< mathiḥ 28 >
1 tataḥ paraṁ viśrāmavārasya śēṣē saptāhaprathamadinasya prabhōtē jātē magdalīnī mariyam anyamariyam ca śmaśānaṁ draṣṭumāgatā|
Now after the Sabbath, as it began to dawn on the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary came to see the tomb.
2 tadā mahān bhūkampō'bhavat; paramēśvarīyadūtaḥ svargādavaruhya śmaśānadvārāt pāṣāṇamapasāryya taduparyyupavivēśa|
And look, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from the sky, and came and rolled away the stone, and sat on it.
3 tadvadanaṁ vidyudvat tējōmayaṁ vasanaṁ himaśubhrañca|
His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow.
4 tadānīṁ rakṣiṇastadbhayāt kampitā mr̥tavad babhūvaḥ|
For fear of him, the guards shook, and became like dead men.
5 sa dūtō yōṣitō jagāda, yūyaṁ mā bhaiṣṭa, kruśahatayīśuṁ mr̥gayadhvē tadahaṁ vēdmi|
The angel answered the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus, who has been crucified.
6 sō'tra nāsti, yathāvadat tathōtthitavān; ētat prabhōḥ śayanasthānaṁ paśyata|
He is not here, for he has risen, just like he said. Come, see the place where he was lying.
7 tūrṇaṁ gatvā tacchiṣyān iti vadata, sa śmaśānād udatiṣṭhat, yuṣmākamagrē gālīlaṁ yāsyati yūyaṁ tatra taṁ vīkṣiṣyadhvē, paśyatāhaṁ vārttāmimāṁ yuṣmānavādiṣaṁ|
Go quickly and tell his disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and look, he goes before you into Galilee; there you will see him.' See, I have told you."
8 tatastā bhayāt mahānandāñca śmaśānāt tūrṇaṁ bahirbhūya tacchiṣyān vārttāṁ vaktuṁ dhāvitavatyaḥ| kintu śiṣyān vārttāṁ vaktuṁ yānti, tadā yīśu rdarśanaṁ dattvā tā jagāda,
They departed quickly from the tomb, frightened yet with great joy, and ran to bring his disciples word.
9 yuṣmākaṁ kalyāṇaṁ bhūyāt, tatastā āgatya tatpādayōḥ patitvā praṇēmuḥ|
And look, Jesus met them, saying, "Rejoice!" And they came and took hold of his feet, and worshiped him.
10 yīśustā avādīt, mā bibhīta, yūyaṁ gatvā mama bhrātr̥n gālīlaṁ yātuṁ vadata, tatra tē māṁ drakṣyanti|
Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go tell my brothers that they should go into Galilee, and there they will see me."
11 striyō gacchanti, tadā rakṣiṇāṁ kēcit puraṁ gatvā yadyad ghaṭitaṁ tatsarvvaṁ pradhānayājakān jñāpitavantaḥ|
Now while they were going, look, some of the guards came into the city, and told the chief priests all the things that had happened.
12 tē prācīnaiḥ samaṁ saṁsadaṁ kr̥tvā mantrayantō bahumudrāḥ sēnābhyō dattvāvadan,
When they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave a large amount of silver to the soldiers,
13 asmāsu nidritēṣu tacchiṣyā yāminyāmāgatya taṁ hr̥tvānayan, iti yūyaṁ pracārayata|
saying, "Say that his disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept.
14 yadyētadadhipatēḥ śrōtragōcarībhavēt, tarhi taṁ bōdhayitvā yuṣmānaviṣyāmaḥ|
If this comes to the governor's ears, we will persuade him and make you free of worry."
15 tatastē mudrā gr̥hītvā śikṣānurūpaṁ karmma cakruḥ, yihūdīyānāṁ madhyē tasyādyāpi kiṁvadantī vidyatē|
So they took the money and did as they were told. This saying was spread abroad among the Jewish people, and continues until this day.
16 ēkādaśa śiṣyā yīśunirūpitāgālīlasyādriṁ gatvā
But the eleven disciples went into Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had sent them.
17 tatra taṁ saṁvīkṣya praṇēmuḥ, kintu kēcit sandigdhavantaḥ|
When they saw him, they bowed down to him, but some doubted.
18 yīśustēṣāṁ samīpamāgatya vyāhr̥tavān, svargamēdinyōḥ sarvvādhipatitvabhārō mayyarpita āstē|
Jesus came to them and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth.
19 atō yūyaṁ prayāya sarvvadēśīyān śiṣyān kr̥tvā pituḥ putrasya pavitrasyātmanaśca nāmnā tānavagāhayata; ahaṁ yuṣmān yadyadādiśaṁ tadapi pālayituṁ tānupādiśata|
Therefore go, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20 paśyata, jagadantaṁ yāvat sadāhaṁ yuṣmābhiḥ sākaṁ tiṣṭhāmi| iti| (aiōn )
teaching them to obey all things that I commanded you. And look, I am with you every day, even to the end of the age." (aiōn )
