ്യാം പ്രഭോഃ പ്രയോജനമാസ്തേ, തേന സ തത്ക്ഷണാത് പ്രഹേഷ്യതി|
And, if anyone, unto you, say aught, ye shall say—Their Lord, hath, need, —and, straightway, he will send them.
4 സീയോനഃ കന്യകാം യൂയം ഭാഷധ്വമിതി ഭാരതീം| പശ്യ തേ നമ്രശീലഃ സൻ നൃപ ആരുഹ്യ ഗർദഭീം| അർഥാദാരുഹ്യ തദ്വത്സമായാസ്യതി ത്വദന്തികം|
But, this, hath come to pass, that it might be fulfilled, which was spoken through the prophet, saying:
5 ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദിനോക്തം വചനമിദം തദാ സഫലമഭൂത്|
Tell ye the daughter of Zion, Lo! thy King, is coming unto thee, meek and mounted upon an ass, and upon a colt the foal of a toiling ass.
6 അനന്തരം തൗ ശ്ഷ്യി യീശോ ര്യഥാനിദേശം തം ഗ്രാമം ഗത്വാ
And the disciples, went, and did as Jesus directed them;
7 ഗർദഭീം തദ്വത്സഞ്ച സമാനീതവന്തൗ, പശ്ചാത് തദുപരി സ്വീയവസനാനീ പാതയിത്വാ തമാരോഹയാമാസതുഃ|
and led the ass and the colt, and laid upon them their garments, and he took his seat upon them.
8 തതോ ബഹവോ ലോകാ നിജവസനാനി പഥി പ്രസാരയിതുമാരേഭിരേ, കതിപയാ ജനാശ്ച പാദപപർണാദികം ഛിത്വാ പഥി വിസ്താരയാമാസുഃ|
And, the chief multitude, spread their own mantles in the way, and, others, were cutting off young branches from the trees, and spreading them in the way;
9 അഗ്രഗാമിനഃ പശ്ചാദ്ഗാമിനശ്ച മനുജാ ഉച്ചൈർജയ ജയ ദായൂദഃ സന്താനേതി ജഗദുഃ പരമേശ്വരസ്യ നാമ്നാ യ ആയാതി സ ധന്യഃ, സർവ്വോപരിസ്ഥസ്വർഗേപി ജയതി|
and the multitudes, they who were going before him and they who were following after, were crying aloud, saying—Hosanna! to the Son of David, Blessed is he that is coming in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
10 ഇത്ഥം തസ്മിൻ യിരൂശാലമം പ്രവിഷ്ടേ കോഽയമിതി കഥനാത് കൃത്സ്നം നഗരം ചഞ്ചലമഭവത്|
And, when he entered into Jerusalem, all the city was startled, saying—Who is this?
11 തത്ര ലോകോഃ കഥയാമാസുഃ, ഏഷ ഗാലീൽപ്രദേശീയ-നാസരതീയ-ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദീ യീശുഃ|
And, the multitudes, were saying—This, is the prophet Jesus, —He from Nazareth of Galilee.
12 അനന്തരം യീശുരീശ്വരസ്യ മന്ദിരം പ്രവിശ്യ തന്മധ്യാത് ക്രയവിക്രയിണോ വഹിശ്ചകാര; വണിജാം മുദ്രാസനാനീ കപോതവിക്രയിണാഞ്ചസനാനീ ച ന്യുവ്ജയാമാസ|
And Jesus entered into the temple, and cast out all who were selling and buying in the temple, —and, the tables of the money-changers, he overthrew, and the seats of them who were selling doves;
13 അപരം താനുവാച, ഏഷാ ലിപിരാസ്തേ, "മമ ഗൃഹം പ്രാർഥനാഗൃഹമിതി വിഖ്യാസ്യതി", കിന്തു യൂയം തദ് ദസ്യൂനാം ഗഹ്വരം കൃതവന്തഃ|
and saith unto them—It is written, My house, a house of prayer, shall be called; but, ye, are making it, A den of robbers!
14 തദനന്തരമ് അന്ധഖഞ്ചലോകാസ്തസ്യ സമീപമാഗതാഃ, സ താൻ നിരാമയാൻ കൃതവാൻ|
And there came unto him blind and lame, in the temple, and he cured them.
15 യദാ പ്രധാനയാജകാ അധ്യാപകാശ്ച തേന കൃതാന്യേതാനി ചിത്രകർമ്മാണി ദദൃശുഃ, ജയ ജയ ദായൂദഃ സന്താന, മന്ദിരേ ബാലകാനാമ് ഏതാദൃശമ് ഉച്ചധ്വനിം ശുശ്രുവുശ്ച, തദാ മഹാക്രുദ്ധാ ബഭൂവഃ,
But the Chief-priests and the Scribes, seeing, the marvels that he wrought, and the boys who were crying aloud in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the Son of David! were greatly displeased;
16 തം പപ്രച്ഛുശ്ച, ഇമേ യദ് വദന്തി, തത് കിം ത്വം ശൃണോഷി? തതോ യീശുസ്താൻ അവോചത്, സത്യമ്; സ്തന്യപായിശിശൂനാഞ്ച ബാലകാനാഞ്ച വക്ത്രതഃ| സ്വകീയം മഹിമാനം ത്വം സംപ്രകാശയസി സ്വയം| ഏതദ്വാക്യം യൂയം കിം നാപഠത?
and said unto him—Hearest thou what these are saying? And, Jesus, saith unto them—Yea: Have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings, hast thou prepared praise?
17 തതസ്താൻ വിഹായ സ നഗരാദ് ബൈഥനിയാഗ്രാമം ഗത്വാ തത്ര രജനീം യാപയാമാസ|
And, leaving them behind, he went forth outside the city into Bethany, and spent the night there.
18 അനന്തരം പ്രഭാതേ സതി യീശുഃ പുനരപി നഗരമാഗച്ഛൻ ക്ഷുധാർത്തോ ബഭൂവ|
And, early, returning into the city, he hungered;
19 തതോ മാർഗപാർശ്വ ഉഡുമ്ബരവൃക്ഷമേകം വിലോക്യ തത്സമീപം ഗത്വാ പത്രാണി വിനാ കിമപി ന പ്രാപ്യ തം പാദപം പ്രോവാച, അദ്യാരഭ്യ കദാപി ത്വയി ഫലം ന ഭവതു; തേന തത്ക്ഷണാത് സ ഉഡുമ്ബരമാഹീരുഹഃ ശുഷ്കതാം ഗതഃ| (aiōn g165)
and, seeing one fig-tree by the way, he came up to it, and nothing, found he thereon, save leaves only, —and he saith unto it—No more, from thee, let fruit spring forth, unto times age-abiding, —and the fig-tree, instantly withered away. (aiōn g165)
20 തദ് ദൃഷ്ട്വാ ശിഷ്യാ ആശ്ചര്യ്യം വിജ്ഞായ കഥയാമാസുഃ, ആഃ, ഉഡുമ്വരപാദപോഽതിതൂർണം ശുഷ്കോഽഭവത്|
And the disciples, seeing it, marvelled, saying—How instantly, did the fig-tree wither away.
21 തതോ യീശുസ്താനുവാച, യുഷ്മാനഹം സത്യം വദാമി, യദി യൂയമസന്ദിഗ്ധാഃ പ്രതീഥ, തർഹി യൂയമപി കേവലോഡുമ്വരപാദപം പ്രതീത്ഥം കർത്തും ശക്ഷ്യഥ, തന്ന, ത്വം ചലിത്വാ സാഗരേ പതേതി വാക്യം യുഷ്മാഭിരസ്മിന ശൈലേ പ്രോക്തേപി തദൈവ തദ് ഘടിഷ്യതേ|
And Jesus, answering, said unto them—Verily, I say unto you, If ye have faith, and do not doubt, not only, this of the fig-tree, shall ye do, —but, even if, unto this mountain, ye shall say, Be lifted up, and be cast into the sea, it shall be done.
22 തഥാ വിശ്വസ്യ പ്രാർഥ്യ യുഷ്മാഭി ര്യദ് യാചിഷ്യതേ, തദേവ പ്രാപ്സ്യതേ|
And, all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
23 അനന്തരം മന്ദിരം പ്രവിശ്യോപദേശനസമയേ തത്സമീപം പ്രധാനയാജകാഃ പ്രാചീനലോകാശ്ചാഗത്യ പപ്രച്ഛുഃ, ത്വയാ കേന സാമർഥ്യനൈതാനി കർമ്മാണി ക്രിയന്തേ? കേന വാ തുഭ്യമേതാനി സാമർഥ്യാനി ദത്താനി?
And, when he, entered, the temple, the Chief-priests and the Elders of the people, came unto him as he was teaching, saying, By what authority, these things, art thou doing? and, who, to thee, gave, this authority?
24 തതോ യീശുഃ പ്രത്യവദത്, അഹമപി യുഷ്മാൻ വാചമേകാം പൃച്ഛാമി, യദി യൂയം തദുത്തരം ദാതും ശക്ഷ്യഥ, തദാ കേന സാമർഥ്യേന കർമ്മാണ്യേതാനി കരോമി, തദഹം യുഷ്മാൻ വക്ഷ്യാമി|
And, making answer, Jesus said unto them—I also, will ask, you, one thing, —which if ye tell me, I also, will tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing: —
25 യോഹനോ മജ്ജനം കസ്യാജ്ഞയാഭവത്? കിമീശ്വരസ്യ മനുഷ്യസ്യ വാ? തതസ്തേ പരസ്പരം വിവിച്യ കഥയാമാസുഃ, യദീശ്വരസ്യേതി വദാമസ്തർഹി യൂയം തം കുതോ ന പ്രത്യൈത? വാചമേതാം വക്ഷ്യതി|
The immersion by John, whence was it? Of heaven, or of men? But, they, began to deliberate among themselves, saying—If we say, Of heaven; He will say unto us, Wherefore then did ye not believe him?
26 മനുഷ്യസ്യേതി വക്തുമപി ലോകേഭ്യോ ബിഭീമഃ, യതഃ സർവ്വൈരപി യോഹൻ ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദീതി ജ്ഞായതേ|
But, if we say, Of men, we fear the multitude, for, all, as a prophet, are holding John.
27 തസ്മാത് തേ യീശും പ്രത്യവദൻ, തദ് വയം ന വിദ്മഃ| തദാ സ താനുക്തവാൻ, തർഹി കേന സാമരഥ്യേന കർമ്മാണ്യേതാന്യഹം കരോമി, തദപ്യഹം യുഷ്മാൻ ന വക്ഷ്യാമി|
And, making answer to Jesus, they said—We know not. He also, said unto them—Neither do, I, tell, you, by what authority, these things, I am doing.
28 കസ്യചിജ്ജനസ്യ ദ്വൗ സുതാവാസ്താം സ ഏകസ്യ സുതസ്യ സമീപം ഗത്വാ ജഗാദ, ഹേ സുത, ത്വമദ്യ മമ ദ്രാക്ഷാക്ഷേത്രേ കർമ്മ കർതും വ്രജ|
But how, to you, doth it seem? A man, had two sons: coming unto the first, he said, Son! go thy way, to-day, be working in the vineyard.
29 തതഃ സ ഉക്തവാൻ, ന യാസ്യാമി, കിന്തു ശേഷേഽനുതപ്യ ജഗാമ|
And, he, answering, said, I, sir! and went not;
30 അനന്തരം സോന്യസുതസ്യ സമീപം ഗത്വാ തഥൈവ കഥ്തിവാൻ; തതഃ സ പ്രത്യുവാച, മഹേച്ഛ യാമി, കിന്തു ന ഗതഃ|
And, coming unto the second, he spake, in like manner, —and, he, answering, said, I will not: afterwards, smitten with regret, he went.
31 ഏതയോഃ പുത്രയോ ർമധ്യേ പിതുരഭിമതം കേന പാലിതം? യുഷ്മാഭിഃ കിം ബുധ്യതേ? തതസ്തേ പ്രത്യൂചുഃ, പ്രഥമേന പുത്രേണ| തദാനീം യീശുസ്താനുവാച, അഹം യുഷ്മാൻ തഥ്യം വദാമി, ചണ്ഡാലാ ഗണികാശ്ച യുഷ്മാകമഗ്രത ഈശ്വരസ്യ രാജ്യം പ്രവിശന്തി|
Which of the two, did the will of the father? They say, The latter. Jesus saith unto them—Verily, I say unto you, the tax-collectors and the harlots, are going before you, into the kingdom of God;
32 യതോ യുഷ്മാകം സമീപം യോഹനി ധർമ്മപഥേനാഗതേ യൂയം തം ന പ്രതീഥ, കിന്തു ചണ്ഡാലാ ഗണികാശ്ച തം പ്രത്യായൻ, തദ് വിലോക്യാപി യൂയം പ്രത്യേതും നാഖിദ്യധ്വം|
For John came unto you, in a way of righteousness, and ye believed him not, —but, the tax-collectors and the harlots, believed him; and, ye, seeing it, were not even smitten with regret, afterwards, so as to believe him.
33 അപരമേകം ദൃഷ്ടാന്തം ശൃണുത, കശ്ചിദ് ഗൃഹസ്ഥഃ ക്ഷേത്രേ ദ്രാക്ഷാലതാ രോപയിത്വാ തച്ചതുർദിക്ഷു വാരണീം വിധായ തന്മധ്യേ ദ്രാക്ഷായന്ത്രം സ്ഥാപിതവാൻ, മാഞ്ചഞ്ച നിർമ്മിതവാൻ, തതഃ കൃഷകേഷു തത് ക്ഷേത്രം സമർപ്യ സ്വയം ദൂരദേശം ജഗാമ|
Another parable, hear ye: —A man there was, a householder, who planted a vineyard, and, a wall around it, placed, and digged in it a wine-vat, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, —and left home.
34 തദനന്തരം ഫലസമയ ഉപസ്ഥിതേ സ ഫലാനി പ്രാപ്തും കൃഷീവലാനാം സമീപം നിജദാസാൻ പ്രേഷയാമാസ|
And, when the season of fruits drew near, He sent forth his servants unto the husbandmen to receive his fruits.
35 കിന്തു കൃഷീവലാസ്തസ്യ താൻ ദാസേയാൻ ധൃത്വാ കഞ്ചന പ്രഹൃതവന്തഃ, കഞ്ചന പാഷാണൈരാഹതവന്തഃ, കഞ്ചന ച ഹതവന്തഃ|
And the husbandmen, taking his servants, one, indeed, they beat, and, another, slew, —and, another, stoned.
36 പുനരപി സ പ്രഭുഃ പ്രഥമതോഽധികദാസേയാൻ പ്രേഷയാമാസ, കിന്തു തേ താൻ പ്രത്യപി തഥൈവ ചക്രുഃ|
Again, sent he forth other servants, more than the first, and they did unto them, likewise.
37 അനന്തരം മമ സുതേ ഗതേ തം സമാദരിഷ്യന്തേ, ഇത്യുക്ത്വാ ശേഷേ സ നിജസുതം തേഷാം സന്നിധിം പ്രേഷയാമാസ|
Afterwards, however, he sent forth unto them his son, saying, —They will pay deference unto my son!
38 കിന്തു തേ കൃഷീവലാഃ സുതം വീക്ഷ്യ പരസ്പരമ് ഇതി മന്ത്രയിതുമ് ആരേഭിരേ, അയമുത്തരാധികാരീ വയമേനം നിഹത്യാസ്യാധികാരം സ്വവശീകരിഷ്യാമഃ|
But, the husbandmen, seeing the son, said among themselves, —This, is, the heir: Come on! Let us slay him, and have his inheritance.
39 പശ്ചാത് തേ തം ധൃത്വാ ദ്രാക്ഷാക്ഷേത്രാദ് ബഹിഃ പാതയിത്വാബധിഷുഃ|
And, taking him, they cast him forth outside the vineyard, —and slew him.
40 യദാ സ ദ്രാക്ഷാക്ഷേത്രപതിരാഗമിഷ്യതി, തദാ താൻ കൃഷീവലാൻ കിം കരിഷ്യതി?
When therefore the master of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?
41 തതസ്തേ പ്രത്യവദൻ, താൻ കലുഷിണോ ദാരുണയാതനാഭിരാഹനിഷ്യതി, യേ ച സമയാനുക്രമാത് ഫലാനി ദാസ്യന്തി, താദൃശേഷു കൃഷീവലേഷു ക്ഷേത്രം സമർപയിഷ്യതി|
They say unto him—Miserable men! Miserably, will he destroy them; and will let out, the vineyard, to other husbandmen, who will render unto him the fruits in their seasons.
42 തദാ യീശുനാ തേ ഗദിതാഃ, ഗ്രഹണം ന കൃതം യസ്യ പാഷാണസ്യ നിചായകൈഃ| പ്രധാനപ്രസ്തരഃ കോണേ സഏവ സംഭവിഷ്യതി| ഏതത് പരേശിതുഃ കർമ്മാസ്മദൃഷ്ടാവദ്ഭുതം ഭവേത്| ധർമ്മഗ്രന്ഥേ ലിഖിതമേതദ്വചനം യുഷ്മാഭിഃ കിം നാപാഠി?
Jesus saith unto them—Have ye, never, read in the Scriptures, A stone which the builders rejected, the same, hath become, head of the corner: From the Lord, hath this come to pass, and is marvellous in our eyes.
43 തസ്മാദഹം യുഷ്മാൻ വദാമി, യുഷ്മത്ത ഈശ്വരീയരാജ്യമപനീയ ഫലോത്പാദയിത്രന്യജാതയേ ദായിഷ്യതേ|
Wherefore I say unto you, The kingdom of God, will be taken away from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof:
44 യോ ജന ഏതത്പാഷാണോപരി പതിഷ്യതി, തം സ ഭംക്ഷ്യതേ, കിന്ത്വയം പാഷാണോ യസ്യോപരി പതിഷ്യതി, തം സ ധൂലിവത് ചൂർണീകരിഷ്യതി|
[And, he that falleth on this stone, will be sorely bruised; but, on whomsoever it may fall, it will utterly destroy him.]
45 തദാനീം പ്രാധനയാജകാഃ ഫിരൂശിനശ്ച തസ്യേമാം ദൃഷ്ടാന്തകഥാം ശ്രുത്വാ സോഽസ്മാനുദ്ദിശ്യ കഥിതവാൻ, ഇതി വിജ്ഞായ തം ധർത്തും ചേഷ്ടിതവന്തഃ;
And the Chief-priests and the Pharisees, hearing his parables, took note, that, concerning them, he was speaking.
46 കിന്തു ലോകേഭ്യോ ബിഭ്യുഃ, യതോ ലോകൈഃ സ ഭവിഷ്യദ്വാദീത്യജ്ഞായി|
And, seeking to secure him, they feared the multitudes; since, for a prophet, were they holding him.
