1 hē bhrātaraḥ, śēṣē vadāmi, yūyam asmabhyamidaṁ prārthayadhvaṁ yat prabhō rvākyaṁ yuṣmākaṁ madhyē yathā tathaivānyatrāpi pracarēt mānyañca bhavēt;
Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:
2 yacca vayam avivēcakēbhyō duṣṭēbhyaśca lōkēbhyō rakṣāṁ prāpnuyāma yataḥ sarvvēṣāṁ viśvāsō na bhavati|
And that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men: for all men have not faith.
3 kintu prabhu rviśvāsyaḥ sa ēva yuṣmān sthirīkariṣyati duṣṭasya karād uddhariṣyati ca|
But the Lord is faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil.
4 yūyam asmābhi ryad ādiśyadhvē tat kurutha kariṣyatha cēti viśvāsō yuṣmānadhi prabhunāsmākaṁ jāyatē|
And we have confidence in the Lord touching you, that you both do and will do the things which we command you.
5 īśvarasya prēmni khrīṣṭasya sahiṣṇutāyāñca prabhuḥ svayaṁ yuṣmākam antaḥkaraṇāni vinayatu|
And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.
6 hē bhrātaraḥ, asmatprabhō ryīśukhrīṣṭasya nāmnā vayaṁ yuṣmān idam ādiśāmaḥ, asmattō yuṣmābhi ryā śikṣalambhi tāṁ vihāya kaścid bhrātā yadyavihitācāraṁ karōti tarhi yūyaṁ tasmāt pr̥thag bhavata|
Now we command you, brothers, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you withdraw yourselves from every brother that walks disorderly, and not after the tradition which he received of us.
7 yatō vayaṁ yuṣmābhiḥ katham anukarttavyāstad yūyaṁ svayaṁ jānītha| yuṣmākaṁ madhyē vayam avihitācāriṇō nābhavāma,
For yourselves know how you ought to follow us: for we behaved not ourselves disorderly among you;
8 vināmūlyaṁ kasyāpyannaṁ nābhuṁjmahi kintu kō'pi yad asmābhi rbhāragrastō na bhavēt tadarthaṁ śramēṇa klēśēna ca divāniśaṁ kāryyam akurmma|
Neither did we eat any man’s bread for nothing; but worked with labor and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
9 atrāsmākam adhikārō nāstītthaṁ nahi kintvasmākam anukaraṇāya yuṣmān dr̥ṣṭāntaṁ darśayitum icchantastad akurmma|
Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample to you to follow us.
10 yatō yēna kāryyaṁ na kriyatē tēnāhārō'pi na kriyatāmiti vayaṁ yuṣmatsamīpa upasthitikālē'pi yuṣmān ādiśāma|
For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
11 yuṣmanmadhyē 'vihitācāriṇaḥ kē'pi janā vidyantē tē ca kāryyam akurvvanta ālasyam ācarantītyasmābhiḥ śrūyatē|
For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
12 tādr̥śān lōkān asmataprabhō ryīśukhrīṣṭasya nāmnā vayam idam ādiśāma ājñāpayāmaśca, tē śāntabhāvēna kāryyaṁ kurvvantaḥ svakīyamannaṁ bhuñjatāṁ|
Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
13 aparaṁ hē bhrātaraḥ, yūyaṁ sadācaraṇē na klāmyata|
But you, brothers, be not weary in well doing.
14 yadi ca kaścidētatpatrē likhitām asmākam ājñāṁ na gr̥hlāti tarhi yūyaṁ taṁ mānuṣaṁ lakṣayata tasya saṁsargaṁ tyajata ca tēna sa trapiṣyatē|
And if any man obey not our word by this letter, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed.
15 kintu taṁ na śatruṁ manyamānā bhrātaramiva cētayata|
Yet count him not as an enemy, but admonish him as a brother.
16 śāntidātā prabhuḥ sarvvatra sarvvathā yuṣmabhyaṁ śāntiṁ dēyāt| prabhu ryuṣmākaṁ sarvvēṣāṁ saṅgī bhūyāt|
Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means. The Lord be with you all.
17 namaskāra ēṣa paulasya mama karēṇa likhitō'bhūt sarvvasmin patra ētanmama cihnam ētādr̥śairakṣarai rmayā likhyatē|
The salutation of Paul with my own hand, which is the token in every letter: so I write.
18 asmākaṁ prabhō ryīśukhrīṣṭasyānugrahaḥ sarvvēṣu yuṣmāsu bhūyāt| āmēn|
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.
