< prēritāḥ 6 >
1 tasmin samayē śiṣyāṇāṁ bāhulyāt prātyahikadānasya viśrāṇanai rbhinnadēśīyānāṁ vidhavāstrīgaṇa upēkṣitē sati ibrīyalōkaiḥ sahānyadēśīyānāṁ vivāda upātiṣṭhat|
Now in those days, when the number of the disciples was multiplying, a complaint arose from the Hellenists against the Hebrews, because their widows were neglected in the daily service.
2 tadā dvādaśaprēritāḥ sarvvān śiṣyān saṁgr̥hyākathayan īśvarasya kathāpracāraṁ parityajya bhōjanagavēṣaṇam asmākam ucitaṁ nahi|
So the twelve summoned the full number of the disciples and said, "It is not appropriate for us to forsake the word of God and serve tables.
3 atō hē bhrātr̥gaṇa vayam ētatkarmmaṇō bhāraṁ yēbhyō dātuṁ śaknuma ētādr̥śān sukhyātyāpannān pavitrēṇātmanā jñānēna ca pūrṇān sapprajanān yūyaṁ svēṣāṁ madhyē manōnītān kuruta,
Therefore select from among you, brothers, seven men of good report, full of the Rukha and of wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.
4 kintu vayaṁ prārthanāyāṁ kathāpracārakarmmaṇi ca nityapravr̥ttāḥ sthāsyāmaḥ|
But we will continue steadfastly in prayer and in the ministry of the word."
5 ētasyāṁ kathāyāṁ sarvvē lōkāḥ santuṣṭāḥ santaḥ svēṣāṁ madhyāt stiphānaḥ philipaḥ prakharō nikānōr tīman parmmiṇā yihūdimatagrāhī-āntiyakhiyānagarīyō nikalā ētān paramabhaktān pavitrēṇātmanā paripūrṇān sapta janān
And these words pleased the whole gathering. They chose Astapanos, a man full of faith and of the Rukha d'Qudsha, Philipus, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolaus, a proselyte of Antioch;
6 prēritānāṁ samakṣam ānayan, tatastē prārthanāṁ kr̥tvā tēṣāṁ śiraḥsu hastān ārpayan|
whom they set before the apostles. When they had prayed, they laid their hands on them.
7 aparañca īśvarasya kathā dēśaṁ vyāpnōt viśēṣatō yirūśālami nagarē śiṣyāṇāṁ saṁkhyā prabhūtarūpēṇāvarddhata yājakānāṁ madhyēpi bahavaḥ khrīṣṭamatagrāhiṇō'bhavan|
The word of God increased and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Urishlim; and a large group of the priests were obedient to the faith.
8 stiphānō viśvāsēna parākramēṇa ca paripūrṇaḥ san lōkānāṁ madhyē bahuvidham adbhutam āścaryyaṁ karmmākarōt|
Astapanos, full of grace and power, performed great wonders and signs among the people.
9 tēna libarttinīyanāmnā vikhyātasaṅghasya katipayajanāḥ kurīṇīyasikandarīya-kilikīyāśīyādēśīyāḥ kiyantō janāścōtthāya stiphānēna sārddhaṁ vyavadanta|
But some of those who were of the synagogue called "The Libertines," and of the Cyrenians, of the Alexandrians, and of those of Cilicia and Asia arose, disputing with Astapanos.
10 kintu stiphānō jñānēna pavitrēṇātmanā ca īdr̥śīṁ kathāṁ kathitavān yasyāstē āpattiṁ karttuṁ nāśaknuvan|
They weren't able to withstand the wisdom and the Rukha by which he spoke.
11 paścāt tai rlōbhitāḥ katipayajanāḥ kathāmēnām akathayan, vayaṁ tasya mukhatō mūsā īśvarasya ca nindāvākyam aśrauṣma|
Then they secretly induced men to say, "We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Mushe and God."
12 tē lōkānāṁ lōkaprācīnānām adhyāpakānāñca pravr̥ttiṁ janayitvā stiphānasya sannidhim āgatya taṁ dhr̥tvā mahāsabhāmadhyam ānayan|
They stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes, and came against him and seized him, and brought him in to the council,
13 tadanantaraṁ katipayajanēṣu mithyāsākṣiṣu samānītēṣu tē'kathayan ēṣa jana ētatpuṇyasthānavyavasthayō rnindātaḥ kadāpi na nivarttatē|
and set up false witnesses who said, "This man never stops speaking blasphemous words against this holy place and the Law.
14 phalatō nāsaratīyayīśuḥ sthānamētad ucchinnaṁ kariṣyati mūsāsamarpitam asmākaṁ vyavaharaṇam anyarūpaṁ kariṣyati tasyaitādr̥śīṁ kathāṁ vayam aśr̥ṇuma|
For we have heard him say that this Yeshua the Natsraya will destroy this place, and will change the customs which Mushe delivered to us."
15 tadā mahāsabhāsthāḥ sarvvē taṁ prati sthirāṁ dr̥ṣṭiṁ kr̥tvā svargadūtamukhasadr̥śaṁ tasya mukham apaśyan|
All who sat in the council, fastening their eyes on him, saw his face like it was the face of an angel.
