મથિઃ 24

1 અનન્તરં યીશુ ર્યદા મન્દિરાદ્ બહિ ર્ગચ્છતિ, તદાનીં શિષ્યાસ્તં મન્દિરનિર્મ્માણં દર્શયિતુમાગતાઃ|

And Jesus passed out of the temple to go away: and his disciples came to him, showing him the structure of the temple.

2 તતો યીશુસ્તાનુવાચ, યૂયં કિમેતાનિ ન પશ્યથ? યુષ્માનહં સત્યં વદામિ, એતન્નિચયનસ્ય પાષાણૈકમપ્યન્યપાષાણેપરિ ન સ્થાસ્યતિ સર્વ્વાણિ ભૂમિસાત્ કારિષ્યન્તે|

And he said to them: See ye not all these? Verily I say to you, There will not be left here a stone upon a stone, that is not demolished.

3 અનન્તરં તસ્મિન્ જૈતુનપર્વ્વતોપરિ સમુપવિષ્ટે શિષ્યાસ્તસ્ય સમીપમાગત્ય ગુપ્તં પપ્રચ્છુઃ, એતા ઘટનાઃ કદા ભવિષ્યન્તિ? ભવત આગમનસ્ય યુગાન્તસ્ય ચ કિં લક્ષ્મ? તદસ્માન્ વદતુ| (aiōn g165)

And as Jesus sat on the mount of Olives, his disciples came, and said between themselves and him: Tell us when these things are to be; and what will be the sign of thy coming, and of the consummation of the world. (aiōn g165)

4 તદાનીં યીશુસ્તાનવોચત્, અવધદ્વ્વં, કોપિ યુષ્માન્ ન ભ્રમયેત્|

Jesus answered and said to them: Take heed, that no one deceive you.

5 બહવો મમ નામ ગૃહ્લન્ત આગમિષ્યન્તિ, ખ્રીષ્ટોઽહમેવેતિ વાચં વદન્તો બહૂન્ ભ્રમયિષ્યન્તિ|

For many will come in my name, and will say, I am the Messiah: and they will deceive many.

6 યૂયઞ્ચ સંગ્રામસ્ય રણસ્ય ચાડમ્બરં શ્રોષ્યથ, અવધદ્વ્વં તેન ચઞ્ચલા મા ભવત, એતાન્યવશ્યં ઘટિષ્યન્તે, કિન્તુ તદા યુગાન્તો નહિ|

And ye are to hear of conflicts, and the rumor of battles. See that ye be not disquieted: for all these things must come; but the consummation is not yet.

7 અપરં દેશસ્ય વિપક્ષો દેશો રાજ્યસ્ય વિપક્ષો રાજ્યં ભવિષ્યતિ, સ્થાને સ્થાને ચ દુર્ભિક્ષં મહામારી ભૂકમ્પશ્ચ ભવિષ્યન્તિ,

For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; and there will be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes in divers places.

8 એતાનિ દુઃખોપક્રમાઃ|

But all these are only the commencement of sorrows.

9 તદાનીં લોકા દુઃખં ભોજયિતું યુષ્માન્ પરકરેષુ સમર્પયિષ્યન્તિ હનિષ્યન્તિ ચ, તથા મમ નામકારણાદ્ યૂયં સર્વ્વદેશીયમનુજાનાં સમીપે ઘૃણાર્હા ભવિષ્યથ|

And they will deliver you up to tribulation, and will kill you: and ye will be hated by all nations, on account of my name.

10 બહુષુ વિઘ્નં પ્રાપ્તવત્સુ પરસ્પરમ્ ઋતીયાં કૃતવત્સુ ચ એકોઽપરં પરકરેષુ સમર્પયિષ્યતિ|

Then many will be stumbled: and they will hate one another, and will betray one another.

11 તથા બહવો મૃષાભવિષ્યદ્વાદિન ઉપસ્થાય બહૂન્ ભ્રમયિષ્યન્તિ|

And many false prophets will rise up; and they will deceive many.

12 દુષ્કર્મ્મણાં બાહુલ્યાઞ્ચ બહૂનાં પ્રેમ શીતલં ભવિષ્યતિ|

And on account of the abounding of iniquity, the love of many will decline.

13 કિન્તુ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ શેષં યાવદ્ ધૈર્ય્યમાશ્રયતે, સએવ પરિત્રાયિષ્યતે|

But he that shall persevere to the end, will have life.

14 અપરં સર્વ્વદેશીયલોકાન્ પ્રતિમાક્ષી ભવિતું રાજસ્ય શુભસમાચારઃ સર્વ્વજગતિ પ્રચારિષ્યતે, એતાદૃશિ સતિ યુગાન્ત ઉપસ્થાસ્યતિ|

And this announcement of the kingdom shall be published in all the world, for a testimony to all nations: and then will come the consummation.

15 અતો યત્ સર્વ્વનાશકૃદ્ઘૃણાર્હં વસ્તુ દાનિયેલ્ભવિષ્યદ્વદિના પ્રોક્તં તદ્ યદા પુણ્યસ્થાને સ્થાપિતં દ્રક્ષ્યથ, (યઃ પઠતિ, સ બુધ્યતાં)

And when ye see the abominable sign of desolation, which was spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place; then let the reader consider;

16 તદાનીં યે યિહૂદીયદેશે તિષ્ઠન્તિ, તે પર્વ્વતેષુ પલાયન્તાં|

and then let them who are in Judaea, flee to the mountain:

17 યઃ કશ્ચિદ્ ગૃહપૃષ્ઠે તિષ્ઠતિ, સ ગૃહાત્ કિમપિ વસ્ત્વાનેતુમ્ અધે નાવરોહેત્|

and let him who is on the roof, not come down to take what is in his house:

18 યશ્ચ ક્ષેત્રે તિષ્ઠતિ, સોપિ વસ્ત્રમાનેતું પરાવૃત્ય ન યાયાત્|

and let him who is in the field, not return back to take his clothing.

19 તદાનીં ગર્ભિણીસ્તન્યપાયયિત્રીણાં દુર્ગતિ ર્ભવિષ્યતિ|

But woe to those with child, and to them that are nursing, in those days.

20 અતો યષ્માકં પલાયનં શીતકાલે વિશ્રામવારે વા યન્ન ભવેત્, તદર્થં પ્રાર્થયધ્વમ્|

And pray ye, that your flight be not in winter, or on the sabbath.

21 આ જગદારમ્ભાદ્ એતત્કાલપર્ય્યનન્તં યાદૃશઃ કદાપિ નાભવત્ ન ચ ભવિષ્યતિ તાદૃશો મહાક્લેશસ્તદાનીમ્ ઉપસ્થાસ્યતિ|

For there will then be great distress, such as hath not been from the commencement of the world, until now, and will not be.

22 તસ્ય ક્લેશસ્ય સમયો યદિ હ્સ્વો ન ક્રિયેત, તર્હિ કસ્યાપિ પ્રાણિનો રક્ષણં ભવિતું ન શક્નુયાત્, કિન્તુ મનોનીતમનુજાનાં કૃતે સ કાલો હ્સ્વીકરિષ્યતે|

And unless those days should be cut short, no flesh would remain alive. But, for the elect's sake, those days will be cut short.

23 અપરઞ્ચ પશ્યત, ખ્રીષ્ટોઽત્ર વિદ્યતે, વા તત્ર વિદ્યતે, તદાનીં યદી કશ્ચિદ્ યુષ્માન ઇતિ વાક્યં વદતિ, તથાપિ તત્ ન પ્રતીત્|

Then, if any one shall say to you, Lo, the Messiah is here, or is there; give no credence.

24 યતો ભાક્તખ્રીષ્ટા ભાક્તભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનશ્ચ ઉપસ્થાય યાનિ મહન્તિ લક્ષ્માણિ ચિત્રકર્મ્માણિ ચ પ્રકાશયિષ્યન્તિ, તૈ ર્યદિ સમ્ભવેત્ તર્હિ મનોનીતમાનવા અપિ ભ્રામિષ્યન્તે|

For there will arise false Messiahs, and mendacious prophets; who will exhibit great signs, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect.

25 પશ્યત, ઘટનાતઃ પૂર્વ્વં યુષ્માન્ વાર્ત્તામ્ અવાદિષમ્|

Behold, I have told you beforehand.

26 અતઃ પશ્યત, સ પ્રાન્તરે વિદ્યત ઇતિ વાક્યે કેનચિત્ કથિતેપિ બહિ ર્મા ગચ્છત, વા પશ્યત, સોન્તઃપુરે વિદ્યતે, એતદ્વાક્ય ઉક્તેપિ મા પ્રતીત|

If therefore they say to you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not out: or, Behold, he is in a secret chamber; give no credence.

27 યતો યથા વિદ્યુત્ પૂર્વ્વદિશો નિર્ગત્ય પશ્ચિમદિશં યાવત્ પ્રકાશતે, તથા માનુષપુત્રસ્યાપ્યાગમનં ભવિષ્યતિ|

As the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth unto the west, so will be the coming of the Son of man.

28 યત્ર શવસ્તિષ્ઠતિ, તત્રેવ ગૃધ્રા મિલન્તિ|

And wherever the carcass may be, there will the eagles be congregated.

29 અપરં તસ્ય ક્લેશસમયસ્યાવ્યવહિતપરત્ર સૂર્ય્યસ્ય તેજો લોપ્સ્યતે, ચન્દ્રમા જ્યોસ્નાં ન કરિષ્યતિ, નભસો નક્ષત્રાણિ પતિષ્યન્તિ, ગગણીયા ગ્રહાશ્ચ વિચલિષ્યન્તિ|

And immediately after the distress of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not show her light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of heaven will be agitated.

30 તદાનીમ્ આકાશમધ્યે મનુજસુતસ્ય લક્ષ્મ દર્શિષ્યતે, તતો નિજપરાક્રમેણ મહાતેજસા ચ મેઘારૂઢં મનુજસુતં નભસાગચ્છન્તં વિલોક્ય પૃથિવ્યાઃ સર્વ્વવંશીયા વિલપિષ્યન્તિ|

And then will be seen the signal of the Son of man in heaven: and then will all the tribes of the earth mourn, when they see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.

31 તદાનીં સ મહાશબ્દાયમાનતૂર્ય્યા વાદકાન્ નિજદૂતાન્ પ્રહેષ્યતિ, તે વ્યોમ્ન એકસીમાતોઽપરસીમાં યાવત્ ચતુર્દિશસ્તસ્ય મનોનીતજનાન્ આનીય મેલયિષ્યન્તિ|

And he will send his angels with a great trumpet and they will collect together his elect from the four winds, from one extremity of heaven to the other.

32 ઉડુમ્બરપાદપસ્ય દૃષ્ટાન્તં શિક્ષધ્વં; યદા તસ્ય નવીનાઃ શાખા જાયન્તે, પલ્લવાદિશ્ચ નિર્ગચ્છતિ, તદા નિદાઘકાલઃ સવિધો ભવતીતિ યૂયં જાનીથ;

And learn ye an illustration from the fig-tree. As soon as its branches become tender and its leaves shoot forth, ye know that summer is coming on.

33 તદ્વદ્ એતા ઘટના દૃષ્ટ્વા સ સમયો દ્વાર ઉપાસ્થાદ્ ઇતિ જાનીત|

So also ye, when ye perceive all these things, know ye, that he is nigh, even at the door.

34 યુષ્માનહં તથ્યં વદામિ, ઇદાનીન્તનજનાનાં ગમનાત્ પૂર્વ્વમેવ તાનિ સર્વ્વાણિ ઘટિષ્યન્તે|

Verily I say to you, That this generation shall not pass away, till all these things shall be.

35 નભોમેદિન્યો ર્લુપ્તયોરપિ મમ વાક્ કદાપિ ન લોપ્સ્યતે|

Heaven and earth will pass away; but my words shall not pass away.

36 અપરં મમ તાતં વિના માનુષઃ સ્વર્ગસ્થો દૂતો વા કોપિ તદ્દિનં તદ્દણ્ડઞ્ચ ન જ્ઞાપયતિ|

But of that day and of that hour, knoweth no man, nor even the angels of heaven, but the Father only.

37 અપરં નોહે વિદ્યમાને યાદૃશમભવત્ તાદૃશં મનુજસુતસ્યાગમનકાલેપિ ભવિષ્યતિ|

And as the days of Noah, so will the coming of the Son of man be.

38 ફલતો જલાપ્લાવનાત્ પૂર્વ્વં યદ્દિનં યાવત્ નોહઃ પોતં નારોહત્, તાવત્કાલં યથા મનુષ્યા ભોજને પાને વિવહને વિવાહને ચ પ્રવૃત્તા આસન્;

For as, before the flood, they were eating and drinking, taking wives and giving to husbands, up to the day that Noah entered the ark,

39 અપરમ્ આપ્લાવિતોયમાગત્ય યાવત્ સકલમનુજાન્ પ્લાવયિત્વા નાનયત્, તાવત્ તે યથા ન વિદામાસુઃ, તથા મનુજસુતાગમનેપિ ભવિષ્યતિ|

and knew not, until the flood came and took them all away; so will the coming of the Son of man be.

40 તદા ક્ષેત્રસ્થિતયોર્દ્વયોરેકો ધારિષ્યતે, અપરસ્ત્યાજિષ્યતે|

Then will two men be in the field; the one will be taken, and the other left.

41 તથા પેષણ્યા પિંષત્યોરુભયો ર્યોષિતોરેકા ધારિષ્યતેઽપરા ત્યાજિષ્યતે|

Two women will be grinding at the mill; the one taken, and the other left.

42 યુષ્માકં પ્રભુઃ કસ્મિન્ દણ્ડ આગમિષ્યતિ, તદ્ યુષ્માભિ ર્નાવગમ્યતે, તસ્માત્ જાગ્રતઃ સન્તસ્તિષ્ઠત|

Watch, therefore, since ye know not at what hour your Lord cometh.

43 કુત્ર યામે સ્તેન આગમિષ્યતીતિ ચેદ્ ગૃહસ્થો જ્ઞાતુમ્ અશક્ષ્યત્, તર્હિ જાગરિત્વા તં સન્ધિં કર્ત્તિતુમ્ અવારયિષ્યત્ તદ્ જાનીત|

But know this, that if the lord of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have been awake, and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.

44 યુષ્માભિરવધીયતાં, યતો યુષ્માભિ ર્યત્ર ન બુધ્યતે, તત્રૈવ દણ્ડે મનુજસુત આયાસ્યતિ|

Therefore, be ye also ready; for at an hour ye do not expect, the Son of man will come.

45 પ્રભુ ર્નિજપરિવારાન્ યથાકાલં ભોજયિતું યં દાસમ્ અધ્યક્ષીકૃત્ય સ્થાપયતિ, તાદૃશો વિશ્વાસ્યો ધીમાન્ દાસઃ કઃ?

Who then, is that faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath placed over his domestics, to give them their food in its time?

46 પ્રભુરાગત્ય યં દાસં તથાચરન્તં વીક્ષતે, સએવ ધન્યઃ|

Happy is that servant, whom, when his lord shall come, he will find so doing.

47 યુષ્માનહં સત્યં વદામિ, સ તં નિજસર્વ્વસ્વસ્યાધિપં કરિષ્યતિ|

Verily I say to you, He will place him over all that he hath.

48 કિન્તુ પ્રભુરાગન્તું વિલમ્બત ઇતિ મનસિ ચિન્તયિત્વા યો દુષ્ટો દાસો

But if that servant, being wicked, shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;

49 ઽપરદાસાન્ પ્રહર્ત્તું મત્તાનાં સઙ્ગે ભોક્તું પાતુઞ્ચ પ્રવર્ત્તતે,

and shall begin to beat his fellow-servants, and shall be eating and drinking with drunkards;

50 સ દાસો યદા નાપેક્ષતે, યઞ્ચ દણ્ડં ન જાનાતિ, તત્કાલએવ તત્પ્રભુરુપસ્થાસ્યતિ|

the lord of that servant will come in a day he will not expect, and in an hour he knoweth not,

51 તદા તં દણ્ડયિત્વા યત્ર સ્થાને રોદનં દન્તઘર્ષણઞ્ચાસાતે, તત્ર કપટિભિઃ સાકં તદ્દશાં નિરૂપયિષ્યતિ|

and will cut him asunder, and will assign him his portion with the hypocrites; there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
