1 aparaṁ tadviśrāmaprāptēḥ pratijñā yadi tiṣṭhati tarhyasmākaṁ kaścit cēt tasyāḥ phalēna vañcitō bhavēt vayam ētasmād bibhīmaḥ|
Timeamus ergo ne forte relicta pollicitatione introeundi in requiem eius, existimetur aliquis ex vobis deesse.
2 yatō 'smākaṁ samīpē yadvat tadvat tēṣāṁ samīpē'pi susaṁvādaḥ pracāritō 'bhavat kintu taiḥ śrutaṁ vākyaṁ tān prati niṣphalam abhavat, yatastē śrōtārō viśvāsēna sārddhaṁ tannāmiśrayan|
Etenim et nobis nunciatum est, quemadmodum et illis. Sed non profuit illis sermo auditus, non admistus fidei ex iis, quæ audierunt.
3 tad viśrāmasthānaṁ viśvāsibhirasmābhiḥ praviśyatē yatastēnōktaṁ, "ahaṁ kōpāt śapathaṁ kr̥tavān imaṁ, pravēkṣyatē janairētai rna viśrāmasthalaṁ mama|" kintu tasya karmmāṇi jagataḥ sr̥ṣṭikālāt samāptāni santi|
Ingrediemur enim in requiem, qui credidimus: quemadmodum dixit: Sicut iuravi in ira mea: Si introibunt in requiem meam: et quidem operibus ab institutione mundi perfectis.
4 yataḥ kasmiṁścit sthānē saptamaṁ dinamadhi tēnēdam uktaṁ, yathā, "īśvaraḥ saptamē dinē svakr̥tēbhyaḥ sarvvakarmmabhyō viśaśrāma|"
Dixit enim in quodam loco de die septima sic: Et requievit Deus die septima ab omnibus operibus suis.
5 kintvētasmin sthānē punastēnōcyatē, yathā, "pravēkṣyatē janairētai rna viśrāmasthalaṁ mama|"
Et in isto rursum: Si introibunt in requiem meam.
6 phalatastat sthānaṁ kaiścit pravēṣṭavyaṁ kintu yē purā susaṁvādaṁ śrutavantastairaviśvāsāt tanna praviṣṭam,
Quoniam ergo superest introire quosdam in illam, et ii, quibus prioribus annunciatum est, non introierunt propter incredulitatem:
7 iti hētōḥ sa punaradyanāmakaṁ dinaṁ nirūpya dīrghakālē gatē'pi pūrvvōktāṁ vācaṁ dāyūdā kathayati, yathā, "adya yūyaṁ kathāṁ tasya yadi saṁśrōtumicchatha, tarhi mā kurutēdānīṁ kaṭhināni manāṁsi vaḥ|"
Iterum terminat diem quendam, Hodie, in David dicendo, post tantum temporis, sicut supra dictum est: Hodie si vocem eius audieritis, nolite obdurare corda vestra.
8 aparaṁ yihōśūyō yadi tān vyaśrāmayiṣyat tarhi tataḥ param aparasya dinasya vāg īśvarēṇa nākathayiṣyata|
Nam si eis Iesus requiem præstitisset, numquam de alia loqueretur, posthac, die.
9 ata īśvarasya prajābhiḥ karttavya ēkō viśrāmastiṣṭhati|
Itaque relinquitur Sabbatismus populo Dei.
10 aparam īśvarō yadvat svakr̥takarmmabhyō viśaśrāma tadvat tasya viśrāmasthānaṁ praviṣṭō janō'pi svakr̥takarmmabhyō viśrāmyati|
Qui enim ingressus est in requiem eius: etiam ipse requievit ab operibus suis, sicut a suis Deus.
11 atō vayaṁ tad viśrāmasthānaṁ pravēṣṭuṁ yatāmahai, tadaviśvāsōdāharaṇēna kō'pi na patatu|
Festinemus ergo ingredi in illam requiem: ut ne in idipsum quis incidat incredulitatis exemplum.
12 īśvarasya vādō'maraḥ prabhāvaviśiṣṭaśca sarvvasmād dvidhārakhaṅgādapi tīkṣṇaḥ, aparaṁ prāṇātmanō rgranthimajjayōśca paribhēdāya vicchēdakārī manasaśca saṅkalpānām abhiprētānāñca vicārakaḥ|
Vivus est enim Sermo Dei, et efficax, et penetrabilior omni gladio ancipiti: et pertingens usque ad divisionem animæ ac spiritus, compagum quoque ac medullarum, et discretor cogitationum et intentionum cordis.
13 aparaṁ yasya samīpē svīyā svīyā kathāsmābhiḥ kathayitavyā tasyāgōcaraḥ kō'pi prāṇī nāsti tasya dr̥ṣṭau sarvvamēvānāvr̥taṁ prakāśitañcāstē|
Et non est ulla creatura invisibilis in conspectu eius: omnia autem nuda et aperta sunt oculis eius, ad quem nobis sermo.
14 aparaṁ ya uccatamaṁ svargaṁ praviṣṭa ētādr̥śa ēkō vyaktirarthata īśvarasya putrō yīśurasmākaṁ mahāyājakō'sti, atō hētō rvayaṁ dharmmapratijñāṁ dr̥ḍham ālambāmahai|
Habentes ergo Pontificem magnum, qui penetravit cælos, Iesum Filium Dei: teneamus confessionem.
15 asmākaṁ yō mahāyājakō 'sti sō'smākaṁ duḥkhai rduḥkhitō bhavitum aśaktō nahi kintu pāpaṁ vinā sarvvaviṣayē vayamiva parīkṣitaḥ|
Non enim habemus pontificem, qui non possit compati infirmitatibus nostris: tentatum autem per omnia pro similitudine absque peccato.
16 ataēva kr̥pāṁ grahītuṁ prayōjanīyōpakārārtham anugrahaṁ prāptuñca vayam utsāhēnānugrahasiṁhāsanasya samīpaṁ yāmaḥ|
Adeamus ergo cum fiducia ad thronum gratiæ: ut misericordiam consequamur, et gratiam inveniamus in auxilio opportuno.
