< prakāśitaṁ 8 >
1 anantaraṁ saptamamudrāyāṁ tēna mōcitāyāṁ sārddhadaṇḍakālaṁ svargō niḥśabdō'bhavat|
And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.
2 aparam aham īśvarasyāntikē tiṣṭhataḥ saptadūtān apaśyaṁ tēbhyaḥ saptatūryyō'dīyanta|
And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and seven trumpets were given to them.
3 tataḥ param anya ēkō dūta āgataḥ sa svarṇadhūpādhāraṁ gr̥hītvā vēdimupātiṣṭhat sa ca yat siṁhāsanasyāntikē sthitāyāḥ suvarṇavēdyā upari sarvvēṣāṁ pavitralōkānāṁ prārthanāsu dhūpān yōjayēt tadarthaṁ pracuradhūpāstasmai dattāḥ|
And another angel came, and stood before the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given to him much incense, that he might present it with the prayers of all the saints, upon the golden altar which was before the throne.
4 tatastasya dūtasya karāt pavitralōkānāṁ prārthanābhiḥ saṁyuktadhūpānāṁ dhūma īśvarasya samakṣaṁ udatiṣṭhat|
And the smoke of the perfumes went up, with the prayers of the saints, from the hand of the angel, before God.
5 paścāt sa dūtō dhūpādhāraṁ gr̥hītvā vēdyā vahninā pūrayitvā pr̥thivyāṁ nikṣiptavān tēna ravā mēghagarjjanāni vidyutō bhūmikampaścābhavan|
And the angel took the censer, and filled it with the fire of the altar, and threw it upon the earth; and there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings, and an earthquake.
6 tataḥ paraṁ saptatūrī rdhārayantaḥ saptadūtāstūrī rvādayitum udyatā abhavan|
And the seven angels who had the seven trumpets, prepared themselves to sound.
7 prathamēna tūryyāṁ vāditāyāṁ raktamiśritau śilāvahnī sambhūya pr̥thivyāṁ nikṣiptau tēna pr̥thivyāstr̥tīyāṁśō dagdhaḥ, tarūṇāmapi tr̥tīyāṁśō dagdhaḥ, haridvarṇatr̥ṇāni ca sarvvāṇi dagdhāni|
And the first sounded; and there hail and fire, mingled with blood, and it was cast down upon the earth; and a third part of the trees was burnt up, and all the herbage was burnt up.
8 anantaraṁ dvitīyadūtēna tūryyāṁ vāditāyāṁ vahninā prajvalitō mahāparvvataḥ sāgarē nikṣiptastēna sāgarasya tr̥tīyāṁśō raktībhūtaḥ
And the second angel sounded; and it was as if a great mountain, burning with fire, was cast into the sea;
9 sāgarē sthitānāṁ saprāṇānāṁ sr̥ṣṭavastūnāṁ tr̥tīyāṁśō mr̥taḥ, arṇavayānānām api tr̥tīyāṁśō naṣṭaḥ|
and a third part of the creatures which had life in the sea, died; and a third part of the ships were destroyed.
10 aparaṁ tr̥tīyadūtēna tūryyāṁ vāditāyāṁ dīpa iva jvalantī ēkā mahatī tārā gagaṇāt nipatya nadīnāṁ jalaprasravaṇānāñcōparyyāvatīrṇā|
And the third angel sounded; and there fell from heaven a great star, blazing like a torch; and fell upon the third part of the rivers, and upon the fountains of waters:
11 tasyāstārāyā nāma nāgadamanakamiti, tēna tōyānāṁ tr̥tīyāṁśē nāgadamanakībhūtē tōyānāṁ tiktatvāt bahavō mānavā mr̥tāḥ|
and the name of the star was called Wormwood, and a third part of the waters became wormwood; and many men died of the waters, because they were become bitter.
12 aparaṁ caturthadūtēna tūryyāṁ vāditāyāṁ sūryyasya tr̥tīyāṁśaścandrasya tr̥tīyāṁśō nakṣatrāṇāñca tr̥tīyāṁśaḥ prahr̥taḥ, tēna tēṣāṁ tr̥tīyāṁśē 'ndhakārībhūtē divasastr̥tīyāṁśakālaṁ yāvat tējōhīnō bhavati niśāpi tāmēvāvasthāṁ gacchati|
And the fourth angel sounded; and the third part of the sun was smitten, and the third part of the moon, and the third part of the stars, so that the third part of them was darkened, and the day was obscured for a third part, and the night also.
13 tadā nirīkṣamāṇēna mayākāśamadhyēnābhipatata ēkasya dūtasya ravaḥ śrutaḥ sa uccai rgadati, aparai ryaistribhi rdūtaistūryyō vāditavyāstēṣām avaśiṣṭatūrīdhvanitaḥ pr̥thivīnivāsināṁ santāpaḥ santāpaḥ santāpaśca sambhaviṣyati|
And I beheld, and heard one of the angels flying in the midst of heaven, saying with a loud voice, Woe, woe, woe, to those who dwell upon the earth, for the remaining sounds of the trumpets of the three angels, which are yet to sound!
