1 karinthinaḥ 6

1 yuṣmākamēkasya janasyāparēṇa saha vivādē jātē sa pavitralōkai rvicāramakārayan kim adhārmmikalōkai rvicārayituṁ prōtsahatē?

If any of you has a dispute against another, does he dare go to court before the unrighteous, instead of the saints?

2 jagatō'pi vicāraṇaṁ pavitralōkaiḥ kāriṣyata ētad yūyaṁ kiṁ na jānītha? atō jagad yadi yuṣmābhi rvicārayitavyaṁ tarhi kṣudratamavicārēṣu yūyaṁ kimasamarthāḥ?

Do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

3 dūtā apyasmābhi rvicārayiṣyanta iti kiṁ na jānītha? ata aihikaviṣayāḥ kim asmābhi rna vicārayitavyā bhavēyuḥ?

Do you not know that we will judge angels? How much more, things that pertain to this life?

4 aihikaviṣayasya vicārē yuṣmābhiḥ karttavyē yē lōkāḥ samitau kṣudratamāsta ēva niyujyantāṁ|

If then, you have to judge things pertaining to this life, do you set them to judge who have no standing in the church?

5 ahaṁ yuṣmān trapayitumicchan vadāmi yr̥ṣmanmadhyē kimēkō'pi manuṣyastādr̥g buddhimānnahi yō bhrātr̥vivādavicāraṇē samarthaḥ syāt?

I say this to move you to shame. Is not there even one wise person among you who would be able to decide between a brother and his brother?

6 kiñcaikō bhrātā bhrātrānyēna kimaviśvāsināṁ vicārakāṇāṁ sākṣād vivadatē? yaṣmanmadhyē vivādā vidyanta ētadapi yuṣmākaṁ dōṣaḥ|

But brother goes to law with brother, and that before unbelievers.

7 yūyaṁ kutō'nyāyasahanaṁ kṣatisahanaṁ vā śrēyō na manyadhvē?

Actually, it is already a defeat for you, that you have lawsuits among yourselves. Why not rather be wronged? Why not rather be cheated?

8 kintu yūyamapi bhrātr̥nēva pratyanyāyaṁ kṣatiñca kurutha kimētat?

No, but you yourselves do wrong, and cheat, and that against your brothers.

9 īśvarasya rājyē'nyāyakāriṇāṁ lōkānāmadhikārō nāstyētad yūyaṁ kiṁ na jānītha? mā vañcyadhvaṁ, yē vyabhicāriṇō dēvārccinaḥ pāradārikāḥ strīvadācāriṇaḥ puṁmaithunakāriṇastaskarā

Or do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the Kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor men who have sexual relations with men,

10 lōbhinō madyapā nindakā upadrāviṇō vā ta īśvarasya rājyabhāginō na bhaviṣyanti|

nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor slanderers, nor swindlers, will inherit the Kingdom of God.

11 yūyañcaivaṁvidhā lōkā āsta kintu prabhō ryīśō rnāmnāsmadīśvarasyātmanā ca yūyaṁ prakṣālitāḥ pāvitāḥ sapuṇyīkr̥tāśca|

Such were some of you, but you were washed. But you were sanctified. But you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, and in the Spirit of our God.

12 madarthaṁ sarvvaṁ dravyam apratiṣiddhaṁ kintu na sarvvaṁ hitajanakaṁ|madarthaṁ sarvvamapratiṣiddhaṁ tathāpyahaṁ kasyāpi dravyasya vaśīkr̥tō na bhaviṣyāmi|

"All things are lawful for me," but not all things are expedient. "All things are lawful for me," but I will not be brought under the power of anything.

13 udarāya bhakṣyāṇi bhakṣyēbhyaścōdaraṁ, kintu bhakṣyōdarē īśvarēṇa nāśayiṣyētē; aparaṁ dēhō na vyabhicārāya kintu prabhavē prabhuśca dēhāya|

"Foods for the belly, and the belly for foods," but God will bring to nothing both it and them. But the body is not for sexual immorality, but for the Lord; and the Lord for the body.

14 yaścēśvaraḥ prabhumutthāpitavān sa svaśaktyāsmānapyutthāpayiṣyati|

Now God raised up the Lord, and will also raise us up by his power.

15 yuṣmākaṁ yāni śarīrāṇi tāni khrīṣṭasyāṅgānīti kiṁ yūyaṁ na jānītha? ataḥ khrīṣṭasya yānyaṅgāni tāni mayāpahr̥tya vēśyāyā aṅgāni kiṁ kāriṣyantē? tanna bhavatu|

Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Should I then take the members of Christ, and make them members of a prostitute? Absolutely not.

16 yaḥ kaścid vēśyāyām āsajyatē sa tayā sahaikadēhō bhavati kiṁ yūyamētanna jānītha? yatō likhitamāstē, yathā, tau dvau janāvēkāṅgau bhaviṣyataḥ|

Or do you not know that he who is joined to a prostitute is one body? For he says, "The two will become one flesh."

17 mānavā yānyanyāni kaluṣāṇi kurvvatē tāni vapu rna samāviśanti kintu vyabhicāriṇā svavigrahasya viruddhaṁ kalmaṣaṁ kriyatē|

But he who is joined to the Lord is one spirit.

18 mānavā yānyanyāni kaluṣāṇi kurvvatē tāni vapu rna samāviśanti kintu vyabhicāriṇā svavigrahasya viruddhaṁ kalmaṣaṁ kriyatē|

Flee sexual immorality. "Every sin that a person does is outside the body," but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body.

19 yuṣmākaṁ yāni vapūṁsi tāni yuṣmadantaḥsthitasyēśvarāllabdhasya pavitrasyātmanō mandirāṇi yūyañca svēṣāṁ svāminō nādhvē kimētad yuṣmābhi rna jñāyatē?

Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own,

20 yūyaṁ mūlyēna krītā atō vapurmanōbhyām īśvarō yuṣmābhiḥ pūjyatāṁ yata īśvara ēva tayōḥ svāmī|

for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body.
