1 hē bhrātaraḥ, yaḥ susaṁvādō mayā yuṣmatsamīpē nivēditō yūyañca yaṁ gr̥hītavanta āśritavantaśca taṁ puna ryuṣmān vijñāpayāmi|
Notum autem vobis facio, fratres, Evangelium, quod praedicavi vobis, quod et accepistis, in quo et statis,
2 yuṣmākaṁ viśvāsō yadi vitathō na bhavēt tarhi susaṁvādayuktāni mama vākyāni smaratāṁ yuṣmākaṁ tēna susaṁvādēna paritrāṇaṁ jāyatē|
per quod et salvamini: qua ratione praedicaverim vobis, si tenetis, nisi frustra credidistis.
3 yatō'haṁ yad yat jñāpitastadanusārāt yuṣmāsu mukhyāṁ yāṁ śikṣāṁ samārpayaṁ sēyaṁ, śāstrānusārāt khrīṣṭō'smākaṁ pāpamōcanārthaṁ prāṇān tyaktavān,
Tradidi enim vobis in primis quod et accepi: quoniam Christus mortuus est pro peccatis nostris secundum Scripturas:
4 śmaśānē sthāpitaśca tr̥tīyadinē śāstrānusārāt punarutthāpitaḥ|
et quia sepultus est, et quia resurrexit tertia die secundum Scripturas:
5 sa cāgrē kaiphai tataḥ paraṁ dvādaśaśiṣyēbhyō darśanaṁ dattavān|
et quia visus est Cephae, et post hoc undecim:
6 tataḥ paraṁ pañcaśatādhikasaṁkhyakēbhyō bhrātr̥bhyō yugapad darśanaṁ dattavān tēṣāṁ kēcit mahānidrāṁ gatā bahutarāścādyāpi varttantē|
Deinde visus est plus quam quingentis fratribus simul: ex quibus multi manent usque adhuc, quidam autem dormierunt:
7 tadanantaraṁ yākūbāya tatpaścāt sarvvēbhyaḥ prēritēbhyō darśanaṁ dattavān|
Deinde visus est Iacobo, deinde Apostolis omnibus:
8 sarvvaśēṣē'kālajātatulyō yō'haṁ, sō'hamapi tasya darśanaṁ prāptavān|
Novissime autem omnium tamquam abortivo, visus est et mihi.
9 īśvarasya samitiṁ prati daurātmyācaraṇād ahaṁ prēritanāma dharttum ayōgyastasmāt prēritānāṁ madhyē kṣudratamaścāsmi|
Ego enim sum minimus Apostolorum, qui non sum dignus vocari Apostolus, quoniam persecutus sum Ecclesiam Dei.
10 yādr̥śō'smi tādr̥śa īśvarasyānugrahēṇaivāsmi; aparaṁ māṁ prati tasyānugrahō niṣphalō nābhavat, anyēbhyaḥ sarvvēbhyō mayādhikaḥ śramaḥ kr̥taḥ, kintu sa mayā kr̥tastannahi matsahakāriṇēśvarasyānugrahēṇaiva|
Gratia autem Dei sum id, quod sum, et gratia eius in me vacua non fuit, sed abundantius illis omnibus laboravi: non ego autem, sed gratia Dei mecum:
11 ataēva mayā bhavēt tai rvā bhavēt asmābhistādr̥śī vārttā ghōṣyatē saiva ca yuṣmābhi rviśvāsēna gr̥hītā|
Sive enim ego, sive illi: sic praedicavimus, et sic credidistis.
12 mr̥tyudaśātaḥ khrīṣṭa utthāpita iti vārttā yadi tamadhi ghōṣyatē tarhi mr̥talōkānām utthiti rnāstīti vāg yuṣmākaṁ madhyē kaiścit kutaḥ kathyatē?
Si autem Christus praedicatur quod resurrexit a mortuis, quomodo quidam dicunt in vobis, quoniam resurrectio mortuorum non est?
13 mr̥tānām utthiti ryadi na bhavēt tarhi khrīṣṭō'pi nōtthāpitaḥ
Si autem resurrectio mortuorum non est: neque Christus resurrexit.
14 khrīṣṭaśca yadyanutthāpitaḥ syāt tarhyasmākaṁ ghōṣaṇaṁ vitathaṁ yuṣmākaṁ viśvāsō'pi vitathaḥ|
Si autem Christus non resurrexit, inanis est praedicatio nostra, inanis est et fides vestra:
15 vayañcēśvarasya mr̥ṣāsākṣiṇō bhavāmaḥ, yataḥ khrīṣṭa stēnōtthāpitaḥ iti sākṣyam asmābhirīśvaramadhi dattaṁ kintu mr̥tānāmutthiti ryadi na bhavēt tarhi sa tēna nōtthāpitaḥ|
invenimur autem et falsi testes Dei: quoniam testimonium diximus adversus Deum quod suscitaverit Christum, quem non suscitavit, si mortui non resurgunt.
16 yatō mr̥tānāmutthiti ryati na bhavēt tarhi khrīṣṭō'pyutthāpitatvaṁ na gataḥ|
Nam si mortui non resurgunt, neque Christus resurrexit.
17 khrīṣṭasya yadyanutthāpitaḥ syāt tarhi yuṣmākaṁ viśvāsō vitathaḥ, yūyam adyāpi svapāpēṣu magnāstiṣṭhatha|
Quod si Christus non resurrexit, vana est fides vestra, adhuc enim estis in peccatis vestris.
18 aparaṁ khrīṣṭāśritā yē mānavā mahānidrāṁ gatāstē'pi nāśaṁ gatāḥ|
Ergo et qui dormierunt in Christo, perierunt.
19 khrīṣṭō yadi kēvalamihalōkē 'smākaṁ pratyāśābhūmiḥ syāt tarhi sarvvamartyēbhyō vayamēva durbhāgyāḥ|
Si in hac vita tantum in Christo sperantes sumus, miserabiliores sumus omnibus hominibus.
20 idānīṁ khrīṣṭō mr̥tyudaśāta utthāpitō mahānidrāgatānāṁ madhyē prathamaphalasvarūpō jātaśca|
Nunc autem Christus resurrexit a mortuis primitiae dormientium,
21 yatō yadvat mānuṣadvārā mr̥tyuḥ prādurbhūtastadvat mānuṣadvārā mr̥tānāṁ punarutthitirapi pradurbhūtā|
quoniam quidem per hominem mors, et per hominem resurrectio mortuorum.
22 ādamā yathā sarvvē maraṇādhīnā jātāstathā khrīṣṭēna sarvvē jīvayiṣyantē|
Et sicut in Adam omnes moriuntur, ita et in Christo omnes vivificabuntur.
23 kintvēkaikēna janēna nijē nijē paryyāya utthātavyaṁ prathamataḥ prathamajātaphalasvarūpēna khrīṣṭēna, dvitīyatastasyāgamanasamayē khrīṣṭasya lōkaiḥ|
Unusquisque autem in suo ordine, primitiae Christus: deinde ii, qui sunt Christi, qui in adventu eius crediderunt.
24 tataḥ param antō bhaviṣyati tadānīṁ sa sarvvaṁ śāsanam adhipatitvaṁ parākramañca luptvā svapitarīśvarē rājatvaṁ samarpayiṣyati|
Deinde finis: cum tradiderit regnum Deo et Patri, cum evacuaverit omnem principatum, et potestatem, et virtutem.
25 yataḥ khrīṣṭasya ripavaḥ sarvvē yāvat tēna svapādayōradhō na nipātayiṣyantē tāvat tēnaiva rājatvaṁ karttavyaṁ|
Oportet autem illum regnare donec ponat omnes inimicos sub pedibus eius.
26 tēna vijētavyō yaḥ śēṣaripuḥ sa mr̥tyurēva|
Novissime autem inimica destruetur mors: Omnia enim subiecit pedibus eius. Cum autem haec dicat:
27 likhitamāstē sarvvāṇi tasya pādayō rvaśīkr̥tāni| kintu sarvvāṇyēva tasya vaśīkr̥tānītyuktē sati sarvvāṇi yēna tasya vaśīkr̥tāni sa svayaṁ tasya vaśībhūtō na jāta iti vyaktaṁ|
Omnia subiecta sunt ei, sine dubio praeter eum, qui subiecit ei omnia.
28 sarvvēṣu tasya vaśībhūtēṣu sarvvāṇi yēna putrasya vaśīkr̥tāni svayaṁ putrō'pi tasya vaśībhūtō bhaviṣyati tata īśvaraḥ sarvvēṣu sarvva ēva bhaviṣyati|
Cum autem subiecta fuerint illi omnia: tunc et ipse Filius subiectus erit ei, qui subiecit sibi omnia, ut sit Deus omnia in omnibus.
29 aparaṁ parētalōkānāṁ vinimayēna yē majjyantē taiḥ kiṁ lapsyatē? yēṣāṁ parētalōkānām utthitiḥ kēnāpi prakārēṇa na bhaviṣyati tēṣāṁ vinimayēna kutō majjanamapi tairaṅgīkriyatē?
Alioquin quid facient qui baptizantur pro mortuis, si omnino mortui non resurgunt? ut quid et baptizantur pro illis?
30 vayamapi kutaḥ pratidaṇḍaṁ prāṇabhītim aṅgīkurmmahē?
ut quid et nos periclitamur omni hora?
31 asmatprabhunā yīśukhrīṣṭēna yuṣmattō mama yā ślāghāstē tasyāḥ śapathaṁ kr̥tvā kathayāmi dinē dinē'haṁ mr̥tyuṁ gacchāmi|
Quotidie morior propter vestram gloriam, fratres, quam habeo in Christo Iesu Domino nostro.
32 iphiṣanagarē vanyapaśubhiḥ sārddhaṁ yadi laukikabhāvāt mayā yuddhaṁ kr̥taṁ tarhi tēna mama kō lābhaḥ? mr̥tānām utthiti ryadi na bhavēt tarhi, kurmmō bhōjanapānē'dya śvastu mr̥tyu rbhaviṣyati|
Si (secundum hominem) ad bestias pugnavi Ephesi, quid mihi prodest, si mortui non resurgunt? manducemus, et bibamus, cras enim moriemur.
33 ityanēna dharmmāt mā bhraṁśadhvaṁ| kusaṁsargēṇa lōkānāṁ sadācārō vinaśyati|
Nolite seduci: Corrumpunt mores bonos colloquia mala.
34 yūyaṁ yathōcitaṁ sacaitanyāstiṣṭhata, pāpaṁ mā kurudhvaṁ, yatō yuṣmākaṁ madhya īśvarīyajñānahīnāḥ kē'pi vidyantē yuṣmākaṁ trapāyai mayēdaṁ gadyatē|
Evigilate iusti, et nolite peccare: ignorantiam enim Dei quidam habent, ad reverentiam vobis loquor.
35 aparaṁ mr̥talōkāḥ katham utthāsyanti? kīdr̥śaṁ vā śarīraṁ labdhvā punarēṣyantīti vākyaṁ kaścit prakṣyati|
Sed dicet aliquis: Quomodo resurgunt mortui? qualive corpore venient?
36 hē ajña tvayā yad bījam upyatē tad yadi na mriyēta tarhi na jīvayiṣyatē|
Insipiens, tu quod seminas non vivificatur, nisi prius moriatur.
37 yayā mūrttyā nirgantavyaṁ sā tvayā nōpyatē kintu śuṣkaṁ bījamēva; tacca gōdhūmādīnāṁ kimapi bījaṁ bhavituṁ śaknōti|
Et quod seminas, non corpus, quod futurum est, seminas, sed nudum granum, ut puta tritici, aut alicuius ceterorum.
38 īśvarēṇēva yathābhilāṣaṁ tasmai mūrtti rdīyatē, ēkaikasmai bījāya svā svā mūrttirēva dīyatē|
Deus autem dat illi corpus sicut vult: ut unicuique seminum proprium corpus.
39 sarvvāṇi palalāni naikavidhāni santi, manuṣyapaśupakṣimatsyādīnāṁ bhinnarūpāṇi palalāni santi|
Non omnis caro, eadem caro: sed alia quidem hominum, alia vero pecorum, alia volucrum, alia autem piscium.
40 aparaṁ svargīyā mūrttayaḥ pārthivā mūrttayaśca vidyantē kintu svargīyānām ēkarūpaṁ tējaḥ pārthivānāñca tadanyarūpaṁ tējō'sti|
Et corpora caelestia, et corpora terrestria: sed alia quidem caelestium gloria, alia autem terrestrium:
41 sūryyasya tēja ēkavidhaṁ candrasya tējastadanyavidhaṁ tārāṇāñca tējō'nyavidhaṁ, tārāṇāṁ madhyē'pi tējasastāratamyaṁ vidyatē|
Alia claritas solis, alia claritas lunae, et alia claritas stellarum. Stella enim a stella differt in claritate:
42 tatra likhitamāstē yathā, ‘ādipuruṣa ādam jīvatprāṇī babhūva,’ kintvantima ādam (khrīṣṭō) jīvanadāyaka ātmā babhūva|
sic et resurrectio mortuorum. Seminatur in corruptione, surget in incorruptione.
43 yad upyatē tat tucchaṁ yaccōtthāsyati tad gauravānvitaṁ; yad upyatē tannirbbalaṁ yaccōtthāsyati tat śaktiyuktaṁ|
Seminatur in ignobilitate, surget in gloria: Seminatur in infirmitate, surget in virtute:
44 yat śarīram upyatē tat prāṇānāṁ sadma, yacca śarīram utthāsyati tad ātmanaḥ sadma| prāṇasadmasvarūpaṁ śarīraṁ vidyatē, ātmasadmasvarūpamapi śarīraṁ vidyatē|
Seminatur corpus animale, surget corpus spiritale. Si est corpus animale, est et spiritale, sicut scriptum est:
45 tatra likhitamāstē yathā, ādipuruṣa ādam jīvatprāṇī babhūva, kintvantima ādam (khrīṣṭō) jīvanadāyaka ātmā babhūva|
Factus est primus homo Adam in animam viventem, novissimus Adam in spiritum vivificantem.
46 ātmasadma na prathamaṁ kintu prāṇasadmaiva tatpaścād ātmasadma|
Sed non prius quod spiritale est, sed quod animale: deinde quod spiritale.
47 ādyaḥ puruṣē mr̥da utpannatvāt mr̥ṇmayō dvitīyaśca puruṣaḥ svargād āgataḥ prabhuḥ|
Primus homo de terra, terrenus: secundus homo de caelo, caelestis.
48 mr̥ṇmayō yādr̥śa āsīt mr̥ṇmayāḥ sarvvē tādr̥śā bhavanti svargīyaśca yādr̥śō'sti svargīyāḥ sarvvē tādr̥śā bhavanti|
Qualis terrenus, tales et terreni: et qualis caelestis, tales et caelestes.
49 mr̥ṇmayasya rūpaṁ yadvad asmābhi rdhāritaṁ tadvat svargīyasya rūpamapi dhārayiṣyatē|
Igitur, sicut portavimus imaginem terreni, portemus et imaginem caelestis.
50 hē bhrātaraḥ, yuṣmān prati vyāharāmi, īśvarasya rājyē raktamāṁsayōradhikārō bhavituṁ na śaknōti, akṣayatvē ca kṣayasyādhikārō na bhaviṣyati|
Hoc autem dico, fratres: quia caro et sanguis regnum Dei possidere non possunt: neque corruptio incorruptelam possidebit.
51 paśyatāhaṁ yuṣmabhyaṁ nigūḍhāṁ kathāṁ nivēdayāmi|
Ecce mysterium vobis dico: Omnes quidem resurgemus, sed non omnes immutabimur.
52 sarvvairasmābhi rmahānidrā na gamiṣyatē kintvantimadinē tūryyāṁ vāditāyām ēkasmin vipalē nimiṣaikamadhyē sarvvai rūpāntaraṁ gamiṣyatē, yatastūrī vādiṣyatē, mr̥talōkāścākṣayībhūtā utthāsyanti vayañca rūpāntaraṁ gamiṣyāmaḥ|
In momento, in ictu oculi, in novissima tuba: canet enim tuba, et mortui resurgent incorrupti: et nos immutabimur.
53 yataḥ kṣayaṇīyēnaitēna śarīrēṇākṣayatvaṁ parihitavyaṁ, maraṇādhīnēnaitēna dēhēna cāmaratvaṁ parihitavyaṁ|
Oportet enim corruptibile hoc induere incorruptionem: et mortale hoc induere immortalitatem.
54 ētasmin kṣayaṇīyē śarīrē 'kṣayatvaṁ gatē, ētasman maraṇādhīnē dēhē cāmaratvaṁ gatē śāstrē likhitaṁ vacanamidaṁ sētsyati, yathā, jayēna grasyatē mr̥tyuḥ|
Cum autem mortale hoc induerit immortalitatem, tunc fiet sermo, qui scriptus est: Absorpta est mors in victoria.

Ubi est mors victoria tua? ubi est mors stimulus tuus? (Hadēs g86)
56 mr̥tyōḥ kaṇṭakaṁ pāpamēva pāpasya ca balaṁ vyavasthā|
Stimulus autem mortis peccatum est: virtus vero peccati lex.
57 īśvaraśca dhanyō bhavatu yataḥ sō'smākaṁ prabhunā yīśukhrīṣṭēnāsmān jayayuktān vidhāpayati|
Deo autem gratias, qui dedit nobis victoriam per Dominum nostrum Iesum Christum.
58 atō hē mama priyabhrātaraḥ; yūyaṁ susthirā niścalāśca bhavata prabhōḥ sēvāyāṁ yuṣmākaṁ pariśramō niṣphalō na bhaviṣyatīti jñātvā prabhōḥ kāryyē sadā tatparā bhavata|
Itaque fratres mei dilecti, stabiles estote, et immobiles: abundantes in opere Domini semper, scientes quod labor vester non est inanis in Domino.
