1 pīlāto yīśum ānīya kaśayā prāhārayat|
Then Pylate toke Iesus and scourged him.
2 paścāt senāgaṇaḥ kaṇṭakanirmmitaṁ mukuṭaṁ tasya mastake samarpya vārttākīvarṇaṁ rājaparicchadaṁ paridhāpya,
And ye soudiers wounde a croune of thornes and put it on his heed. And they dyd on him a purple garment
3 he yihūdīyānāṁ rājan namaskāra ityuktvā taṁ capeṭenāhantum ārabhata|
and sayd: hayll kynge of the Iewes: and they smote him on the face.
4 tadā pīlātaḥ punarapi bahirgatvā lokān avadat, asya kamapyaparādhaṁ na labhe'haṁ, paśyata tad yuṣmān jñāpayituṁ yuṣmākaṁ sannidhau bahirenam ānayāmi|
Pylate went forthe agayne and sayde vnto them: beholde I bringe him forth to you that ye maye knowe that I fynde no faute in him.
5 tataḥ paraṁ yīśuḥ kaṇṭakamukuṭavān vārttākīvarṇavasanavāṁśca bahirāgacchat| tataḥ pīlāta uktavān enaṁ manuṣyaṁ paśyata|
Then came Iesus forthe wearynge a croune of thorne and a robe of purple. And Pylate sayd vnto them: beholde ye man.
6 tadā pradhānayājakāḥ padātayaśca taṁ dṛṣṭvā, enaṁ kruśe vidha, enaṁ kruśe vidha, ityuktvā ravituṁ ārabhanta| tataḥ pīlātaḥ kathitavān yūyaṁ svayam enaṁ nītvā kruśe vidhata, aham etasya kamapyaparādhaṁ na prāptavān|
When the hye Prestes and ministres sawe him they cryed sayinge: crucify him crucify him. Pylate sayde vnto them. Take ye him and crucify him: for I fynde no cause in him.
7 yihūdīyāḥ pratyavadan asmākaṁ yā vyavasthāste tadanusāreṇāsya prāṇahananam ucitaṁ yatoyaṁ svam īśvarasya putramavadat|
The Iewes answered him. We have a lawe and by oure lawe he ought to dye: because he made him selfe the sonne of God.
8 pīlāta imāṁ kathāṁ śrutvā mahātrāsayuktaḥ
When Pylate hearde that sayinge he was the moare afrayde
9 san punarapi rājagṛha āgatya yīśuṁ pṛṣṭavān tvaṁ kutratyo lokaḥ? kintu yīśastasya kimapi pratyuttaraṁ nāvadat|

10 tataḥ pīlāt kathitavāna tvaṁ kiṁ mayā sārddhaṁ na saṁlapiṣyasi? tvāṁ kruśe vedhituṁ vā mocayituṁ śakti rmamāste iti kiṁ tvaṁ na jānāsi? tadā yīśuḥ pratyavadad īśvareṇādaṁ mamopari tava kimapyadhipatitvaṁ na vidyate, tathāpi yo jano māṁ tava haste samārpayat tasya mahāpātakaṁ jātam|
Then sayde Pylate vnto him. Speakest thou not vnto me? knowest thou not that I have power to crucify the and have power to lowse the?
11 tadā yīśuḥ pratyavadad īśvareṇādattaṁ mamopari tava kimapyadhipatitvaṁ na vidyate, tathāpi yo jano māṁ tava haste samārpayat tasya mahāpātakaṁ jātam|
Iesus answered: Thou couldest have no power at all agaynst me except it were geven the from above. Therfore he yt delyvered me vnto the is moare in synne.
12 tadārabhya pīlātastaṁ mocayituṁ ceṣṭitavān kintu yihūdīyā ruvanto vyāharan yadīmaṁ mānavaṁ tyajasi tarhi tvaṁ kaisarasya mitraṁ na bhavasi, yo janaḥ svaṁ rājānaṁ vakti saeva kaimarasya viruddhāṁ kathāṁ kathayati|
And from thence forthe sought Pylate meanes to lowse him: but the Iewes cryed sayinge: yf thou let him goo thou arte not Cesars frende. For whosoever maketh hi selfe a kynge is agaynst Cesar
13 etāṁ kathāṁ śrutvā pīlāto yīśuṁ bahirānīya nistārotsavasya āsādanadinasya dvitīyapraharāt pūrvvaṁ prastarabandhananāmni sthāne 'rthāt ibrīyabhāṣayā yad gabbithā kathyate tasmin sthāne vicārāsana upāviśat|
When Pylate hearde yt sayinge he brought Iesus forthe and sate doune to geve sentece in a place called the pavement: but in the Hebrue tonge Gabbatha.
14 anantaraṁ pīlāto yihūdīyān avadat, yuṣmākaṁ rājānaṁ paśyata|
It was the Saboth even which falleth in the ester fest and aboute the sixte houre. And he sayde vnto the Iewes: beholde youre kynge.
15 kintu enaṁ dūrīkuru, enaṁ dūrīkuru, enaṁ kruśe vidha, iti kathāṁ kathayitvā te ravitum ārabhanta; tadā pīlātaḥ kathitavān yuṣmākaṁ rājānaṁ kiṁ kruśe vedhiṣyāmi? pradhānayājakā uttaram avadan kaisaraṁ vinā kopi rājāsmākaṁ nāsti|
They cryed awaye with him awaye with him crucify him. Pylate sayde vnto them. Shall I crucify youre kynge? The hye Prestes answered: we have no kynge but Cesar.
16 tataḥ pīlāto yīśuṁ kruśe vedhituṁ teṣāṁ hasteṣu samārpayat, tataste taṁ dhṛtvā nītavantaḥ|
Then delyvered he him vnto them to be crucified. And they toke Iesus and led him awaye.
17 tataḥ paraṁ yīśuḥ kruśaṁ vahan śiraḥkapālam arthād yad ibrīyabhāṣayā gulgaltāṁ vadanti tasmin sthāna upasthitaḥ|
And he bare his crosse and went forthe into a place called the place of deed mens sculles which is named in Hebrue Golgatha.
18 tataste madhyasthāne taṁ tasyobhayapārśve dvāvaparau kruśe'vidhan|
Where they crucified him and two other with him on ether syde one and Iesus in the myddes.
19 aparam eṣa yihūdīyānāṁ rājā nāsaratīyayīśuḥ, iti vijñāpanaṁ likhitvā pīlātastasya kruśopari samayojayat|
And Pylate wrote his tytle and put it on the crosse. The writynge was Iesus of Nazareth kynge of the Iewes.
20 sā lipiḥ ibrīyayūnānīyaromīyabhāṣābhi rlikhitā; yīśoḥ kruśavedhanasthānaṁ nagarasya samīpaṁ, tasmād bahavo yihūdīyāstāṁ paṭhitum ārabhanta|
This tytle reed many of the Iewes. For the place where Iesus was crucified was nye to the cite. And it was written in Hebrue Greke and Latyn.
21 yihūdīyānāṁ pradhānayājakāḥ pīlātamiti nyavedayan yihūdīyānāṁ rājeti vākyaṁ na kintu eṣa svaṁ yihūdīyānāṁ rājānam avadad itthaṁ likhatu|
Then sayde the hye prestes of ye Iewes to Pylate: wryte not kynge of the Iewes: but that he sayde I am kynge of the Iewes.
22 tataḥ pīlāta uttaraṁ dattavān yallekhanīyaṁ tallikhitavān|
Pylate answered: what I have written that have I written.
23 itthaṁ senāgaṇo yīśuṁ kruśe vidhitvā tasya paridheyavastraṁ caturo bhāgān kṛtvā ekaikasenā ekaikabhāgam agṛhlat tasyottarīyavastrañcāgṛhlat| kintūttarīyavastraṁ sūcisevanaṁ vinā sarvvam ūtaṁ|
Then the soudiers when they had crucified Iesus toke his garmentes and made foure partes to every soudier a parte and also his coote. The coote was with out seme wrought vpon thorowe out.
24 tasmātte vyāharan etat kaḥ prāpsyati? tanna khaṇḍayitvā tatra guṭikāpātaṁ karavāma| vibhajante'dharīyaṁ me vasanaṁ te parasparaṁ| mamottarīyavastrārthaṁ guṭikāṁ pātayanti ca| iti yadvākyaṁ dharmmapustake likhitamāste tat senāgaṇenetthaṁ vyavaharaṇāt siddhamabhavat|
And they sayde one to another. Let vs not devyde it: but cast loostes who shall have it That the scripture myght be fulfilled which sayth. They parted my rayment amonge them and on my coote dyd cast lottes. And the soudiers dyd soche thinges in dede.
25 tadānīṁ yīśo rmātā mātu rbhaginī ca yā kliyapā bhāryyā mariyam magdalīnī mariyam ca etāstasya kruśasya sannidhau samatiṣṭhan|
Ther stode by the crosse of Iesus his mother and his mothers sister Mary the wyfe of Cleophas and Mary Magdalene.
26 tato yīśuḥ svamātaraṁ priyatamaśiṣyañca samīpe daṇḍāyamānau vilokya mātaram avadat, he yoṣid enaṁ tava putraṁ paśya,
When Iesus sawe his mother and the disciple stondynge whom he loved he sayde vnto his mother: woman beholde thy sonne.
27 śiṣyantvavadat, enāṁ tava mātaraṁ paśya| tataḥ sa śiṣyastadghaṭikāyāṁ tāṁ nijagṛhaṁ nītavān|
Then sayde he to ye disciple: beholde thy mother. And fro that houre the disciple toke her for his awne.
28 anantaraṁ sarvvaṁ karmmādhunā sampannamabhūt yīśuriti jñātvā dharmmapustakasya vacanaṁ yathā siddhaṁ bhavati tadartham akathayat mama pipāsā jātā|
After that when Iesus perceaved that all thinges were performed: that the scripture myght be fulfilled he sayde: I thyrst.
29 tatastasmin sthāne amlarasena pūrṇapātrasthityā te spañjamekaṁ tadamlarasenārdrīkṛtya esobnale tad yojayitvā tasya mukhasya sannidhāvasthāpayan|
Ther stode a vessell full of veneger by. And they filled a sponge with veneger and wounde it about with ysope and put it to his mouth.
30 tadā yīśuramlarasaṁ gṛhītvā sarvvaṁ siddham iti kathāṁ kathayitvā mastakaṁ namayan prāṇān paryyatyajat|
Assone as Iesus had receaved of the veneger he sayd: It is fynesshed and bowed his heed and gaue vp the goost.
31 tadvinam āsādanadinaṁ tasmāt pare'hani viśrāmavāre dehā yathā kruśopari na tiṣṭhanti, yataḥ sa viśrāmavāro mahādinamāsīt, tasmād yihūdīyāḥ pīlātanikaṭaṁ gatvā teṣāṁ pādabhañjanasya sthānāntaranayanasya cānumatiṁ prārthayanta|
The Iewes then because it was the saboth eve that ye bodyes shuld not remayne apon ye crosse on ye saboth daye (for that saboth daye was an hye daye) besought Pylate that their legges myght be broken and that they myght be taken doune.
32 ataḥ senā āgatya yīśunā saha kruśe hatayoḥ prathamadvitīyacorayoḥ pādān abhañjan;
Then came the soudiers and brake the legges of the fyrst and of the other which was crucified with Iesus.
33 kintu yīśoḥ sannidhiṁ gatvā sa mṛta iti dṛṣṭvā tasya pādau nābhañjan|
But when they came to Iesus and sawe that he was deed already they brake not his legges:
34 paścād eko yoddhā śūlāghātena tasya kukṣim avidhat tatkṣaṇāt tasmād raktaṁ jalañca niragacchat|
but one of the soudiers with a speare thrust him into the syde and forthwith came ther out bloud and water.
35 yo jano'sya sākṣyaṁ dadāti sa svayaṁ dṛṣṭavān tasyedaṁ sākṣyaṁ satyaṁ tasya kathā yuṣmākaṁ viśvāsaṁ janayituṁ yogyā tat sa jānāti|
And he that sawe it bare recorde and his recorde is true. And he knoweth that he sayth true that ye myght beleve also.
36 tasyaikam asdhyapi na bhaṁkṣyate,
These thinges were done that the scripture shuld be fulfilled: Ye shall not breake a boone of him.
37 tadvad anyaśāstrepi likhyate, yathā, "dṛṣṭipātaṁ kariṣyanti te'vidhan yantu tamprati|"
And agayne another scripture sayth: They shall looke on him whom they pearsed.
38 arimathīyanagarasya yūṣaphnāmā śiṣya eka āsīt kintu yihūdīyebhyo bhayāt prakāśito na bhavati; sa yīśo rdehaṁ netuṁ pīlātasyānumatiṁ prārthayata, tataḥ pīlātenānumate sati sa gatvā yīśo rdeham anayat|
After that Ioseph of Aramathia (which was a disciple of Iesus: but secretly for feare of ye Iewes) besought Pylate that he myght take doune the body of Iesus. And Pylate gave him licence.
39 aparaṁ yo nikadīmo rātrau yīśoḥ samīpam agacchat sopi gandharasena miśritaṁ prāyeṇa pañcāśatseṭakamaguruṁ gṛhītvāgacchat|
And ther cam also Nicodemus which at the beginnynge came to Iesus by nyght and brought of myrre and aloes mingled to gether aboute an hundred pounde wayght
40 tataste yihūdīyānāṁ śmaśāne sthāpanarītyanusāreṇa tatsugandhidravyeṇa sahitaṁ tasya dehaṁ vastreṇāveṣṭayan|
Then toke they the body of Iesu and wounde it in lynnen clothes with the odoures as ye maner of the Iewes is to bury.
41 aparañca yatra sthāne taṁ kruśe'vidhan tasya nikaṭasthodyāne yatra kimapi mṛtadehaṁ kadāpi nāsthāpyata tādṛśam ekaṁ nūtanaṁ śmaśānam āsīt|
And in the place where Iesus was crucified was a garden and in ye garden a newe sepulchre wherin was never man layd.
42 yihūdīyānām āsādanadināgamanāt te tasmin samīpasthaśmaśāne yīśum aśāyayan|
There layde they Iesus because of the Iewes saboth even for the sepulcre was nye at honde.
