ಯೋಹನಃ 5

1 ತತಃ ಪರಂ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾನಾಮ್ ಉತ್ಸವ ಉಪಸ್ಥಿತೇ ಯೀಶು ರ್ಯಿರೂಶಾಲಮಂ ಗತವಾನ್|

After this was the feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

2 ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ನಗರೇ ಮೇಷನಾಮ್ನೋ ದ್ವಾರಸ್ಯ ಸಮೀಪೇ ಇಬ್ರೀಯಭಾಷಯಾ ಬೈಥೇಸ್ದಾ ನಾಮ್ನಾ ಪಿಷ್ಕರಿಣೀ ಪಞ್ಚಘಟ್ಟಯುಕ್ತಾಸೀತ್|

Now there is in Jerusalem, near the sheep-gate, a pool, called, in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, with five porches.

3 ತಸ್ಯಾಸ್ತೇಷು ಘಟ್ಟೇಷು ಕಿಲಾಲಕಮ್ಪನಮ್ ಅಪೇಕ್ಷ್ಯ ಅನ್ಧಖಞ್ಚಶುಷ್ಕಾಙ್ಗಾದಯೋ ಬಹವೋ ರೋಗಿಣಃ ಪತನ್ತಸ್ತಿಷ್ಠನ್ತಿ ಸ್ಮ|

In these lay a great multitude of sick persons, blind, lame, withered, who waited for the moving of the water.

4 ಯತೋ ವಿಶೇಷಕಾಲೇ ತಸ್ಯ ಸರಸೋ ವಾರಿ ಸ್ವರ್ಗೀಯದೂತ ಏತ್ಯಾಕಮ್ಪಯತ್ ತತ್ಕೀಲಾಲಕಮ್ಪನಾತ್ ಪರಂ ಯಃ ಕಶ್ಚಿದ್ ರೋಗೀ ಪ್ರಥಮಂ ಪಾನೀಯಮವಾರೋಹತ್ ಸ ಏವ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣಾದ್ ರೋಗಮುಕ್ತೋಽಭವತ್|

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and stirred the water. Then he who entered first after the motion of the water, was cured of whatever disease he had.

5 ತದಾಷ್ಟಾತ್ರಿಂಶದ್ವರ್ಷಾಣಿ ಯಾವದ್ ರೋಗಗ್ರಸ್ತ ಏಕಜನಸ್ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸ್ಥಾನೇ ಸ್ಥಿತವಾನ್|

And a certain man was there, who had been sick thirty-eight years.

6 ಯೀಶುಸ್ತಂ ಶಯಿತಂ ದೃಷ್ಟ್ವಾ ಬಹುಕಾಲಿಕರೋಗೀತಿ ಜ್ಞಾತ್ವಾ ವ್ಯಾಹೃತವಾನ್ ತ್ವಂ ಕಿಂ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥೋ ಬುಭೂಷಸಿ?

When Jesus saw him lying, and knew that he had been already a long time in that condition, he said to him: Do you wish to be restored to health?

7 ತತೋ ರೋಗೀ ಕಥಿತವಾನ್ ಹೇ ಮಹೇಚ್ಛ ಯದಾ ಕೀಲಾಲಂ ಕಮ್ಪತೇ ತದಾ ಮಾಂ ಪುಷ್ಕರಿಣೀಮ್ ಅವರೋಹಯಿತುಂ ಮಮ ಕೋಪಿ ನಾಸ್ತಿ, ತಸ್ಮಾನ್ ಮಮ ಗಮನಕಾಲೇ ಕಶ್ಚಿದನ್ಯೋಽಗ್ರೋ ಗತ್ವಾ ಅವರೋಹತಿ|

The sick man answered him: Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred; but while I am coming, another goes down before me.

8 ತದಾ ಯೀಶುರಕಥಯದ್ ಉತ್ತಿಷ್ಠ, ತವ ಶಯ್ಯಾಮುತ್ತೋಲ್ಯ ಗೃಹೀತ್ವಾ ಯಾಹಿ|

Jesus said to him: Arise, take up your bed and walk.

9 ಸ ತತ್ಕ್ಷಣಾತ್ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥೋ ಭೂತ್ವಾ ಶಯ್ಯಾಮುತ್ತೋಲ್ಯಾದಾಯ ಗತವಾನ್ ಕಿನ್ತು ತದ್ದಿನಂ ವಿಶ್ರಾಮವಾರಃ|

And the man was immediately restored to health; and he took up his bed and walked. And that day was the sabbath.

10 ತಸ್ಮಾದ್ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾಃ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಂ ನರಂ ವ್ಯಾಹರನ್ ಅದ್ಯ ವಿಶ್ರಾಮವಾರೇ ಶಯನೀಯಮಾದಾಯ ನ ಯಾತವ್ಯಮ್|

The Jews, therefore, said to him that was cured: It is the sabbath; it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.

11 ತತಃ ಸ ಪ್ರತ್ಯವೋಚದ್ ಯೋ ಮಾಂ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥಮ್ ಅಕಾರ್ಷೀತ್ ಶಯನೀಯಮ್ ಉತ್ತೋಲ್ಯಾದಾಯ ಯಾತುಂ ಮಾಂ ಸ ಏವಾದಿಶತ್|

He answered them: He that restored me to health said to me, Take up your bed and walk.

12 ತದಾ ತೇಽಪೃಚ್ಛನ್ ಶಯನೀಯಮ್ ಉತ್ತೋಲ್ಯಾದಾಯ ಯಾತುಂ ಯ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಯತ್ ಸ ಕಃ?

Then they asked him: Who is he that said to you, Take up your bed and walk?

13 ಕಿನ್ತು ಸ ಕ ಇತಿ ಸ್ವಸ್ಥೀಭೂತೋ ನಾಜಾನಾದ್ ಯತಸ್ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸ್ಥಾನೇ ಜನತಾಸತ್ತ್ವಾದ್ ಯೀಶುಃ ಸ್ಥಾನಾನ್ತರಮ್ ಆಗಮತ್|

But he that had been restored to health knew not who he was; for Jesus had withdrawn himself, because a multitude was in the place.

14 ತತಃ ಪರಂ ಯೇಶು ರ್ಮನ್ದಿರೇ ತಂ ನರಂ ಸಾಕ್ಷಾತ್ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಯಾಕಥಯತ್ ಪಶ್ಯೇದಾನೀಮ್ ಅನಾಮಯೋ ಜಾತೋಸಿ ಯಥಾಧಿಕಾ ದುರ್ದಶಾ ನ ಘಟತೇ ತದ್ಧೇತೋಃ ಪಾಪಂ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಪುನರ್ಮಾಕಾರ್ಷೀಃ|

After this Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him: Behold, you have been restored to health; sin no more, lest some worse thing befall you.

15 ತತಃ ಸ ಗತ್ವಾ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾನ್ ಅವದದ್ ಯೀಶು ರ್ಮಾಮ್ ಅರೋಗಿಣಮ್ ಅಕಾರ್ಷೀತ್|

The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus that had restored him to health.

16 ತತೋ ಯೀಶು ರ್ವಿಶ್ರಾಮವಾರೇ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮೇದೃಶಂ ಕೃತವಾನ್ ಇತಿ ಹೇತೋ ರ್ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾಸ್ತಂ ತಾಡಯಿತ್ವಾ ಹನ್ತುಮ್ ಅಚೇಷ್ಟನ್ತ|

And for this reason did the Jews persecute Jesus, and seek to kill him, because he had done these things on the sabbath.

17 ಯೀಶುಸ್ತಾನಾಖ್ಯತ್ ಮಮ ಪಿತಾ ಯತ್ ಕಾರ್ಯ್ಯಂ ಕರೋತಿ ತದನುರೂಪಮ್ ಅಹಮಪಿ ಕರೋತಿ|

But Jesus answered them: My Father works till now, and I also work.

18 ತತೋ ಯಿಹೂದೀಯಾಸ್ತಂ ಹನ್ತುಂ ಪುನರಯತನ್ತ ಯತೋ ವಿಶ್ರಾಮವಾರಂ ನಾಮನ್ಯತ ತದೇವ ಕೇವಲಂ ನ ಅಧಿಕನ್ತು ಈಶ್ವರಂ ಸ್ವಪಿತರಂ ಪ್ರೋಚ್ಯ ಸ್ವಮಪೀಶ್ವರತುಲ್ಯಂ ಕೃತವಾನ್|

For this reason, therefore, the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he had not only broken the sabbath, but also said that God was his own father, making himself equal with God.

19 ಪಶ್ಚಾದ್ ಯೀಶುರವದದ್ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನಹಂ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತರಂ ವದಾಮಿ ಪುತ್ರಃ ಪಿತರಂ ಯದ್ಯತ್ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಕುರ್ವ್ವನ್ತಂ ಪಶ್ಯತಿ ತದತಿರಿಕ್ತಂ ಸ್ವೇಚ್ಛಾತಃ ಕಿಮಪಿ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಕರ್ತ್ತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋತಿ| ಪಿತಾ ಯತ್ ಕರೋತಿ ಪುತ್ರೋಪಿ ತದೇವ ಕರೋತಿ|

Then Jesus answered and said to them: Verily, verily I say to you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father do; for whatever things he does, these also the Son does in like manner.

20 ಪಿತಾ ಪುತ್ರೇ ಸ್ನೇಹಂ ಕರೋತಿ ತಸ್ಮಾತ್ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಯದ್ಯತ್ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಕರೋತಿ ತತ್ಸರ್ವ್ವಂ ಪುತ್ರಂ ದರ್ಶಯತಿ; ಯಥಾ ಚ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಂ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ್ಯಜ್ಞಾನಂ ಜನಿಷ್ಯತೇ ತದರ್ಥಮ್ ಇತೋಪಿ ಮಹಾಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ತಂ ದರ್ಶಯಿಷ್ಯತಿ|

For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does; and he will show him greater works than these, that you may be astonished.

21 ವಸ್ತುತಸ್ತು ಪಿತಾ ಯಥಾ ಪ್ರಮಿತಾನ್ ಉತ್ಥಾಪ್ಯ ಸಜಿವಾನ್ ಕರೋತಿ ತದ್ವತ್ ಪುತ್ರೋಪಿ ಯಂ ಯಂ ಇಚ್ಛತಿ ತಂ ತಂ ಸಜೀವಂ ಕರೋತಿ|

For as the Father raises the dead, and makes them alive, so also the Son makes alive whom he will.

22 ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಪಿತರಂ ಯಥಾ ಸತ್ಕುರ್ವ್ವನ್ತಿ ತಥಾ ಪುತ್ರಮಪಿ ಸತ್ಕಾರಯಿತುಂ ಪಿತಾ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಕಸ್ಯಾಪಿ ವಿಚಾರಮಕೃತ್ವಾ ಸರ್ವ್ವವಿಚಾರಾಣಾಂ ಭಾರಂ ಪುತ್ರೇ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾನ್|

For the Father judges no one, but has given all judicial authority to the Son;

23 ಯಃ ಪುತ್ರಂ ಸತ್ ಕರೋತಿ ಸ ತಸ್ಯ ಪ್ರೇರಕಮಪಿ ಸತ್ ಕರೋತಿ|

that all may honor the Son, as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son, honors not the Father who sent him.

24 ಯುಷ್ಮಾನಾಹಂ ಯಥಾರ್ಥತರಂ ವದಾಮಿ ಯೋ ಜನೋ ಮಮ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಮತ್ಪ್ರೇರಕೇ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತಿ ಸೋನನ್ತಾಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಕದಾಪಿ ದಣ್ಡಬಾಜನಂ ನ ಭವತಿ ನಿಧನಾದುತ್ಥಾಯ ಪರಮಾಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ನೋತಿ| (aiōnios g166)

Verily, verily I say to you, He that hears my word, and believes on him that sent me, has eternal life, and comes not into condemnation, but has passed from death into life. (aiōnios g166)

25 ಅಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನತಿಯಥಾರ್ಥಂ ವದಾಮಿ ಯದಾ ಮೃತಾ ಈಶ್ವರಪುತ್ರಸ್ಯ ನಿನಾದಂ ಶ್ರೋಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ ಯೇ ಚ ಶ್ರೋಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ ತೇ ಸಜೀವಾ ಭವಿಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ ಸಮಯ ಏತಾದೃಶ ಆಯಾತಿ ವರಮ್ ಇದಾನೀಮಪ್ಯುಪತಿಷ್ಠತಿ|

Verily, verily I say to you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear, shall live.

26 ಪಿತಾ ಯಥಾ ಸ್ವಯಞ್ಜೀವೀ ತಥಾ ಪುತ್ರಾಯ ಸ್ವಯಞ್ಜೀವಿತ್ವಾಧಿಕಾರಂ ದತ್ತವಾನ್|

For as the Father has life in himself, so has he given to the Son also to have life in himself;

27 ಸ ಮನುಷ್ಯಪುತ್ರಃ ಏತಸ್ಮಾತ್ ಕಾರಣಾತ್ ಪಿತಾ ದಣ್ಡಕರಣಾಧಿಕಾರಮಪಿ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾನ್|

and he has given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.

28 ಏತದರ್ಥೇ ಯೂಯಮ್ ಆಶ್ಚರ್ಯ್ಯಂ ನ ಮನ್ಯಧ್ವಂ ಯತೋ ಯಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸಮಯೇ ತಸ್ಯ ನಿನಾದಂ ಶ್ರುತ್ವಾ ಶ್ಮಶಾನಸ್ಥಾಃ ಸರ್ವ್ವೇ ಬಹಿರಾಗಮಿಷ್ಯನ್ತಿ ಸಮಯ ಏತಾದೃಶ ಉಪಸ್ಥಾಸ್ಯತಿ|

Be not astonished at this; for the hour is coming in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29 ತಸ್ಮಾದ್ ಯೇ ಸತ್ಕರ್ಮ್ಮಾಣಿ ಕೃತವನ್ತಸ್ತ ಉತ್ಥಾಯ ಆಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯನ್ತಿ ಯೇ ಚ ಕುಕರ್ಮಾಣಿ ಕೃತವನ್ತಸ್ತ ಉತ್ಥಾಯ ದಣ್ಡಂ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯನ್ತಿ|

and shall come forth; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of condemnation.

30 ಅಹಂ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಕಿಮಪಿ ಕರ್ತ್ತುಂ ನ ಶಕ್ನೋಮಿ ಯಥಾ ಶುಣೋಮಿ ತಥಾ ವಿಚಾರಯಾಮಿ ಮಮ ವಿಚಾರಞ್ಚ ನ್ಯಾಯ್ಯಃ ಯತೋಹಂ ಸ್ವೀಯಾಭೀಷ್ಟಂ ನೇಹಿತ್ವಾ ಮತ್ಪ್ರೇರಯಿತುಃ ಪಿತುರಿಷ್ಟಮ್ ಈಹೇ|

I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will, but the will of him that sent me.

31 ಯದಿ ಸ್ವಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಸ್ವಯಂ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ದದಾಮಿ ತರ್ಹಿ ತತ್ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಮ್ ಆಗ್ರಾಹ್ಯಂ ಭವತಿ;

If I testify concerning myself, my testimony is not worthy of credit.

32 ಕಿನ್ತು ಮದರ್ಥೇಽಪರೋ ಜನಃ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ದದಾತಿ ಮದರ್ಥೇ ತಸ್ಯ ಯತ್ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ತತ್ ಸತ್ಯಮ್ ಏತದಪ್ಯಹಂ ಜಾನಾಮಿ|

There is another that testifies concerning me, and I know that the testimony which he testifies concerning me is worthy of credit.

33 ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿ ರ್ಯೋಹನಂ ಪ್ರತಿ ಲೋಕೇಷು ಪ್ರೇರಿತೇಷು ಸ ಸತ್ಯಕಥಾಯಾಂ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಮದದಾತ್|

You sent to John, and he bore testimony to the truth.

34 ಮಾನುಷಾದಹಂ ಸಾಕ್ಷ್ಯಂ ನೋಪೇಕ್ಷೇ ತಥಾಪಿ ಯೂಯಂ ಯಥಾ ಪರಿತ್ರಯಧ್ವೇ ತದರ್ಥಮ್ ಇದಂ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ವದಾಮಿ|

But I receive not testimony from man; yet I say these things that you may be saved.

35 ಯೋಹನ್ ದೇದೀಪ್ಯಮಾನೋ ದೀಪ ಇವ ತೇಜಸ್ವೀ ಸ್ಥಿತವಾನ್ ಯೂಯಮ್ ಅಲ್ಪಕಾಲಂ ತಸ್ಯ ದೀಪ್ತ್ಯಾನನ್ದಿತುಂ ಸಮಮನ್ಯಧ್ವಂ|

He was the burning and shining lamp; and you were willing, for a time, to rejoice in his light.

36 ಕಿನ್ತು ತತ್ಪ್ರಮಾಣಾದಪಿ ಮಮ ಗುರುತರಂ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಂ ವಿದ್ಯತೇ ಪಿತಾ ಮಾಂ ಪ್ರೇಷ್ಯ ಯದ್ಯತ್ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಸಮಾಪಯಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ತ್ತಿಮದದಾತ್ ಮಯಾ ಕೃತಂ ತತ್ತತ್ ಕರ್ಮ್ಮ ಮದರ್ಥೇ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಂ ದದಾತಿ|

But I have testimony greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has given me to finish, these very works which I do, testify concerning me, that the Father has sent me.

37 ಯಃ ಪಿತಾ ಮಾಂ ಪ್ರೇರಿತವಾನ್ ಮೋಪಿ ಮದರ್ಥೇ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಂ ದದಾತಿ| ತಸ್ಯ ವಾಕ್ಯಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಭಿಃ ಕದಾಪಿ ನ ಶ್ರುತಂ ತಸ್ಯ ರೂಪಞ್ಚ ನ ದೃಷ್ಟಂ

And the Father, who sent me, has testified concerning me. You have, neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.

38 ತಸ್ಯ ವಾಕ್ಯಞ್ಚ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮ್ ಅನ್ತಃ ಕದಾಪಿ ಸ್ಥಾನಂ ನಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಯತಃ ಸ ಯಂ ಪ್ರೇಷಿತವಾನ್ ಯೂಯಂ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ನ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿಥ|

And his word you have not remaining in you; for whom he has sent, him you believe not.

39 ಧರ್ಮ್ಮಪುಸ್ತಕಾನಿ ಯೂಯಮ್ ಆಲೋಚಯಧ್ವಂ ತೈ ರ್ವಾಕ್ಯೈರನನ್ತಾಯುಃ ಪ್ರಾಪ್ಸ್ಯಾಮ ಇತಿ ಯೂಯಂ ಬುಧ್ಯಧ್ವೇ ತದ್ಧರ್ಮ್ಮಪುಸ್ತಕಾನಿ ಮದರ್ಥೇ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಂ ದದತಿ| (aiōnios g166)

You search the scriptures, because in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify concerning me: (aiōnios g166)

40 ತಥಾಪಿ ಯೂಯಂ ಪರಮಾಯುಃಪ್ರಾಪ್ತಯೇ ಮಮ ಸಂನಿಧಿಮ್ ನ ಜಿಗಮಿಷಥ|

and yet you refuse to come to me, that you may have life.

41 ಅಹಂ ಮಾನುಷೇಭ್ಯಃ ಸತ್ಕಾರಂ ನ ಗೃಹ್ಲಾಮಿ|

I receive not honor from men.

42 ಅಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ಜಾನಾಮಿ; ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಮನ್ತರ ಈಶ್ವರಪ್ರೇಮ ನಾಸ್ತಿ|

But I know you, that you have not the love of God in you.

43 ಅಹಂ ನಿಜಪಿತು ರ್ನಾಮ್ನಾಗತೋಸ್ಮಿ ತಥಾಪಿ ಮಾಂ ನ ಗೃಹ್ಲೀಥ ಕಿನ್ತು ಕಶ್ಚಿದ್ ಯದಿ ಸ್ವನಾಮ್ನಾ ಸಮಾಗಮಿಷ್ಯತಿ ತರ್ಹಿ ತಂ ಗ್ರಹೀಷ್ಯಥ|

I have come in my Father’s name, and you receive me not; if another should come in his own name, him you would receive.

44 ಯೂಯಮ್ ಈಶ್ವರಾತ್ ಸತ್ಕಾರಂ ನ ಚಿಷ್ಟತ್ವಾ ಕೇವಲಂ ಪರಸ್ಪರಂ ಸತ್ಕಾರಮ್ ಚೇದ್ ಆದಧ್ವ್ವೇ ತರ್ಹಿ ಕಥಂ ವಿಶ್ವಸಿತುಂ ಶಕ್ನುಥ?

How can you believe who receive honor one from another, and seek not the honor that comes from God alone?

45 ಪುತುಃ ಸಮೀಪೇಽಹಂ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ಅಪವದಿಷ್ಯಾಮೀತಿ ಮಾ ಚಿನ್ತಯತ ಯಸ್ಮಿನ್, ಯಸ್ಮಿನ್ ಯುಷ್ಮಾಕಂ ವಿಶ್ವಸಃ ಸಏವ ಮೂಸಾ ಯುಷ್ಮಾನ್ ಅಪವದತಿ|

Think not that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuses you, Moses, in whom you trust.

46 ಯದಿ ಯೂಯಂ ತಸ್ಮಿನ್ ವ್ಯಶ್ವಸಿಷ್ಯತ ತರ್ಹಿ ಮಯ್ಯಪಿ ವ್ಯಶ್ವಸಿಷ್ಯತ, ಯತ್ ಸ ಮಯಿ ಲಿಖಿತವಾನ್|

For if you had believed Moses, you would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
