યોહનઃ 1
1 આદૌ વાદ આસીત્ સ ચ વાદ ઈશ્વરેણ સાર્ધમાસીત્ સ વાદઃ સ્વયમીશ્વર એવ|
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God;
2 સ આદાવીશ્વરેણ સહાસીત્|
this One was in the beginning with God;
3 તેન સર્વ્વં વસ્તુ સસૃજે સર્વ્વેષુ સૃષ્ટવસ્તુષુ કિમપિ વસ્તુ તેનાસૃષ્ટં નાસ્તિ|
all things happened through Him, and without Him not even one thing happened that has happened.
4 સ જીવનસ્યાકારઃ, તચ્ચ જીવનં મનુષ્યાણાં જ્યોતિઃ
In Him was life, and the life was the light of men,
5 તજ્જ્યોતિરન્ધકારે પ્રચકાશે કિન્ત્વન્ધકારસ્તન્ન જગ્રાહ|
and the light shined in the darkness, and the darkness did not perceive it.
6 યોહન્ નામક એકો મનુજ ઈશ્વરેણ પ્રેષયાઞ્ચક્રે|
There came a man—having been sent from God—whose name [is] John,
7 તદ્વારા યથા સર્વ્વે વિશ્વસન્તિ તદર્થં સ તજ્જ્યોતિષિ પ્રમાણં દાતું સાક્ષિસ્વરૂપો ભૂત્વાગમત્,
this one came for testimony, that he might testify about the Light, that all might believe through him;
8 સ સ્વયં તજ્જ્યોતિ ર્ન કિન્તુ તજ્જ્યોતિષિ પ્રમાણં દાતુમાગમત્|
that one was not the Light, but—that he might testify about the Light.
9 જગત્યાગત્ય યઃ સર્વ્વમનુજેભ્યો દીપ્તિં દદાતિ તદેવ સત્યજ્યોતિઃ|
He was the true Light, which enlightens every man, coming into the world;
10 સ યજ્જગદસૃજત્ તન્મદ્ય એવ સ આસીત્ કિન્તુ જગતો લોકાસ્તં નાજાનન્|
He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him:
11 નિજાધિકારં સ આગચ્છત્ કિન્તુ પ્રજાસ્તં નાગૃહ્લન્|
He came to [His] own, and [His] own did not receive Him;
12 તથાપિ યે યે તમગૃહ્લન્ અર્થાત્ તસ્ય નામ્નિ વ્યશ્વસન્ તેભ્ય ઈશ્વરસ્ય પુત્રા ભવિતુમ્ અધિકારમ્ અદદાત્|
but as many as received Him, to them He gave authority to become sons of God—to those believing in His Name,
13 તેષાં જનિઃ શોણિતાન્ન શારીરિકાભિલાષાન્ન માનવાનામિચ્છાતો ન કિન્ત્વીશ્વરાદભવત્|
who were begotten, not of blood, nor of will of flesh, nor of will of man, but of God.
14 સ વાદો મનુષ્યરૂપેણાવતીર્ય્ય સત્યતાનુગ્રહાભ્યાં પરિપૂર્ણઃ સન્ સાર્ધમ્ અસ્માભિ ર્ન્યવસત્ તતઃ પિતુરદ્વિતીયપુત્રસ્ય યોગ્યો યો મહિમા તં મહિમાનં તસ્યાપશ્યામ|
And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of [the] only begotten of [the] Father, full of grace and truth.
15 તતો યોહનપિ પ્રચાર્ય્ય સાક્ષ્યમિદં દત્તવાન્ યો મમ પશ્ચાદ્ આગમિષ્યતિ સ મત્તો ગુરુતરઃ; યતો મત્પૂર્વ્વં સ વિદ્યમાન આસીત્; યદર્થમ્ અહં સાક્ષ્યમિદમ્ અદાં સ એષઃ|
John testifies concerning Him, and has cried, saying, “This was He of whom I said, He who is coming after me has come before me, for He was before me.”
16 અપરઞ્ચ તસ્ય પૂર્ણતાયા વયં સર્વ્વે ક્રમશઃ ક્રમશોનુગ્રહં પ્રાપ્તાઃ|
And we all received out of His fullness, and grace for grace;
17 મૂસાદ્વારા વ્યવસ્થા દત્તા કિન્ત્વનુગ્રહઃ સત્યત્વઞ્ચ યીશુખ્રીષ્ટદ્વારા સમુપાતિષ્ઠતાં|
for the Law was given through Moses, the grace and the truth came through Jesus Christ.
18 કોપિ મનુજ ઈશ્વરં કદાપિ નાપશ્યત્ કિન્તુ પિતુઃ ક્રોડસ્થોઽદ્વિતીયઃ પુત્રસ્તં પ્રકાશયત્|
No one has ever seen God; the only begotten God who is on the bosom of the Father—He has expounded [Him].
19 ત્વં કઃ? ઇતિ વાક્યં પ્રેષ્ટું યદા યિહૂદીયલોકા યાજકાન્ લેવિલોકાંશ્ચ યિરૂશાલમો યોહનઃ સમીપે પ્રેષયામાસુઃ,
And this is the testimony of John when the Jews sent priests and Levites out of Jerusalem, that they might question him, “Who are you?”
20 તદા સ સ્વીકૃતવાન્ નાપહ્નૂતવાન્ નાહમ્ અભિષિક્ત ઇત્યઙ્ગીકૃતવાન્|
And he confessed and did not deny, and confessed, “I am not the Christ.”
21 તદા તેઽપૃચ્છન્ તર્હિ કો ભવાન્? કિં એલિયઃ? સોવદત્ ન; તતસ્તેઽપૃચ્છન્ તર્હિ ભવાન્ સ ભવિષ્યદ્વાદી? સોવદત્ નાહં સઃ|
And they questioned him, “What then? Are you Elijah?” And he says, “I am not.” “Are you the prophet?” And he answered, “No.”
22 તદા તેઽપૃચ્છન્ તર્હિ ભવાન્ કઃ? વયં ગત્વા પ્રેરકાન્ ત્વયિ કિં વક્ષ્યામઃ? સ્વસ્મિન્ કિં વદસિ?
Then they said to him, “Who are you, that we may give an answer to those sending us? What do you say concerning yourself?”
23 તદા સોવદત્| પરમેશસ્ય પન્થાનં પરિષ્કુરુત સર્વ્વતઃ| ઇતીદં પ્રાન્તરે વાક્યં વદતઃ કસ્યચિદ્રવઃ| કથામિમાં યસ્મિન્ યિશયિયો ભવિષ્યદ્વાદી લિખિતવાન્ સોહમ્|
He said, “I [am] a voice of one crying in the wilderness: Make straight the way of the LORD, as Isaiah the prophet said.”
24 યે પ્રેષિતાસ્તે ફિરૂશિલોકાઃ|
And those sent were of the Pharisees,
25 તદા તેઽપૃચ્છન્ યદિ નાભિષિક્તોસિ એલિયોસિ ન સ ભવિષ્યદ્વાદ્યપિ નાસિ ચ, તર્હિ લોકાન્ મજ્જયસિ કુતઃ?
and they questioned him and said to him, “Why, then, do you immerse, if you are not the Christ, nor Elijah, nor the prophet?”
26 તતો યોહન્ પ્રત્યવોચત્, તોયેઽહં મજ્જયામીતિ સત્યં કિન્તુ યં યૂયં ન જાનીથ તાદૃશ એકો જનો યુષ્માકં મધ્ય ઉપતિષ્ઠતિ|
John answered them, saying, “I immerse in water, but in the midst of you has stood He whom you have not known, it is this One who is coming after me, who has been before me,
27 સ મત્પશ્ચાદ્ આગતોપિ મત્પૂર્વ્વં વર્ત્તમાન આસીત્ તસ્ય પાદુકાબન્ધનં મોચયિતુમપિ નાહં યોગ્યોસ્મિ|
of whom I am not worthy that I may loose the strap of His sandal.”
28 યર્દ્દનનદ્યાઃ પારસ્થબૈથબારાયાં યસ્મિન્સ્થાને યોહનમજ્જયત્ તસ્મિન સ્થાને સર્વ્વમેતદ્ અઘટત|
These things came to pass in Bethabara, beyond the Jordan, where John was immersing.
29 પરેઽહનિ યોહન્ સ્વનિકટમાગચ્છન્તં યિશું વિલોક્ય પ્રાવોચત્ જગતઃ પાપમોચકમ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય મેષશાવકં પશ્યત|
On the next day John sees Jesus coming to him and says, “Behold, the Lamb of God, who is taking away the sin of the world;
30 યો મમ પશ્ચાદાગમિષ્યતિ સ મત્તો ગુરુતરઃ, યતો હેતોર્મત્પૂર્વ્વં સોઽવર્ત્તત યસ્મિન્નહં કથામિમાં કથિતવાન્ સ એવાયં|
this is He concerning whom I said, After me comes a Man who has come before me, because He was before me:
31 અપરં નાહમેનં પ્રત્યભિજ્ઞાતવાન્ કિન્તુ ઇસ્રાયેલ્લોકા એનં યથા પરિચિન્વન્તિ તદભિપ્રાયેણાહં જલે મજ્જયિતુમાગચ્છમ્|
and I did not know Him, but that He might be revealed to Israel, because of this I came immersing in water.”
32 પુનશ્ચ યોહનપરમેકં પ્રમાણં દત્વા કથિતવાન્ વિહાયસઃ કપોતવદ્ અવતરન્તમાત્માનમ્ અસ્યોપર્ય્યવતિષ્ઠન્તં ચ દૃષ્ટવાનહમ્|
And John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit coming down out of Heaven as a dove, and [that] One remained on Him;
33 નાહમેનં પ્રત્યભિજ્ઞાતવાન્ ઇતિ સત્યં કિન્તુ યો જલે મજ્જયિતું માં પ્રૈરયત્ સ એવેમાં કથામકથયત્ યસ્યોપર્ય્યાત્માનમ્ અવતરન્તમ્ અવતિષ્ઠન્તઞ્ચ દ્રક્ષયસિ સએવ પવિત્રે આત્મનિ મજ્જયિષ્યતિ|
and I did not know Him, but He who sent me to immerse in water, He said to me, On whomsoever you may see the Spirit coming down, and remaining on Him, this is He who is immersing in the Holy Spirit;
34 અવસ્તન્નિરીક્ષ્યાયમ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય તનય ઇતિ પ્રમાણં દદામિ|
and I have seen, and have testified, that this is the Son of God.”
35 પરેઽહનિ યોહન્ દ્વાભ્યાં શિષ્યાભ્યાં સાર્દ્ધેં તિષ્ઠન્
On the next day, again, John was standing, and two of his disciples,
36 યિશું ગચ્છન્તં વિલોક્ય ગદિતવાન્, ઈશ્વરસ્ય મેષશાવકં પશ્યતં|
and having looked on Jesus walking, he says, “Behold, the Lamb of God”;
37 ઇમાં કથાં શ્રુત્વા દ્વૌ શિષ્યૌ યીશોઃ પશ્ચાદ્ ઈયતુઃ|
and the two disciples heard him speaking, and they followed Jesus.
38 તતો યીશુઃ પરાવૃત્ય તૌ પશ્ચાદ્ આગચ્છન્તૌ દૃષ્ટ્વા પૃષ્ટવાન્ યુવાં કિં ગવેશયથઃ? તાવપૃચ્છતાં હે રબ્બિ અર્થાત્ હે ગુરો ભવાન્ કુત્ર તિષ્ઠતિ?
And Jesus having turned, and having beheld them following, says to them, “What do you seek?” And they said to Him, “Rabbi” (which is, being interpreted, Teacher), “where do You remain?”
39 તતઃ સોવાદિત્ એત્ય પશ્યતં| તતો દિવસસ્ય તૃતીયપ્રહરસ્ય ગતત્વાત્ તૌ તદ્દિનં તસ્ય સઙ્ગેઽસ્થાતાં|
He says to them, “Come and see”; they came and saw where He remains, and they remained with Him that day and the hour was about the tenth.
40 યૌ દ્વૌ યોહનો વાક્યં શ્રુત્વા યિશોઃ પશ્ચાદ્ આગમતાં તયોઃ શિમોન્પિતરસ્ય ભ્રાતા આન્દ્રિયઃ
Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard from John, and followed Him;
41 સ ઇત્વા પ્રથમં નિજસોદરં શિમોનં સાક્ષાત્પ્રાપ્ય કથિતવાન્ વયં ખ્રીષ્ટમ્ અર્થાત્ અભિષિક્તપુરુષં સાક્ષાત્કૃતવન્તઃ|
this one first finds his own brother Simon and says to him, “We have found the Messiah,” (which is, being interpreted, Anointed One),
42 પશ્ચાત્ સ તં યિશોઃ સમીપમ્ આનયત્| તદા યીશુસ્તં દૃષ્ટ્વાવદત્ ત્વં યૂનસઃ પુત્રઃ શિમોન્ કિન્તુ ત્વન્નામધેયં કૈફાઃ વા પિતરઃ અર્થાત્ પ્રસ્તરો ભવિષ્યતિ|
and he brought him to Jesus: and having looked on him, Jesus says, “You are Simon, the son of Jonas, you will be called Cephas,” (which is interpreted, A rock).
43 પરેઽહનિ યીશૌ ગાલીલં ગન્તું નિશ્ચિતચેતસિ સતિ ફિલિપનામાનં જનં સાક્ષાત્પ્રાપ્યાવોચત્ મમ પશ્ચાદ્ આગચ્છ|
On the next day He willed to go forth to Galilee, and He finds Philip and says to him, “Follow Me.”
44 બૈત્સૈદાનામ્નિ યસ્મિન્ ગ્રામે પિતરાન્દ્રિયયોર્વાસ આસીત્ તસ્મિન્ ગ્રામે તસ્ય ફિલિપસ્ય વસતિરાસીત્|
And Philip was from Bethsaida, of the city of Andrew and Peter;
45 પશ્ચાત્ ફિલિપો નિથનેલં સાક્ષાત્પ્રાપ્યાવદત્ મૂસા વ્યવસ્થા ગ્રન્થે ભવિષ્યદ્વાદિનાં ગ્રન્થેષુ ચ યસ્યાખ્યાનં લિખિતમાસ્તે તં યૂષફઃ પુત્રં નાસરતીયં યીશું સાક્ષાદ્ અકાર્ષ્મ વયં|
Philip finds Nathanael and says to him, “Him of whom Moses wrote in the Law, and the Prophets, we have found, Jesus the Son of Joseph, who [is] from Nazareth!”
46 તદા નિથનેલ્ કથિતવાન્ નાસરન્નગરાત કિં કશ્ચિદુત્તમ ઉત્પન્તું શક્નોતિ? તતઃ ફિલિપો ઽવોચત્ એત્ય પશ્ય|
And Nathanael said to him, “Is any good thing able to be out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
47 અપરઞ્ચ યીશુઃ સ્વસ્ય સમીપં તમ્ આગચ્છન્તં દૃષ્ટ્વા વ્યાહૃતવાન્, પશ્યાયં નિષ્કપટઃ સત્ય ઇસ્રાયેલ્લોકઃ|
Jesus saw Nathanael coming to Him, and He says concerning him, “Behold, truly an Israelite, in whom is no guile”;
48 તતઃ સોવદદ્, ભવાન્ માં કથં પ્રત્યભિજાનાતિ? યીશુરવાદીત્ ફિલિપસ્ય આહ્વાનાત્ પૂર્વ્વં યદા ત્વમુડુમ્બરસ્ય તરોર્મૂલેઽસ્થાસ્તદા ત્વામદર્શમ્|
Nathanael says to Him, “From where do You know me?” Jesus answered and said to him, “Before Philip’s calling you, being under the fig tree, I saw you.”
49 નિથનેલ્ અચકથત્, હે ગુરો ભવાન્ નિતાન્તમ્ ઈશ્વરસ્ય પુત્રોસિ, ભવાન્ ઇસ્રાયેલ્વંશસ્ય રાજા|
Nathanael answered and says to Him, “Rabbi, You are the Son of God, You are the King of Israel.”
50 તતો યીશુ ર્વ્યાહરત્, ત્વામુડુમ્બરસ્ય પાદપસ્ય મૂલે દૃષ્ટવાનાહં મમૈતસ્માદ્વાક્યાત્ કિં ત્વં વ્યશ્વસીઃ? એતસ્માદપ્યાશ્ચર્ય્યાણિ કાર્ય્યાણિ દ્રક્ષ્યસિ|
Jesus answered and said to him, “Because I said to you, I saw you under the fig tree, you believe; you will see greater things than these”;
51 અન્યચ્ચાવાદીદ્ યુષ્માનહં યથાર્થં વદામિ, ઇતઃ પરં મોચિતે મેઘદ્વારે તસ્માન્મનુજસૂનુના ઈશ્વરસ્ય દૂતગણમ્ અવરોહન્તમારોહન્તઞ્ચ દ્રક્ષ્યથ|
and He says to him, “Truly, truly, I say to you, from now on you will see Heaven opened, and the messengers of God going up and coming down on the Son of Man.”
