1 īśvarasyecchayā yīśukhrīṣṭasya preritaḥ paula iphiṣanagarasthān pavitrān khrīṣṭayīśau viśvāsino lokān prati patraṁ likhati|
Paul, the apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus.
2 asmākaṁ tātasyeśvarasya prabho ryīśukhrīṣṭasya cānugrahaḥ śāntiśca yuṣmāsu varttatāṁ|
Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 asmākaṁ prabho ryīśoḥ khrīṣṭasya tāta īśvaro dhanyo bhavatu; yataḥ sa khrīṣṭenāsmabhyaṁ sarvvam ādhyātmikaṁ svargīyavaraṁ dattavān|
Blessed is the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the one having blessed us with all spiritual blessing in the heavenlies in Christ:
4 vayaṁ yat tasya samakṣaṁ premnā pavitrā niṣkalaṅkāśca bhavāmastadarthaṁ sa jagataḥ sṛṣṭe pūrvvaṁ tenāsmān abhirocitavān, nijābhilaṣitānurodhācca
as he elected us in himself before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless in his presence.
5 yīśunā khrīṣṭena svasya nimittaṁ putratvapade'smān svakīyānugrahasya mahattvasya praśaṁsārthaṁ pūrvvaṁ niyuktavān|
in love having predestinated us unto the adoption of sons unto himself through Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,
6 tasmād anugrahāt sa yena priyatamena putreṇāsmān anugṛhītavān,
unto the praise of the glory of his grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved:
7 vayaṁ tasya śoṇitena muktim arthataḥ pāpakṣamāṁ labdhavantaḥ|
in whom we have redemption through his blood, the remission of transgressions, according to the riches of his grace,
8 tasya ya īdṛśo'nugrahanidhistasmāt so'smabhyaṁ sarvvavidhaṁ jñānaṁ buddhiñca bāhulyarūpeṇa vitaritavān|
which he has abounded unto us in all wisdom and understanding,
9 svargapṛthivyo ryadyad vidyate tatsarvvaṁ sa khrīṣṭe saṁgrahīṣyatīti hitaiṣiṇā
having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his own good pleasure, which he purposed in himself
10 tena kṛto yo manorathaḥ sampūrṇatāṁ gatavatsu samayeṣu sādhayitavyastamadhi sa svakīyābhilāṣasya nigūḍhaṁ bhāvam asmān jñāpitavān|
in the economy of the fulness of the times, to rehead all things in Christ, those in the heavens, and those upon the earth; in him,
11 pūrvvaṁ khrīṣṭe viśvāsino ye vayam asmatto yat tasya mahimnaḥ praśaṁsā jāyate,
in whom we were also chosen by lot, having been predestinated according to the purpose of him who works all things within us according to the counsel of his own will;
12 tadarthaṁ yaḥ svakīyecchāyāḥ mantraṇātaḥ sarvvāṇi sādhayati tasya manorathād vayaṁ khrīṣṭena pūrvvaṁ nirūpitāḥ santo'dhikāriṇo jātāḥ|
that we should be unto the praise of his glory, who first exercised hope in Christ:
13 yūyamapi satyaṁ vākyam arthato yuṣmatparitrāṇasya susaṁvādaṁ niśamya tasminneva khrīṣṭe viśvasitavantaḥ pratijñātena pavitreṇātmanā mudrayevāṅkitāśca|
in whom you also, having heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation, in whom, also having believed, you were sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise,
14 yatastasya mahimnaḥ prakāśāya tena krītānāṁ lokānāṁ mukti ryāvanna bhaviṣyati tāvat sa ātmāsmākam adhikāritvasya satyaṅkārasya paṇasvarūpo bhavati|
who is the earnest of our salvation, unto the redemption of the possession, unto the praise of his glory.
15 prabhau yīśau yuṣmākaṁ viśvāsaḥ sarvveṣu pavitralokeṣu prema cāsta iti vārttāṁ śrutvāhamapi
Therefore I also, having heard of the faith among you in the Lord Jesus, and your love which is toward all the saints,
16 yuṣmānadhi nirantaram īśvaraṁ dhanyaṁ vadan prārthanāsamaye ca yuṣmān smaran varamimaṁ yācāmi|
I do not cease giving thanks for you making mention of you in my prayers;
17 asmākaṁ prabho ryīśukhrīṣṭasya tāto yaḥ prabhāvākara īśvaraḥ sa svakīyatattvajñānāya yuṣmabhyaṁ jñānajanakam prakāśitavākyabodhakañcātmānaṁ deyāt|
in order that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of the glory, may grant unto you the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the perfect knowledge of himself;
18 yuṣmākaṁ jñānacakṣūṁṣi ca dīptiyuktāni kṛtvā tasyāhvānaṁ kīdṛśyā pratyāśayā sambalitaṁ pavitralokānāṁ madhye tena datto'dhikāraḥ kīdṛśaḥ prabhāvanidhi rviśvāsiṣu cāsmāsu prakāśamānasya
the eyes of your heart having been enlightened, that you may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance among the saints,
19 tadīyamahāparākramasya mahatvaṁ kīdṛg anupamaṁ tat sarvvaṁ yuṣmān jñāpayatu|
and what the excellent majesty of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of the power of his might
20 yataḥ sa yasyāḥ śakteḥ prabalatāṁ khrīṣṭe prakāśayan mṛtagaṇamadhyāt tam utthāpitavān,
which he has wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead, and seating him on his right hand in the heavenlies,
21 adhipatitvapadaṁ śāsanapadaṁ parākramo rājatvañcetināmāni yāvanti padānīha loke paraloke ca vidyante teṣāṁ sarvveṣām ūrddhve svarge nijadakṣiṇapārśve tam upaveśitavān, (aiōn g165)
above all government, and authority, and power, and lordship, and every name named, not only in this age, but in the age to come: (aiōn g165)
22 sarvvāṇi tasya caraṇayoradho nihitavān yā samitistasya śarīraṁ sarvvatra sarvveṣāṁ pūrayituḥ pūrakañca bhavati taṁ tasyā mūrddhānaṁ kṛtvā
and has subordinated all things beneath his feet, and given him to be head over all things to the church,
23 sarvveṣām uparyyupari niyuktavāṁśca saiva śaktirasmāsvapi tena prakāśyate|
which is his body, the fulness of him who fills all things in all.
