< iphiṣiṇaḥ 5 >

1 atō yūyaṁ priyabālakā ivēśvarasyānukāriṇō bhavata,
Be therefore imitators of God, as beloved children.
2 khrīṣṭa iva prēmācāraṁ kuruta ca, yataḥ sō'smāsu prēma kr̥tavān asmākaṁ vinimayēna cātmanivēdanaṁ kr̥tvā grāhyasugandhārthakam upahāraṁ baliñcēśvarāca dattavān|
And walk in love, even as Meshikha also loved us, and gave himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling fragrance.
3 kintu vēśyāgamanaṁ sarvvavidhāśaucakriyā lōbhaścaitēṣām uccāraṇamapi yuṣmākaṁ madhyē na bhavatu, ētadēva pavitralōkānām ucitaṁ|
But sexual immorality, and all uncleanness, or covetousness, let it not even be mentioned among you, as becomes saints;
4 aparaṁ kutsitālāpaḥ pralāpaḥ ślēṣōktiśca na bhavatu yata ētānyanucitāni kintvīśvarasya dhanyavādō bhavatu|
nor filthiness, nor foolish talking, nor jesting, which are not appropriate; but rather giving of thanks.
5 vēśyāgāmyaśaucācārī dēvapūjaka iva gaṇyō lōbhī caitēṣāṁ kōṣi khrīṣṭasya rājyē'rthata īśvarasya rājyē kamapyadhikāraṁ na prāpsyatīti yuṣmābhiḥ samyak jñāyatāṁ|
Know this for sure, that no sexually immoral or impure or greedy person, that is, an idolater, has any inheritance in the Kingdom of Meshikha and God.
6 anarthakavākyēna kō'pi yuṣmān na vañcayatu yatastādr̥gācārahētōranājñāgrāhiṣu lōkēṣvīśvarasya kōpō varttatē|
Let no one deceive you with empty words. For because of these things, the wrath of God comes on the children of disobedience.
7 tasmād yūyaṁ taiḥ sahabhāginō na bhavata|
Therefore do not be partakers with them.
8 pūrvvaṁ yūyam andhakārasvarūpā ādhvaṁ kintvidānīṁ prabhunā dīptisvarūpā bhavatha tasmād dīptēḥ santānā iva samācarata|
For you were once darkness, but are now light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
9 dīptē ryat phalaṁ tat sarvvavidhahitaiṣitāyāṁ dharmmē satyālāpē ca prakāśatē|
for the fruit of the light is in all goodness and righteousness and truth,
10 prabhavē yad rōcatē tat parīkṣadhvaṁ|
proving what is well pleasing to the Lord.
11 yūyaṁ timirasya viphalakarmmaṇām aṁśinō na bhūtvā tēṣāṁ dōṣitvaṁ prakāśayata|
Have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather even reprove them.
12 yatastē lōkā rahami yad yad ācaranti taduccāraṇam api lajjājanakaṁ|
For the things which are done by them in secret, it is a shame even to speak of.
13 yatō dīptyā yad yat prakāśyatē tat tayā cakāsyatē yacca cakāsti tad dīptisvarūpaṁ bhavati|
But all things, when they are reproved, are revealed by the light, for everything that reveals is light.
14 ētatkāraṇād uktam āstē, "hē nidrita prabudhyasva mr̥tēbhyaścōtthitiṁ kuru| tatkr̥tē sūryyavat khrīṣṭaḥ svayaṁ tvāṁ dyōtayiṣyati|"
Therefore he says, "Awake, you who sleep, and rise from the dead, and Meshikha will shine on you."
15 ataḥ sāvadhānā bhavata, ajñānā iva mācarata kintu jñānina iva satarkam ācarata|
Therefore watch carefully how you walk, not as unwise, but as wise;
16 samayaṁ bahumūlyaṁ gaṇayadhvaṁ yataḥ kālā abhadrāḥ|
redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 tasmād yūyam ajñānā na bhavata kintu prabhōrabhimataṁ kiṁ tadavagatā bhavata|
Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
18 sarvvanāśajanakēna surāpānēna mattā mā bhavata kintvātmanā pūryyadhvaṁ|
Do not get drunk with wine, which is debauchery, but be filled with the Rukha,
19 aparaṁ gītai rgānaiḥ pāramārthikakīrttanaiśca parasparam ālapantō manasā sārddhaṁ prabhum uddiśya gāyata vādayata ca|
speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making music in your heart to the Lord;
20 sarvvadā sarvvaviṣayē'smatprabhō yīśōḥ khrīṣṭasya nāmnā tātam īśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ vadata|
giving thanks always concerning all things in the name of our Lord Yeshua Meshikha to God the Father;
21 yūyam īśvarād bhītāḥ santa anyē'parēṣāṁ vaśībhūtā bhavata|
subjecting yourselves one to another in the fear of Meshikha.
22 hē yōṣitaḥ, yūyaṁ yathā prabhōstathā svasvasvāminō vaśaṅgatā bhavata|
Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
23 yataḥ khrīṣṭō yadvat samitē rmūrddhā śarīrasya trātā ca bhavati tadvat svāmī yōṣitō mūrddhā|
For the husband is the head of the wife, and Meshikha also is the head of the church, being himself the savior of the body.
24 ataḥ samiti ryadvat khrīṣṭasya vaśībhūtā tadvad yōṣidbhirapi svasvasvāminō vaśatā svīkarttavyā|
But as the church is subject to Meshikha, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything.
25 aparañca hē puruṣāḥ, yūyaṁ khrīṣṭa iva svasvayōṣitsu prīyadhvaṁ|
Husbands, love your wives, even as Meshikha also loved the church, and gave himself up for it;
26 sa khrīṣṭō'pi samitau prītavān tasyāḥ kr̥tē ca svaprāṇān tyaktavān yataḥ sa vākyē jalamajjanēna tāṁ pariṣkr̥tya pāvayitum
that he might sanctify it, having cleansed it by the washing of water with the word,
27 aparaṁ tilakavalyādivihīnāṁ pavitrāṁ niṣkalaṅkāñca tāṁ samitiṁ tējasvinīṁ kr̥tvā svahastē samarpayituñcābhilaṣitavān|
that he might present the church to himself gloriously, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
28 tasmāt svatanuvat svayōṣiti prēmakaraṇaṁ puruṣasyōcitaṁ, yēna svayōṣiti prēma kriyatē tēnātmaprēma kriyatē|
Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
29 kō'pi kadāpi na svakīyāṁ tanum r̥tīyitavān kintu sarvvē tāṁ vibhrati puṣṇanti ca| khrīṣṭō'pi samitiṁ prati tadēva karōti,
For no one ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as Meshikha also does the church;
30 yatō vayaṁ tasya śarīrasyāṅgāni māṁsāsthīni ca bhavāmaḥ|
because we are members of his body, of his flesh and of his bones.
31 ētadarthaṁ mānavaḥ svamātāpitarō parityajya svabhāryyāyām āsaṁkṣyati tau dvau janāvēkāṅgau bhaviṣyataḥ|
"For this cause a man will leave his father and mother, and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh."
32 ētannigūḍhavākyaṁ gurutaraṁ mayā ca khrīṣṭasamitī adhi tad ucyatē|
This mystery is great, but I speak concerning Meshikha and of the church.
33 ataēva yuṣmākam ēkaikō jana ātmavat svayōṣiti prīyatāṁ bhāryyāpi svāminaṁ samādarttuṁ yatatāṁ|
Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.
