રોમિણઃ 11
1 ઈશ્વરેણ સ્વીકીયલોકા અપસારિતા અહં કિમ્ ઈદૃશં વાક્યં બ્રવીમિ? તન્ન ભવતુ યતોઽહમપિ બિન્યામીનગોત્રીય ઇબ્રાહીમવંશીય ઇસ્રાયેલીયલોકોઽસ્મિ|
Therefore, I say: Has God driven away his people? Let it not be so! For I, too, am an Israelite of the offspring of Abraham, from the tribe of Benjamin.
2 ઈશ્વરેણ પૂર્વ્વં યે પ્રદૃષ્ટાસ્તે સ્વકીયલોકા અપસારિતા ઇતિ નહિ| અપરમ્ એલિયોપાખ્યાને શાસ્ત્રે યલ્લિખિતમ્ આસ્તે તદ્ યૂયં કિં ન જાનીથ?
God has not driven away his people, whom he foreknew. And do you not know what Scripture says in Elijah, how he calls upon God against Israel?
3 હે પરમેશ્વર લોકાસ્ત્વદીયાઃ સર્વ્વા યજ્ઞવેદીરભઞ્જન્ તથા તવ ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનઃ સર્વ્વાન્ અઘ્નન્ કેવલ એકોઽહમ્ અવશિષ્ટ આસે તે મમાપિ પ્રાણાન્ નાશયિતું ચેષ્ટનતે, એતાં કથામ્ ઇસ્રાયેલીયલોકાનાં વિરુદ્ધમ્ એલિય ઈશ્વરાય નિવેદયામાસ|
“Lord, they have slain your Prophets. They have overturned your altars. And I alone remain, and they are seeking my life.”
4 તતસ્તં પ્રતીશ્વરસ્યોત્તરં કિં જાતં? બાલ્નામ્નો દેવસ્ય સાક્ષાત્ યૈ ર્જાનૂનિ ન પાતિતાનિ તાદૃશાઃ સપ્ત સહસ્રાણિ લોકા અવશેષિતા મયા|
But what is the Divine response to him? “I have retained for myself seven thousand men, who have not bent their knees before Baal.”
5 તદ્વદ્ એતસ્મિન્ વર્ત્તમાનકાલેઽપિ અનુગ્રહેણાભિરુચિતાસ્તેષામ્ અવશિષ્ટાઃ કતિપયા લોકાઃ સન્તિ|
Therefore, in the same way, again in this time, there is a remnant that has been saved in accord with the choice of grace.
6 અતએવ તદ્ યદ્યનુગ્રહેણ ભવતિ તર્હિ ક્રિયયા ન ભવતિ નો ચેદ્ અનુગ્રહોઽનનુગ્રહ એવ, યદિ વા ક્રિયયા ભવતિ તર્હ્યનુગ્રહેણ ન ભવતિ નો ચેત્ ક્રિયા ક્રિયૈવ ન ભવતિ|
And if it is by grace, then it is not now by works; otherwise grace is no longer free.
7 તર્હિ કિં? ઇસ્રાયેલીયલોકા યદ્ અમૃગયન્ત તન્ન પ્રાપુઃ| કિન્ત્વભિરુચિતલોકાસ્તત્ પ્રાપુસ્તદન્યે સર્વ્વ અન્ધીભૂતાઃ|
What is next? What Israel was seeking, he has not obtained. But the elect have obtained it. And truly, these others have been blinded,
8 યથા લિખિતમ્ આસ્તે, ઘોરનિદ્રાલુતાભાવં દૃષ્ટિહીને ચ લોચને| કર્ણૌ શ્રુતિવિહીનૌ ચ પ્રદદૌ તેભ્ય ઈશ્વરઃ||
just as it was written: “God has given them a spirit of reluctance: eyes that do not perceive, and ears that do not hear, even until this very day.”
9 એતેસ્મિન્ દાયૂદપિ લિખિતવાન્ યથા, અતો ભુક્ત્યાસનં તેષામ્ ઉન્માથવદ્ ભવિષ્યતિ| વા વંશયન્ત્રવદ્ બાધા દણ્ડવદ્ વા ભવિષ્યતિ||
And David says: “Let their table become like a snare, and a deception, and a scandal, and a retribution for them.
10 ભવિષ્યન્તિ તથાન્ધાસ્તે નેત્રૈઃ પશ્યન્તિ નો યથા| વેપથુઃ કટિદેશસ્ય તેષાં નિત્યં ભવિષ્યતિ||
Let their eyes be obscured, so that they may not see, and so that they may bow down their backs always.”
11 પતનાર્થં તે સ્ખલિતવન્ત ઇતિ વાચં કિમહં વદામિ? તન્ન ભવતુ કિન્તુ તાન્ ઉદ્યોગિનઃ કર્ત્તું તેષાં પતનાદ્ ઇતરદેશીયલોકૈઃ પરિત્રાણં પ્રાપ્તં|
Therefore, I say: Have they stumbled in such a way that they should fall? Let it not be so! Instead, by their offense, salvation is with the Gentiles, so that they may be a rival to them.
12 તેષાં પતનં યદિ જગતો લોકાનાં લાભજનકમ્ અભવત્ તેષાં હ્રાસોઽપિ યદિ ભિન્નદેશિનાં લાભજનકોઽભવત્ તર્હિ તેષાં વૃદ્ધિઃ કતિ લાભજનિકા ભવિષ્યતિ?
Now if their offense is the riches of the world, and if their diminution is the riches of the Gentiles, how much more is their fullness?
13 અતો હે અન્યદેશિનો યુષ્માન્ સમ્બોધ્ય કથયામિ નિજાનાં જ્ઞાતિબન્ધૂનાં મનઃસૂદ્યોગં જનયન્ તેષાં મધ્યે કિયતાં લોકાનાં યથા પરિત્રાણં સાધયામિ
For I say to you Gentiles: Certainly, as long as I am an Apostle to the Gentiles, I will honor my ministry,
14 તન્નિમિત્તમ્ અન્યદેશિનાં નિકટે પ્રેરિતઃ સન્ અહં સ્વપદસ્ય મહિમાનં પ્રકાશયામિ|
in such a way that I might provoke to rivalry those who are my own flesh, and so that I may save some of them.
15 તેષાં નિગ્રહેણ યદીશ્વરેણ સહ જગતો જનાનાં મેલનં જાતં તર્હિ તેષામ્ અનુગૃહીતત્વં મૃતદેહે યથા જીવનલાભસ્તદ્વત્ કિં ન ભવિષ્યતિ?
For if their loss is for the reconciliation of the world, what could their return be for, except life out of death?
16 અપરં પ્રથમજાતં ફલં યદિ પવિત્રં ભવતિ તર્હિ સર્વ્વમેવ ફલં પવિત્રં ભવિષ્યતિ; તથા મૂલં યદિ પવિત્રં ભવતિ તર્હિ શાખા અપિ તથૈવ ભવિષ્યન્તિ|
For if the first-fruit has been sanctified, so also has the whole. And if the root is holy, so also are the branches.
17 કિયતીનાં શાખાનાં છેદને કૃતે ત્વં વન્યજિતવૃક્ષસ્ય શાખા ભૂત્વા યદિ તચ્છાખાનાં સ્થાને રોપિતા સતિ જિતવૃક્ષીયમૂલસ્ય રસં ભુંક્ષે,
And if some of the branches are broken, and if you, being a wild olive branch, are grafted on to them, and you become a partaker of the root and of the fatness of the olive tree,
18 તર્હિ તાસાં ભિન્નશાખાનાં વિરુદ્ધં માં ગર્વ્વીઃ; યદિ ગર્વ્વસિ તર્હિ ત્વં મૂલં યન્ન ધારયસિ કિન્તુ મૂલં ત્વાં ધારયતીતિ સંસ્મર|
do not glorify yourself above the branches. For though you glory, you do not support the root, but the root supports you.
19 અપરઞ્ચ યદિ વદસિ માં રોપયિતું તાઃ શાખા વિભન્ના અભવન્;
Therefore, you would say: The branches were broken off, so that I might be grafted on.
20 ભદ્રમ્, અપ્રત્યયકારણાત્ તે વિભિન્ના જાતાસ્તથા વિશ્વાસકારણાત્ ત્વં રોપિતો જાતસ્તસ્માદ્ અહઙ્કારમ્ અકૃત્વા સસાધ્વસો ભવ|
Well enough. They were broken off because of unbelief. But you stand on faith. So do not choose to savor what is exalted, but instead be afraid.
21 યત ઈશ્વરો યદિ સ્વાભાવિકીઃ શાખા ન રક્ષતિ તર્હિ સાવધાનો ભવ ચેત્ ત્વામપિ ન સ્થાપયતિ|
For if God has not spared the natural branches, perhaps also he might not spare you.
22 ઇત્યત્રેશ્વરસ્ય યાદૃશી કૃપા તાદૃશં ભયાનકત્વમપિ ત્વયા દૃશ્યતાં; યે પતિતાસ્તાન્ પ્રતિ તસ્ય ભયાનકત્વં દૃશ્યતાં, ત્વઞ્ચ યદિ તત્કૃપાશ્રિતસ્તિષ્ઠસિ તર્હિ ત્વાં પ્રતિ કૃપા દ્રક્ષ્યતે; નો ચેત્ ત્વમપિ તદ્વત્ છિન્નો ભવિષ્યસિ|
So then, notice the goodness and the severity of God. Certainly, toward those who have fallen, there is severity; but toward you, there is the goodness of God, if you remain in goodness. Otherwise, you also will be cut off.
23 અપરઞ્ચ તે યદ્યપ્રત્યયે ન તિષ્ઠન્તિ તર્હિ પુનરપિ રોપયિષ્યન્તે યસ્માત્ તાન્ પુનરપિ રોપયિતુમ્ ઇશ્વરસ્ય શક્તિરાસ્તે|
Moreover, if they do not remain in unbelief, they will be grafted on. For God is able to graft them on again.
24 વન્યજિતવૃક્ષસ્ય શાખા સન્ ત્વં યદિ તતશ્છિન્નો રીતિવ્યત્યયેનોત્તમજિતવૃક્ષે રોપિતોઽભવસ્તર્હિ તસ્ય વૃક્ષસ્ય સ્વીયા યાઃ શાખાસ્તાઃ કિં પુનઃ સ્વવૃક્ષે સંલગિતું ન શક્નુવન્તિ?
So if you have been cut off from the wild olive tree, which is natural to you, and, contrary to nature, you are grafted on to the good olive tree, how much more shall those who are the natural branches be grafted on to their own olive tree?
25 હે ભ્રાતરો યુષ્માકમ્ આત્માભિમાનો યન્ન જાયતે તદર્થં મમેદૃશી વાઞ્છા ભવતિ યૂયં એતન્નિગૂઢતત્ત્વમ્ અજાનન્તો યન્ન તિષ્ઠથ; વસ્તુતો યાવત્કાલં સમ્પૂર્ણરૂપેણ ભિન્નદેશિનાં સંગ્રહો ન ભવિષ્યતિ તાવત્કાલમ્ અંશત્વેન ઇસ્રાયેલીયલોકાનામ્ અન્ધતા સ્થાસ્યતિ;
For I do not want you to be ignorant, brothers, of this mystery (lest you seem wise only to yourselves) that a certain blindness has occurred in Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles has arrived.
26 પશ્ચાત્ તે સર્વ્વે પરિત્રાસ્યન્તે; એતાદૃશં લિખિતમપ્યાસ્તે, આગમિષ્યતિ સીયોનાદ્ એકો યસ્ત્રાણદાયકઃ| અધર્મ્મં યાકુબો વંશાત્ સ તુ દૂરીકરિષ્યતિ|
And in this way, all of Israel may be saved, just as it was written: “From Zion shall arrive he who delivers, and he shall turn impiety away from Jacob.
27 તથા દૂરીકરિષ્યામિ તેષાં પાપાન્યહં યદા| તદા તૈરેવ સાર્દ્ધં મે નિયમોઽયં ભવિષ્યતિ|
And this will be my covenant for them, when I will take away their sins.”
28 સુસંવાદાત્ તે યુષ્માકં વિપક્ષા અભવન્ કિન્ત્વભિરુચિતત્વાત્ તે પિતૃલોકાનાં કૃતે પ્રિયપાત્રાણિ ભવન્તિ|
Certainly, according to the Gospel, they are enemies for your sake. But according to the election, they are most beloved for the sake of the fathers.
29 યત ઈશ્વરસ્ય દાનાદ્ આહ્વાનાઞ્ચ પશ્ચાત્તાપો ન ભવતિ|
For the gifts and the call of God are without regret.
30 અતએવ પૂર્વ્વમ્ ઈશ્વરેઽવિશ્વાસિનઃ સન્તોઽપિ યૂયં યદ્વત્ સમ્પ્રતિ તેષામ્ અવિશ્વાસકારણાદ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય કૃપાપાત્રાણિ જાતાસ્તદ્વદ્
And just as you also, in times past, did not believe in God, but now you have obtained mercy because of their unbelief,
31 ઇદાનીં તેઽવિશ્વાસિનઃ સન્તિ કિન્તુ યુષ્માભિ ર્લબ્ધકૃપાકારણાત્ તૈરપિ કૃપા લપ્સ્યતે|
so also have these now not believed, for your mercy, so that they might obtain mercy also.
For God has enclosed everyone in unbelief, so that he may have mercy on everyone. (eleēsē g1653)
33 અહો ઈશ્વરસ્ય જ્ઞાનબુદ્ધિરૂપયો ર્ધનયોઃ કીદૃક્ પ્રાચુર્ય્યં| તસ્ય રાજશાસનસ્ય તત્ત્વં કીદૃગ્ અપ્રાપ્યં| તસ્ય માર્ગાશ્ચ કીદૃગ્ અનુપલક્ષ્યાઃ|
Oh, the depths of the richness of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How incomprehensible are his judgments, and how unsearchable are his ways!
34 પરમેશ્વરસ્ય સઙ્કલ્પં કો જ્ઞાતવાન્? તસ્ય મન્ત્રી વા કોઽભવત્?
For who has known the mind of the Lord? Or who has been his counselor?
35 કો વા તસ્યોપકારી ભૃત્વા તત્કૃતે તેન પ્રત્યુપકર્ત્તવ્યઃ?
Or who first gave to him, so that repayment would be owed?
