યોહનઃ 3
1 નિકદિમનામા યિહૂદીયાનામ્ અધિપતિઃ ફિરૂશી ક્ષણદાયાં
Now there was a man of the pharisees, whose name was Nicodemus, a ruler among the Jews:
2 યીશૌરભ્યર્ણમ્ આવ્રજ્ય વ્યાહાર્ષીત્, હે ગુરો ભવાન્ ઈશ્વરાદ્ આગત્ એક ઉપદેષ્ટા, એતદ્ અસ્માભિર્જ્ઞાયતે; યતો ભવતા યાન્યાશ્ચર્ય્યકર્મ્માણિ ક્રિયન્તે પરમેશ્વરસ્ય સાહાય્યં વિના કેનાપિ તત્તત્કર્મ્માણિ કર્ત્તું ન શક્યન્તે|
who came to Jesus by night, and said unto Him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for none can do these miracles which thou dost, unless God be with him.
3 તદા યીશુરુત્તરં દત્તવાન્ તવાહં યથાર્થતરં વ્યાહરામિ પુનર્જન્મનિ ન સતિ કોપિ માનવ ઈશ્વરસ્ય રાજ્યં દ્રષ્ટું ન શક્નોતિ|
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily verily I tell thee, Unless a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 તતો નિકદીમઃ પ્રત્યવોચત્ મનુજો વૃદ્ધો ભૂત્વા કથં જનિષ્યતે? સ કિં પુન ર્માતૃર્જઠરં પ્રવિશ્ય જનિતું શક્નોતિ?
Nicodemus saith unto Him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 યીશુરવાદીદ્ યથાર્થતરમ્ અહં કથયામિ મનુજે તોયાત્મભ્યાં પુન ર્ન જાતે સ ઈશ્વરસ્ય રાજ્યં પ્રવેષ્ટું ન શક્નોતિ|
Jesus answered, I tell thee of a truth, Unless a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 માંસાદ્ યત્ જાયતે તન્ માંસમેવ તથાત્મનો યો જાયતે સ આત્મૈવ|
That, which is born of the flesh, is flesh; and that, which is born of the Spirit, is spirit.
7 યુષ્માભિઃ પુન ર્જનિતવ્યં મમૈતસ્યાં કથાયામ્ આશ્ચર્યં મા મંસ્થાઃ|
Do not wonder that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 સદાગતિર્યાં દિશમિચ્છતિ તસ્યામેવ દિશિ વાતિ, ત્વં તસ્ય સ્વનં શુણોષિ કિન્તુ સ કુત આયાતિ કુત્ર યાતિ વા કિમપિ ન જાનાસિ તદ્વાદ્ આત્મનઃ સકાશાત્ સર્વ્વેષાં મનુજાનાં જન્મ ભવતિ|
As the wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound of it, but knowest not whence it cometh, or whither it goeth; so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
9 તદા નિકદીમઃ પૃષ્ટવાન્ એતત્ કથં ભવિતું શક્નોતિ?
Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, How can these things be?
10 યીશુઃ પ્રત્યક્તવાન્ ત્વમિસ્રાયેલો ગુરુર્ભૂત્વાપિ કિમેતાં કથાં ન વેત્સિ?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a teacher of Israel and knowest not these things?
11 તુભ્યં યથાર્થં કથયામિ, વયં યદ્ વિદ્મસ્તદ્ વચ્મઃ યંચ્ચ પશ્યામસ્તસ્યૈવ સાક્ષ્યં દદ્મઃ કિન્તુ યુષ્માભિરસ્માકં સાક્ષિત્વં ન ગૃહ્યતે|
I assure thee, that we speak what we know, and testify what we have seen; though ye receive not our testimony.
12 એતસ્ય સંસારસ્ય કથાયાં કથિતાયાં યદિ યૂયં ન વિશ્વસિથ તર્હિ સ્વર્ગીયાયાં કથાયાં કથં વિશ્વસિષ્યથ?
If I have told you earthly things and ye believe not, how will ye believe if I should tell you heavenly ones?
13 યઃ સ્વર્ગેઽસ્તિ યં ચ સ્વર્ગાદ્ અવારોહત્ તં માનવતનયં વિના કોપિ સ્વર્ગં નારોહત્|
For no one hath ascended up into heaven, but He that came down from heaven, even the Son of man who is in heaven.
14 અપરઞ્ચ મૂસા યથા પ્રાન્તરે સર્પં પ્રોત્થાપિતવાન્ મનુષ્યપુત્રોઽપિ તથૈવોત્થાપિતવ્યઃ;
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up:
that whosoever believeth on Him may not perish, but have eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
16 ઈશ્વર ઇત્થં જગદદયત યત્ સ્વમદ્વિતીયં તનયં પ્રાદદાત્ તતો યઃ કશ્ચિત્ તસ્મિન્ વિશ્વસિષ્યતિ સોઽવિનાશ્યઃ સન્ અનન્તાયુઃ પ્રાપ્સ્યતિ| (aiōnios g166)
For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him might not perish, but have everlasting life: (aiōnios g166)
17 ઈશ્વરો જગતો લોકાન્ દણ્ડયિતું સ્વપુત્રં ન પ્રેષ્ય તાન્ પરિત્રાતું પ્રેષિતવાન્|
for God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved by Him.
18 અતએવ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ તસ્મિન્ વિશ્વસિતિ સ દણ્ડાર્હો ન ભવતિ કિન્તુ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ તસ્મિન્ ન વિશ્વસિતિ સ ઇદાનીમેવ દણ્ડાર્હો ભવતિ, યતઃ સ ઈશ્વરસ્યાદ્વિતીયપુત્રસ્ય નામનિ પ્રત્યયં ન કરોતિ|
He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not, is already condemned; because he hath not believed on the name of the only-begotten Son of God.
19 જગતો મધ્યે જ્યોતિઃ પ્રાકાશત કિન્તુ મનુષ્યાણાં કર્મ્મણાં દૃષ્ટત્વાત્ તે જ્યોતિષોપિ તિમિરે પ્રીયન્તે એતદેવ દણ્ડસ્ય કારણાં ભવતિ|
And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
20 યઃ કુકર્મ્મ કરોતિ તસ્યાચારસ્ય દૃષ્ટત્વાત્ સ જ્યોતિરૄતીયિત્વા તન્નિકટં નાયાતિ;
For every one that doth evil, hateth the light; and he cometh not to the light, least his deeds should be reproved.
21 કિન્તુ યઃ સત્કર્મ્મ કરોતિ તસ્ય સર્વ્વાણિ કર્મ્માણીશ્વરેણ કૃતાનીતિ સથા પ્રકાશતે તદભિપ્રાયેણ સ જ્યોતિષઃ સન્નિધિમ્ આયાતિ|
But he that acts according to truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
22 તતઃ પરમ્ યીશુઃ શિષ્યૈઃ સાર્દ્ધં યિહૂદીયદેશં ગત્વા તત્ર સ્થિત્વા મજ્જયિતુમ્ આરભત|
After these things came Jesus, and his disciples into the land of Judea: and He stayed with them there, and baptized.
23 તદા શાલમ્ નગરસ્ય સમીપસ્થાયિનિ ઐનન્ ગ્રામે બહુતરતોયસ્થિતેસ્તત્ર યોહન્ અમજ્જયત્ તથા ચ લોકા આગત્ય તેન મજ્જિતા અભવન્|
And John also was baptizing in Enon near Salim; because there was much water there: and people came to him and were baptized.
24 તદા યોહન્ કારાયાં ન બદ્ધઃ|
For John was not yet cast into prison.
25 અપરઞ્ચ શાચકર્મ્મણિ યોહાનઃ શિષ્યૈઃ સહ યિહૂદીયલોકાનાં વિવાદે જાતે, તે યોહનઃ સંન્નિધિં ગત્વાકથયન્,
Now there arose a dispute between some of the disciples of John, and the Jews, about purifying.
26 હે ગુરો યર્દ્દનનદ્યાઃ પારે ભવતા સાર્દ્ધં ય આસીત્ યસ્મિંશ્ચ ભવાન્ સાક્ષ્યં પ્રદદાત્ પશ્યતુ સોપિ મજ્જયતિ સર્વ્વે તસ્ય સમીપં યાન્તિ ચ|
And they came to John, and said unto him, Rabbi, He that was with thee on the other side Jordan, to whom thou barest testimony, behold, He baptizeth and all the people come to Him.
27 તદા યોહન્ પ્રત્યવોચદ્ ઈશ્વરેણ ન દત્તે કોપિ મનુજઃ કિમપિ પ્રાપ્તું ન શક્નોતિ|
John answered and said, A man can take nothing upon him, unless it be given him from heaven.
28 અહં અભિષિક્તો ન ભવામિ કિન્તુ તદગ્રે પ્રેષિતોસ્મિ યામિમાં કથાં કથિતવાનાહં તત્ર યૂયં સર્વ્વે સાક્ષિણઃ સ્થ|
Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but am sent before Him.
29 યો જનઃ કન્યાં લભતે સ એવ વરઃ કિન્તુ વરસ્ય સન્નિધૌ દણ્ડાયમાનં તસ્ય યન્મિત્રં તેન વરસ્ય શબ્દે શ્રુતેઽતીવાહ્લાદ્યતે મમાપિ તદ્વદ્ આનન્દસિદ્ધિર્જાતા|
He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with great joy at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore my joy is complete.
30 તેન ક્રમશો વર્દ્ધિતવ્યં કિન્તુ મયા હ્સિતવ્યં|
He must increase, but I must decrease.
31 ય ઊર્ધ્વાદાગચ્છત્ સ સર્વ્વેષાં મુખ્યો યશ્ચ સંસારાદ્ ઉદપદ્યત સ સાંસારિકઃ સંસારીયાં કથાઞ્ચ કથયતિ યસ્તુ સ્વર્ગાદાગચ્છત્ સ સર્વ્વેષાં મુખ્યઃ|
He, that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is earthly, and talketh like one of the earth:
32 સ યદપશ્યદશૃણોચ્ચ તસ્મિન્નેવ સાક્ષ્યં દદાતિ તથાપિ પ્રાયશઃ કશ્ચિત્ તસ્ય સાક્ષ્યં ન ગૃહ્લાતિ;
but He that cometh from heaven, is above all: and what He hath seen and heard, this He testifieth: and yet scarce any one receiveth his testimony.
33 કિન્તુ યો ગૃહ્લાતિ સ ઈશ્વરસ્ય સત્યવાદિત્વં મુદ્રાઙ્ગિતં કરોતિ|
He that hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, that God is true:
34 ઈશ્વરેણ યઃ પ્રેરિતઃ સએવ ઈશ્વરીયકથાં કથયતિ યત ઈશ્વર આત્માનં તસ્મૈ અપરિમિતમ્ અદદાત્|
for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure.
35 પિતા પુત્રે સ્નેહં કૃત્વા તસ્ય હસ્તે સર્વ્વાણિ સમર્પિતવાન્|
The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all into his hand:
36 યઃ કશ્ચિત્ પુત્રે વિશ્વસિતિ સ એવાનન્તમ્ પરમાયુઃ પ્રાપ્નોતિ કિન્તુ યઃ કશ્ચિત્ પુત્રે ન વિશ્વસિતિ સ પરમાયુષો દર્શનં ન પ્રાપ્નોતિ કિન્ત્વીશ્વરસ્ય કોપભાજનં ભૂત્વા તિષ્ઠતિ| (aiōnios g166)
wherefore he that believeth on the Son, hath eternal life; and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him. (aiōnios g166)
